204 3

Forged in Helghan steel! The Drop this week delivers one the most anticipated PS3 titles of the year with Killzone 3. Take on the ruthless Helghast army, armed with your PlayStation Move and 3D glasses and make your way off of the Helghan planet. Make sure to get your last minute reserves in for the Killzone 3 Helghast Edition.

The-Drop-Main-Header

Take on the role of space pirate Grayson Hunt along-side your cyborg partner Ishi Sato in Bulletstorm, as you kill with skill and wreck havoc among meat-eating plants, criminals and feral mutant tribes among the ruins of planet Stygia.

You’ve asked for it loud and clear in the comments every week (deep breath in), I’m eager to announce that Xenogears finally arrives on PSN for PSone this Tuesday. Also, Alien Breed 3 and a quadruple collection of PS minis make their PlayStation debut. Not as handsome as a Helghast Sniper named Vladimir, check out this week’s The Drop.

Killzone 3 (PlayStation Move & 3D Enabled) — Continuing from Killzone 2, players find Emperor Visari, the vicious dictator of the Helghast, dead at the feet of Sev and Rico. However this war is far from won. In the wake of Visari’s death, Helghan has devolved into a world of political scheming, ruthless infighting, and murder.

Now, the two most powerful men on Helghan are fighting for complete and utter dominance while Visari’s vision of Helghan is in jeopardy. With limited supplies and no re-enforcements, the ISA must now fight not to win a war, but to survive a lost one. (Read All Killzone 3 Coverage: Here)

In Bulletstorm, Grayson and Ishi find themselves surrounded by hordes of mutants and flesh eating gangs in an abandoned paradise. They have two objectives: get off the planet alive, and exact revenge on the man who sent them there. (Read All Bulletstorm Coverage: Here)

de Blob 2 (PlayStation Move & 3D Enabled) — In de Blob 2, Comrade Black is back and so is his war on color. That is, until de Blob bounces back in full color-spreading force with his revolution to restore color and life back to the city and its residents.

Knights Contract — In a time of swordsmen and magic, Knights Contract follows the twisted tale of Heinrich, an immortal executioner, and Gretchen, a resurrected witch. Once the victim of Heinrich’s blade by the order of the game’s antagonist, Dr. Faust, Gretchen now has him under her control as the two must work together to rid the land of the supernatural foes who are cursing its people with the black spell of death.

  • Now all we need is Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy IV and VI.

  • Xenogears!!!!!!!!! I already own it, but I am definitely going to back it up. When I bought it used, it was already in bad shape, but I managed to get through it despite the hiccups. This will be great to have for my PS3.

    Hooray!

  • damn!!! and todays my birthday, I just hope i get enough money to buy killzone 3, a navigation controller, and a sharpshooter.

  • F-yeah! Been waiting for Xenogears! Need to recharge my PSN wallet.

deBlob 2 looks interesting, I’ll look into it.

  • Hello!!! Xenogears at least! hehehe… Hey Thx for this Update i’ll enjoy it… i just saw the Comments i don’t know why others are crying about the price… There is a phrase that is “If you want it, then there you go” almost all greatest hits on SE PSOne Classics cost $9.99… And for the PSN Staff please when are you gonna release Dissidia 012 Duodecim Prologus???

  • Xenogears it is

  • @80 “10$ for a PS1 classic!!! You get what you deserve for wanting a game too much. Sony knew you wanted it so they knew you’ll be getting it even if it was more expensive than other PS1 classics.”

You’ll notice that the vast majority of Square Enix’s PSOne Classics are priced at $9.99, so the price shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. The precedent was set a long time ago.

  • w00000000000000t ~!!! XENOGEARS! Now drop PARASITE EVE 1 & 2 Pleasssseee!! Thank You Sony this week gonna be a blast!!! YaY!!! ^_^

  • all i care for is alien breed 3. xenogears and killzone sucks. i might pick up bulletstorm after the price gets lower.

  • Thanks for answering, Rey! Mad props, man!

  • OHH!! and Space Ace as well??!! AWESOME! Get to relive my arcade childhood old skool pizza parlor dayzz! XD lol

  • I don’t get the excitement over Xenogears.. but KillZone 3 and Bulletstorm are awesome. also @48 FYI PS3 did get a limited edition.

  • Well lots of people love rpg type games and unless your like 13 yrs old then you would be excited for Xenogears if your into RPG type games and as I said not a lil kid ^.^

  • FLASH FORWARD its the year 2023, They just release the classic FPS “Killzone 3” on the PS5, remastered in FULL-HOLOGRAPHIC Display! And watch someone will be like “I dont see what the big deal is about killzone 3….” looOoll =)

  • Wasn’t ModNation Racers supposed to come out on PSN this week? I’m talking about PS3 Legacy, not PSP.

  • FLASH FORWARD it’s the year 2065 and I can still download Xenogears from the PSN in my nursing home.

  • KZ3 video is awesome! Great job guys!

  • Killzone 3 XD can not wait

  • Are we there yet? @_@

  • Xenogears FTW

  • I’m not gonna lie, Killzone 3 Looks far more engaging that its predecessor, I hope the online has better aiming, I remember it was a little off on the multi-player only…yet in single player it was pretty clean and precise, but I have to say they definitely done their homework in terms of gameplay (due to the combat melee, its so aggressive and direct if you really wanna express your bloody hatred for the helghast so knuckle crack and a big hands down to guerrilla games and sony) and visual, Its gonna be interesting to see Malcolm McDowell and Ray Winstone in the form of their characters, they need to do this more often with actors, it will be interesting to observe.

  • and btw bulletstorm is far better than some shooting games ive seen, dont even worry bout limited editions, most of the time its just concept art and a couple added guns but nothing special, i think the only limited edition games that had any decent packaging and kl stuff was halo reach on xbox 360, and possibly assassins creed 2 and uncharted 2 for the ps3, but other than that, your saving yourself alot of money just buying the original edition, just get extras on psn at least then you realise whats available.

  • I think the most iconic game to date coming out is batman: arkham city, I hope they dont do a multiplayer, I cant see this working tbh, the only character on batmans side introduced so far is our protagonist, his supply of information comes from a disabled bat girl and I cant see gordon kicking butt in his age, so for now its out of the question, theres not enough to work with, maybe in the future folks, we can only hope.

  • Just scrolling through the infos and BAM! A pic of weltall-id!!! Zomg can’t wait to beat xenogears for like 10th time.

  • Killzone 3 and Bulletstorm (360 for the GeoW3 beta of course!) for me. Dunno when I’ll find the time though, especially with Midterms coming up.

  • This makes me so happy to see Xenogears, I will get it ASAP. Now they only have to release Parasite Eve 1 and I can die happy.

  • Yay Xenogears !!!! lol now i can have it downloaded and just have my original copy sit here and and look beautiful.. okay sony lets have some fun now release Kludlka. Lunar sliver star story. Crono cross, Rival Schools , and Vanguard Knights !

  • XENOGEARS! Thank you Sony/S-E! It’s about time, but I’m not taking it for granted. It better be playable on PSP however…

  • man with xenogears up there nothin else really matters. maybe chrono cross & the Lunar series? what do u guys think?

  • I’d be excited about Xenogear if I didn’t already own the game on disc :P

I’m still waiting for Vagrant Story, game that’s over 1 year late on US PSN (already on EU and JP psn for over a year now)

  • @lion773 there’s still tons of ps1 clasics I want on the store but Im super excited that I Can get xenogears and play it on my psp!!!..I love u sony!.

  • Okay, so Xenogears is on the way. Now can we focus on getting Einhander? It’s already on the JPN store, why can’t we have it in the NA store?

  • Congratulations! It’s great to see Xenogears up there.

Any chance we will see the same for Breath of Fire III/IV, or Final Fantasy Tactics War of the Lions?

  • @55 im not a noob that waste my time looking for a limited edition

  • I’m taking 2 day off from work this week:) PS3D

  • THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR BRINGING XENOGEARS AT LAST!!!!

  • xenogears is shweet but i still want (need) chrono trigger in any format..i will pay whatever the cost..i cant believe one of the best rpgs of all time is not available for purchase. come on it would take like 2 seconds to put it up ^-^

  • Definitely going to pickup Xenogears. I would love to see the Parasite Eve series come to PSN sometime soon as well.

  • Excellent.

Now, Question. It does seem like the PsOne classics update schedule is much slower than in Japan. Since many of these titles are hard to find on disc… is there any reason Sony is either not increasing the rare game drop, or instead if they can’t or won’t allow a connivence to those who paid the $50 to $60 for these games originally to upload them on their PS3 (So they can then play them on the PSP. It’s why I buy the scant few already).

    These discs are getting old.

  • For those who don’t know – Xenogears is a 2 disc JRPG from back in the day when the PS1 was synonymous with great JRPGs. The only real problem is the first disc is one of the most epic games ever, and the 2nd disc is basically the invention of the e-book reader, with pages and pages of type before the closing anime cut scene. It’s a testament to just how great the first disc was that after all these years people forget just how miserable the 2nd disc was.

  • I’d love to buy these PSone Classics, but I’m wondering if you guys have fixed the bug in the emulator for downloadable PSOne games?

If you download a PSOne Classic from the store and then used the classic “Texture Smoothing” feature on it, it makes the image skinnier and ruins the aspect ratio. This happens on HDTVs. Regular disc based PSOne games work fine with the option activated. Are you guys ever going to fix this? It’s been forever with no word on it.

  • I have Xenogears on the original disk, it’s a long game, well worth the $10 on PSN. I might even pick it up eventually to have on my PSP and (soon) NGP.

    @140 rjejr
You are so right about the second disk.

  • Who cares about Xenogears, we are getting SPACE ACE!!! I played this on my Amiga back in 1989! Ahh the memories! More Amiga games please! Shadow of the Beast, maybe?

  • Glad to see that PSN users will get the privilege to try the MLB The Show demo on their consoles before its launch this year.
