This Wednesday, August 4th at 2:00am (Pacific Time), the ModNation Racers Title Update 1.02 goes live improving many of the issues the community has been concerned about. On behalf of UFG, we want to thank everyone for supporting ModNation and being patient as we’ve worked hard to make it the best experience possible. If you didn’t see the patch details on the IGN last Friday, here is a run down:
Update: Title Update 1.02 for ModNation Racers unfortunately introduced an issue that affects online XP Races and XP Series. We’ve identified the cause and are quickly working on a solution to resolve the issue. We intend on updating the ModNation Community on the release of this fix as soon as possible.
Load Time Improvements
While there are still loads, you will see decreases in load times throughout the game.
New “Casual” Difficulty Mode
We’ve added a “casual” difficulty setting in the options screen.
Challenge friends in XP Series
We’ve added the ability to invite your friends to XP Races & Series.
No more “Hot Lap” Cheaters
We fixed a bug that allowed players to cut the track and post unbeatable times in Hot Lap.
Get into Online Races Quicker
Along with improved load times, we’ve removed the online game room from the ModSpot so you can get into the race faster.
Improved Server Stability
We’ve addressed issues to improve intermittent disconnects that players were experiencing.
Three Challenges now more attainable
We wanted to provide you challenges, but didn’t want to sacrifice fun. We found 3 challenges that proved extremely difficult and changed the conditions to complete them. This includes:
- Devastator takedown on Wild Run
- Devastator takedown on Modobahn
- Sideswipe 3 opponents on the cliff side on Fracture
The Tin Bucket Unlocked!
Finally this is an item is unlocked and available to everyone by default.
Collector Card Improvement
Now see all player creations in their entirety.
Improvements to ModNation Racers don’t stop here, we are still constantly listening to the community and are committed to making ModNation Racers one of the most enjoyable experiences you’ll have on your PS3.

JEFF! what’st happening I’m having issues with MY PS3 after update 3.41 it continues to freeze and BD / DVD playback is all screwy and it freezes up shortly after that!!!! please fix this ASAP! I’ve never had issues with my PS3 but why do we have to pay for something that we didn’t even do!
put an asterisk next to the people who get trophies with the new easy difficulty! As a gaming professional I got these hot chicks all over me because I got some hard trophies in this game but now that others will get them on easy these chicks won’t think I’m hot stuff anymore. This is an insult! And then I spend 4 hours on here waiting to get a code and I step away for like 2 minutes to heat up some pizza rolls and BAM you give away the codes to some blog noob when I put in blood sweat and tears here hitting refresh! Unbelievable!!!!>:( oh yeah, you see it. I busted out the angry face! It’s on!!

I know it’s too late for any official to look at, but I do hope that there will be an easier way to report inappropriate text and voice chat. This game involves kids and Family, so speaking inappropriately should be viewed as a definite no-no.
God, I wish could give a crap about this game enough to care about this update. I wanted to love it but I couldn’t get on board. I am VERY envious of the update/DLC love this game gets. I wish all other games received this kind of support post launch.

I think you should turn off the PS3 for a day and go outside, get some air, and think about the direction your life is taking.
You mention removing the “Online game room” from the Modspot, is that the pre-race lobby where you can change your karts/mods and have some friendly banter or text chat?
I hope that is not the case, I would rather that have stayed. You cant please everyone I guess.

I love the changes made to load time issues… but the changes made to the challenges and the difficulty of carreer.. mmmmm not so much… If getting a trophy in casual difficulty is really easier than in “normal” difficulty, at least there would be a new pack of trophies showing the skill required to get them. For example, in several games (COD, Uncharted etc)you get a trophy when the hardest settings are conquered… it’s just a simple idea, but it would be awesome if you add, just as casual, a hard difficulty for extreme players :D . This is by far the best racing game I have ever played and I am very grateful to sony and UFG for it. And I get all preorder codes in a separate account (even all the mystery mods) so if someone is interested or want to play some online mayhem just add me…

im happy that these problems are being fixed, but for those people who actually spent time completing those 3 challenges, it seems as if it was a waste of time. the difficulty did not stop me from working my way through career mode; i went through each race completing all the challenges, and collecting all the tokens before going on to the next race. something that bothers me is some parts of the track editor. one is, you can not make the pop-up blocks only animate once( only 1 person has to activate it) and then stay how it is. another is an option to allow underwater tunnels :) i do hope that new themes will be coming soon though, like a neon city or something

I think just exactly the same @revolvecontrol, I got all the trophies (working in modnation superstar and the 250000 create xp)but adding a harder difficulty and trophies are a very good chance to overcome this issue.

Don’t worry, It’s Murphy’s law :P …. besides man, don’t be sad, just as cowboy mod (previously preoder exclusive as mystery mod) I bet they will allow to purchase as DLC in the psn store in a near future… and.. it seems this game has a strong fan feedback from UFG and sony, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they make another code giveaway party.

I have a doubt, with the new system evaluation of creating points, now how do we earn more slots to publish our stuff?… before the implementation, it was at 1,000create XP, then at 5,000create XP, but now?? how do we earn more slots?
