PlayStation Network is scheduled to undergo maintenance today, from about 8am until approximately 5pm Pacific time. During this time, registration and Account Management will be inaccessible, including the password reset process. While some users may experience difficulty signing in to PSN, the majority of consumers will be able to play online as well as sign in to external sites that require PSN authentication (like this one).
For those asking about the PlayStation Store, we’re still targeting restoration of all services by the end of this month. Contrary to reports, the Store will not be publishing today.

The thing that pisses me off with this s*** show is the dates. “Oh it’ll be back up next week.” “Ugh ok maybe next week” “Ok May 24” And then they said nothing on May 24. F*** Sony’s PR department. This is the same lack of information like at my job, that also pisses everyone off. Imagine if you’re wife said she’s be home at midnight, then texted at 2am saying it’d be 4am, then emailed you 6am saying she’d be home for dinner, then aghgghh f***! You’d smack that b*** and tell her to get to the kitchen!

Sooo its pretty much the end of the month, and still no store. What a terrible time to start using a PSP. I got one right before this all hit the fan. Not cool. I am sure you do not need me to remind you how much money you are loosing every minute that the store is down but I will remind you of all the “new” customers that you are loosing which are far more important. I am still within my limits to return my PSP and am seriously considering it. This is not a threat, just a look at what is happening to “new” customers. I am very picky about what games I play since I do not have a whole lot of time to play so your “list” of free downloads to compensate for this outage is unacceptable and I would much rather simply have a credit to my account that I can spend freely. I know I am another spec on your servers and I understand the opinion of a single user doesn’t carry much weight but I am aware that every once in a while someone who makes decisions for the direction of the company catches wind of a comment or two.
I hope your sudden download spike when the store comes back up is enough to compensate for loss of so many new customers.

1918 i agree with you. people please take a chill pill and give them some time to do what is needed to get it working properly. until then go out live life. play on playstation home, play online multiplayer games. go to xbox 360 if you want. i choose to not to have to pay to play. everyone has problems at time and this is sony’s they are working through it and fixing it.

Apparently people do not understand the way humanity works psychologically on this blog, at least those of you that are trying to use the “Playstation 1 and Nintendo 64 did not have online stores, why is it a big deal” reasoning. Let me tell you why its a big deal. When someone is given something, and then given time to get used to it, no matter who you are, you miss it and want it back. Now for some people this mental push to want it back is far greater than others, so they feel they must express there displeasure for whoever has taken it from them. Since in this case we cannot express it to the cracker (Hacker is not the right term, a hacker does things legally) we must express it to sony. Example, say I cracked your ISP and brought it down, you would not be able to access the internet, you would be ticked since you could not use it at your home, or at anyone else’s place that uses that ISP, so you would contact your ISP and complain, until they brought it back up, blaming them for the outage!
@Jerometheknight – Did you even bother to look at the date that article was published on the Internet. Go back and read it again, but this time pay attention to the date at the top; May 5, 2011 4:36 PM PDT. With that, the hack attack was scheduled to happen the weekend of the 7 – 8th of May, not the weekend of 28 – 29th of May.

Getting mad at them for other site’s rumors will not speed things up. Read the PS Blog, not other sites for your information, like I said before; Sony is the only credible source.
There are worse things to be upset about, like the tragedy in Japan, for one. Or did you all forget about that just because it didn’t happen here? Imagine what they’re going through over there, all the while trying to make all of you happy over a video game store.

we’ve all changed our passwords, ive changed my bank details, during this time my ps3 packed in and sony replaced it at a cost, after waiting all this time if and when you get the store up and running and i have trouble with my download history i will not be held responsible for my actions.

I don’t know why everyone is [DELTED] about the store being down. So what its down. So what you cant get downloads. They restored the most important thing first. That was the Internet/psn services. What you can’t wait a couple of weeks till the store is up? QQ more. Sony is doing the best it can to restore services to all its fans but yet you fans bash on sony. I thought fans bought the system for the system itself. Not for the services it provides. I have both consoles. Ps3 and xbox360. I dont use my 360 for online activity but to enjoy the exclusive games story line. You buy the system for the games and nothing else. Via Final Fantasy 13 as an example. or Metal Gear solid 4 for you metal gear fans.
I love the “Why complain about a free service not working!” angle. I paid for all the DLC and extra goodies for these games, therefor making them my property, and now I can’t access MY property. If I had noticed that even DLC’s were unattainable I would have bought L.A. Noire for my 360. At least that way the extra cases for PS3 will probably make it to xbox before these clowns can get the PS store back up. As I’ve stated before I use my 360 for almost all my online gaming as I made the mistake of buying UFC 2009 for PS3 and was never able to play it online until I traded for a 360 version. I do however use the PS store to buy all my old PS favorites, but alas they have been unable to get their “free” service back up and running properly.
So if you think its so important to come here and hate on the upset people who have poured their actual earned income into an empty pit as of now, stop and think “If I went to Mcdonalds and had a coupon for free Big Mac and I paid for a large fry, then the idiot behind the counter says I’m sorry but we are out of Big Macs and fries, so sorry but if you wait for some time (never specified a time) and then you just stand their like an idiot. HELL no you get your money back and leave, thats the American way.
