  • Oh, almost forgot, big thanks to SNK and Hudson for re-releasing the games for their consoles! Never thought I would see Neo Geo and TurboGrafx-16 games on my Playstation, but I definitely don’t mind! I love having some SNK collections on my PS2 as well like Metal Slug Anthology and Samurai Shodown Anthology. It’s just like having an MVS machine except not as bulky!

  • I agree with that. Im a collector myself and have some rare games but I don’t get my panties in a wod if they re release them. Like I said most people that pirate games do it because there is no reasonable way to play the games. Ive bought almost every PSone game on PSN (except the worthless crap), and to me it feels better having the OFFICIAL versions and not bootlegs. Same gos with movies. I got about 1,000 DVDS and Blurays. If someone wants to play a hard to find game is that really all that wrong for them to bootleg it? You can buy them used somewhere (like ebay) but developers don’t get that money either. If developers/publishers dont want to release it (or just cant) and don’t want your money then why not? You just better buy it officially if it’s released.

  • Hey, I’m all for spending money on games. But honestly, week after week people get on here and complain about the lack of PS1 titles. I would prefer these game developers to not worry about releasing this and worry about making new games. I mean how many SE titles have we seen pushed off into neverland? And psn goes down, but people still want their PS1 games. Times are changing and Sony needs to be more focused on the future not the past.

  • Oh and in response to the being selfish about Panzer Dragoon Saga. Its probably a good thing it can never be recreated because the guy who made it is making a New title for the Kinect instead of some lame remake just so other people can play it. I’m all ready for the next title.

  • @Wez455
“If someone wants to play a hard to find game is that really all that wrong for them to bootleg it?”
That’s the point. Digital re-releases are the only way of getting these hard-to-find / rare-expensive games legally.
I myself had to download Ninja Baseball Bat Man on the Arcade Emulator, because waiting for it to be released on PSN is like waiting for a thunderbolt to strike my head.
Buying used surely is another option. But the availability surely won’t be enough to satisfy everyone who is interested. Digital versions are the answer. You see, its not just for the developer support, but pirating games just for the sake of playing the game (despite being able to buy it at a reasonable price) just feels wrong.

Just like I said, people are just eager for releases who were previously announced or are already available in EU and JP stores. Its not like the developers are going for a big deal of work, they just need to encode (or whatever) these games for our region. Rarely have I seen someone asking for a game that has never been released on any store.
And you can bet they surely are making tons of new games. Everyday you are seeing more and more posts on this blog. How about Resistance 3, Ratchet and Clank All4One, Modern Warfare 3, El Shaddai and so many others?
I guess we can all be focused on BOTH the past and the future. There are tons of classic games that can give you an experience even more cheap and enjoyable than some PSN titles or even PS3 retail ones. Surely, it depends on your preferences, but you will never know unless you try them, right?

  • @DJNorthSky
I guess it’s still not a good thing that PDS can never be recreated, but technology can always surprise us again in a few years. If they could bring us the Arcade X-Men, it won’t be too far until they get this working. Remember: Radiant Silvergun is getting a HD XBLA release.
I deeply regret not having bought Panzer Dragoon Orta during the brief time I had the original XBox. I am a fan of the series, getting 100% on all 3 Saturn games.

  • Hey man youre right. I’ve just been steamed in the past, getting a game and watching it get released digitally for cheap. But i do have box and booklet for all mine. PDS’s code has been lost and team disbanded, but I’m excited for the creators new Kinect title. I would like to see all three parts of Shning Force 3 translated and redone. I beat the first part (only english part). And i guess im feeling shafted. I havent bought a new ps3 game since LBP2. That was Q1. Im eager to play new things but they just didnt come this summer.

  • I think the remake for Ico and Shadow is cool being in 3d and cleaned up, but i get the feeling that remake has been causing delays for Last Guardian. I have both games and i will get the remake, but im ready to get the third installment already.

  • The best thing about that drop is Dragon Age Origins on PSN. Especially since Awakening is already available, which means now you won’t need a disk to play at all.

God if Vita is able to play Playstation 3 games off PSN, this will be a very good buy!

  • About SF3, you would like to see this website: hxxp://sf3trans*shiningforcecentral*com
change xx for tt and * for .
They are about to finish the 2nd and going for the last one.

  • Oh man. The thing that sucks about Shining Force…..Sega owns the rights to it. Had Camelot held onto the rights we might of see a translation already or a number 4. Thanks for the info man. I’ll be swinging you a friend request on psn soon.

  • WAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! I’m still looking for Battletoads!! WHERE IS IT!!!?

…nah, nothing I want this week from PSN, but I did throw money down on some upcoming titles. I just feel like the PSN is a little slow in getting stuff out like they promised after the whole hacking incident. Not gonna cry about it, but I’d definitely like to see more come out than what’s BEEN put out. =) That’s just the inner nerd in me talking, though.

  • um where is the new demo’s for the new games releasing in august because it’s august the 2nd and no bleach soul ressurrecion demo

  • lol my comment is done at 11.00 when i posted at 2:00 psn blog fix ur issues

  • Rey, is it a drop for Monday or for full week?! If it is for FULL week you missed couple of CRAZY tittles *wink* *wink*
Level 5 *head down* PLEASE forgive him… He didn’t mean to MISS White Knight Chronicles II… Oh. boy SONY you killing me with pleasure this year (more specifically my wallet)

  • I seriously hope there is more than this stuff !

  • hope there will be more deals this week unannounced on the update today. Hopefully a surprise like the 2k and thq deals. If not its gonna be a weak update.

  • also would be nice if week could get the homestar runner stuff on sale like the euros did.

  • If Final Fantasy 6 isnt out by September, im buying the Wiis VC version! Even if it wont be as good.

  • Fantasy_473, why don’t you just buy 5 and 6 on Amazon for like 15 bucks AND get a physical disk? Not a big deal.

  • Got super busy yesterday and didn’t realize the PSOne conversation continued… I’m a bit late but here’s my last piece:

Vinland Krauser, bmrskate, and Wez455, thanks for supporting the preservation and continued availability of these classics.

Also, some of DJNorthSky’s earliest comments hadn’t posted yet when I made mine(!?) I just saw them. DJNorthSky – I totally understand your frustration! I’m a huge collector and take great pride in my numerous rare and expensive games as well. I would not want to see these titles disappear into oblivion though. Remember! We still have the original discs and artwork. That keeps our collections valid indefinitely.

As for those who missed the PSOne generation, my wife is almost 10 years younger than me. She is playing many of these classic titles for the first time and is completely blown away by how awesome they are. Proof that there is more to classic gaming than a ”cool, aesthetic reminder of how fun games started”.

  • OMG I will get Bleach no matter what.I expect this game since blade battles from PS2.

  • FORGET KH:BBS as a japan only directors cut came out afterwords…..i want that on psn. These weekly drops can be a total waste of time 1 week and then make up for it the next week. I’d like things more spread evenly especially when psp is concerned but i’m still waiting on journey for ps3. When vita arrives i expect to be able to play ps3 psn games on it like journey, pixeljunk shooter or some double fine games.

  • Another great week of updates. I can’t wait to not spend any money!

  • Can someone PLEASE give so much as a HINT of a release date for the PSN release of From Dust? Did Microsoft throw so much money at Ubisoft that they won’t even tell us when? Or is From Dust on the PSN going to get delayed into oblivion like Blacklight: Tango Down did?

  • SONY your not doing your jobs. Dragon age is not worth $29.99 Retail. I got, TODAY Dragon age Ultimate Edition for $28.99 (RETAIL) @ frys Electronics. you must not have price watchers and hope that people are stupid and not look for prices to allow your customers to pay that price is robery. and it tells me your not looking at the customers views at all. now download is not retail so why are you TRYING to have people pay RETAIL prices for a downloadable game, and not at the right price at that. Why.

  • I am so sick of buying new controllers every 4 months or so .Any 1 else with this issue

  • Got a question here… Somehow urgent @@

Is there a possibility that Sony makes this bleach game available through the Playstation store?

  • Still no Squall DLC Costume for Dissidia 012: Duodecim Final Fantasy :(
    Sad life.

  • oi wrong page
    sorry

  • it is outrageous that suikoden 2 goes for over 100 dollars now. thats why ppl want it released bc no one should have to spend 100s of dollars to play a ps1 game. my brother owned it and i never got to play it but now that i am 19 would like to play one of the greatest of all time. it would be a great help to PSN to release this game bc it would be preserving from what i hear one of the gratest rpgs of all time. so stop crying about NOT releasing ps1 classics. if your that desperate for 100 dollars and selling ps1 games get a real job. release suikoden 2 please it would be greatly appreciated by anyone that loves classics
