Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!
OK. I wasn’t aware it will be restored on May 24, I haven’t been on the Internet for a week.
@RicAn6483 But Sony said after that news went out “We’ve not announced a specific date other than to say we expect to have the service fully restored by end of the month. Anything other than that is purely speculative.”
Would someone from PlayStation please tell us when we should see the store up i had bought a card and now i cant use it all i want is a approximate date when we can expect it up. please and thank you for getting PSN back up and running.

PlayStation network stated that PlayStation and Qriocity services were back up and ready to be used but to find out they were lying i have been checking all of the services but almost all of them are not up and running yet for example playstation store is no back up yet or online gameplay can somebody tell when these services are back up

hey sony, maybe u havent noticed but a lot of people are wondering when we might be able to expect the playstation store back online. we know u read these comments and would appreciate a ballpark estimate at least. like i said before, i dont mind waiting (like i have much of a choice), but it would be nice to know an estimated timeframe at least. also, theres a lot of rumors going around the internet saying that a sony insider leaked that the store will be back up on may 24th. if thats true then im pissed because you could have easily shared that information with the hundreds of people asking u every day when the store is gonna be back up. also, if the rumors are false then it might be in your best interest to come out and let us know, because a lot of people are taking the rumors to be factual and if may 24th comes and goes and theres still no store a lot of people are gonna be pissed

I want the store up too, along with an update for Home. I need the last part of the Mansion. And if so [DELETED] hacker hadn’t screwed things up for all of us, it would have already been released. I’ve been holding a $50 card since they went down. I think all of us PSN users should be able to kick the hackers responsible for this chaos right square in the [DELETED].
You know, Sony, I’m pretty sure you’re sick of your servers getting annoying comment after comment going “whenz teh store going up plz I WANNA KNO!!!1″….but we want to know. I don’t know who was asking “when is the Playstation Blog going to feature games again”, because right now GAMES AREN’T THE ISSUE. THE ISSUE IS YOUR NETWORK.
Giving us a stupid map graphic, turning on Log-In service and then basically ignoring the network issues by posting total TRIPE about games I could be less than interested in (Ratchet and Clank? Come ON) does not solve the issues. People want to actually spend money at your online store. Can you believe it? Neither can I, after the god-awful way this has been handled.
However, I want to redeem my codes. I want FULL NETWORK FUNCTIONALITY. AND I WANT YOU TO STOP ACTING LIKE THIS NEVER HAPPENED. GET THIS BACK ON THE FRONT PAGE AND TELL US SOMETHING EVEN IF IT’S “THE STORE WON’T BE BACK UP FOR A WHILE”!!!

I dont thank SONY at all. I am glad they finally were able to restore a few functions, but I definitely wont send flowers! The PSN is part of a product I have paid for and therefore I dont fall to my knees in dying adoration if it is restored again! No, I am angered it took so long and nobody from SONY had the balls to tell so in the first place.
But what angers me most is SONY information policy: the official email informed me of the hack three days after i heard in the radio! This is no way to treat your customer; especially not if said customer trusted you with his credit card information. Furthermore, all official information is very vague.
I understand SONY has lost a lot of money because of this, but no insurance would cover any damage encouraged by ignoring standard safety measures. SONY had the means to securely encrypt our data and did not do so. On top of that, they knowingly risked the misuse of the stolen credit card information.
I bet the planned “compensation” will not function the way we would like it, too.

Would it have been such a problem to open the blogs for unregistrated/unlogged users while PSN was down? No, of course not, at least not technically. But it came in handy that the blogs could not be used, did it not? Everything seemed relatively calm and the few users who could still post (for a week) vented their anger in silence because nobody answered.

This is now ridiculous. I bought my son a new PSPGo last month. Today is May 22 and he still cannot play any games. I understand this process is slow, but come on!!
I was able to set up the Play Station Network ID, but I still cannot access the Play Station Store. Is there any idea when it will be up and running? I live in NV.

Open the Store. Make sure Escalation DLC is in it. How is this for keeping the conversation going. Who is the JERK who didnt think their cash machine is not a #1 priority. Get rid of Credit Cards in the store and only use the playstation network card. If you put out good games, download content, etc, people will have no problem buying a Network card to buy what they want. After all would you still use a Credit Card, when or even if Playstation Store opens? I will not regardless I am sure it will be protected. I have my playstation network card staring me in the face day after day. I hope I have no problems with that seen how I bought it the day I was able to sign in. Not knowing the Playstation Store will be ungergoing maintenance. Please open the store today! How about making this your Mainphase.

Sony Qriocity is not fixed as of yet. And when will the PlayStation Store be restored? I think you guy’s had long enough to fix the problem by now, You should realize it is day 29! Come on Sony! If you can’t tell us the whole truth then stop posting it on the net! And stating that you restored the online play and Qriocity. When in fact you haven’t fixed this as of yet. Sure I can play Call Of Duty Black Op’s. But seriously who care’s when you get booted out of the game all the time!. Sony have you ever heard of Dedicated Server’s? This is why Xbox Live has a way better service then the PlayStation Network. And no offense to you fan-boys of Sony. It’s just Sony can’t have free service for rest of the PlayStation 3’s Life anymore! Would you rather have a network controlled by Live moderator’s the watcher’s that you know you can rely on? yes it is true that getting booted out of a game is not fun not haveing to pay to go on-line is why SONY has 77MIL online players don’t nock a gift in the mouth. so they could work on the surver and make it more reliable that would be a plus however we should be gratful that they did act as fast as they did do to get what they have done so far.

everyone who reads this remember THE GAME IS CALLED BATTLEFIELD 3 not bad company 3. they are two different games. :) i just wanted to let everyone know i hate when people called it bad company 3 when its not a bad company game. they both are battlefield games but they aren’t the same story line.
