Hi again! It’s me, Jeff from PopCap. You might remember me from such blog posts as the one I wrote on January 28th in this very space, announcing that Plants Vs Zombies was coming to the PlayStation Network! If you missed that announcement, don’t worry, since I just said it again in that last sentence. So now you’re totally caught up with everyone else and don’t have to feel all left out and ornery! Yay!

So now that we’re all caught up, I have even better news for you today: Plants Vs. Zombies is available NOW (read: soon!) on PSN for a measly $14.99. In a short time, you can close this window this second and start pummeling those infernal, annoying, and dentally-challenged zombies with your loyal, brave army of peashooters and cabbage-pults and gloom shrooms right from the comfort of your very own PlayStation!

Plants vs Zombies for PS3 (PSN)

I know you want details, rather than more of my dribble, so here’s what I can tell you. Plants Vs Zombies has:

  • 50 Adventure levels. The complete, original game.
  • Five modes. Adventure, Puzzle, Mini-Games, Survival, and everyone’s favorite, the bliss-inducing Zen Garden.
  • Co-op and Versus Play. Team up with a friend or challenge them by each choosing a side—plants or zombies.
  • 21 mini-games. Fight the fun-dead in minigames like Zombatany, Wall-nut Bowling and Heavy Weapon.
  • Interactive leaderboard. Upgrade to bigger & better houses as you progress and stroll through the leaderboard neighborhood to see your friends’ digs.
  • 12 Trophies. Earn awesome ornaments to decorate your lawn.

And that’s really all I know. I’ll be happy to stick around to answer questions. Just try to keep it relatively civil because my therapist says I need to avoid hostile situations ever since I punched that stupid old lady next to me on the plane because she wouldn’t give me the armrest.

Oh yeah, and enjoy the game!

  • Okay, forget that. Killzone demo is up!

  • Well, I would be wishing I had the money in my account to buy this right now and getting my free copy of stacking, sony finally blocked the firmware update dns bypass again; so instead I’ll be updating. :(

  • the demo for kz3 is there I’m downloading it now and it is about 1.5gigs 2d version don’t know how big the 3d version since I don’t have a 3d I’m not going to bother downloading it

  • Qore for Feb is out download list :D. Store is slowie updating now. PLUS updated out now too.

  • the 3d demo of kz3 is about 1.5gigs as well

  • Hmmm…that’s abit too expensive for me…I think it’s cheaper by a lot on BigFish.
    I was hoping for a $10 price.

I would have asked you to loan me the five bucks I need, but I already read the Goon comment…..I’d rather not have them show up at my house.

I’ll wait and see if + members get a discount!

  • from the looks of it they are almost done updating it so they should be posting it very soon

  • I blame the zombies for this slow updating.. as they are slowly eating the entire update teams brains.

  • zekececil14, no the guy from that post you showed me is a slight bit better lol

  • @OniJsan
    HEY! I already said that.

  • The pricce is the price… get over it. The game is worth $15 as long as you have a job.

  • Im waiting on the Blog post for the update. I MUST warn Grace about the massive onslaught of complaining gamers comming.

  • Hi there, Kevin Butler here, some of you are probably wondering why Sony has been so late to update the PlayStation Blog tonight. Well the answer is simple… we here at PlayStation were so excited over the release of Plants vs. Zombies that we had an all night kegger party last night. There was all the booze you could drink, all the babes you could mmmmmm, and all the crack you could snort. yes it was a good night for us at PlayStation… I even got me a nice souvenir *holds up red lacy pant— aloons…*

normally, that’s an average Monday night for us anyways, hence why our store updates are always so late… that and to be honest… we really don’t give a crap anyways… we love sitting back and watching you fools dribble over your keyboards in anticipation and post witty comments like this one all over the blog. I’m hoping to reach 5,000 comments before tonight’s update. new record maybe?

Anyways, last night wasn’t like other Monday’s though, no sir. We were waaayyyy overjoyed this time. So we apologize (half-heartedly) in advance (for things that are our fault but we will surely deny, gotta save face somehow) for this delay.

rest assured you can expect the store update some time next week.

    Enjoy! :D

  • zeke we have a right to complain with service like this.

  • @zekececil14:

Zombies must be eating my brain also.

  • I Love Itttttttttt……..

  • Quote from the reply to jgrizzle358 earlier
“Notice that “jgrizzle” is suspiciously close to “Jeff Green.”I should probably choose my aliases better!”

JEFF! That is impersonation of Sony personel! You sir, are violating the User Agreement! D=< lol =D

  • The store has updated. Quit complaining.

  • @210 you dont snort crack!

  • Excuse me, Mr. Jeff Green, do you know if a disc release could happen down the road? I dislike buying games digitally and much prefer a physical copy. The reason I ask is because that “other system” had a physical release as well as a digital release. Thank you!

    • That is a good question! I’d think that the precedent set by THAT OTHER SYSTEM probably does mean there’s a strong chance. I know that PopCap does a lot of business at retail, so I’m sure there are folks in our office actively campaigning for a boxed version. :)

  • @210 lol and I don’t believe that you are Kevin Butler anyways I’m downloading everything that I want because the store is updated they just haven’t post it on the blog yet

  • The front page of the store hasn’t changed, but I’m currently downloading new content, so the update is live it seems; for me at least.

  • I wouldn’t buy anything until the site is updated. Pocket Fighter for example is still at $5.99 even though Capcom-Unity said it would be at $3 for Plus.

  • Stacked is at ‘free’ so it’s ok to dload that one :-)

  • @218 everything that I’m downloading is free

  • Jeff Green.

First off – let me say my first name is also Jeff. Although, my last name is not a color. Though I do find it interesting that your last name happens to be green for a game that is promoting zombies, which are green and plants, which are green.

Anyhow, to the main question. Any plans for a demo?

    • The fact that your first name is also Jeff tells me one thing: Your parents have great taste. Also, that is a clever observation about my last name. The truth is that my real last name was actually Hitler, but that became extremely awkward growing up, especially at my Bar Mitzvah. So we changed it to Green soon after.

Demo: Another fine question. Added to The List. I will report back with my findings.

p.s. I’m sorry about the Hitler joke.

  • Come back soon Jeff. We will miss you. Here’s a waffle from me to you. (>’_’)>#<('_'<)

  • well they finally release ps store update blog

  • Hey J.G., I love it when the bloggers stick around and reply, it make for a great read.

No questions really, but I’d figure I’d share with you my story, to keep you entertained while sticking around.

I love Plants vs. Zombies. I bought the PC version a few months ago, and it’s one of the few games that run smoothly on my old laptop. It was the limited Edition too, so I have the little zombie mini-figure. I love it so~.

    Anyway, my first PS3 arrives tomorrow! unfortunately, somewhere between getting PvZ LE and my PS3 w/ a few games *cough*Neptune/MvC3/LBP2*cough* I seem to have run out of funds for the console version of PvZ. ;x;

So, while you guys definitely have a sale here, I’ll have to wait out for a bit. Don’t worry, it’s not you, I just buy almost all of my PSN games on sale.

Actually… It seems over the course of 3 years, I’ve spent nearly $280 on PSN games, even though I didn’t have a PS3 at the time. o_O

  • this guy is great! makes me wanna buy the game just because of all his replies. And hes still replying….LMAO. Proud PS+ member!

  • To the demo people: Sony charges developers for demos. It’s so many cents per gigabyte for the first 60 days or something I forget. If demos are downloaded hundreds of thousands of times or even millions of times, these fees easily get into 5 and 6 figures.

Many developers think that they can get a better rate of return(sales per $ spent) marketing the game differently or developing an entire new game with that money over releasing a demo.

Until Sony changes this policy, the lack of demos will continue.

There’s always the free one hour trial of the PC version on Popcaps website though. It won’t help you get a feel for the PS3 specific controls etc but hey, it’s better then nothing.

  • Also:

OMG Spoilarz on that last screen shot. Post a pic of the Mother Brain from Super Metriod while you’re at it why don’t cha:p

  • Thank you for providing great entertainment and making me chuckle on this, the day of my daughters wedding.

Kidding about the wedding :P but still had a rough day, reading this post & replies helped. I have PvZ for PC and my sister is definitely going to get it for PS3.

  • I want to ask you to please bring this game to the PSP. I have enjoyed the game on the 360 & if it comes out on the PSP I can play it when I am away from the TV. Plus if you can play PSP games on the NGP. Then I could play Plants Vs Zombies on that too.

That being said you guys/gals at PopCap make great games & I can’t wait to see what you bring out next. Plus if you could bring Gyromancer to the PSP then I would be really happy.

  • Someone handcuff Jeff Green to this blog. Don’t let him leave!

  • It’s a great game but $15 is too much. $5-$10 would be right

  • this game looks tight. its even better on the ps3 than on the computer. i really like this. i have one question, can you play co-op online or offline

  • I just may have to get this! Pixeljunk: Monsters is getting boring after all those years. :P

  • instead of beating up old ladies , you should start beating up kids with no money .

  • If anyone is on the fence and never played this game, you must buy it. It immediately becomes one of the top 5 games on the PSN. I love this game so much I have 3 different versions of it, and am seriously contemplating buying this one too.

  • He Said Rosebud? I watched Citizen Kane on Duke-o-Vision and he said Schwing.

God I hope someone get’s that reference.

  • I really like this game.

I can’t justify the price. I know the work and development that went into it.

Either way I payed for it on the iOS so, I got my moneys worth.

  • I love Plants vs Zombies, but I aleady got it and beat it on the PC for a cheaper price and it came with Peggle and Zuma for free.

If and when the PS3 gets the same treatment, I might pick it up as long as it gets patched in 3D. :)

  • Holdon one second. On the PC, Plants Vs Zombies costs 10$. Why would the price be higher on the consoles?

  • This game has TONS of replay value so $15 is nothing! Hell, you kids pay that for a few maps on some manshooter game!

“PopCap *does* try to please as many people as possible. Kind of like my college girlfriend.”

We must have had the same girlfriend.

  • Hey if it were possible to switch in between my PSP and PS3 I’m pretty well sold. Jeff you’ve just bought my undivided attention for yet another year for just a meager $15. I hope you can sleep soundly at night while I slave away sleepless nights getting the damn tree of knowledge up to 100 feet XD.

  • Wow, I’m wicked impressed with Jeff’s commentary. Will buy anything with this kind of marketing. Wondering is there anything you can’t get away with?

  • Wow! I love PvZ, but $15 is a bit excessive. Maybe if it gets cheaper, I’ll get it.

    And how is this E10? Hahaha, I don’t get it… o_O

  • Why do I have to log-in twice? I logged in initially, browsed, noticed this article and attempted to comment – than was prompted to log-in again within a matter of minutes. Bad.
I wish this had come out on the PS3 a few months ago! I broke down and bought it for the XBOX, even though I have it on my iPhone, and on Steam…so, if you’re wondering if this game is a good buy, consider that I have purchased PvsZ three times! But, I would rather have earned PS3 trophies for this game. =/

  • for psp? sweeeet… how much for the starting price?
