Hi everyone, as we announced previously, the PS3 system software update (v3.50) is adding support for Blu-ray 3D Disc Playback, and it will be released shortly.
Additional new features in the 3.50 update include:
- Facebook Integration: Developers will be able to create PS3 games that have deep interaction with Facebook. Once compatible PS3 titles are available, PS3 users can choose to access their information on Facebook – including user name, profile, photos and friends list – to enhance their gameplay experience.
- Grief Reporting Function: Users can send claim reports directly from the XMB for any inappropriate messages they receive from other PlayStation Network users. This feature is accessible from the option menu of the messages list in the FRIENDS category.

Hi, I have a big problem with the update, since I updated my ps3 my controller are no more detected by bluethooth I have to usb the usb cable and I have both the 1 and 2 lights turning on and off on all my controller what is happening???

Basically, the equivalent to the RROD Red Ring Of Death on XBOX360. Happened to my launch model 60GB PS3 a few months ago.

I will say the grief reporting thing is good, I’m tired of spammers, but just like every other social network in the world, u report them and the MODs do…. nothing. it’ll be the same with this, watch.
@Thesniper hahaha that happends to me all the time ok take ur controller behind it have a little hole with a little bottom search something to press it (i use clips) them connect ur controller again

I’m sorry. I can’t sit here and listen to people brown nose Sony when it’s obvious Sony has repeatedly screwed things up this console generation and it’s obvious they don’t care what the consumers want.
Every update, the things I mentioned are always requested at one point or another (and Other OS). It’s obvious to me that those are the features the PS3 owners actually care about and want. So why should we kiss Sony’s ass when it’s blatantly obvious they don’t care about what we want. Only our money.
I personally couldn’t care less if we ever saw PS2 emulation, cross game chat, other OS, Netflix, or anything else. I’m just tired of Sony cranking out one pointless firmware update after another with more useless features that most people aren’t going to use. I’m merely calling Sony out at this point.

I would like more detail on the 3D-Bluray playback regarding lossless audio and BD-J.
Let’s take a look at Playstation Blog Share … From the Top 10 most wished things, except for the Team ICO wish, non of them are coming true … Hummmm… From all the wishes from there, not even 1% are taken to account … Still no DivX HD (MKV) support, still no SkyPe, still no cross game chat …

God, stop complaining about Cross Game Chat, if its that much of an issue learn to use a cell phone or Skype. It’s not difficult. It’ll be added when its added.
I agree, with you 100%….. There are 100’s of other changes or additions that I would rather see sony working on
Thanks again Sony for wasting my GAMING time downloading some useless update. I don’t use my PS3 for watching Blu-Ray movies(DVD is fine enough for me).
Can we get the option to uncheck portions of these silly firmware updates we don’t want sometime soon? That would be REALLY useful.

I always laugh at the people that say cross game chat is pointless or stupid. Maybe to some of you it is but to a lot of people it would be a well used feature. Plus if Sony did add it you do know you would have the option to use or not. If someone were to send you an invite to XGC you can always decline. Its not like your going to be forced into using it.

It’s not just 1 I have 4 controllers they ALL have this problem The 1 and 2 light is on and off in the same time when I use the usb and they are not detected by the ps3 when I try to use bluethooth lord had mercy I just discover the first bug of this update THANKS A LOT SONY
I have to agree with many here. I really wish Sony would hurry up and push out an update with disc-less Netflix soon. I really don’t want to pay for Xbox Live Gold anymore and hate having to pop in a disc when I want to just watch something on Netflix.
I hope no one on the East Coast stayed up late on a worknight for this promised Store Update. Good grief, Sony! Time your updates and downtime better next time!

There is a known issue with the discs used for the netflix application. The discs are very sensitive to light and heat causing the blue laser to leave yellow scorch marks on the data track. Just because you haven’t had the problem doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. There are recorded incedents of this happening which a simple google search would have shown you. Also, if you have used the disc for more than 200 hours, check the inside data ring of your netflix disc to see the issue for yourself. It shows up as a yellowing of the data track.
I hope someone in the sony office is reading this, this update BRING A BUG THAT PREVENT YOUR CONTROLLER FROM BEING DETECTED BY BLUETHOOTH WHEN YOU USE USB 2 LIGHT ARE ON INSTEAD OF 1

You should hook your controllers up to the PS3 with a USB cable and hit the PS button to re-sync them. That may fix it.

Doesn’t work ………….It’s a bug, I repeat 2 lights are on the controllers instead of one and all my four controller have this pb it’s the UPDATE that brang this probleme to my ps3 now I have to erase everything…….. Damn sony………..

how many controllers do you have on? Is your psp also attached? Do you have any move controllers on? Two lights usually signify that it is the 5th controller… Just trying to trouble shoot this with you. I haven’t been able to reproduce it. I’m under the impression that you held the reset button on your controller and didn’t press the ps button again on the controller until it was plugged back into the ps3?
Can we use the grief report to report Sony for inconsistent PSN updates? I still do not understand why you guys are always so damn late. Nintendo and Microsoft seem to have no problem updating on at the same time every Monday and Wednesday.
