Escape Plan for PS Vita

Hi everyone and guten tag from Cologne, Germany! Some of you may know me as one of the collaborative partners with SCEA Santa Monica Studios for the award-winning PlayStation Network exclusives, Fat Princess and Fat Princess: Fat Roles. I’m not only here to introduce Fun Bits Interactive to you, but to also introduce Escape Plan, as one of the upcoming titles for the PlayStation Vita. Escape Plan made its debut on Tuesday at the Sony Computer Entertainment Europe press conference and I have to express how thrilled I have been to see how well it has been received by colleagues and media alike throughout the week.

Placing bite-sized entertainment in the palm of your hands, Escape Plan features two hapless characters, Lil and Laarg, who have been captured and need your influence, skill and brainpower to escape from a dark labyrinth of irreverent puzzles and traps. Escape Plan takes advantage of the PlayStation Vita’s multi-touch display, rear touch panel and swipe interfaces. Players can swipe, squeeze, poke and slap these guys to interact and manipulate the environment and help Lil and Laarg survive each deadly room before their captor and nemesis recycles them and turns them into his minions … or sheep.

Escape Plan for PS Vita

For those of you who haven’t seen anything on Escape Plan yet, watch the video above for a peek of what is in store for you next spring on PS Vita.

I hope you are excited for Escape Plan as much as we are! Lil and Laarg will be as fun to watch in victory as they will in the hilarious agony of defeat. We look forward to reaching out to our fans and will continue to keep you posted on anything related to Escape Plan, so please continue to check back here on the PlayStation.Blog for more information!

  • Looks cool think i may get it. Any online co-op?

  • Question for Chris Millar: Does the number on their stomach increase every time they die? :p

    • Chris Millar
      Chris Millar

Hey FearMonkey, you got it – their #’s increase with every splat.

  • Looks great but what happened to Fat Princess? Is it done? No patches? updates? Anything? 14 months waiting and no news :/

  • at 15 , increase or decrease ? i thought it meant the number of lives they had left

  • @17 – the trailer starts with them at zero, so I assumed they start with zero and it goes up. Part of the score you get on the level might be based on how low the number is on their stomach upon completion. Was my guess anyway.

  • at 18 , yea that could be a possibility too , hope they mention something about it today

  • Bring it to PS3’s PSN soon to? :P

  • sry about the profanity but this game gorgeous. gotta get the vita

  • What a GREAT game! Reminds me of Machinarium… :-) I loved it! Will definitely get this one!

  • Looks so awsome.

  • plaztiksyke

Looks really neat. I hope that the facial animations are as detailed in-game as they are in the cinematic.

Will puzzles have multiple solutions like Stacking?

Will it support saving in the cloud storage and resuming on PS3?

  • theXsilentXchild

  • EL_MACHO_GUERO

    games I mean lol

  • EL_MACHO_GUERO

I’m also hoping you could play game co op online!

  • …ok

  • That’s an awesome looking game, very cool and original!! Unfortunately I have zero interest in portable gaming devices, so PLEASE make a PS3 version of it for those of us not into that!!

  • SoleAddict23

What should do is allow for PS3 owners to play their games on their PSVita and their Vita games on their PS3, of course without the need of any device being connected to the internet, or the game being in either device or either device being in an unuseable state like how the PS3 is currently when it’s in Remote Play mode. You would need to own a PS3 and a Vita and the game on one of the consoles. This would increase PS3 and Vita sales as well as sales for the games. Having to own a copy of each game on each device is a HUGE F You to consumers and extremely greedy and uncalled for.

Also, on Vita there must be multiplatform games like Street Fighter X Tekken for Vita owners that don’t own a PS3/360. Exclusive, completely new entries in current franchises like Uncharted: Golden Abyss for PS3/360 owners because PS3/360 will have no reason to get a port of a game they can get on their PS3/360. Also, new IPs.

  • ILOVEPLASTATION3

This looks so original and clever. Nice game Sony!

  • Extremely frustrating and hilarious .. I love it!

  • When i first saw the trailer i thought it was a deformed PATAPON.

  • This is the kind of game that’s going to put the PSVita a step in the right direction. It’s good to see that Sony is really thinking this through and is commited to delivering true portable, casual, fun games to the system.

I for one was very excited to see them make this announcement. I was a bit worried at the fact that Sony would get too carried away with trying to emphasize the whole “Consol Quality” crap, and slowly loose their support in the system, but this has me thinking otherwise. The Smartphone guys can eat their words for all I care. Vita is really proving it’s the ultimate handheld device to beat.

  • This is game like that that will make me want a PS Vita. It looks very nice.

  • This game reminds me of LIMBO, and that’s a good thing!

  • LIMBO meets Nightmare before Christmas. I love it.

  • this game looks amazing. i’m so ready for the the vita

  • blackghost826

Escape Plan looks fantastic, same with almost all the other upcoming PS Vita games!

For everyone asking when it will be released, it says at the bottom of the post “next spring on the PS Vita”.

Thank you Sony for making the best games and consoles! Keep it up!

  • Now i want a ps vita!!!!!! Great video!!!

  • Keysersoze10033

    Looks great!
