Resistance 3 Invades Today, See the Final Weapon: The Cryogun

James Stevenson's Avatar Posted by Community Lead, Insomniac Games

It’s with a lot of pleasure that I write today’s post. It has been nearly three years since you last played Resistance 2, and in a studio where we keep up a game-a-year schedule, that seems like a very long time to wait. I’m very happy to announce the release of Resistance 3 in North America today, as well as the release across Europe over the next 2-3 days. The team here has poured three years of their lives into bringing you the heroic survival of Joseph Capelli on his cross-country trip to New York.

This brutal alternate 1957 America is our most polished take on the Resistance universe yet. Along the way, you’ll see the dust storm from a Chimeran Terraformer, a flooded town, young rebels fighting to take back St. Louis from the Chimera, haunted mine towns and a snow packed New York City. To make it even better, you can experience the whole game in 2-player co-op, either split-screen or online. Still not sold? Check out the launch trailer –which gives you the first-ever glimpse at the 12th and final R3 weapon: The Cryogun:

For those of you who love multiplayer, Resistance 3 features our most focused experience yet, letting you join fifteen other players in battles located in maps across the world. Our theme for Resistance 3 MP was to create something you could only see in Resistance. The 60-level progression and our new ability and attribute system allows you to create a loadout exactly to your play style, and further establishes our “only in Resistance” theme. You’ve seen two great maps in the beta, Wales (Seaside) and Bogota (Trainyard), and two more great ones at PAX and the Insomniac Community Day (Republic of Chad and Australia). There’s another 8 maps we’ve never shown before, including a snow-packed map and one with some great Chimeran Architecture. We have 4v4 and 2v2 maps as well. In short, we believe that R3 MP is a fully-featured experience.

Resistance 3 Doomsday Edition

For those of you excited about playing with PlayStation Move or the Sharpshooter, Resistance 3 fully supports both. Don’t have Move yet? No problem, the Doomsday Edition contains Resistance 3, the PlayStation Eye, a PS Move Controller, a Nav Controller and a Sharpshooter. Everything you need to repel the Chimeran invasion with the accurate control and aiming precision that Move brings you. Got a 3DTV? You’ll be excited to know the game supports stereoscopic 3D as well.

That said, we aren’t resting. Our team is also happy to reveal the first DLC we will have ready to release on October 4th. The Survival Pack brings you a brand new game mode: Invasion. Invasion requires both teams to divide resources to simultaneously own multiple control points on the map. As you hold the nodes, you’ll receive more points. It hearkens back to the wonderful balance in Resistance: Fall of Man of knowing when to send troops on the offensive, and when to hold other players back. In addition to the Invasion mode, your $3.99 gets you four new skins of the various Survivors in the game, as well as a static XMB theme. Also on October 4th, we will release a patch for ALL players that will bring two new maps with it as well.

We’re very excited to get Resistance 3 into your hands this week. We look forward to playing MP online with you soon!

I am pumped for Resistance 3 today waiting for the mailman, but already announcing your first DLC out next month? Hmm!

How about delaying the DLC longer and coming up with more stuff to add to it. Since when is one game mode and a few skins considered a great DLC to Resistance 3 fans if its not adding a new co-op mode or any new maps, etc? Insomniac could do better. Just sayin.

Maybe im just mad its not an 8 player co-op mode or adding any new maps :)

I have been anticipating this game for two years and all I’m waiting on now is that damnn brown truck… Loved the rest of the series and the beta got me hooked. :) even more amazing is the content to price ratio on that dlc! All that for 3.99?! Well in Insomniac, well in…

Grabbing my copy in about an hour! Really amped up for the game! I have been avoiding videos and the like; I even avoided playing the Beta. Getting some great reviews already (check out the 9.0 on IGN); congratulations Insomniac team.

I picked my copy as soon as it hit the store. Gotta say I’m obssessed with Resistance 3 since the moment I put my hands on it!

I’ve been playing from 8am (woke up just to play as I couldn’t resist, even though I slept at 4am :P) till 3pm straight. Done with the campaign on Normal.

I’m going to wait now for you guys to release a patch to fix parties so I can play the AWESOME campaign with my friend on Superhuman (looks like a challenge from what I saw on the Normal difficulty).

Please be quick in releasing the patch, and please fix the parties with the coming patch. Don’t do like other devs, they release broken patches. PLEASE fix the issues from the first time. Thanks =)

And one more question, I’ve been begging you guys to fix the “Network error, disconnecting from netowrk (20000013)” error since the Beta days. And you guys did not help me =( I wonna play the MP so bad. I tried port forwarding, DMZ, nothing worked. I get this error in-game in the middle of matches and in the Matchmaking if I sat down there too long finding players. Any solution to this error? please help, I bought the game and am in love with it, don’t disappoint me!

Oh and please work and focus on fixing the bugs that are preventing me from playing a game I BOUGHT rather than working on DLC for a broken MP.

You really need better marketing. This game looks amazing yet you failed to market it well at all.
Pre orders were low and at a time when you are competing against so many other shooters you failed to put this game in the public’s eye.

This doesn’t even come close to making up for the completely abusive psn pass nor the fact the discs were pressed wif massive online bugs before the beta was completed. Just goes to show this is a cash grab. I’m a long time fan of resistance but will avoid this dog like the plague. Oh yeah nice try on the propaganda comments, not credible in the least but nice try anyways. Actual advertising would’ve got you far more attention but then that costs money, even more than running a beta test as a real test not as a lame marketing stunt that we all know it was.

Dantes_Ragnarok said:

Umm but that DLC should have been be included in the game…
didn’t we played that mode on the beta?
btw, can we delete the beta now? how are we suppose to get the hale MP skin?

I live in Saudi Arabia and I just bought a copy of Resistance 3 and I’m having troubles going online (server timed out).

The same thing happened to me in Resistance 3 beta after updating it to v 2.03 (it worked fine before that).
Searching the web; it seems like the problem has to do with the game port being blocked by the internet service provider in Saudi Arabia “STC” (yes, everyone in the country is having the same problem)

So if you could change the port via update or contact STC to find a solution I would be thankful.

My copy arrived at my house, the tracking says. So I have to wait to get home from work. Gah, the afternoon is taking to long.

And I agree, stop complaining about online passes. The company that made the game wants the money they deserve. Buy new. Wouldn’t you want to be paid for your hard work?

“Our theme for Resistance 3 MP was to create something you could only see in Resistance.”

Oh, so that is why you built the R3 MP around the CoD perk/killstreak system.

Seriously, 3 years to make a sci-fi CoD. Insomniac needs some Lunesta, STAT!
