Now that PlayStation Network is once again operational, a great many of you are once again enjoying playing games online. Of course, that’s only part of the Network’s offerings – and you’ve got some questions about how the downtime affected planned releases and online events. Here are answers to some of the more pressing queries:
Q: So what exactly is working right now?
A: Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity (including the resetting of passwords), online gameplay for PS3 and PSP, playback of rental video content on PS3 (if within rental period), Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity on PS3 (for current subscribers), access to services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and MLB.tv, “Friends” category on PS3 (including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc), in-game leaderboards, and PlayStation Home.Q: I’m having trouble changing my password/I forgot which email I used on my account/I used a fake email to set up my account.
A: Click here for a set of tips on resetting your password. If you’ve gone through the process and are waiting for an email from us, please note that the very large number of requests has caused certain ISPs to slow the rate at which recipients get emails from us. Please be patient as the systems work through the backlog.Q: The PlayStation Store hasn’t updated since April 19th. When can I download digital games that were planned to be released since then?
A: To date, three Tuesday publishes were missed, which included items like Under Siege and the MotorStorm Apocalypse demo. Rest assured that you won’t miss any of this great content. To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored. We will update the PlayStation.Blog with information on timing of the Store restoration, as well as the full list of new content as each publish occurs.Q: How will PlayStation Plus members be affected by the PSN downtime? A number of games/items were slated to go live or come down on April 26th.
A: We will be picking back up with the PlayStation Plus content calendar where we left off to ensure that you won’t miss out on anything.Q: Sucker Punch has indicated that they will extend the inFAMOUS 2 beta. Any details?

Sunday, I managed to reset the password to my principal account. But, for two other accounts on my ps3, it said they would be sending an email. We are now wednesday, and still no email! Is this normal, or do I have to do somethiong else??????
How come I did the update for a new password and it still says that playstation network has timed out?
Why start posting about games when you still had customers that are unable to use your products. You tell us to go to the blog for updates and now it’s filling up will ads from products that we can’t even use.

I have sent 4 requests to change my password (waiting the full 24 hours that they said it could take to get the email between requests) and I haven’t gotten an email yet. Is any one else having this problem?

Before I say anything and my words become misconstrued. I like my Xbox 360 and Wii. I have been a loyal fan of Sony since I bought my first PS1 in ’97, even though at the time I had a Sega Saturn, N64, Sega Genesis, NES, and SNES I still favored my PS1 because of its great lineup of 1st party titles,its superior 3rd party support and Resident Evil. I bought it on PS1 because I didn’t like the Saturn’s controller as much as I did the PS1’s and I felt that the PS1’s version was superior. Since then I have been satisfied with all of the Playstation’s Hardware because it was and still is dependable, and with all of that said I am somewhat disappointed at the fact that Sony can’t give us as supporters of the Playstation Platform, a date for the relaunch of the Playstation Store, even though they have restored online gaming capabilities, one would think that they would know by now when to expect the Store to be up. Sony, I am still supporting you as I have for the past 14 years, maybe not with the same tenacity as I once did, so please for me and all of the other fans of the platform, release the date that we can expect the relaunch of the PS-Store at least sometime during this week. I know we would all appreciate it.
I hope sony is really taking a look into all these people who have “Wrong/Fake” emails for their accounts. Sounds alot like BS to me. Be VERY VERY suspicious of these ones Sony. I’m not liking the sound of those. I’m not sure how you will handle it, but I hope you are looking into them VERY VERY close. They could very well be lying.

First of all, welcome back to online game play! SONY, you guys STILL rock no matter what the fair-weather fans and naysayers argue, complain and gripe about.
I can’t speak for anyone else, but for me, the roll out went smoothly. No problems with the password rest and all the updates downloaded without a hitch. Sure I missed playing Black Ops online. Even though the shutdown coincided with the release of SOCOM 4, I still bought it, and I bought a Move Nav Controller and the new Sharpshooter, too! Gonna take LOTS of practice, but I think I’ll eventually get the hang of it!
I know one is not supposed to be a jerk here, but to all those jerks who think they’re entitled to three $60 games and a year membership to PS+ – you guys need to GET REAL!!!! SONY was the victim, and so were all of us who enjoy online game play. So stop whining and be happy SONY is giving you, me and everyone else what they are! They certainly didn’t HAVE to do that.
why cant you just give as a timeline for when we can have access to our already bought content.

Small question been since the 16th since we have heard anything about the Welcome back program. Just wondering if the free Netflix was any part of that that your displaying on the PS3 Ticker. Are you people really complaining about the PS Store not being up yet??? They get the PSN back online and you move to complaining about something else. They’ve done and are doing a great job. They KNOW you want these services back; complaining won’t make it happen faster, which was proven with the PSN. They want things to run smoothly. Give them a break. Go to the store and buy a game… or just keep waiting… play your online games and get over it… Just like PSN, when the Store is up, you will all stop whining and forget about it in a few weeks, so why give the greatest game platform company such grief?

I just found out that someone used my information for an iTunes purchase of $100 yesterday. They got the information from this cyber attack on your network. We havent gotten any information in regards to further protection or prevention that you promised your dedicated users. I am having to handle this matter on my own without the assistance and assurance of the PSN team. Please advise because the financial attacks are real and, so far, am disappointed by lack of response to ensure your users are safe.
