Long time no see, everyone! It seems like only yesterday we were talking about the original Valkyria Chronicles, the Yakuza series, and the announcement of Valkyria Chronicles II for the west. Today, we’re proud to announce that our massive 22 Mission DLC Pack for Valkyria Chronicles II is going live this afternoon on the PlayStation Store, and you can pick it up at an awesome value of $4.99!

If you’ve been following our Community BLiTZ over on the SEGA blogs, we’ve been updating almost every day with free codes to unlock new characters and tank stickers in the game. Today, because we love you guys, we’ve teamed up with Jeff and the crew here at the PS. Blog to post our BLiTZ Finale exclusively here – and with it, four brand new codes for you to enjoy!

Many of these codes are exclusive to the western version of the game. You can find all four codes in the Lotte Insider’s linked here, and also below:

You can enter these codes in the Extras section from the title screen (under “Password”), and yes, they *are* case sensitive!

Those of you savvy about the Japanese release might have also noticed that instead of charging $1 or so per mission, as was the case there, we have bundled all 22 of today’s DLC missions together and then made the price about as awesome as possible, at $4.99 – a little thank you to everyone here in the west who did their part, and who continue to support the success of Valkyria Chronicles here in the US and across Europe. There are few to no communities greater than the Valkyria community in terms of massive support and dedication, in my eyes.

Thank you guys for making all of the hard work that each of our teams – from the developers in Japan all the way to our teams in the US and Europe – worth every ounce of effort.

For all of you who have been with us from the first day a little thing called the ‘Community BLiTZ’ began, to those of you who are just reading about this for the first time – thank you for sticking with us. If you’ve never experienced the glory of Valkyria Chronicles yet – and readers, back me up here in the comments if you agree – you owe it to yourself to check one of the PlayStation’s best exclusive franchises.

As the codes go out and the DLC finally goes live, we proclaim amidst the softening roar of tanks, the echoes of fading footsteps, and the settling dust, five words that for us contain both happiness and sadness:

The Community BLiTZ is complete!

  • I’ve never understood what the big deal is about trophies. As many people have mentioned, since VC1 has its own medals system, what’s the big deal about it not having trophy support? Is seeing the little message in the corner of the screen saying you got a trophy really that appealing to people?

  • @101: Some people like them, some people don’t… That’s just really how it is…

Couldn’t agree more. I really think they should have published two versions, one with English and one with Japanese audio. Overall I loved the original voices to bits and not having them in VC2 was a major downer. Especially since some of the voices were so iconic for fans of anime in general, like Maximillian. It kills me that I can’t hear his voice in VC2 anymore, since I actually dislike his English voice. Same thing with all the original VC1 chars, they just don’t feel the same without their “correct” voices(Though I can’t but help grinning when Selvaria invokes the fighting words ” I invite you to try” with that deliciously sarcastic tone.)

Overall VC2 is a positive suprise, since they were able to turn some of the shortcomings of the PSP VS PS3 into actual and very good gameplay elements, like the gateway camps and pretty much all of the new stuff is totally awesome. I just can’t help thinking that this great game would be greater still if the makers had not taken the “easy” way out and stayed with PS3 instead of going PSP. If they ever wise up and publish some sort of PS3 remake of VC2+ for PS3, I’ll among the first in line to get ’em.

  • Didn’t get a chance till now to post, but I absolutely love the VC series. Although i admit it was a bit disappointing for VC II to be on psp, but being a fan that loves the series I’ll always show my support. Heck I bought VC 1 before i even had a PS3! I do hope to see this series return for PS3 someday, but for now VC II will do especially with the gameplay. Looking forward to the next one even if its on psp. Oh do please keep us updated if there is any news of VCIII coming to the US

  • I haven’t gotten VC2 (still looking for a job so I can afford it), but I have one question. Is there, or will there be a code to get Miku (teh Vocaloid) as a playable character, seeing as you could get Miku hair in Phantasy Star Portable 2.

C’mon Sega! Let Miku shoot some people!!

  • still no update about characters like Ramal, Mintz, Julius and Anime Alicia?

  • VC series – one of the greatest strategy/RPG game ever released! Thank you, SEGA!
I’ve bought VC2 in the first day, and haven’t completed it yet :)) But I can say, that along with Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Valkyrie Chronicles 2 – greatest games ever released on PSP system. I’m looking forward for Valkyrie Chronicles III, Aaron, please , provide us, community of the fans, with info about US/Eu release of Unrecorded Chronicles ASAP! ;)
Only one aspect makes me sad about US/Eu release of VC2 – absense of original voices… UMD size is about 1.5 Gb, VC2 takes only about 1 Gb… there was no problem to leave original dub for the fans (500 mb free, guys!), as SEGA made in VC on PS3. Maybe you give us DLC with original dub? I even ready to buy it for about few bucks, up to 5 I think!

Oh, and yeah, please, give us Anime Alicia as playable character, she’s sooooo cute! And Rosie… :))

With Best regards from Ukraine, Europe!

  • Rosie can be unlocked by getting shocktrooper level to 50

  • I’m waiting for the rest of the VC2 codes, this can’t be the last ones left. Japan got them we should too!!!

  • ***PLEASE REPLY AARON***

I’m big fan of VC, especially the original. I know this has been asked countless times and I’ve read many of your replies. Back in 2009, you said you wouldn’t string people along if there was any hope, is it time I lose all hope? It would be nice to have a definitive answer, even though I may not want to hear it.

If Naughty Dog can provide a trophy patch on Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune medals then I’m sure Sega can do the same with VC’s decorations?

Please tell me I should give up.

    Thanks,

  • Aaron, we love Valkyria and would love it if we could get Trophy support for Valkyria Chronicles. That addition may boost sales and build steam for the series in light of the future release of Valkyria Chronicles 3.
