Hi everyone, the next PlayStation 3 (PS3) system software update is coming soon. Firmware update 3.41 will add recommendations for games and videos on PlayStation Store. When you’re browsing through the details of a particular title, you’ll see a new “You May Like” section on the right-hand side. This section lists additional items based on the purchases of other PlayStation Network members who have purchased the item you’re currently looking at.
You can then click on this section to zoom in on the list and scroll the recommended titles.
This feature is a great way to discover new games that you may not know about, and it’s another step toward making the shopping experience easier and better for you all — similar to the five-star ratings feature we added in the last firmware update. Please note that while the 3.41 update will be released shortly, the recommendations feature on PlayStation Store is slated to go live by the end of July.
In addition to this PS3 update, the next PSP (PlayStation Portable) firmware update (v.6.31) will be coming as well. This is a minor update, and system software stability during use of some PSP format software titles has been improved.

Update: For those users who are replacing the PS3 hard disk drive: We have been aware of the symptoms with the system software update 3.41, released on July 27, and that it will cause the update to stop in some occasions while replacing the PlayStation 3 (PS3) Hard Disk Drive (HDD) if the PS3 system is installed with version 3.41.
To resolve these symptoms, we have released a new version of system software update 3.41 with a very minor change (the version number does not change) on August 2nd. If you are experiencing such symptoms when replacing the HDD of your PS3 system, we kindly ask you to use the latest data and try again. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and appreciate your understanding and continued support.

awesome job guys, hey I got a recommendation, since it is hard fins apps on the store like MLB.TV and the general public who may not have heard of this may never find this app on the store I think you guys should make this more apparent like adding an “Apps” button or something.
Something is better than nothing. Would be nice to be able to rate games from within the XMB!
Why do we need a PS3 update for a store update?
How about improving the speed and lag of the XMB when playing a game. its slowdown is terrible. who cares about useless garbage, and work on improving it instead of bloat!!!

when is that update going to include other os? or when can I backup my saves or trophies? I want it to do everything ,including what it used to do :).

Wow im sorry but is this a joke? This has to come within a firmware update? sounds like a waste of time to me,when you think about all the other enhancments that could be released?
Its sad to say but its true, cross-game chat is something that people will not stop mentioning until we get it…
At this rate, we will never get Cross-Game Private Chat until the next Playstation comes out. Way to go Sony, once again you guys how a feature (E3 2006 cross-game private voice/video chat) but never implemented it.

I want those things. It’d be nice if the rating was more like XBLA instead. It’s a lot easier and faster the way they do it.
Seems to be a cool feture, I might use it, might not sicne I have the whole internet and youtube to look up whats games I might want.
No word on Cross Game chat? Its the most requested feture that we want on the PS3.
This is kind of a small part of a whole new “user experience” post I made on the boards months ago. Very, very small part but was excited when I first read it thinking they were doing what I suggested.
If this alone is the only thing in the update I’ll pass unless they force me to update. Kinda useless on its own.
Is that really worth the 2 minutes of my life spent reading this, and the 2 hours that it takes to install? I don’t know about others, but I don’t have that kind of time. They really need to add more to this update.

Hey I’m curious about the Automatic Download feature available to PS+ users. I’ve enabled the feature and have it set to come on from 2-4 am but it doesn’t turn my ps3 on. My ps3 is on standby i never turn it off in back, and it’s been set like this since i got Plus on day one. Also I’ve heard it only downloads patches for games you have played since the firmware update, can you give some more info on this?
Was this high on the list of needed features?

Please fix BBC iPlayer stutter, PS3 looks like it struggles to playback the stream, but it’s fine on the PC.
Eric, great update. The team really should implement a SEARCH function or SORTING option to the Download List. Some of us are well over 1000+ downloads now and it can be a real pain to download some of our older stuff.
