LittleBigPlanet 2 Rave Reviews Rolling In, Adventure Trailer

80 3

Starting yesterday, game journalists began posting their final reviews of LittleBigPlanet 2. So far, the reactions have been fantastic! Gaming web sites have given LBP2 extremely high marks and flattering compliments, including IGN (9/10, Editor’s Choice), Game Informer (9.5/10), 1UP (A-), GamePro (5/5), Joystiq (5/5), WIRED Geek Dad (no score, just plenty of praise), and MTV Multiplayer (ditto)—just to name a few!

With so much excitement swirling around LittleBigPlanet 2’s January 18th release exclusively on the PS3, we also wanted to share a new trailer highlighting the many adventures Sackboy will face. Check it out above!

And here are a few choice quotes to give you a sense of what the gaming press is saying about Media Molecule’s latest game.

“With this sequel, Media Molecule gives players a bottomless toybox, and I can’t remember the last time a game had such a relentless grip on my imagination.”Game Informer

“There were moments where I was giddy over how fun it was, so the fact that you have complete access to these newfound creation abilities is impressive to say the least.”IGN

“LBP2 has improved its creation tools in just about every way. Now it’s possible not only to create objects and backgrounds but to make entirely new control schemes.”1UP

“There’s just no good reason whatsoever not to dive in and explore the many wild worlds of LittleBigPlanet 2.”GamePro

“The original LittleBigPlanet was a thing of genius. From beginning to end, the game continually impressed, and yet, somehow, LittleBigPlanet 2 manages to improve upon it.”MTV Multiplayer

The wait. She is killing me. And I have to wait longer for my collector’s edition from Amazon! Curses!”

Spunta, for $0.99 you get same day shipping, did you double check your order? I get my Collector’s edition on the 18!

  • Eric;

One thing that hasn’t been clear at all is Move supported in Create mode.

To be clear, what I mean is can I use move to place items/draw. I know that we can’t create games that support move (yet), but my question is on the actual create mode.

Move is a good option for pointer like functionality that would be better on it than by using SixAxis (I think I read mouse and keyboard support will be later, that’s fine).

Appreciate it if somebody from Sony can clarify this, thanks!

  • if Move in Create is on the agenda, i’d assume it would be in a patch similar to the one that allegedly will add mouse support to create mode. it was said in the early days of the beta that mouse support was something they wanted to do, but it was very low priority

  • just played the demo . GREAT STUFF !!! although … it would have been cool to have some of the creation elements to reel me in like MNR did , once i created a track , it went from a “might purchase ” to a “must purchase ” game . as i almost felt obligated to finish what i started … but anyway nice gameplay . perhaps i will give it a go .

  • Just amazing!!. Can’t wait to play this the first one was amazing and so is this one. I loved the demo and can’t wait to play the real thing. MM you deserve every amazing score you get

  • LBP was the first game I got with play PS3, it holds a special place in my collection and I’m sure LBP2 will as well!

  • obra maestra y el primer must have de este 2011 ya quiero tener mi collector edition

  • This reminds me that I have to send a copy of the first game to my Nephew.

When the harsh scoring sites like IGN, 1UP and joystiq give high scores you know the game is something interesting.

The scores look fine, but what really counts are the words, and it looks like they favor the game very well.

  • can’t wait to get this game, one of the first exclusives for PS3 In 2011!!!

    next month….
    KILLZONE 3!!!!

  • 2011 GOTY in the beginning of the year!! I CAN’T WAIT!! oh yeah will there be more Move supported things?

  • All i gotta say is that this was the most amazing trailer i have ever seen for a video game haha! I cannot wait for this game and it will be a first day buy for sure! Also i think they will have to invent a new award for this game called game of the Decade!

  • Is that the District 9 exoskeleton at 0:20? :D

  • Most revolutionary game of this generation, this century, this universe. The title “LittleBigPlanet” is too little for this huge game. They were very modest including the word “little” in it, since there’s absolutely nothing little about it!

They could call a sequel BigHugeUniverse and it would still be a modest title!

  • Day 1 buy for me

  • day one for me too… BUUUUUT!!!! where is my sephiroth Sackboy…? i remember him Mm……. dont u think ive forgotten about him…it was suppose to be for LBP1 yet, no sign of him… whats the hold up? (pls let the hold up be for the announcement of FF7 ps3 remake PLSSSS!!!) if thats not the reason for the holdup, u have a really piss off fan here that even if i love u guys, im still mad…

  • I think I smell a Week 1 Annoucement some time this coming week or the week of the release XP

  • There’s nothing better than to see your own beta levels featured in these trailers. Thanks Mm, This made my day

  • Awesome!!! The first little big planet was simply magickal, the characters, the worlds, the possibilities, i cannot imagine all the great additions MM has added and enhanced at the very same time, Jan 18th here we go baby!!! CE is on its way, Hopefully ^^

  • oh yeah I forgot, PS move compatibility, what more can you ask for hehe…

  • Really looking forward to this but I have 1 very important question: any type of “easy” mode added? I loved the first 1 but only got about maybe halfway through, there was a level with about 8 spinning circles in a row and the last one always threw me into charcoal before I could jump off, then I would run out of lives. I discovered many of the created levels had infinite live checkpoints and had hoped there would be an option to include them here, but Prehistoric Moves dashed those hopes. Also, the CE edition is a birthday present for my 6 year old and he loves the funny ways sackboy dies but he’s not a big fan of restarting the levels.

  • Preordered the CE edition when it was annouced.

Excitement is an understatement and didn’t need reviews to wind me up; however, I read them all anyway. I read how the PS Move is only used on the Pre-Historic levels and you can’t make your own PS Move levels. I mainly game by myself, so that’s not such a big deal, but LBP2 was delayed until January because is wasn’t finished yet. Sounds like to me the game is still not finished.

  • Can’t wait guys. I have an extreme backlog of games, but once I play all of them, LBP 2 is first on my list!

  • Awesome, just awesome. Every trailer just puts a smile on my face. So looking forward to this. I got LBP 1 on day 1, praying and hoping Amazon delivers my CE in the first week of release. The little big realease day is almost here, but it’s not coming fast enough. Curse you time and your steady pace. Can’t wait to play!

  • How much of this can be played with the move controller co-op? Is the prehistoric moves content included with this?

  • Hey Spunta! You don’t have to wait for your order from Amazon!!! For .99 cents you can have release day delivery. I changed my order, you should too.

  • I’m tired of waiting! My friends and I want to know! Where’s Kevin Butler?

Can we expect to see the Kevin Butler LBP2 comercial of total epicness anytime soon?

  • can’t wait. me getting ce version. am ninja in first one. want to be ninja in second one

  • I’m having a REALLY hard time getting excited about this. I mean, LBP has what, 3 mil levels up now? And maybe 200 are any good. LBP2 has all these new features, but all you’re going to see people making is bomb survivals and trophy levels. Everybody and their dog runs up and publishes some garbage level not to create something, but to get the trophies. And LBP2 is just more trophies, and therefor more garbage. I bet we’ll hit 4 mil by May, but the number of actual good levels will have stayed the same. Kudos to everybody who made actual levels BTW.

  • 9 more days!3

  • I think im going to go crazy until LBP2 comes out, even though its 3 days im so excited because LBP is my FAVORITE game ever . I can’t wait to get too see all the new features and to see all the levels and costumes!
