PlayStation Store Update

Hi Everyone –
We say goodbye to 2011 with one last PlayStation Store update; just in time for those looking to warm the winter nights with some great content from PlayStation Network.

New PSN Games this week include All Zombies Must Die. This twin-stick shooter is taken to lofty new heights with a bevy of RPG features, four player co-op and optional PlayStation Move support. You’ll also want to check out Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD. This remake of the influential original puts you in the shoes of the High Plains Drifter with an all new coat of paint that you won’t want to miss.

The Splinter Cell HD Collection released earlier this year, but it’s now broken up into individual games. Want to pick up only one title in the trilogy? Now you can. The original Trilogy bundle is of course, still available, and may stand as the better deal should you wish to purchase all three.

Two great new additions in the PS3 Full Game category are also arriving this week. For an amazing gaming experience for all ages, you can now download Carnival Island, playable with PlayStation Move. Packed with a ton of great games and activities, you’ll be amazed how it uses the Move controller to create an entirely new sense of immersion. Motorstorm Apocalypse arrives as well, where you’ll race in an almost completely abandoned city that offers the perfect playground for MotorStorm’s electric brand of brutal street racing.

That’s it for the year! From everyone at PlayStation, thank you for a wonderful 2011, and we look forward to sharing more amazing experiences only available on PlayStation Network in 2012!

  • Man i was hoping for some new bundles… is this really it….. *sigh i guess ill get myself RDR bundle

  • thanks for another week of great content!

  • Wow this is a really small update. And nothing appealing to me… Oh well

  • Anything to look forward to in 2012? PSN-related? or are u not allowed to reveal or even hint at it?

    • Journey and Papa y Yo are two titles we’ve announced for 2012 that will really define what it is to game on PSN. Watch for news on these titles next year!

  • Looks like you used the All Zombies must die! Description for Oddworld

  • Earliest update of the year…funny and ironic…This is how should be all year in each weekly update.

  • Kind of a weak update, but at least it’s early.

  • Wait, where’s Klonoa?

  • $60 for Motorstorm!? What a joke!

That game was on sale for $30 most of last month, and the fact that this is a DIGITAL only copy at full price, makes it even worse.

  • You guys really need to fix the digital full ps3 game pricing. I can get motorstorm under 30$ in retail :\

  • Not an impressive store update :/ I want moar of those Winter RPG games to come out, as well as see some new PSP games come over to North America. Totally jealous of the Japanese right now :/

  • This is suppose to be an update? Might as well not even do an update this week. BTW, stop posting “thanks for the great content” because moat updates are trash.

  • yeah #1: zombies must die isn’t oddworld stranger’s wrath.
    #2: legend of dragoon =(
whelp oh well may get oddworld.

  • great update cause have like 4 games on hold but speaking of motorstorm apocalypse ive tried to get on it a couple of times since probably summer and all it says is connection problems and wont let me play online i want to play that game but it wont let me and its only that game all my other games work fine might have to sell it and buy another racing cause thats my only one!

  • Lamest update…

And when is PSN going to be online for the PS Vita?

  • Whatever happened to Phantasy Star Portable 2? One of the best selling PSP games on PSN last month, this month it’s gone?

  • Also Charging MSRP for downloadable versions of retail games months after release while you give retailers discounts allowing them to charge less then MSRP is just crazy.

  • guys any suggestions i want to get something off PSN but dont really know of any good games i only have OKABU on psn!

  • MS: Apocalypse for $60???

    Hope that’s a typo.

  • Man you guys weren’t kidding when you said this weeks update would be sparse. Will we be seeing Crisis Core:Final Fantasy VII and the two Star Ocean releases for PSP released on the store before the Vita releases? Might give me some added incentive to buy one of those over priced 32 gig memory sticks (why isn’t there a 64 gig or 128 gig stick? why are these so damned expensive?)

  • LOL….. anytime the PSN store update goes up before 5pm EST you know the update is gonna suck

  • Wow @ that MS:A price. Best Buy had it on sale for $5 just a few days ago. I picked it up a couple weeks after launch for only $20 new. Charging $60 for it now is not the way to help an already hurting brand. :(

  • Have the Last of Us dynamic and static themes been fixed? They don’t support 1080p.

  • Motorstorm Apocalypse !!!!!!! hey dont you guys think its time to add Motorstorm Apocalypse to the greatest Hits ? i mean the game got a lot of deals this past holidays and it was even sold out at some online retailers like bestbuy.com , i hope you guys made a typo mistake , it should be $39.99 . btw Motorstorm Apocalypse is my goty 2011 !!!!! happy holidays to all lunatics !!!!

    LUNATICS UNITE !!!

  • All you guys complaining about the small update seem to forget that the PlayStation people also have people they want to spend the holidays with. Most are probably not at work right now, and the ones that are decided to put something out so we, the players, could have something to look at. It’s Christmas and New Years. Kind of a given that it would be like that.

  • Oh and anyone who would pay the prices PSN charges for full retail games, is just plain crazy. They charge you way more on PSN than what u could buy in stores for a lot cheaper

  • so the last update of the year is far and away the worst update of the year. nice.

  • Thats Whats up

  • Not a really good week for updates

  • the PlayStation Blocast guys said we were getting Klonoa today :(

  • Worst update of the year i agree, well they already release everything, we can’t ask too much. for the next on January has to be amazing, wonder what they will give free for PS+

  • blogcast* sorry

  • Thanks for more Oddworld

  • Gotta say, these holiday store updates have been pretty pathetic. You guys have been thoroughly creamed by Steam this year. Try stepping up your game next year.

  • Eh… nothing really good this week. I was interested in MotorStorm Apocalypse but then seen it was $60. Bring the price down and you’ll have a buyer.

  • I think it’s funny people were expecting a great update right after Christmas.

I’ll be getting AZMD, Oddworld, and possibly Klonoa.

  • Earliest update ever. Motorstorm Apocalypse was underappreciated but you guys are out of your minds charging full price. Its almost the price of a rental at retail. I’m getting Oddworld.

  • the beginning of the new year in the past on PSN has always been just as bad as the end of the year update, so i wouldnt get your hopes up too much

  • Haha, wow well so much for holding out for the holiday sale. I thought there was going to be a bunch of the best selling games on sale. Oh well there is always next year.

  • Oh man, no Rock Band 3 songs?? For the first time in months, I was truly extremely excited for the new songs this week. Gahhhh

  • Guess I’ll buy the two PSN Games to play later besides that nothing else since I have Splinter Cell and I’ll try the two FULL PS3 games.

It’s funny that you guys put the Motorstorm Apocalypse game for $59.99 I though it would have been at least $29.99 or $39.99 the most. Um what’s with the description of Oddworld: Strangers Wrath HD is it the SAME GAME never knew it had zombies. There goes the proofreading should have posted it later so, you could check to make sure everything is right. STOP COPYING AND PASTING.

@everyone: They mention that it wasn’t going to be a big update cause the year is over it always happens at this time.

  • Just checked the Store and Klonoa was on it!

  • Heads up, Grace. Oddworld has the description for All Zombies Must Die. You may want to fix that. :-)

  • @2 “thanks for another week of great content!”

What’s up with the same generic auto-reply comment every week? Care to expand on that, because many weeks I just don’t see this “great content” you’re referring to. Certainly not this week.

  • Rather than laying down another boring old ‘review’ I’ll just leave these statistics here.

    motorstorm apocalypse at ebgames ^

    just wow….

  • I expect complainers and I have whined many times on this blog, but some of you people need to relax.

This update follows Christmas and is before New Years. You are lucky to even get an update today at all.

Of course it is not going to be a powerhouse update, get your expectations in check, geez.

  • @ megamixer Dang Sony really didn’t want to talk to us once you take a good look at those numbers; just what kind of house is Tretton and Hirai running?

  • I would like to get Carnival Island for the kids, but since they just got a bunch of new toys, I might as well wait for a sale or price drop.

My feedback, there are many retail games I would be willing to buy on PSN, but the pricing is consistently out of line with retail. I would love having the game on my hard drive, but I am not willing to pay a premium for that option.
