  • @245, they better not change the look, it looks perfect!!

  • I wouldn’t mind the backwards compatibility issues so much if all PSP games were at least on the Store. Clearly, they aren’t (Birth By Sleep).

Still, sounds like an appealing device.

  • good specs. but most of all. what will the graphics be like?

  • #244, that is NOT the price of the PSP2! Sony has yet to say anything about price which will come probably E3.

  • Some minor changes I would make…

    1. I would center the screen so that it’s a little bit closer to the bottom. The current screen has a rather large bezel on the bottom part and no bezel at all on top, if the screen is moved slightly lower so that it’s at the dead center of the device, it would look better. Doing this requires the “Sony Playstation” branding text be made smaller and less conspicuous (which is fine, Apple never really has much branding on their devices and they do just fine).

    2. I would put “Sony” and “Playstation” together next to each other in the same location using the same font, so that text (branding) only appears on the device in one centered location rather than in two.

    3. I would make the device slightly less oval and more rectangular. This probably won’t happen, but imo, it would look better if the device wasn’t quite so oval.

    4. I would indent the analog sticks slightly inward so that they are concave. I think this would make them more comfortable, but it’s possible I’m wrong.

    5. I would implement cross platform play and a unified profile between the PS3 and the PSP2 version of Call of Duty with your ranking, achievements and unlocks carrying over between both versions.

  • This is a phone, correct? What cellphone network is it going to? Say Verizon, and I’ll be buying one :)

  • Does the unit have a standard 3.5 mm earphone jack connection?

  • Jeff Uncharted , Little Deviants , Hot Shot Golf video demos please !!!!!

  • Sony need a UMD to PSN Code exchange program!!

  • Ok can someone please tell me the price because I just went to the gamestop website and it says it’s $1,000 if thats true screw it i’m happy with my old PSP 3,000

  • Question: Does it support the Location Free Player?
Question: Do I get 5 new activations for PSP downloadable titles?

  • When will this be coming out?…I want to get it so bad!!!

  • Listen up to you whiners and groaners quit your bellyaching no one wants to hear it. If you don’t like the new PSP don’t buy it.
Most of you that are complaining all wanted a psp with dual analog stick right? Well you got that. A 5 inch oled touch screen with UI LiveArea is a really nice touch. A rear touch pad, for who knows how many in-game functions it could support, is really great too. And the big one UMD is dead, over, no more, a waste, get it? They cause an unnecessary drain on battery life, longer load times, and more clutter to carry. And that’s comin from someone who has an older psp with several games. I have no problem rebuying those titles either to help Sony out. The NGP is going to be the winning handheld and tomorrow I am going to GameStop and reserving my system. Thank you ever so much Sony and thanks Jeff for the sanscript. Some videos would be really nice too, I wanna see Marcus pimpin this system across the land.

  • @258 That price listing is due to an undefined price you can go to Gamestop and reserve it for 50 bucks down. They are anticipating a price of 299.99 USD.

  • If there is no UMD drive then this will be a colossal failure.

  • UMD is done for Zam and it will only be a colossal failure due to close minded folks such as your self who aren’t willing to try something new and better.

  • I have this Tab open and every time I click on it I want to cry with joy and happiness!!!

  • Q1:What is the Clock Speed of the Processor and GPU?

Q2:What is is the Battery’s Voltage?

Q3:What Type of USB Connection Does it have?

    Q4:Is the Screen Scratch Resistant?

  • Great job on this product, Sony. everything i’ve read about the NGP so far makes me really excited about it. couple this with the glut of awesome exclusive titles for PS3 this year, and the exciting possibilities of what’s going on with Valve and Steam – it’s a great year to be a Sony fanboy!

now just keep the price on this puppy below $300.

  • i hear the price will be 599$
    lol
    good luck with that
    Nintendo wins again
and who is still in last place?

  • This is one portable I’m buying. I’ll finally be able to replace my PSP-1000 I still use. Looks like this thing will have lots of great games too.

  • Why isn’t NGP using cell broadband engine? I thought Sony invested millions (or may billion) on cell processor research and it’s interesting to see that Sony is using other vendors gpu/ cpu.

  • lol a lot of bozos here today. cant wait to pick mine up. 599 for a handheld, hah that cracked me up, thanks! tell apple to suport UMD and maybe Sony will think about it :D

  • FIX THIS!
    http://kotaku.com/5745041/is-electronic-arts-really-not-making-games-for-the-next-psp

EA has improved a lot in the last 3 to 4 years while Activision has become the destroyer of genres and killer of licenses. They are not loved.

  • Looks like the battery life will last around 4-5 hours!

  • Sony, I was sold at “dual analog sticks”. Can’t wait to get this!!!

  • I hope that we can play the new resident evil in the psp 2

  • No touch screen like the iPhone? Hmmmm. Also, aren’t the whole PS3 trophy system compromised because of the hardware hack?

  • That bubble menu is ugly. Please let the XMB still be there…

  • I’ll make a decision on whether to spend my hard earn cash once I know the price. Whats the word on the PS3 hack issue being solved. Sony is pretty notorious when it comes to pricing new gadgets. I’m done being a sucker, no more day one purchase for me.

  • The only thing I’m bummed about is the size, as I’ve been really spoiled by my PSPGo. Still, just look at that glorious screen and those dual sticks :)

One question I have (aside from price & release date) is does the NGP have on-board memory? If so, what is the capacity?

Also, from the pics I couldn’t make out where the flash memory slot is (on the top maybe?).

As long as the NGP is priced right, you’ve got my money.

  • All I need is a price and I’m getting this.
I’m just wondering if old downloadable games will work, and what the final name will be. I know what I’m getting at Christmas…

  • I bet we’re gonna have to knock off a bank to actually afford one of these…

  • FINALLY!!! 3-G support will be for U.S residents also…. right?

  • sony heard my prayers they put the dual analog sticks got better graphics and two cameras the 3ds might wanna watch its back

  • $999.99 on game stop 0_o?

  • What about graphics? Better than original PSP?

  • I just need to know the price: how long till i can get it???

  • its like they mixed a PSP with a PS3 and an iPod Touch 4G with extras, pure epicness, I.MUST.BUY.IT.NOW!!!!

  • so is it a phone n psp?

  • Buying the 3DS in March, so plenty of time to save up for the NGP too.
I like new systems, and the fact that Sony and Ninty are choosing to replace their portables instead of their consoles this year makes me happy.

  • The only way you guys can keep the price down is with 3G carrier subsidies. I’m sort of okay with this, but for the love of god, please don’t make the data plans ridiculous. I already have a cell phone bill, and this will just be an extra 20-40 a month.

  • When does it come out?

  • How about the battery? and when will it release? how about the price? Still use MS or SD card for download game from PStore?

  • Can’t wait for this!!!!!

  • please tell me NGP will have free face chat like the iphone 4 thru wifi

  • 999.00? Where are you morons getting that info? It’s not true so stop repeating it. Also for those who say 3DS is better I think you are smoking crack rocks! From The Early screens of 3DS absolutely nothing stands out that makes me want one besides the games like Icarus and Zelda which could have been done on DSi! The 250 pricepoint for what is essentially a toy isn’t going to get it this time especially if NPG is priced at 299.00! And No Pokemon isn’t going to help them this time!

  • Your bluetooth profile states Stereo audio, Remote Control, and Bluetooth Headset, (A2DP/AVRCP/HSP) but doesn’t say anything about HID or DS3 ps3 controllers. Are these supported like they were on the PSP Go?

Also, will this have TV Output?

Since it has headset support, does that mean that you can use the G3 like a phone, or will the headset just be used for Skype?

  • Okay im certainly not jailbreaking my psp if it has online features, let it have Friends list psp+ps3 & cross game voice chat!! that will blow xbox away
