Identity Theft Protection Offer for PlayStation Network and Qriocity Customers

Starting today, PlayStation Network and Qriocity account holders in the United States can begin the enrollment process for the identity theft protection program by visiting http://us.playstation.com/news/consumeralerts/identity-theft-protection/. We are also notifying customers of the enrollment landing page via email, which you will receive in your inbox this week.

As previously announced, Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Network Entertainment have made arrangements with Debix to offer the AllClear ID PLUS identity theft protection program to PlayStation Network and Qriocity customers who are concerned about identity theft following the criminal cyber attack on the network. AllClear ID PLUS is a premium identity protection service that uses advanced technology to deliver alerts to help protect you from identity theft. The service also provides identity theft insurance coverage and hands-on help from expert fraud investigators. Sony has arranged, at no charge to eligible PlayStation Network and Qriocity account holders, for twelve months of this service to be provided by Debix to those who choose to enroll.

In order to be eligible, account holders must be residents of the United States with active accounts as of April 20, 2011.

Thanks, already sign up. Their isn’t to much of point for me to use it, I mostly buy PSN cards or use a debit card that I can get at Wal Mart.

So any word on when the PSN Store is going to be up? About four of my friends have ask me, I’m where they get all of their Sony info (Mostly because they are to lazy to come here).

The sheer amount of time and effort that Sony has put into making sure hackers can get my credit card and personal info makes me really trust them! Their effort to keep the PS Store shut down for a month has been nothing short of amazing! They only way sony can reward us loyal fans is to keep the PS Store shut down for another month and make sure I can’t download any of my purchases!!

Thank you Sony, this is beyond anything I ever expected from you guys. I have had other companies tell me information has been compromised and they only told me through e mail, they did nothing else. You guys have not only protected my identity for a year but have also given away plenty of free goodies (when the store is back of course), even though I already own them all. No complaints from me though, just thanks for everybody’s hard work over at Sony and the teams brought in to fix the security problem. Again THANK YOU SONY.

Everybody asking about the store needs to learn how to read. Sony has stated numerous times that they are shooting for full restoration of PSN (including the store) BY THE END OF THE MONTH.

I see plenty of people have already asked already, but when do you think you might be able to announce a similar service for Canadian PSN users, or if you’re even able to offer a service here? It would`ve been nice to at least know if we are getting identity theft protection by now.

I appreciate the offer of free games as compensation, but I am far more interested in free identity theft protection as it is far more meaningful to everyone who is now exposed due to the PSN server breach.

I just want to apologize, Sony, for all the a-holes who can’t appreciate that you’re doing your best to get our information secured again and to bring up the store as soon as possible. Some people are just so freakin’ selfish.
