I know you are waiting for additional information on when PlayStation Network and Qriocity services will be online. Unfortunately, I don’t have an update or timeframe to share at this point in time.

As we previously noted, this is a time intensive process and we’re working to get them back online quickly. We’ll keep you updated with information as it becomes available. We once again thank you for your patience.

  • Maybe during this outage maybe Sony would get its head out of its ass and finally release “90210” in the CW section of the PS Store when it gets back up.

  • Ok I think it is time for an update, PSN Team. This is going on a week here in another day and the updates you have provided so far are extremely lacking. You do read all the bad press this is giving you don’t you? If you know the PSN is going to be down another week or as the WSJ supposedly reported, indefinitely, which means many people are going to take that as forever, then please inform us. None of my DLC is functioning till I can re-activate my PS3 after making the mistake of upgrading the HD right when the outage happened. Dead in the water.

  • i really dont know what to say…i just hope this fix it THIS month…but please dont lie to us and tell us like u did the first day that it will be done in full day or 2…but u knew it would take more than a week…i was really hoping to play today but i guess it didnt work out like u said it would…thats why its a good thing to have more than 1 gaming console but i decided to just have ps3…fk dis im buying xbox360 right NOW!

  • Man, this is just sad…
    I had so many things to buy this week, like DLC for a pair of titles, both classic Sonic games and my precious Threads of Fate.
    I hope that this week’s releases will be waiting for us when PSN comes back (even if its Friday or next Monday), but since Rey didn’t show up it probably means nothing will be released. However, Destructoid confirmed Outland.

  • dont these people that are “leaving for XBOX realize what sony is doing? quit whining like little girls and think logically. a network that size is very complex and time consuming to fix. servers at my dad’s company can take days to fix when they shut down and they only have 3-500 employees. this is a rebuild of their ENTIRE infrastructure. its going to take alot of time to do this but when they are done their network will be stronger for it. i just hope that sony/the FBI are planning on prosecuting these hackers to the FULLEST extent of the law!

  • As this is the only Sony website that I’m currently logged in to, I really hope that no-one in my household clicks “logout”, because I’ll never get back in again.

    Thing is, if I tell anyone, one of those jokers will sneakily click “logout” just for giggles

  • Though PSN would be back up & running today.. guess I was wrong. Although very frustrating I have a small glimmer of hope that once the network is once again active it will be a little bit better than before. Hopefully an all new look, quicker sync operations for trophies smoother messaging etc. Just hope this hiatus doesn’t go any further than this week.

  • ….speaking of trophies I hope that with the rebuilding on PSN that all my trophies aren’t erased. Too many to go back and earn them all back. I would be extremely furious with Sony if this happened.

  • Man i am having so much fun playing offline…its like i have found a new lease of life in the ps3.im all right at the moment!

  • I don’t know what’s worse.
    Having homeopathic doses of information that basically say “we’re down, brb, sorry”. (like that’s all we needed to know)
    Or having no news for a long time, only showing up later with a “surprise, we’re back!” banner in the front page (like that friend who shows up in your birthday after the party is over and everyone is tired)

    Dont worry, trophies are saved on your console and synced with your profile on their servers. if that did happen you would just have to perform a long sync with their server. i just hope they do something to speed up download times. i hate waiting for an hour or so for the bigger system updates!

  • @515 this is what I thought but my friend has lost some trophies before when his first ps3 crapped out and he bought another one so I am waiting to see.

    that happened because when he bought the new console he lost any trophies that were saved on the old one but not synced with the server. that is the exact opposite problem from what you are worried about. dont worry, you will have them and can sync them when the network returns. now go game in confidence knowing your trophies are safe! :)

    Trophies are on their servers and connected to you by your user name.
    Even if you lose your PS3 you would only lose your data (unless you did a full back up an external HDD). Why else would we have to sync our trophies?

    Your friend probably started a new account and didn’t use his older account.

  • @519 true.. I’m still gonna wait on actively hunting down any trophies right now until the PSN is back up. Maybe when the servers are back online I can finally update PS Home and explore ( annoy people online ) again

  • @521 no he re activated his previous account. He just lost some of his trophies because they were store on his previous hdd and didn’t sync them before switching systems.

  • ….still rocking Mini Ninjas here. :) 37% now….close to a couple more…wont get 100% this time, need a 2nd play thru ( did i mention i hate when they do this…as well as multiplayer related ones that really shouldnt be there …*cough Bioshock 2 cough*)

    This is coming from all 70+ million of PSN users around the world.

    Thank you for not updating us on the situation sooner than you guys have been doing, which currently is just ridiculously slow and ridiculously uninformative.

    If you wish to resume at the pace you guys were going, then please proceed with some relevant, pertinant, and informative updates instead of this crap of “working around the clock”, “etc. If you were working around the clock since Wednesday, you had nearly 168 hours (give or take…so at the very least 150 hours). Most of which I doubt you were “working around the clock” due to it being the holiday weekend (Easter and Good Friday).

    Sony is trying to gain the assurance of developers. I’m sure they’ve been doing that for others like Neterrealm Studios (Mortal Kombat), Valve (Portal 2), etc.to, “…recoup our potential losses…”

    Sony is out for profits first and the clients (i.e us) second. Funny how that works, right? Isn’t it us consumers/clients who provide Sony and the game developers profits through our purchasing of their products & services?

    Hm.

    Please Sony. Get your act together NOW, and not later. Fire your entire marketing, PR, and IT department and hire newer, more competent, and more efficient people.

    Your gamers are angry, getting very impatient, and some have defected over to Nintendo and or Microsoft.

  • What really upsets me is that I talked to Sony and they told me that my PS+ would not be extended and I questioned them saying that I paid for 90 days so I should get 90 days and there reply was that I am not losing anything by the system being down!? Well if I was to pay for any other service like this they would simply just add X amount of days that I lost and I would be happy but for them to tell me NO they are not going to extend my service well thats the last time I ever pay for any service from Sony again and if it wasnt for socom and Uncharted I wouldve been happy sticking with my 360 even tho I hate Microsoft in general!!!!! Just PLEASE hurry and get this fixed and ALSO PLEASE LET US USERS KNOW IF ARE CREDIT CARD DETAILS ARE COMPRIMISED………. WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Sony’s income will be inversely proportional to the complaints from everyone. There will be more bragging and finger-pointing from the “neighbors” than ever before and the press will run amok.

  • Well guys, i am not sure if you have seen this yet. But it looks like this ‘Rebug Custom Firmware’ is the reason why Sony pulled the plug (and not hackers as we first thought) Apparently this custom firmware allowed users to download content from the Store completely free. It’s still classed as an ‘external intrusion’ but not in the form of a direct attack. So this makes perfect sense why Sony is rebuilding the Network, to stop these dam pirates. Rather than Sony splashing this over the internet, they kept this from the public, and rightfully so. My guess is the little people know about this CFW the less chance it has of airtime.

    The sad thing is, this Rebug CFW is a direct result of Hots original jailbreak. So you have one person to blame for this, and thats that self riotous, delusional little toad Hots. I don’t think we have anything to worry about regarding credit card information. This CFW was using FAKE cc info, NOT users cc details.

    So guys, its pirates that are to blame here, little thieves.

  • wow… t-minus 8 hours till PSN down 1 week and no information update from Sony since early 4/25 ….. This is really taking great care of 70 million users…. Plus we dont even know if our credit card info has been swiped…

    Sad thing for me is that I just bought a new slim ps3 to replace a original release date PS3 (overheating issues) …. Now, I thinking of returning it for a xsucks 360…

    Kaz has to lose his job after this mess!…..

  • I’ve actually been able to get quite a few more tropies since PSN went down. But yeah like I said, I don’t expect it to be back up until Fri.

  • @Panda. Did the same thing several months back when Best Buy had a $50 giftcard (which in turn, got the controller/LBP GOTY pack). :) Quiet now, and lighter, smaller….and non-online accessible. :p

  • @539 that’s pretty much what I thought it was. Otherwise there would be no.cause for such an extreme overhaul of the network. It’s a shame that these people have enough time to custom build a OS that allows them to steal premium content but not enough time to go out and find themself a J O B and make their own money so they wouldn’t need to daybreak a PS3. and what’s sad is that 75 million paying customers not to mention AMES & SCRAWLED suffer the consequences of a group of ignorant self righteous nerds with no life whatsoever. I hope this guy Geohotz gets what’s coming to him along with the other clones following in his footsteps.

  • So, no update today? Just as well I guess, since there wouldn’t be any information in a new post.

    PLEASE give us some sort of timeline, even if it’s going to be a few more days/weeks/whatever. Then we won’t be in the dark at least. Better to know it’s going to be 2 more weeks then have my hopes up every day that today might be the day it comes back.
