Ummmm is it impossible for Sony to update the web browser??? It’s sad that my phone’s (Evo) browser surpasses the browser on the PS3. At the very least flashplayer needs to be updated!

and its another security patch then i wont update my ps3 id go for pirates cause they make better applications than you no offense but my friend showed me many features it has.

Its too bad all these security updates, yet they cant just give us the option to be able to report people that we know are doing things wrong.
And anyways..another update that doesnt do anything that the users want.
If Sony really wants to stick it to the pirates, they need to release an update that has an awesome new feature or two along with the security patches. As it stands now, pirates have no reason to download 3.55. All it does is stop them from pirating, which they will know, and they won’t download it because it doesn’t do anything else. So everyone who is not pirating downloads an update that does nothing, and everyone who is pirating skips the update and keeps on pirating. Lose-lose situation obviously.
Now if Sony came out with FW 4.00 that had a completely reworked XMB that runs much faster, has auto-syncing trophies, cross game chat, free PS2 backwards compatibility for everyone who doesn’t have one of the old PS3s, separate PSN logins for each controller at the same time, and more (just read the top ideas on the share blog and pick your favorites if you want; point is loads of new and awesome features) and now they put the pirate’s b*lls in a vice. Do they stay on 3.41 just for free games, or do they update and get the new stuff? Or do they buy a new PS3 and do both (which is not ideal but still money for Sony)?
I’m still waiting for an updare to come that will allow us to put a longer comment. I mean whats the point of having a long white box if i can barely use half of it to leave a message. I can only abbreviate so many words.
the reason people pirate in the first place is so they can get the features Sony is too cheap and lazy to give us.
If Sony would start giving us new features faster this stuff wouldn’t happen, or would happen less.
So they push and update for something that is ultimately their own fault anyways.
Well said hopefully someone else at sony will actually listen to him.

I appreciate this update but honestly can u please put some new features in updates. All of the updates have been minor in features. The features that are in d update are minor to us. There are features like voice messaging, cross game chat, see friends friends list and a faster and more efficient in game xmb. Also minor things like a message counter, game starts up when ps3is turned on automatically. Also another feature I would like would be appearing offline and status updates like facebook.
cmon sony…. the hackers are going to hack whether you like it or not. for god sakes they can hack with your own controllers… wasting my harddrive space and my time..
personally i’d rather have these dbags out of the community rather than another pointless feature that i’ll prob never use
the most useful thing i’ve heard mentioned so far is a faster xmb or a faster msg’n system
maybe 2 out of every 15 people i run into on psn has a headset on thats acutally says anything relevant and half the time i ask people if they got 1 they always go “Oh i lost it” or “its charging”

Pirates ruined GT5? Really? Amazing, considering we can’t run it. Pirates can’t play games that require 3.5 yet.
i’d rather have a straight chat p2p system and scrap the old msg system but thats about it

Its not for cheap people its for stupid people.. Im unemployed atm and im not even remotely desperate to jailbreak my ps3 .. i spent too much money on it and im on my 2nd system and i’d really rather not replace it
Fix the browser at least. Replace that ancient piece of crap browser and get Google Chrome on here, or any Webkit browser would do.
Hey sony these security updates arent doing jack to prevent the hackers and modders from doing anything so why dont u work on adding some features for all the legitimate PS3 owners!

Y’know, not everyone wants to use a hacked PS3 to play pirated games. There are some of us who simply want to do innocuous things such as use translation patches.
Of course, I haven’t jailbroken mine, nor do I plan to do so, but I can’t say I approve of this update.
DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS PATCH, I downlaoded it and now my PS3 is constantly frozen on a screen that says An error has occurred. (8002F333) and it won’t go anywhere from there, I have even tried holding down the power button until you get to the screen where you can restore your PS3 and I still get the same message, Someone please help

Release an update to fix the sync problems with some LED TVs.
Personally I have the LG LE5400 series, when the games are running in 1080p suddenly start to blink the video.

Instead of annoying your legitimate customers with frequent and completely useless updates, can you try to entice people to stick with official firmware? Playstation 2 backwards compatibility looks like the #1 requested feature on SCEA’s Blog share. Just a start.
Fire up some ban-waves too, people are cheating by getting all trophies on hacked PS3s only to sync up their account. :/

If you feel comfortable enough to try it and know how to .. take your ps3 hard drive out of your ps3 and hook it up to a pc or put it in a laptop and format the drive in windows then put it back into your ps3 and format it in the ps3 and let it re-download the firmware
for some reason back in like 3.30 or 3.40 1 of my ps3’s got stuck in a constant update loop and this worked to get rid of it

I heard it will prevent Jailbreaking the PS3. Not 100% for sure.
I heard that NetFlix paid for WebKit to be ported to the PS3 in order to support the new NetFlix interface in the PS3… WHY not use THAT as a “new browser” instead of the pile of software currently included? While we’re at it how about OGG support for the music part, and letting independent developers write cool stuff for your console that just does “everything” (except what I would like it to do and know the hardware is fully capable of…)

I personally don’t use any wholes found in the system for piracy, and I know many others. But go ahead, keep enjoying your sub par system. Sony won’t be removing features from me again.
I just recently became a Playstation Plus member and I thought that was to auto-download the updates without me finding out about it the next time I turn on my PS3…I guess that was just a dream that that was supposed to happen?

The update was cool what’ does it do?
You know what would be a good idea sony? Go to the hackers and tell them, “come write a new firmware update for us and put what ever you want in it, you cannot put in this and this because it is illegeal but everything else is fine” that’s all they would need to do and then everything would be good again and sony would be able to sue the living hell out of the hackers who continue to give people illegal features.

this new update sucks and i noticed immediately because you can no longer play your music while on the internet or looking through your photos,it wouldve been nice if you added the ability to listen to it during gameplay-but no you had to take away one of the things i liked the most, another thing you could add that would be badass is the ability to upload your own videos and add your own music to it instead of those sampler tracks- it seems like you guys are just taking everything i like about the ps3 away first the other os now the music thing( i know it may not seem too important but i appreciate the little things) but i must say kudos to the netflix app i appreciate that.
i hope that you guys bring back those things i consider important because ive really been considering buying an xbox lately and selling my ps3 but i havent because it has sentimental value to me but if it has nothing on it i want or enjoy using why bother when the xbox does?
System updated and now the L2/R2 triggers no longer work in GT5. WTF!? 2 controllers, both worked fine before the update. Seriously, WTF?

In the war called “Sony vs Hackers” shouldn’t we, the normal updating users, receive something beside a security patch? Hackers will not update anyhow, and if we are updating it means we don’t want to use the hacks, so I think it would be fair that beside the security patch, we could get some more from the FW’s, like MKV support, cross game chat, better facebook apps and so on … I really think that there are several updates that would decrease the hacking mood of the users …
Sony said on Tuesday that the release of PS3 update version 3.55 added a security patch to prevent hackers to crack the firmware like what happened in 3.50 version.
Honestly, I don’t understand why so many people got worked up over this. It’s ridiculous. We all knew that we wouldn’t get any new features, it’s just not going to happen. YET!

When/if FW v3.55 is broken, Sony will release 3.5x or 3.60. You can bet on that. And why? To protect their proprietary PS3 system and it’s software.
Skip all the cliche’ reasons to pirate games and think, because this is a real situation with classic action/reaction results.
IT DOES take away Sony’s resources (time, codeing, money, investigating JB+ other methods etc etc et cetera!) to combat this. It takes away from focusing on what people want in a “proper update”. We ALL want this, but now it’s going to be even slower thanks to this situation. So if anyone wants to throw stones, aim at the ones using Jailbreak, not Sony…

To have a security fix without notifying the users as to what it is does not make one feel confident in what is ‘secure’ and what is suspect. If the fix was for ‘gifting’ friends is one thing, credit card encryption in the PS Store is another.
I just want the trophy sync’ing bugs that were introduced a few patches ago to be fixed.. seriously we’ve gone without that fix for months and months, when they can patch a security hole so quickly. I want new features, but I want bugs fixed first and foremost! I’ve lost interest in ps3 because this is still broken, and i’ve lost faith in Sony releasing anything other than removal of features and bugs
Wow, really Sony? The xbox 360 updates are probably about 1/4 of the size of yours and they actually ADD features, not take them away. I can see why people Jailbreak their consoles now. Thanks for making me waste time downloading this crappy update.
