Gamescom in PlayStationHome

Week three of the Empire Strikes Back 30th anniversary celebration continues with even more Star Wars items releasing into the ever-evolving world of PlayStation Home. We’re talking AT-AT tables, a Probe Droid chandelier, and even a Wompa skin rug. And if you really want to show the world how much of a Star Wars fanboy (or fangirl) you are, you can pick up the “Everything” Empire Strikes Back 30th Anniversary bundle, available (along with a ton of other awesome Star Wars content) from the LucasArts store in the PlayStation Home Mall.

Visit the Costumes store in the PlayStation Home Mall and transform yourself into a bonafide PlayStation Home superhero or supervillain. Choose from the Red Raven and Epsilon Viper costumes (available for the guys) or the Nocturne and Wild Scarlet costumes (for the gals). Grab the bundles at a super-low price and then take to the streets of PlayStation Home where you can wow civilians with your newfound super-gear!

While you are at it, head to Central Plaza, where you can get a free Subway Fiery Footlong t-shirt and watch a special video of the Los Angeles Clippers’ own Blake Griffin, airing in the PlayStation Home Theater. Join the Subway Fiery Footlong Frenzy and you could win PlayStation games and hardware before they appear on shelves. You heard me – you can be the first of all your friends to own LittleBigPlanet 2, LBP2 Collector’s Edition, Gran Turismo 5, GT5 Collector’s Edition, PlayStation Move hardware and software bundles, and the Invizimals PSP bundle. Simply collect game codes at Subway restaurants and enter on SubwayFreshBuzz.com. There’s literally a prize every minute!

Top Gun the video game has launched on the PlayStation Network. To celebrate, we’re offering you a chance to win the game, the movie and two exclusive Top Gun t-shirts for your PlayStation Home avatar. Join the Top Gun Scavenger Hunt, being held in Central Plaza starting tomorrow, August 19th. Check out the official Rules and Regulations at the end of this post, and be sure to download the Top Gun game from the PlayStation Store before August 24th in order to receive a free limited edition flight suit for your PlayStation Home avatar!

Before I head out of here, I’d like to bring your attention to a new game that VeeMee (makers of the London Pub personal space, Pool personal games, and other hit pieces of PlayStation Home content) will be releasing in the very near future. Think: Scrabble…but this time you wear your answers.

Here’s how it works: Pick up the AlphabeTees Game Pack (made up of the 26 words of the Alphabet including some punctuation) from the PlayStation Home Mall. Each day a new question will be shown on the Central Plaza Jumbotron. Get together with your friends to form the answer, take a photo, and then upload directly to the AlphabeTees competition entry portal (located under the Central Plaza Jumbotron). The winning entry will then be shown on the Central Plaza Jumbotron screen the following day so that everyone in PlayStation Home knows just how skilled you are!

Alphabetees in PlayStation Home for PS3

To get everyone into the swing of things AlphabeTees will be giving away a free sample pack of 5 letters from the AlphabeTees game point in Central Plaza. We’ll update you with more details (including release dates) on this Blog, so keep your eyes peeled.

See you in Home!

  • I missed the E3 event so this should be glorious.

  • So no Move space at the Event’s Podium? :(

  • What about our Fiery Footlong sub for our avatar?

    • No worries – we’ll be giving out the sub item as well – just not in Central Plaza. I’d suggest you keep your eyes on this Blog as well as the official PlayStatuon Twitter and Facebook accounts in coming days ;)

  • Nice! Very great update Locust_Star. So this IS coming for sure, right? Will this space have any rewards?

  • Ummm… Locust, is there REALLY 26 words in the alphabet??? lol

  • No Scavenger Hunt for Canada? :(

  • wait, so were not getting the ps move space event? smh… but this update is cool though.. not so bad ;)

  • Would like to know about the Move Space as well Locust. This update does look cool however!

  • @ stardeth (4)

You beat me to it- 26 “words” of the alphabet… XD

Anyway, I’ll stop in later today. Thanks for the update.

  • Where’s Move event and K & L items?

  • Oh right, and if that’s “including” some punctuation, which letters did you cut out? I hope it’s “q”- I always hated that little s.o.b., always requiring a “u” like some sort of safety blanket. It’s a leech.

  • Not too keen on buying a shirt for every letter.. estimated price?

    • The shirts are sold in a bundle/pack for $2.49. They are not sold separately. That averages out to less than $0.10 per t-shirt :)

  • no ps move space :'(

  • Sounds like a great update! I cant wait to check it out.

  • Wait, so you have to buy a shirt with a letter on it?

  • That’s pretty friggan awesome!!

  • Great update! Hey, I dream about a ‘Hoth Ice Planet’ personal or public space, to go along with all the 30th Anniversary costumes and items… maybe with an ‘Escape the Ice Cave game’ or Snowspeeder Challenge or some other mini game.

  • @footballrule
Yes however a “sample pack” of 5 different lettered shirts will be available for free. Or at least so says the blog post. :)

  • Ok now you have to find a way to allow PSP owners to access Playstation Home.

  • Addendum: With all the winter clothing, how about a winter space?

  • 1. No Love for Canada, SUCKS!
    2. No Move Space, SUCKS!
    3. No K&L items, SUCKS!
    4. No In Home Party Chat yet, SUCKS!
    5. No Red Dead Redemption space yet, SUCKS!
    6. No micro hovercrafts, shrinking potions or anything to that nature yet, SUCKS!
    7. Central Plaza still the LAGGIEST place on Home, SUCKS!

These Seven things need to be resolved ASAP! Then Home will be fairly complete.

  • Pretty good update. Lots of stuff to do tomorrow.

  • Is the limited edition flight suit from purchasing the TG game exclusive and won’t be available again?

  • wheres the new Motorstorm Apocalypse Gameplay video ? EVO demoed a new track yesterday and i cant find footage anywhere

  • 26 “words” of the alphabet? LOL! Letters, L_C, letters! All good though. Although I’m kinda worried about people spelling out cuss words here and there.

    What kind of punctuations t-shirts are we getting? “!” “?” “…” “:” “(” “)”

    • I don’t have a full list on-hand, but the punctuation shirts include commas, periods, and so on. I’ll get a full list together for when the content launches.

  • Dang, much much too late. D’oh. Sorry… Still interested in the punctuation t-shirts though.

  • LMAO that Wampa Rug is hilarious!

  • Looks AWESOME! Can’t wait for the Star Wars furniture!

  • This is a great update, but…

Move space? Will there ever be a Move space? Like with the Move and the event and stuff? Not to write off what we’re getting, because that’s cool, but I think a bunch of us want the Move space.

    In closing, Move space.

  • This update looks great!! but what happened to the playstation move space we were getting? and what about new IREM updates? japan has 6 spaces for IREM and way more content. When do we get a new update?

  • I need help…

I’m having problems starting up Home… Everytime I start it, I’m told to install an update. After I click yes my system restart with no update. This happens every time I try to use Home. Any suggestions on how to solve this? If this keeps happening, I eventually uninstall this home.

    • Hey Eddie,

Here is some info from our forums that will help you navigate your way around this issue:

“When greeted with the 1.36 Patch notification screen, wait for the yellow HDD activity light on your PS3 to stop flashing before pressing any buttons.

Once the yellow HDD access light has stopped blinking, press [CROSS] to start the install process. The update patch download should then begin as usual.

If you press any buttons before the yellow HDD access light stops flashing, your PS3 will restart and you will need to repeat this process from the beginning.”

  • @eddieMX07

On the first screen that tells you to update press “O” (circle) to bypass the message. Eventually you’ll get to another next screen that tells you to go ahead with the update; do so as you normally would.

  • I hope you guys have the Move event space as well, I’ve been waiting for it since last week.

  • Great Update Locust. I can already see what kind of costumes I will be able to put together from those Super Hero outfits. The new Star Wars Furniture looks really sweet as well. I’m sure I will be checking out the Gamescom space tomorrow as well.

Do you have any word on any upcoming items for God of War and Fat Prncess (Besides the Throne we already have)? I’m looking forward to the day when you release any items, clothing and Personal Spaces based off of these two franchises.

Anyway, good work with this weeks update. I will definitely be checking this stuff out.

  • 8)

  • So what’s the deal with the Star Wars scavenger hunt? I have two parts to this code.. Any hints to where the 3rd part may be?

  • WHAT!!! No contests and sweepstakes are allowed in Canada???

    Can you be more specific?

    Locust_Star | August 18th, 2010 at 2:20 pm
Sorry :( This is because of Canadian law that restricts contests, sweepstakes, and other such events.

  • i bought the TOPGUN game from ps store. when is the suit coming out for it?

    • You will be emailed a voucher code that will unlock the items. This will occur after the 24th, when the promotion ends.

  • Thanks for the replies, Locust. Move event.

Out of kindness to my fellow gamers, I suggest keeping an eye on Subway’s Twitter as well. Tomorrow and Friday, they’ll be giving away LBP2 and gift cards to the people who are fast enough to respond to their Tweets.

  • Locust_Star Found it! LOL! I’m not going to spoil it, but the reward is funny.

  • All the good stuff I’m missing because my PS3 is dead. Just going to have to save and get the new 350g/Move bundle next month. Just mad I missed all the Star Wars stuff this month. :(

  • @Coopertroopa, reward for what?

  • @Footballrule The last 3 weeks they have had hidden part of a redeeming code for a Star Wars prize. The final part of the code is up and the prize is pretty funny.
