An external intrusion on our system has affected our PlayStation Network and Qriocity services. In order to conduct a thorough investigation and to verify the smooth and secure operation of our network services going forward, we turned off PlayStation Network & Qriocity services on the evening of Wednesday, April 20th. i mean you cant blame them for not giving us a FREE service. Who cares if they take a few days to clean up or whatever. We have many things that XBL does not.

That’s not sony you need to ask but the games’ companies themselves. After spending so much time fixing this [DELETED] the last thing on their mind will be an immediate cake party for lazy cheaters like you. Don’t forget your game’ll be boring once you reach the last lvl.
If this was indeed caused by hackers, I hope their [DELETED] are caught and thrown in jail. If this was an attack on Sony for everything going on lately with the lawsuits, they are punishing the wrong people. Sure they are hurting Sony in loss of revenue, but more importantly, they are hurting all of us that just want to play their PS3 over the holiday. I think anyone that’s supporting these tactics against Sony needs to think about their cause and reasoning for all this. Was Sony really wrong to try and protect their investment and intellectual property? “Oh but I want to run Other OS and homebrew on my PS3” they say. That’s what PCs are for. Anyone that supports hacking the PS3 and says they do it not for piracy is lying to them self. I think Geohot should have gotten worse than what he did, and Sony has every right to want to bring these pirates down. All of us gamers who support Sony and love their PS3 need to help and protect this wonderful hobby and great gaming platform. It’s not like Sony is miles ahead of its competition. Stunts like this not only hurt Sony, but all of us fans and gamers. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sony backs out from making another console after all this crap. it’s a damn shame…

You guys arent going to get anything free because someone else is hacking the network, and why should you? Its not their fault, its the jack offs who are doing this
This is the biggest mess in Sony Gaming history. It is the weekend now and we still can not play the games we love and we just have to wait. Im mad and don’t care about excuses just get it fixed, you have all those people that are getting payed to stop Hackers. Maybe its time to fire some people fo real.
Think of how large a network this is. Now think of all the systems integrated into it. Now add in the new steam integration with all they are connected to. Now let us say these hackers (no idea if it is anon or not) are a group of 5 to 20 people. Now they are probably spread out across the world more then likely and when they planned this attack they hit different areas of PSN at the same time.
So PSN IT security how has multiple attacks all at once hitting different systems probably covered by hacks intended to cover stealing games. Hell they may have even crashed the PSN as a cover after attacking other smaller systems to get IT running. Hell if I could hack a system that is about how I would do it would because they would not know what the hell is going on and by the time they started tracing everything they would be getting the call “Someone shut down the PSN”
Also to all the people complaining how it is ruining your plans think of all the games that are not being bought the RMT’s not being bought every minute of every day while the PSN is down. Sony is losing thousands of dollars if not hundreds of thousands of dollars a day because of this.

To those of you saying you get what you pay for and you can’t blame Sony its a FREE service. Well that may be true to an extent but keep in mind that I do buy a lot of games from the PSN store. I can’t use those games right now because my new HD requires that I reactivate my PS3. Guess what, you can’t do that while PSN is offline.
Try to keep that in mind folks, it is not just about being able to play online. I am sure Sony is doing all they can and I really do hope they are gaining experience points from this battle too so that hopefully this won’t happen again.

it’s like when your computer got infected and starting to corrupt data in your hard drive.
it take over a day to be sure everything is restored exactly as it was before the crash.
and now we are talking about SONY servers restoring process togheter. i dont know how much server they have but, it’ll take some time to get it repair and everything running exactly as it was before.
Just make sure you get it fixed before Uncharted 3 MP Beta ;)

The key words A DAY in what you wrote not three days. Also we are losing out too not just SONY. I feel that us gamers who are PS3 supporter and are always trying to say why PS3 is better than XBOX is let down. Now XBOX owners are laughing at us paying for what hackers are maybe have done. It is the weekend and this is where i put in most of my time playing and i don’t like missing my time.
