Hi everyone, the next PlayStation 3 (PS3) system software update is coming soon. Firmware update 3.41 will add recommendations for games and videos on PlayStation Store. When you’re browsing through the details of a particular title, you’ll see a new “You May Like” section on the right-hand side. This section lists additional items based on the purchases of other PlayStation Network members who have purchased the item you’re currently looking at.
You can then click on this section to zoom in on the list and scroll the recommended titles.
This feature is a great way to discover new games that you may not know about, and it’s another step toward making the shopping experience easier and better for you all — similar to the five-star ratings feature we added in the last firmware update. Please note that while the 3.41 update will be released shortly, the recommendations feature on PlayStation Store is slated to go live by the end of July.
In addition to this PS3 update, the next PSP (PlayStation Portable) firmware update (v.6.31) will be coming as well. This is a minor update, and system software stability during use of some PSP format software titles has been improved.

Update: For those users who are replacing the PS3 hard disk drive: We have been aware of the symptoms with the system software update 3.41, released on July 27, and that it will cause the update to stop in some occasions while replacing the PlayStation 3 (PS3) Hard Disk Drive (HDD) if the PS3 system is installed with version 3.41.
To resolve these symptoms, we have released a new version of system software update 3.41 with a very minor change (the version number does not change) on August 2nd. If you are experiencing such symptoms when replacing the HDD of your PS3 system, we kindly ask you to use the latest data and try again. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and appreciate your understanding and continued support.

I Downloaded this a few hours ago.I Read the details of the update here,so i went to check the Playstation Store.I’ve looked for this new’You may like’button,but it isn’t there.Can anyone help?
Wow, how totally underwhelming. I think most people more or less have familiarized themselves with the PSN library, and check up on new releases on a semi-regular basis. In other words, this firmware update is solely to support a feature that is mostly useless.
I really don’t understand why the most repeatedly requested PSN features are continuously ignored. You guys opened up that site that lets people suggest ideas, thousands of people go and vote, ….. and then nothing.

You guys seriously go out of your way to not listen to others. I guess the only way we get the features we want is when we don’t suggest them.

Here is some feedback, these sporadic frequent splurge updates make you seem erratic and amateurish while your main competitor’s scheduled fixed number of updates a year make them seem sleek and professional. And their updates carry a lot more weight while in their user’s minds as something they actually look forward to rather something to be dreaded or bemoaned every time you are seen coming over the hills all excited with arms swinging over this newest minor tweak.
What a lame update. And still NOOOOO browser update. It does everything but what you want it to do. This is the sorriest update in update history. I didn’t want or ask for this, I want a browser update.
Sony fix up before u start losing sum serious money lol u might even get sued.i hope u get sued n lose big money because at least then you’ll realise what your doing.

Okay, PS Store recommendations is a start, but you should really look at the .Blog Share if you want to add something we all will use!

or try to (bypass M$ monopoly) and finally add a mp4 or mp3 support so we can listen to our tracks on multiplayer online game play? as game developers have to add it themselves, but seems like that they are not even thinking about doing it.

awesome update…now i can have the choice to pick similar games i already know i’d like…but I SURE DO WISH I COULD PLAY GAMES I ALREADY KNOW I LIKE!!!for instance PS2 games. I know you guys can come out with a firmware update to make all PS3’s backwards compatible. PLEASE stop pissing around selling PS2’s just because you can and enable PS3 backwards compatibility. All good things must die and you’re just bleeding the situation out for money.
this update erased my VIP status on battlefield bad company 2, so im a bit pissed of and you GOT TO FIX IT!!

Not bad but maybe you should include at least 2 more features for a firmware update.
Seems really a waste of time to do a firmware just to add “PS Store recommendations” which isn’t even going to be live when the firmware is out
Sony!!! Please look at the PS Blog Share site and use that for PS3 firmware updates.
We don’t need this garbage of recommendations based on what you buy from PSN? This sounds like a marketing scheme in hopes that people will buy more junk.
Most of us PS3 owners and PSP owners are “hardcore” gamers and we know exactly what games we want from PSN. We don’t need to be recommended and neither do the “casual” gamers as they can blatantly already see what’s new, what’s selling very well, etc.
I mean that 5 star rating thing was pushing it a bit, but now you add another related piece of junk to the PS3 firmware? Come on!!
And couldn’t this “PlayStation Store Recommendations” thing been added to 3.40? Why use another firmware to add it?
You guys are wasting money, time, and man power and research and developing these kinds of things.
And with the PSP firmware update…software stability….Hm. If I recall correctly, the PSP 6.30 made it so that some games weren’t playing correctly. So you guys “fix” your messed up firmware with another one.
On a side note, there are probably hidden updates to both the PS3 and PSP that Sony doesn’t want to announce. Like with PSP’s 6.30, they added a folders for PSP MINIS, PLAYSTATION, PC ENGINE [Turbo Grapfix 16], and NeoGeo.
So I bet that the PS3’s next update will have those as well. Maybe it’ll have a folder for SEGA DREAMCAST and PLAYSTATION 2.

Getting to the point where it would likely be a good idea not to even mention stuff like this for updates.
If this is a “main feature” fine, but the Share.Blog is there for a reason.
We are concerned with what we have all shared we want from within the Share.Blog.

I’ve just updated and my (Hong Kong) PS Store has a nice new Fat Princess background, and… nothing else.
Is there anything else in this update, or is it just prepping the Store for recommendations etc at the end of the month?
PS3 Wishlist: Skype, Chrome, Music Store, Apps Store, and Voice Control (just to annoy those who pay $150 for Kinect)

Making promise they can’t keep, certain features they said they would add for years but never added it. It would be great if they tell us what’s taking so long then keep saying its coming,it’s coming for years but never seen the light of day. just tell us what’s taking so long now at this point. Now the xbox slim is looking might attractive to me right now. i’ll wait till the of september to decide if i should trade in my ps3 for xbox slim and no i don’t care about bluray

2. A better Playstation Home integration

1. active psn friends list
2. trophies
3. better internet browser
PSN:
1. ability to own an HD movie on my ps3 then transfer the same movie to my PSP
2. Ability to pre order psp GO games on psn and get the pre order goodies at the same time as the other psp owners

Another useless update of firmware. Is Playstation Blog Share just a tool for users to wish for features and whatever that will never be implemented or even listen to?
When is there going to be a firmware patch with updates that the for which the community has been asking? Its nice and all to see regular updates, but there are functions that are very much in Sony’s capabilty that arent being added. PS2/PS1 emulation? Hell that is easy enough, early models and current models emulated PS2 and PS1 games (respectively). Cross game chat, as much as I hate hearing about it, there is no technical reason why it cant be done. Just listen to your community Sony, thats all. Dont be wanks and tell us that we dont know what we want until you show us what that is, that is lying to yourself and your community (you know, those people that give you money).

well since this update ps home has been nothing but hassle spaces not loading,wardrobe not loading,items at the mall not loading,loads of avatars with missing items i.e torso or bottom half of avatar missing,obviously more than just an update to the ps store so whats going on????????????
How about letting us alphabetize the games we already have? This is basic, for pete’s sake.

i tend to ignore recommendations, so that ‘feature’ really will go unnoticed by me… there should be an option to turn that off… cause i just dont want it getting in the way when im browsing the store for something i actually do want…. k?
