PlayStation Home to Add Suite of New Developer Tools and Tech with Version 1.5

117 0

Today, at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, we lifted the veil on PlayStation Home’s version 1.5, which will be coming to your PS3s in early spring. The update will introduce a suite of new technology with tools that will enhance your experience with real-time multiplayer, improved physics, as well as more realistic graphics and animations. PlayStation Home v1.5 was developed with one singular goal in mind: high-quality games. Developers will utilize the improved network mechanics to bolster the multiplayer experience with the fastest action available. With the revamped physics engine, developers will carry more control over physics elements, graphics, rendering and animations, which will translate to more realistic and more intricate game experiences.

This update is significantly different from what you, the PlayStation Home community, have come to expect from past core client updates. While versions 1.3 and 1.4 brought user-facing features like Voice Chat, Cross Game Invites, Navigation Improvements, In-Store Previews, New Item Types (such as Active Items and Companions), Optimized Load Times and Universal Game Launching, PlayStation Home v1.5 is packed with tools and features that will enable developers to expand the types of games possible on the platform – from first-person shooters with real-time, peer-to-peer multiplayer to kart racers and more. These new developer tools also allow for richer graphics and an overall improvement to frame-rate, which is something on top of everyone’s wish list.

The proof, as they say, is in the pudding – which is why we want to take this opportunity to show you how PlayStation Home v1.5 will impact your in-world experience. Behold SodiumTwo, the follow up to Lockwood Publishing’s massively successful tank combat game, Sodium One. The game, which is scheduled for release in conjunction with the 1.5 update, takes advantage of v1.5 and features heavily customizable jets squaring off in fast action multiplayer races at supersonic speeds. Check it out!

There needs to be a easier way to find a compatible PlayStation Home Community Member that has the same games as yourself without having to wait forever to compare trophies.

Like one person said before in the comments above is to have the ability to see a PlayStation Home Community Member that has the same game as you in a Special Personal Space.

►► (Example of my own take on Game Party in HOME): If you where in a Killzone Personal Space (Only in the Game Developers Personal Spaces such as all Killzone 3 Personal Space) you should have a special ICON above someones head and also a Menu within the personal space to see all of the gamers in the same Personal Space that has the same game and who all to invite into a personal game of the new Killzone 3.

Have more great Ideas for PlayStation HOME these are just the few I could think of at this time.

    Thanks for Reading Skater_Ricky,

  • All I ever wanted from Home was what was advertised in the very beginning. I want to be able to have a TV in my personal space and a way to access all the videos I have on my PS3 HDD to play on the TV in the personal space so me and my friends can all sit down and watch it together. Other than that Home is just not used for much on my end anymore. I can jump into a game with friends faster without using home, and the games on my BluRays look better also. I just wanted Home to watch vids with some friends out of town when not in the gaming mood.

Can you guys update it to do that one day?

  • Hypnotic_Inertia

I Have five questions for Locust and Glass.

Will the avatar be able to sit down as we use the camera?

How many new actions, dance, and pose will we have?

How much larger, various spaces like Aurora, or more spaces will we have?

Can you ask the Namco Bandai or D3 Publishers and home developers to bring over Dream Club and Macross: Frontier avatar costumes?

I was wondering if you could bring over the cute Japanese girls Home hairstyles over to the NA Home, like you did with the music club side ponytail?

  • Hello to all the community. You know, because PlayStation Home is not available in Mexico? Thanks

  • The game tht comes with the update looks like a fun game! i hear its a ripoff of wipeout but I’ve nvr played it b4, so i’m open to this home style of it.

BTW i hv a suggestion for a virtual item, i hv the scorpion lounge chair and would like to be able to sit in it please take it out of the ornaments and place it as a chair thnx.

  • Not liking Sodium 2..Not my thing,.,,

  • This sounds like it’s going to be awesome. I’m pumped! But I still would like to know when PS home is going to come out with a working t.v and stereo so that you can watch movies and listen music you have on you PS3 with you PS Home buddies.

  • You know, I’m getting excited about the 1.5 update and Sodium 2, too! I certainly hope the new game developing tools include pinball games, too! I like pinball games! Also, I like The Midway 1 and 2! There are so many great games with great rewards! Mass Media rocks at content development! I can already imagine The Midway 3 with a very special funhouse adventure if possible! Also, when is Dragon’s Green getting some cool new additions? I certainly would like to play through new holes, win new challenges, avoid new obstacles and enemies, and more new clubs and balls to buy and more. That game rocks, too!

  • This would be great if they had a system to give everyone a chance to play… Since its free people are probably going to be like game hogs or something, where there’s a play button and when the race is over play only pops up for a few milliseconds. The only games that fix this problem is bowling at the bowling alley and Basketball at the playground.

  • That’s Awesome! I’ve tinkered a bit with Home (playing free games and such) but never really felt the justification to pay real money for anything in there. I love how a lot of stuff is free or you have to play games to win it tho! Making Sodium 2 completely free is another great idea ;)

I wish developers would take it more seriously. I’d liked to see an Uncharted 3 updated room or Resistance 3 updated room. I always go visit rooms of my favorite games but they’re not too festive.

I’m glad to see its still being taken seriously and not scrapped tho! :) I’m sure these updates will bring in more users, meaning more money, meaning more and better updates in the future tho! Keep up the good work!

PS: Seems like a lot of ppl want Trophies enabled and possibly a Trophy Room added onto there suite! Might look into doing that cuz I’m sure that would bring in a BUNCH of ppl.

  • I’ve had major problems with Voice Chat on Home. I can’t seem to hear anyone without them cutting in and out. Sometimes I can’t even hear them at all.

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem or know what the problem might be and how to fix it?
