Q: Will our download history/friends list/settings be affected by the PSN downtime?
A: No, they will not.Q: Will trophies that were earned in single-player offline games during the outage be intact when the service resumes?
A: These trophies are intact and will be re-synched when the network is once again operational.Q: Will my PS+ cloud saves be retrievable?

I would suggest that the bare minimum Sony should spend on whatever they plan to do to make up to its customers is the complete cost of what it would have taken to encrypt our date in the first place, and not just rely on a quote unquote unhackable system.
How ever much they saved from not doing that the last few years would be a good start to making amends.

I don’t really eat McDonalds because there isn’t really one close by. There’s a Burger King that’s walking distance (sort of walking…not too close but not too far) from where I live.

… Well my new debit card came in the mail so I think I’m safe. When the PSN comes back up, the first time I’m doing is changing the password and removing my credit card info from the PS3. I’m gonna get PSN cards from now on.

For what it’s worth, IMHO the cross-game chat is kinda overrated. As someone who has a 360 to serve as a secondary system, I haven’t really used that feature since a few months after I got that system (once the novelty of the feature wore off), & I ever so rarely see others use it either. Frankly, I think the main reason why PS3 users are clamoring for it is ’cause they know it exists on the 360 & they don’t have access to it via PSN. People are inclined to want what they don’t currently have, regardless of it’sinherant value. Trust me – XGC is a novelty, nothing more.
As I said before take your time. A rush job here may stop the negative PR but it will come back to haunt you.
On a side note you guys were pretty quick with my PS3 when I sent it in for repairs. Got a mail from fedex saying that it was delivered and 30 mins later a mail for SOny with the return shipping tracking ID.

Sony was robbed of around 2 billion dollars in revenue due to the hacker(s). Now it’s own “fans” want to rob Sony again?
We don’t need any compensation from Sony, just a renewed effort for better service and increased security. The ones who owe us any compensation are the hackers. And they can do that by abandoning the internet and sit quietly in prison.
And if any of the hackers truly wanted to be heros, why not take on the mob and the Taliban? Surely their security is a challenge for them?
Hacking the PSN didn’t help anyone but inflate the soft egos of the perpetrators. If they made friends, it didn’t include 77 million.
It’s sure to be a few crappy games for free or a discount week on psn or Double XP week on a few key MP games. lol.

cross game chat, isn’t needed and it’s point less. All it does is take away from the game. I would to have left 4 dead 1 and 2 in one download. I’d pay 50 for it too.
party chat is very good like for all games that dont have voice chat.

I don’t care about getting freebies, I just want PSN back. Oh well I used the time to play through Portal 1 and am about to pickup Portal 2. Also gave me time to finish a couple PSP games. Working on finishing FFXIII now.
