PlayStation Store Update

Hi Everyone –
We say goodbye to 2011 with one last PlayStation Store update; just in time for those looking to warm the winter nights with some great content from PlayStation Network.

New PSN Games this week include All Zombies Must Die. This twin-stick shooter is taken to lofty new heights with a bevy of RPG features, four player co-op and optional PlayStation Move support. You’ll also want to check out Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD. This remake of the influential original puts you in the shoes of the High Plains Drifter with an all new coat of paint that you won’t want to miss.

The Splinter Cell HD Collection released earlier this year, but it’s now broken up into individual games. Want to pick up only one title in the trilogy? Now you can. The original Trilogy bundle is of course, still available, and may stand as the better deal should you wish to purchase all three.

Two great new additions in the PS3 Full Game category are also arriving this week. For an amazing gaming experience for all ages, you can now download Carnival Island, playable with PlayStation Move. Packed with a ton of great games and activities, you’ll be amazed how it uses the Move controller to create an entirely new sense of immersion. Motorstorm Apocalypse arrives as well, where you’ll race in an almost completely abandoned city that offers the perfect playground for MotorStorm’s electric brand of brutal street racing.

That’s it for the year! From everyone at PlayStation, thank you for a wonderful 2011, and we look forward to sharing more amazing experiences only available on PlayStation Network in 2012!

  • Klonoa: Door to Phantomile! This game brings back memories! I played the demo over and over and over in the mornings before school that was on disc II of Ridge Racer R4. $60 for Motorstorm? That’s profanity.

  • I’m happy. This update has KLONOA. I’m happy. So very happy. This update is 5 stars just because of Klonoa. Bring Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil next! And then bully Namco into making Klonoa 3 for PlayStation 3!

  • I really wish the PSN would fix its debit card issues. Living abroad, I have no means of BUYIN new content on PSN anymore. Amazon and GameStop no longer digitally distribute PSN cards, and all I have left is PC game supply which calls me for a personal interview every time. Not only that, but since my vita is tied to my us account, I will be extremely restricted in how to add content to it come february.

  • Legend of Dragoon! Legend of Dragoon! Legend of Dragoon!

  • I’ve been looking forward to Stranger’s Wrath since I heard it was coming out, now that it’s finally arrived I’m conflicted. As a PS+ subscriber I dont expect to pay full price for any release and that coupled with the fact that it’s missing the 3D and Move support we were told it was going to include originally prevents me from purchasing it at the moment. I hardly want to pay full price for something that I’m not even going to play until they update it with 3D/Move support, if as a PS+ member I could have purchased it for 1/2 price like Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica then I would have definitely purchased it and then waited to play it properly when it’s updated.

  • Damn I was hoping Motorstorm Apocalypse would be a bit cheaper. Been meaning to pick up another copy since I gave mine to my dad.

It’s 30-40 bucks new on Amazon. That’s with the physical media and resale value. I don’t even want to pay that.

Might want to adjust your pricing model.

  • The most interesting thing here for me would be those dynamic themes. Any chance we could get Manchester City or Tottenham themes? :D

  • PS+ needs to be more active and have better demos and PSN games

  • i would like to know if the older MADDEN games will be released on PS1 classics , such as MADDEN 98 & so on thanks . that would really make my year

  • Legend. Of. Dragoon.

Also, not buying a Vita till you confirm a way for people to put their UMD games on it. People DO still use those, ya know.

  • I was talking to my friend the other day and she had an idea that I thought would really be awesome if the PS Store had it.

She was telling me how on her Steam account she could gift people things. She said she would love to do that, and after this christmas, I agree completely. There are a bunch of people who wanted to buy me Sonic CD for christmas, but didn’t wanna spend the $20 on a giftcard when the game only costs $5. The worst thing is, they all have PSN accounts with linked bank accounts, so they could easily have gotten me the game had they had a gifting feature to use. Not to mention I could have gotten some of my PSN friend list some gifts, I don’t know all of them in person, so that would have been nice.

So please let the giving spirit of the season convince you to add a feature like this.

And to those whining about how bad of an update this is, if your complaining this week, then you can’t be pleased. If you have all the games that are out right now, you’ve either beaten them all and will never be satisfied, or you haven’t and are just here to whine for no reason, or you don’t like any of the games that have come out, which means you just don’t like games and should probably seek out a new hobby.

  • Great update, got Stranger’s Wrath never played it before and always wanted to play it after hearing about it.

  • i’d like to see Dark Cloud series and Rouge Galaxy on PS2 classics and megaman legend series on PSOne classics this year those games were awesome!

  • I was foolish hopping for something Uncharted related

  • I didn’t really expect an update, or a big one at least, during the holidays and I’m pleasantly surprised, but … I’m still a bit irked by the fact that there’s been no PS2 releases for awhile now.

  • There was a psn update Tuesday? :/ *sigh*

Maybe Arcana Heart 3 will go on sale to ring in the new year :D

  • Where’s the Sonic Generations DLC? Other region PSN stores already have it…

  • I’ll probably still be picking up Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath, but I have to say that the video preview on PSN looks really bad. Was a low res version uploaded on accident? I’ve seen the articles about the graphics upgrade, but everything is jaggy, even the ESRB rating.

  • And on a side note. Congratulations to the PS3 for console of the year per IGN.com :)

  • I hope this doesnt stir any problems but from what I gather Anon is up to their stupid tactics again because they’re stupid cowards who think they’re doing us a favor… please please PLEASE tell me your security will keep them out… I don’t want April to happen again

  • Its the last update of 2011. No goodies ????????????? wheres the celebration . cant belive sony is gonna end the year like this ,, after the year its been for your supportive customers

  • any date for rock of ages and journey yet?

  • Uhh….I was looking forward to the new DLC coming out… That was until I realized that the store has yet to update! Has this happened to anyone else? The store is close to its weekly update already….will I ever get that DLC?! HELP!!!

  • I want to see the next preview already. Give us more preview!

  • Every week I find myself having a good laugh at these weak trolls defending the psn stores bad pricing, broken promises, late delivery dates and utter lack of quality. it’s not just this week, its predominately EVERY SINGLE WEEK with too few exceptions. We can’t blame the holidays for that every week of the year.

One thing thing that hasn’t been said enough is people like megamixer should keep it up. Theres not a lot of honesty showing besides him and a few others. It’s a shame those running the store and others in sony don’t make an effort to communicate more. Really they’re just letting the idiotic trolls speak for them. Especially funny are the amateurish crybabies who come on week after week with the same inept defenses like “thanks so much for all the great content” when there rarely is any. Or resorting to personal attacks which is just silly flamebaiting or accusing those with fewer trophys of “not having credibility”. Trophies do not equal credibility, What one says and especially actions do show credibility or the lack of it.

  • nothing new for January?

  • Where is this weeks update? And Legend of Dragoon as a psone classic!

  • Where’s “The Drop” this week?? Someone’s asleep at the wheel over there!

  • This is bad. Does anyone inside the company have any shame? its not just one bad update. It’s constantly the same poor performance. Don’t tell me the early comment “thanks for the great update” isn’t the most obvious plant you’ve ever seen. Its undeniable. And the excuse of the holidays really doesn’t wash. Christmas and New years didn’t suddenly drop out of the blue completely unexpected. both occur on the same day every year. Psn store has been around long enough that they could easily plan ahead for releases well before the holidays. The apathetic manner in which this company treats its customers is infantile. But hey if they feel they don’t need any more income I won’t complain about not spending money on their inadequate content.

  • they should put gta san andreas in playstation store xbox has it in their store

  • I wasn’t going to join in on all this pointless ranting & whining but I’ve really had enough of this crap. First thing, the scheduled maintenance is them implementing small changes as you the user complains about damn near everything needing improvement. They are working to better their product so they can maintain a decent market with their competition. Second thing the difference between development across consoles, the XBOX 360 was not Microsoft’s first run around with network access, they had years of implementation and correction of their network capabilities. Yes their network features may be ahead but Sony is greatly increasing with time, it takes tons of money to make these little changes even though we the customers only view them as a few megabytes.

  • Third thing, the PSone games, we all know that Rayman, Dynamite Heady, Legends of Dragoon, Tales of Legaia, Tales of Destiny, Saga Frontier, Lomax, Gex, Twisted Metal and a ton more are all games we’d love to see. What people don’t understand is that different companies own the rights to these games whether they are on Sony’s systems or not and they are helping with the development most likely. If one company can release and get their product out first then so be it. Everyone knows that Square better known now as SquareEnix now has one of the biggest archives of games in video game history, their RPGs are amazing but they will take a while to bring them out without flooding the online store and the customers with huge updates.

  • . Fourth thing, remember the PS3 lost its compatibility with the PS2 games when certain updates were implemented, even with emulators at that time many games played pretty crappy and now Sony is taking the reins and working on compatibility their self to please the loyal PlayStation fans who miss playing PS2 games on their beloved systems. My final thing to speak on is DLC, realize that I have a 500 GB hard drive, every single PSone game downloaded, soon all PS2 games downloaded and mini games like crazy, I have 138 physical PS3 games in my house, yet my PS3 has 140 GB of space remaining, stop complaining about Cloud Storage, buy a damn bigger HDD and when it runs low Cloud Storage will have by that time been increased greatly. To any whom object to what I say please feel free to speak, and PlayStation + kicks ass, I’ve saved a ton of money over the last year on PlayStation Home items and DLC/Games.
