With the UNCHARTED 3 Multiplayer Beta launching TODAY, Tuesday, June 28, we want to make everyone has full details! We’ve compiled a handy little UPDATED list of Frequently Asked Questions below. If you’ve got any other questions, let us know in the comments and we’ll answer what we can!
When can I start playing?
Tuesday, June 28, for all inFAMOUS 2 and current PlayStation Plus members, who all get early access to the UNCHARTED 3 Multiplayer Beta.
If you’re not an owner of inFAMOUS 2 or a current PlayStation Plus member, we’re opening the floodgates to the UNCHARTED 3 Multiplayer Beta for EVERYONE on Tuesday, July 5.
What time EXACTLY can I start playing?
When the PlayStation Store updates today. While we can’t guarantee an exact time the UNCHARTED 3 Multiplayer Beta will likely start propagating on the PSN Stores around the world at around 2:00 PM PDT (what time is that in my city?).
It may not be available right at that time, as there are a lot of things involved into making this happen, so please be patient if you don’t spot it immediately. Keep an eye out on the Naughty Dog Twitter and we’ll update as soon as we know it’s gone live.
When does the Beta end?
The UNCHARTED 3 Multiplayer Beta will end on Thursday, July 14.
What modes and maps are available?
Throughout the three weeks of the Beta, we’ll be rotating through a variety competitive and co-op gametypes, along with access to three different maps.

Wait, what’s the Hardcore gametype and why haven’t I heard about this yet?
We’re revealing a brand new competitive gametype with today’s update – one that has been specifically requested by many members in our community!
The Hardcore gametype is Team Deathmatch stripped down to the core basics – no Boosters, no Medal Kickbacks, and no Power Plays. Weapon Mods are still available – be sure to head to the UNCHARTED 3 Multiplayer Beta discussion forum and let us know what you think about how Weapon Mods feel within this gametype, along with anything else that you want to tell us!

Will Power Plays be active? What weapons will I have? What characters can I choose to play with? Will I be able to customize them? And Emblems?
Power Plays are active, so if you’re in a match that is decidedly lopsided, you’ll get to experience it. As far as weapons, we’ve got a good range of sidearms and long guns to use and unlock in the beta, such as the AK-47, G-MAL, Para – 9, M9 and more! You’ll only get to choose between a few characters, but you’ll have access to a limited set of customization options to personalize your character on both the Heroes and Villains team. You can also check out our Emblem editor and create your own custom emblems.
Can I play in Stereoscopic 3D and/or use split-screen?
YES! Yes, you can. But not at the same time.
Can I see my Facebook Friends list?
Yes, all of your Facebook Friends that have linked their Facebook account via their PS3 will appear on the Facebook Friends list in our multiplayer menu. Feel free to send them an invite to play the UNCHARTED 3 Beta!
Can I upload videos and photos to Facebook or YouTube?
No, that functionality is not available during the Beta.
Will my Beta progress or unlocks carry over to the final game?
No, what happens in the UNCHARTED 3 Multiplayer Beta stays in the Beta, however we’ve lined up some killer rewards for the retail version of UNCHARTED 3 if you keep playing in the Beta:
- Download the UNCHARTED 3 Beta and receive the exclusive UNCHARTED 3 PSN Beta Tester Avatar!
- Complete 10 matches in every mode of Competitive Multiplayer and receive the Exclusive Beta Decal Pack 1!

if naughtydog is watching my comment right now , i just want to tell that when I started uncharted 3 mp beta when I started my match the screen was black I could only hear the sounds of the game then i waited then i tryed again but the same thing happend and thats the problem that happend with me so after a little while that didnt happen again but i am just telling this because ib dont want this problem to happen with me again plz read this coment naughtydog i am very big fan but it dosent matter your games always rule no matter which game comes infront

Finally was able to get connected, and played about 2 co-op games and 2 competitive matches with my brother. I’ll say this, we got dominated in the competitive. I guess, we’ve got to get use to it & rank up.
The Uncharted 3 beta has so many bugs that Naughty Dog should hire an exterminator.

We do accept that beta has normally many issues .. But , this is true if the problems occur within the game
itself but if the problems are spreading to PS3 system and hardware . These things are unacceptable
The game looks really amazing and I enjoy playing the beta but once the PS3 shuts off I stopped playing

Even if my friends list is full on PSN I can actually interact n play with tons more of my friends thanks to facebook? Just sweet!! System freezing when existing a game not during the actual game. Also people are laying the floor when they’ve been shot and did not re spawn.

BETA wasn’t that good…And it took so much bullets to kill one single person.
Now that i have played it a couple of times i can say i like UNCHARTED 2 Multiplayer better. Uncharted 3 takes too many shots to kill someone. The guns might be too “under powered”. I play Uncharted 2 everyday & i can say i much rather play UC 2 right now better. please fix it to where they die just as fast as UC 2 or i dont think i will be play the Online mode for UC3

Ok here the deal with UC3 Its not laggy for me i can get in fine the gameplay is smooth, but after i finish one match it freezes my ps3 i thought it was only tdm. It seems like its all game modes my friends is not doing this and hes been playing all day if this happens again ima try to delete and redownload.
the beta is extremely fun
For me it’s a lot better than yesterday. Didn’t get disconnected, signed out of PSN, or have my PS3 freeze for the 30min that I played. Most of the bugs I had mentioned are still there though.
With that said, I love co-op! ^_^ Besides SP, I think I’ll be playing co-op the most when I buy this game.
I love the high five, it’s so fun & funny to use it in certain situations. Total stranger just giving each other high fives. Like the 3 of us hanging from the ledge, then one by one we pull 4 guys off and we survive survival mode. Or tossing the treasure ahead of each other as we ran to the goal to finish that round in just a few seconds. lol

AMAZING GAME, seen alot of glitches though
I played a couple rounds of co-op yesterday and although it got a little repetetive it worked fine for me. No issues. Lookin forward to see other levels later on but I understand this is a beta after all. Graphics look amazing! Drake’s hair even looked more real, imo. Gameplay was ok but like others already mentioned it took a while to kill someone at times even when shooting in the head.
Just the beginning but I like what I see so far!

This is the worst beta that I ever seen, I eliminate this *thing* after the xmb was freezing, my videos and games as well so…. this was a complete deception

Wheres the outfit customization at????? Or lots of different characters to choose from. Or even being able to customize your character. No one wants to look the same. Black Ops left out that part and so did you guys.

You guys need a person like me on your staff /team. At least I have creative & practical ideas that actually make the game more enjoyable and fun.

So much potential in customization not utilized.
I have a couple of questions which I’ve not seen anywhere yet. namely what characters will be playable beyond the obvious sully & drake? Will elena & chloe be available to female gamers. Or for that matter what weapons will be available when the full game is available? maybe a list of each is would be good. My personal preference is the M4 playing as either Elena (usually) or Chloe. I’d also like to know if survival, seige, and gold rush will be returning, those 3 along with the online co-op were my most often played modes in UC2. Since I play UC2 primarily online lacking all of those would be a definate deal breaker.
so when are they gonna fix this freezeing issue i love the game i want to play it but it keeps freezeing after every match
Did you guys think completing 10 matches of every competitive mode and 5 matches of every co-op mode seems a tad extreme for getting the tester decals, especially when the co-op matches last roughly 20 min? Granted my favorite thing so far has been co-op, as it always has been. Also, where there be difficulty levels in the co-op like there was in uncharted 2 mp? I would have thought the decals should be for playing every mode and then two more for playing a total number of each type (co-op vs. competitive). Instead of playing 60 competitive matches and 15 co-op matches, it should be 15 matches total (10 competitive and 5 co-op). A minimum of 15 hrs or gameplay seems excessive in my opinion.
UC3 MP Fixes:
1.) Gun recoil needs to be adjusted.
(I want UC2 style.)
2.) I go pick up guns by hitting Triangle it doesn’t always work.
3.) Damage levels are too high for players.
(If people want 1.04 back so bad then put in the hardcore mode.)
4.) Guns are way under powered.
(Please adjust it.)
5.) Sprinting.
(I don’t want the camera to zoom in on me when I’m running.)
6.) Fix the movement, jumping and other actions of the characters.
(Keep the fluid motion of UC2 please.)
7.) Regional Matchmaking?
(Being able to select regions in your area will reduce the lag and make it more smoother when playing.)
8.) Uncharted TV
(Those vids should go under Cinema Mode.)
9.) Melee system
(I thought it was fine in UC2.)
10.) Can you bring back gold guns in UC3?
11.) Grenades
(Put a timer on the grenade. 3 second timer minimum.)
12.) Sniper Rifles
(Make it just like UC2 offered. I want to switch arms when I shoot.)

Tried playing yesturday, kept getting kicked beofre I could even get into a game.
Then when I finally restarted and got into a game a few minutes in and everything started slowing down really bad and dropping frames until inevitably my PS3 froze like a block of ice.
I remember the UC2 beta was really hard on my PS3 too.
To this day the loudest my PS3 fan ever got was while playin the UC2 beta.
The full disc based game didnt do this.
Anyone else having really bad slow down in this beta? I will try again tonight and hopefully have better results.
I love me some Uncharted and been a loyal fan since part one was released, but so far this beta feels a lot like UC2. I am really waiting for some defining feature to reach out and grab me. Maybe I should be playing in 3D?
I really hope that this game supports split screen for local coop, and it would be nice to play split screen in 3D.
Keep up the good work, but please be innovative like you were from 1 to 2.
How about vehicles in the MP? Or maybe even animals to ride/hide behind. I envision hanging from the side of a oxen and poping up to catch several enemies by surprise.
i downloaded the beta this morning and it said it required an update. Whenever I hit OK to start the update, my Playstation 3 resets itself. Any idea why?

You remember the seadoo level from uncharted 1? well how about an online map where you have the option of using seadoos? One guy on the back shooting, one guy driving. Make a level with channels going through it all over and this will be sweet!!! Dont have to use, but can!!
And also from the first game, the supernatural enemies were awesome, please create a coop survival mode where we face these creatures. And maybe even the supernatural enemies from the second game in a similar mode?
I want these modes to feel like a real survival horror game, limited ammo, unlimited enemies = sickness!
With the climbing it would be freaky tryin to escape onto ledges, and then the enemies start ripping down walls and structures to get you down.

Will this game support Move? will it support sixaxis grenade throws again? Please say yes.
How about letting us choose our own level of 3D, as in what sticks out/in and what does not.
I think the player should def stick into the room and as such any object/people I get near should stick out the same amount.
The HUD needs to stay level with the tv screen, if this means I block it sometimes, perhaps it should simply become reverse transparent so it can still be seen when covered. As in everything that covers it becomes transparent.
I want the screen to come out and touch me, with Move and 3D if the 3D isnt all the way out you lose some immersion.
