We sincerely regret that PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have been suspended, and we are working around the clock to bring them both back online. Our efforts to resolve this matter involve re-building our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure. im wondering about trophies i hope i dont have to start from scratch on my ds plat i was working on would of been my first plat too i hope all gets restored soon so my question will be answered to where i’ll know you didnt reset everything or you did reset everything the wait is killer i miss psn i hope everything goes back to normal soon

You’re trophies will be fine since they’re stored on your HDD. Worst case is you’ll have to re-sync all of them again.

OK it’s Sunday morning PSN has been down for half a week. Did the hackers get personal information or they are messing with Sony? I haven’t noticed anything on my credit card yet.
I’m not that worried about my cc info since I used a debit card anyway. Lol, that’s the worst thing you can come up with? Debt?

As for compensation, as a free user I am owed nothing. Where are my damages? What is my loss?
You PSN+ players could see a slight credit for losing play time for which you paid for access. This would not be out of obligation as I’m sure they are covered under the user agreement but it would make sense from a cost standpoint. They know exactly what it costs to win new customers through marketing/advertising. Any compensation here would be far less per user than that number from a cost standpoint. Since subscription revenue is recurring any increase in churn from this event would be exponential. It still doesn’t mean any reparations will be offered but from a cost standpoint it would make sense.

The only thing we are not sure is the credit card info. But the rest remember that PSN is 100% down. Nobody can get in right now so funds purchases and your personal info should be safe

If it means more secure online environment so be it. But PS + members should be compensated as all our free games are not working because PSN outage messed with the time and can’t update the time online.

I guess that this is for the best, they really should fix the root of the problem and thats exactly wut they are doing but rebuilding their infastructure inorder to prevent future attacks and therefore future downtimes. I must commend Sony on these efforts.

Okay, I’m actually satisfied with them trying to make their network protection stronger so another incident like this will never happen. But, I’m also saddened that this can’t be taken care of faster. :(
Its better now than the summer time when millions of kids are on vacation and parents are more able to stay home more. I for one think its better now than later.

I have a 60gb phat and it died on me not long ago so I bought a slim to replace it but some saves didnt copy over. I bought the DLC for Star Wars Force Unleashed 2 and when I played it, since my save file wasnt there, I started a new game and it somehow wiped my trophies and my platinum.
Well at least we won’t have to worry about another bad store update this week!
As log as they fix it right to where this won’t happen again go for it…but be fast about it

@zantam When PSN is up again you just sync your trophies with the server. But only if you synchronized your trophies with your old PS3. When you sync in your new ps3 all the trophies should be fine
Guaranteed, PSN will look the same, feel the same, and there will be no new features. This is what Sony does. I do feel a compensation is in order to all PS3 owners. Yes, PSN is free, but you as the consumer showed support by buying Sony’s console. You also buy games for that console that use the network for multiplayer. Oh wait, how silly of me, they will be giving free smiley face avatars for out inconvenience.
This just goes to show, you get what you pay for, and PSN is free so… :p
I would advise you guys not to go assuming there will be some type of happy ending in the form of a gift from sony. They didnt expect this so I think all we will get is what they said, more security. Which will be transparent for the most part for us users. Hopefully this wont happen again, or at least they will have a quick backup plan. Sucks if those sony employees are really working on easter break. They dont deserve that, and neither do us users deserve what we are getting. Dont know how people still support hackers through all this.

Sony has now disappointed by 8-yr old (now the kids! the horror! heh). Returning from grandma’s and now wanting to play multiplayer DH:A, since mommy is taking a nap, I had to explain to him that the system was down…after he finally realized what this meant, he did the “grrrr” with fists raised and said “Damn you Sony!” And he says you better keep the Blue Toad bundle on sale because he wants it! :)

Good news. Better 1 big security update than small updates which can still be hacked.
Anyone out here who feels they need to be compensated for a service that they get for free are nuts. Ud all be lucky if u still have this service for free when they r done fixing their mess. I’m sure all of the addicts will get ur little fix again here soon. It sucks, it happens, be patient

Yay for strengthening your network, but boo for not giving us an ETA.
While sony made the right call hopefully when brought back online we’ll get a very nice firmware update with some much needed functionality like cross game chat ,dedicated servers run by sony and 10-20 GB of cloud storage so we could store more than simple game saves in the cloud. This outage does show how if sony developed a psn portal where everything was on a cloud and there wasn’t even a hdd backup everything would go down without redundant backup’s.
Oh btw sony i can’t play either bionic commando 2 or final fight because of aggressive DRM – REMOVE IT.
Any company willing to take your money and then tell you that you MUST BE ONLINE to play even single player is

When you subscribe to PS + for a year lost time is gone forever so how will subscribers be compensated for this time?
Well since everyone is complaining, I will join in also. Sony does this mean that the Golden egg from that game in home will hatch after Easter? Just saying it was suppose to hatch on Easter and there is noway that it can happen. since the network is down. lol I am just being silly, All jokes aside just do what you have to do to make the network safer. Honestly, I’m very disappointed by this news. I hope you guys at least give us cross game chat as compensation. I mean really since 06 my experience on the ps3 has disappointment after disappointment we deserve something like cross game chat in return. all Ps3 exclusives imo are a big let down the only ones that are enjoyable to me so far have been warhawk, uncharted 2 pre 1.05 and killzone. socom has been a major failure and each new installment requires a year plus of work just to get it in stable condition after it’s launch. it’s truly pathetic and really we deserve compensation. idc if its not in your user agreement this is an outrage. I’ve honestly considered the [DELETED] numerous times since 06 but i mean you guys at sony are pushing me to my limit.
Forgot to add since most want cross game, or psn credits, or a new car. I wanted to request while the network is down, could you add a Vanilla Coke dispenser add on so that I could quench my thirst during long game sessions. If I wasn’t playing your game for long periods, then my throat wouldn’t be parched, so that is your fault too. The benefits of this would be that it could be integrated for use for cooling the system after long periods of play as well as having a nice tasty beverage to consume during long matches. Thanks Sony. lol
