This Wednesday, August 4th at 2:00am (Pacific Time), the ModNation Racers Title Update 1.02 goes live improving many of the issues the community has been concerned about. On behalf of UFG, we want to thank everyone for supporting ModNation and being patient as we’ve worked hard to make it the best experience possible. If you didn’t see the patch details on the IGN last Friday, here is a run down:
Update: Title Update 1.02 for ModNation Racers unfortunately introduced an issue that affects online XP Races and XP Series. We’ve identified the cause and are quickly working on a solution to resolve the issue. We intend on updating the ModNation Community on the release of this fix as soon as possible.
Load Time Improvements
While there are still loads, you will see decreases in load times throughout the game.
New “Casual” Difficulty Mode
We’ve added a “casual” difficulty setting in the options screen.
Challenge friends in XP Series
We’ve added the ability to invite your friends to XP Races & Series.
No more “Hot Lap” Cheaters
We fixed a bug that allowed players to cut the track and post unbeatable times in Hot Lap.
Get into Online Races Quicker
Along with improved load times, we’ve removed the online game room from the ModSpot so you can get into the race faster.
Improved Server Stability
We’ve addressed issues to improve intermittent disconnects that players were experiencing.
Three Challenges now more attainable
We wanted to provide you challenges, but didn’t want to sacrifice fun. We found 3 challenges that proved extremely difficult and changed the conditions to complete them. This includes:
- Devastator takedown on Wild Run
- Devastator takedown on Modobahn
- Sideswipe 3 opponents on the cliff side on Fracture
The Tin Bucket Unlocked!
Finally this is an item is unlocked and available to everyone by default.
Collector Card Improvement
Now see all player creations in their entirety.
Improvements to ModNation Racers don’t stop here, we are still constantly listening to the community and are committed to making ModNation Racers one of the most enjoyable experiences you’ll have on your PS3.

i think when they give away more codes in the future i belive they should give them away through e-mail so when u go to enter the codes they’re not already entered
lol at all the comments with the promise of codes for the bonus mods.
Wish those of us who actually completed the career before the nerf got some sort of reward for that frustration.
Overall though I do hope the patch really does improve things.
Oh and if I get picked, I already have Ratchet and Clank, heh. <__>
I’ve downloaded the update…and the improvement in loading times definately make the game more playable !! Will take a bit more playing to see if any of the other changes make a difference…one thumb up from me…!!

loading times stil long you took off maybe a second.
Casual mode in career im still gettin sideswepted or blow up every 10 sec, so it makes it almost impossible to get challenges done in like the last 10 races,
so the patch is a fail im going back to playing inFAMOUS
The 1.02 patch made things worse for me. I could connect online, but can’t play anyone in XP or Series because it freezes up on me. When I quit the game, it reboots my PS3. Is this the patch that killed the game…? I’m very dissapointed and want a response from Ramone Russell…Please email me at [DELETED]. I’d greatly appreciate the Rachet and Nathan Drake mods as well.
There is a problem with the online xp series. Two times now when i go to load it it freezes on me. I hope this gets addressed The online race itself worked fine but the series isnt working.

as the patch, I just wanted the fixes of the hotlaps cheaters, the missing seat and improvements on creating earnings, that’s it, those who wanted the challenges been changed for easy ones.. come on!!!.. you asked infinity ward to change the spec op killing 15 juggernauts challenge ´cause is hard and you can’t do it??… no way!!!! yes, they are hard, but they are totally attainable.. i’ve got all the challenges and beat the single player championship in a week, in my opinion, making the game easier for users is such a mistake, casual mode difficulty it’s ok I guess, for not skills racers, but making the challenges easier??…
Hope that the series frozen problem get solved by the end of the day :S, lots of people are complaining of it from different countries.

Hey, Modnation racers patch is live, it seems the loading time are barely improved, but there is a host of new issues. The xp single race is broken, 3 out of the 5 times i tried to sign in to a race my ps3 froze. Also, i went to look at my favorited creators and it jsut took so long to load i gave up (over 2 minutes!)
I haven’t noticed that much of a difference in the loading times: it still takes a long time to get to the title screen, I haven’t tried an XP series event, but after hearing about the freezing issues, I’m a little leary of trying to play the game now
still love the game but the patch is a complete fail
What I would really like to see is the ability to load other racers and karts from the other user accounts on your PS3.

These improvements saves me a lot and it’s great that the loading times are faster now but, i can’t go on my breaks between loading times, lol. I like the New York one i guess i have to play that:)

seems there are issues with the patch reported everywere, what i have hear the most is the the ps3 freezes when trying to play an XP race or series. We need to keep reporting this so they fix it quick. I havent try the patch yet (so i havent play the game at all) untill i hear something from them.
the things go back to normal in xp races and series yesterday… just played at night it went ok… the maintainment of servers was longer yesterday…
About the loading times, i’ve no problems with it, it gives me a break for drink, go to wc, check out other things in the lap, etc.. What is the problem with 30 seconds of loading?… you won’t die with it…
I was playing around midnight (UTC-6.00) and my PS3 kept freezing.

I really like these changes, but maybe they could’ve made the island dash 4000 air points more attainable.
I LOVE UFG! You and Media Molecule are the best Developers i’ve evur seen! Listening to players, taking their ideas, making fun stickers! This update has really helped me! I used to have bad server stability but now ME PLAY ONLINE GOOD(actually i sometimes had problems but i could never get the DLC shop browser to work)
I request from UFG is a costume since the new Megaman Universe game is coming out, make a Classic Megaman Costume! I will TOTALLY buy that!

so good job guys, hard work yesterday but it worth it… now the game is going fluently ;)

The hot lap cheat/glitch WAS fixed, the 0.00 times is a seperate bug.
The tin bucket is in the karts seats section.

@1639 It’s not for PSP, it’s for PS3. Whoever talks about the PSP version, UFG did’nt work on it, San Deigo Studios did.
