We recently announced our partnership with DIRECTV to bring their most popular sports subscription service, NFL SUNDAY TICKET, directly to you via your PlayStation 3. Starting later today, you can access the direct link in the My Channels category under the TV/Video Services icon on the XMB (XrossMediaBar) or head over to the media category of the PlayStation Store to download the app in anticipation of the new 2011 NFL season.
This Sunday, PS3 owners without access to DIRECTV will be able to live stream every out-of-market Sunday NFL game on their PS3 with a subscription to NFL SUNDAY TICKET. You’ll be able to enhance your NFL experience with live multi-game scoreboards and field position trackers, which also allow you to access highlights, stats, standings and schedules, as well as the Red Zone Channel, which gives you live coverage of Sunday’s most exciting moments. The subscription for the 2011 season can be purchased directly through the app for $339.95. Existing subscribers can use the PS3 as an additional receiver in their home, as part of their NFL SUNDAY TICKET To-Go package, which is purchased through DIRECTV.

@Theaggresor if you had direct tv with the NFL ticket that would also be true. No Thursday or Monday night games. NFL Network is a separate channel…it sucks but it is like that either way.

Does anyone know if you can also get sunday ticket to go for your computer/phone as an add-on if you purchase Sunday ticket through PS3? It seems like you need a directv account to purchase that feature?
@MBROADWAY7 – All i did was added 2 50 dollar psn cards to my wallet and bought it with that. No credit card or anything needed.. I guess i will just need to add money to my wallet every time i have to make a payment.

So what type of Download speeds would i need to watch the games in HD on the Sunday Ticket?
Wirelessly i get around 8.5 mbps but i know if i was wired it would be around 12 mbps. Will those speeds work?
@stevemac21 If you have a reghualr Direct tv account you can access the NFL on other devices..if you go throught the PS3 no only your PS3…But I think you can go to someone else and watch on their PS3 but not at the same time. It would have to be your log in to the PSN.

I just signed up..I used money in my wallet and a PSN card..no problems. So far from the RZ commercial that running when you start the ticket, looks fine and sound is so far so good. Just have to wait and see when a actual game gets started.
3Mbs is less than the 3.5Mbs average bit-rate of SDTV quality with MPEG2 compression. HD should sustain average 8 to 15 Mbs with MPEG4 compression and 19Mbs with MPEG2 compression. Shame on the marketing folks for mis-advertising and the bean counters for limiting the resources the engineers have to work with.

Expect similar results to those obtained with MLB.tv. Reduced visual detail and sharpness, mosquito artifacts and blocking (worse than MLB.tv due to the increased amount of motion), and low bit-rate 2.0 channel sound.

We are about 12 hours away from kickoff and when i go to the nfl app its showing those stupid deion sanders commercials but then cuts into that movie limitless with bradley cooper. WTF!!! If it can’t even loop these commercials without interruption i am screwed. Shelled out the cash and i’m praying that when i wake up tomorrow it works fine. Where the hell would a movie even be able to show up with this app!!! And i assume this movie is streaming from somewhere and it skips/stops and goes back to deion and then freezes…all the deions adds were fine the past few days….saying a prayer and going to bed. god bless america! 9/11/01-9/11/11

so far the nfl network feed in the RedZone and the deion commericals are intermingled (nfl network feed is HD, commercial is SD)….when the games start this better be smoothed out

I’m really starting to regret this. I bought a PS3 yesterday…lol. Stupid. I can already hear the support call in my head: “Do you have any other traffic on your network right now? Are you streaming video anywhere on any other computers? No? Hmm…hold on a second….Oh sir? It must be a bad physical connection between your PS3 and your network. Are you wireless or directly wired? Wired? Oh hold on just a second….Oh sir? It may be that your internet connection isn’t fast enough. Is your internet connection at least 700kbps? Oh its only 24mbps? Well it needs to be at least 700kbps. Oh you say 24mbps is faster than 700kbps but 700 is such a larger number than 24…hold on…….oh sir? It must be that there are a lot of people in your area that also have NFL Sunday ticket. We can really only serve one person per metro area with quality video. Sorry but you’re not it.” I’m screwed. And I gotta vacuum. Yay me.
Yes I’ve tested my bandwidth and my download/throughput is just fine. Sony, you’ve got some serious streaming issues on your hands. The video freezes every 5-10 seconds and won’t reload when I switch feeds. This needs to get fixed given that everyone is paying $340 for a service that’s barely watchable right now.

We will wait and see I guess. If it literally this terrible when the games start, there is no way Sony can’t just throw it away and give everyone a refund. It is literally unwatchable.

I am getting a head ache watching this REDZONE thing cutting in and out of Commercials! I have a wired WIDEBAND connection. Maybe Time Warner is sabotaging this whole thing????

I’m not even able to stream Redzone anymore. It may be that they didn’t even mean for us to be able to see redzone before kickoff anyway. I’m hoping that is the case. I’m staying hopeful until 11:45 CST here!

Im getting the same skipping problems with the Redzone channel…hopefully they are running through some test and everything will be fine 15 min before kickoff. I have noticed that the screen resolution has been improving a bit. I have 24mbs so im hoping to get HD quality, if not im calling 1-800-345-SONY (7669) to complain and get my money back!

I don’t think they ever said there would be a fantasy tracker. I think they just said you can track the stats of each game, which would be useful for those with fantasy teams.

I get 5 seconds of Warren Sapp, 5 seconds of Michael Irvin, and 5 seconds of some crap commercial (I don’t want to turn a nottie into a hottie)…restart the app, and I ge the same 5 seconds. I have a feeling I’ll be asking for a refund.

I can get into the games now but they all freeze about 20 seconds in, and never resume. Also, Philly/St Louis is blacked out in my area? I live in Northern California!!!

hd quality but freezes every 30 seconds or so
I take it all back…freezing every so often and suspect quality once they switched to the game from NFL Today.
I have a really high bandwidth connection, and it is just freezing while trying to watch the game. This really sucks…
