Identity Theft Protection Offer for PlayStation Network and Qriocity Customers

Starting today, PlayStation Network and Qriocity account holders in the United States can begin the enrollment process for the identity theft protection program by visiting http://us.playstation.com/news/consumeralerts/identity-theft-protection/. We are also notifying customers of the enrollment landing page via email, which you will receive in your inbox this week.

As previously announced, Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Network Entertainment have made arrangements with Debix to offer the AllClear ID PLUS identity theft protection program to PlayStation Network and Qriocity customers who are concerned about identity theft following the criminal cyber attack on the network. AllClear ID PLUS is a premium identity protection service that uses advanced technology to deliver alerts to help protect you from identity theft. The service also provides identity theft insurance coverage and hands-on help from expert fraud investigators. Sony has arranged, at no charge to eligible PlayStation Network and Qriocity account holders, for twelve months of this service to be provided by Debix to those who choose to enroll.

In order to be eligible, account holders must be residents of the United States with active accounts as of April 20, 2011.

  • I am not satified with you offer of AllClear ID PLUS. It is too late! I already have had to cancel my card and get a new one. While it has not cost me much money directly, it has caused me quite a hassle! I had to take time off from work 3 different times to cancel, get a new card, and have the new card PIN reset. I also spent time to change the automatic payments from card. I didn’t get to one of them and had to pay a fee for a rejected payment.

    What really gets me angry, is to read about how security updates were not be performed on your web servers. Why is that? You can blame the hackers or anyone you like, but if you do not do the updates, YOU are responsible. You are a huge company with lots of resourses to keep this from happening. I am not concerned with how much this has cost you. You don’t keep up with security updates, what do you expect to happen?
    I have been reading about the AllClear ID PLUS thing for around a month. Now you actually offer it. After the damage has been done.

    I WANT SOME MONEY for the hassle SONY CAUSED!!!!

  • my ps3 has been freezing, not reading games and blue ray but plays regular movies fine, if i send it away soon to get fixed am i going to miss out on all the free playstation plus and other offers. does anyone know the answer to this

  • THE FACT THAT YOU ARE ON THIS BLOG, PROBABLY MEANS YOU HAVE BEEN A SONY CUSTOMER FOR A LONG TIME…IM SURE YOU ALL HAS A PS1 PS2 OR A PS3… OVER THE YEARS…THEY HAVE BEEN A GREAT COMPANY. AND NOW, THEY MAKE 1 MISTAKE…AND EVERYONE GOES CRAZY!!!! That is not fair to them.

    I THINK SONY IS HANDLING THE SITUATION THE BEST THAT THEY CAN…AND UNLESS YOU CAN DO BETTER…YOU SHOULD STOP COMPLAINING…AND LET THEM DO THEIR JOB…SO THEY CAN RESTORE EVERYTHING BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS. MISTAKES HAPPEN…THEY ARE NOT EVIL.

  • @ 1107 the fact is We have been customers of sony for a long time, otherwise we wouldnt be voicing our disapointments here. Its not a mistake its a line of mistakes and not just a fumble but a full blown error that should have never happened with he money that company makes. to me loosing my account info is more than a little mistake not to be taken lightly and pat them on the back and say nice job keep up the good work. Its not fair to them? expecially when they refuse to say anything or keep us informed on whats going on? Its not fair to them that they decided to use a network with more holes than swiss cheese without even a firewall? Im not here to argue with you m8.. everyone has there opinon, and I respect yours. you my friend have more trust in this company than I can ever gain back.

  • @joebrothers3, your ps3 just needs cleaned out, it probably has collected a lot of dust which can cause it not to read blue ray or games, it has done it to me twice and when i went to go get it cleaned it was fine

  • @1105 What if your credit card company got hacked and information stolen? Would you want money form them for having to make changes? I’ve been able to make the changes without taking time off from work with no problems in the past. When you put out your cc information, your checking, whatever online no matter who it’s to your taking a risk every time. If I had a dollar credit for everytime someone asked where the store is I wouldn’t have to buy a card for along time.

  • In Japan if infomration that was stolen was used Sony has to pay all that money back. The Japanese goverement as well as the credit card companies were the one who wanted to make sure the network was strong. What they get I asume we get. Every country has different rules and regulations. They will bring up the store when they can that’s all there is to it. Yes I know it’s frustrating but what can you do? Saying your going to go to another company that’s your choice. Calling people names and saying there are plants? Read the side don’t be a jerk. I would rather know that the network is running the way it should. Yelling and screaming gets no one anywhere.

  • Sony won’t answer until they are ready. I see asking as being pointless since it seems like at this time they are going with their target date. I have a feeling that based off of the last dates backlash another date would cause more then they want.

  • Has anyone seen the memo that stated this? Because I have a hard time buying that they would send a date out and nothing on here. Now one blog says it may be up and the other one says they are planning. So really there was nothing in store as far as I could see.

  • Part 1 of 2 ..Dear Sony, In regards to your proposed solution to us (the PS3 owners) for becoming victims of a cyberattack on you (Sony)…I am a student and I earn $20.00 a week. I have invested roughly $1320.00 in your products. I am not pleased. I spend $200.00 on a bundle of Guitar Hero World Tour, 1 Drum Kit, 1 Microphone, I Guitar Controller and the video game. Only to find out about two weeks later I have a defective drum kit(Red Pad was Broken). I went to the store where I bought it and exchanged for a new one. Just as I started enjoying my game the Yellow Cymbal, Orange Cymbal, and Kick Pedal broke on me. I am not a 400 pound Gorila smashing at the kit with lead clubs. So I contacted the makers of the drums and said, ” I have had these drums break on me twice…” and i went on to say how bad they were. What they said was that I send the drums to them and they will replace the parts. After two weeks of shipping and processing I got my drum parts back.

  • Just a question… I know you are doing all that you can to restore services to everyone… but do you have any idea when the PS Store will be back up and when we will get some of the promised free downloads and memberships, as discussed while we had no service on the network for almost a month…? As my purchasing games sometimes revolves on demos?? And i would love to have all services back up and running. Thanks

  • Part 2…Now being about a month later I have a drum kit with a blue pad that goes off randomly, a yellow cymbal that doesn’t detect 60% of hits, a kick pedal that doubles most kicks(its not because of they way I use the kick) and an orange cymbal that doesn’t register sometimes. This is only a piece of the game. The guitar controller was something I thought that was well made… I was wrong within days of acquiring it the whammy bar broke and became unusable. Not to mention how misleading your packaging has been for the multiple rockband, guitar hero, and band hero titles I bought, thinking that I could import the songs to my main games and play all of them…only to find out…not quite (Sony wants another $10 per title to allow me to import them! Thanks for showing that on the packaging before I bought these titles.)

  • The Store won’t be opening on May 31st, Sony won’t tell us it isn’t opening until the 31st, they also won’t tell us when it will actually open. It will probably open June 7th, or June 14th I have no proof of this it’s just a feeling I have.

  • @ 1130 I have the same feeling on this and I believe thats why we havent had an update on this in so long. and if that’s the case that we get an update on the 31st saying “sorry for the inconvenience but the system in still undergoing testing and we are still working around the clock to fix the issue” with a new target date. that will be the last straw for me. for me I want a system that fully works, and Im not waiting any longer in the dark on when things will be retored (security/online/store) to a company Ive inveted so much money in. wich sucks I use to love sony. Ive just lost my faith in what they can/can not do anymore.

  • Sometimes the best thing to do is to do something worth while. I say why not start sending a large amount of messages to Sony Customer Service and see if that will light a fire. Of course it may not.

  • @1138 Calling customer services won’t bring the store up any faster. Look at all the people leaving comments on here asking for the store. Sure most of them are the same people over and over again, but there’s still people coming here just to ask when the store will be up. That hasn’t brought the store up any faster has it? So what would calling customer services do to bring the store up? My guess is the same result as the people asking for the store here has done. Which is nothing, they’ll put the store up when they feel like it. It’s clear they’re in no rush, and the May 31st date is a target date, it’ll most likely be a week or two into June before we get the store back.

  • Clearly what I was meanings point was missed. Normaly if customers email or call a customer service rep about an issue the company may release a statement. That’s why I said it may or may not work. Do you guys really think they read all of these blog posts? That they will answer from this?

  • It was just a thought is all. I really think they need to make a statement before the 31st.

  • Probably not all of them, since they can’t answer anyone’s questions. When they actually do answer a question on the blog, it’s a brief as possible and offers no pertinent information. If they do read the blog posts, its probably the first page or two because usually replies are given within the first two pages.

  • I’ve noticed that as well and it seems it’s to show they are reading them. That’s why I think people asking about when the store will be up a waste of time. What you get is what they put in the blogs.

  • My way of thinking was more if customer service gets flooded with questions about the store there is a chance someone may go to a supervisor. The supervisor may tell them to give a blanket response or go to their sup. Now I know this may not work but it would get peoples attention. That or they ignore us. Take it or leave it. I mean no disrespect towards Sony in any way or to cause them trouble but we do need answers.

  • It’s funny to see Sony just posting away on the blog like nothing is wrong while multiplatform games being released on the PS3 w/ those online passes are totally gimped while 360 owners get to play online. You’re dropping the ball BIG time Sony. Separate these idiotic online passes from the store so we can at least redeem this junk to play our games online. The online pass shouldn’t have anything to do with the store or credit card info! SHEEZ!!!
