How to Download PSP Titles to PS Vita

PSP Gaming on PS Vita

PS Vita will begin making its way into gamers’ hands in just a few short days! Day one Vita owners will have many, many games to choose from, with 25 titles announced for launch on February 22nd. Actually, make that 26 — Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus is now a confirmed launch title as well.

If you’re being thorough, however, that number is off by a bit… like by 90%. Hundreds of classic PSP titles and minis will also be available to play on PS Vita on day one via the PlayStation Store. Even better, if you’ve already downloaded a compatible PSP title, you can download it directly onto your PS Vita at no extra cost (please note that some limitations do apply).

There are a couple of ways to get these PSP games onto your PS Vita:

  • Purchase PSP games from PS Vita’s PlayStation Store and download via WiFi directly to your system. If you’ve already purchased a game via PSN from the list below, you can redownload it from the Download List.

  • If you’ve already got one of these games sitting on your PS3 XMB (or have purchased from the PS3’s PlayStation Store), you can connect your PS Vita to the PS3 via the included USB cable, and transfer the game via PS Vita’s on-board Content Manager.

Here are the first 275 PSP titles ready to be downloaded onto PS Vita. Don’t worry if you don’t see your favorite title here now; more PSP titles will be made available for PS Vita play in the coming weeks. We’ll keep this list current and let you know when updates are made.

  • I am using the Northamerican store and vita and these are the games that worked for me:

Little Big Planet PSP (even with add ons)
    Auditorium (PSP)
    Assassins Creed Bloodlines
Star Wars Clone Wars Republic Heroes
    LocoRoco Midnight Carnival
    Flying Hamster

  • Phantasy star portable 2 and Valkyria chronicles 2 works :)

  • Okay, I don’t know who’s doing that list. But they may as well add Fate/Unlimited Codes to it. It works on Vita.

  • I am new to the Playstation network, having just purchased a Vita on the US release day. I have a few questions regarding the specific desired goal of purchasing both Liberty City stories and Vice City stories.

    1. I have no PS3, and because these titles are not directly offered in the Vita store, I wondered if there is a way I can purchase these titles to download to a PC and transferred by the Content Manager to the Vita, as other content can be when you do not have an internet connection available to the Vita?

    2. As I mentioned I have no PS3, so if the answer to #1 above is a no, then my next question is if it is possible
to have a friend or family member, who DOES own a PS3 purchase those titles, not install them, but simply transfer via the content manager to my Vita? or does the PS3 system it is downloaded to have to be linked to the same Playstation network account as the Vita for this idea to work?

    3. Assuming both #1 and #2 are a no go.. is there ANY other method anyone can suggest for me to get those titles on my Vita?

    ThE JafF

  • @ThE_JafF23: Before anything you should confirm with someone else that those titles work on their American Vitas.

If they do, you can Activate (Add) your PSN Account in your friend’s ps3, purchase the games through the ps store, download them and then Activate your PSVita (just conect it to the ps3 via USB) and transfer the games to your Vita.

I have never used the ps store on a PC so I don’t know if that would be easier.

  • any word on when Patapon 3 is going to be on vita

  • @jncasanova thanks, thats a big help!

  • God Eater Burst?

  • @358: Gods Eater Burst is one of the “unofficial” compatible titles. You’ll need a PS3 to download the game to and then transfer it to your Vita via the content manager.

I understand that it can be difficult sometimes to work with and test software, but I really wish Sony would have put a little more effort into the at-launch compatibility or this particular endeavor. I love my Vita quite a lot, but I could love it so much more, if only more PSP titles and the PS1 Classics were available.

And guys at Sony, while I doubt you’re even paying attention to these comments anymore, Age of Zombies and A Space Shooter for Only $2 still don’t show up when I try to transfer them via content manager. A response would be appreciated, but I’d be more than ecstatic if the problem were just fixed.

  • Wow…wish they made at least all the games compatible before they released the vita.

  • Will God Eater Burst work if you transfer from PC?

  • So Far My Only Complaint about the Vita is there arent any RPGS that are out for the Vita and all my PSP RPG games that I have downloaded onto MY PS3 to play on my PSP will not work on my PSVita. Their are 2 games so far that i have been able to download and play they are LUNAR and Blade Dancer. I feel Like i spent $300 on a system that i cant even enjoy yet for gaming, I do however love the fact that i can watch NETFLIX on it. That is my one and only complaint. Sony Please Hurry and do an update so i can play all my final fantasy games and my Arc the Lad games on my vita, and PLEASE PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE add LEGEND OF DRAGOON, and LEGEND of LEGAIA as DLC games.

  • Just one more thing here are a some suggestions for games that should be released as DLC for the VITA

    Final Fantasy
    Final Fantasy II
    Final Fantasy III
Final Fantasy IV (i know its already there)
    Final Fantasy V
    Final Fantasy VI
    Final Fantasy VII
    Final Fantasy VIII
    Final Fantasy IX
    Final Fantasy X

    Dark Cloud
    Dark Cloud 2

    Star Ocean

    Breath of Fire
    Breath of Fire II

    Dot Hack all of them

    Kingdom Hearts
    Kingdom Hearts II

Arc the Lad Twighlight of the Spirits

I know its a long list but those are all of my favorite games and i know most of them are RPG or RPG basis but If there were released on the PSN i am sure that I am not the only RPG fan that would be practically orgasmic over it.

Thanks for listening to me and I hope that the Playstation GODS are listening and will grant this wish

  • I contacted Playstation’s customer support yesterday explaining what we are experiencing and received an answer today explaining how to download the PSP games to PS Vita again and saying the games on this list are compatible.

    That was insulting.

It seems they haven’t noticed their list is wrong.

  • What about Burnout:Legends!!!! and of course Locoroco! Come on dont dissapoint me, imagine the possibilities of Locoroco

  • “Dead Head Fred” works just fine (better even thanks to the new analog stick), but you just have to copy it over using a PS3 as the only hurdle.

  • why patapon 2 and not patapon 3?
and why all the metal slug games, when there’s metal slug anthonlogy (7 games in one)

  • @Fylian :

Are you a PS Plus subscriber and received Age of Zombies as a PS Plus free monthly Mini??

Has someone who purchased it been able to transfer it successfully??

The only Mini I didn’t get as a PS Plus subscriber is Flying Hamster and it’s the only one my Vita recognizes.

  • Is it just me or does it seem that any PSP games that were given free after the huge PSN break in fiasco are not compatible with Vita? I choose 2, Killzone Liberation and LBP, looking forward to my new Vita and they are both incompatible… not cool Sony.

  • Jeff, is the list being updated? It’s been well over three weeks already and I haven’t noticed any additions. How frequently should we expect to see updates, and how will users be informed that updates have been made?

  • Update. LBP works fine. Once on the Vita the online doesn’t work… until you update through the Vita. Everything works flawlessly. So why isn’t it on the official list? Trying Killzone now.

  • Killzone Liberation works. No update needed. Sony, update this list please. Those who would buy are hesitant because of fears of games not working.

  • Curious as to why only a handful of the Vita-compatible minis will actually let me download them via the PSN Transaction list? For example, games like Circles and Flying Hamster have “download” buttons next to them when browsing through my (very long) list of previous transactions. But Vempire and Cahoots say they cannot be downloaded to my PS Vita.

Hey Sony: one feature that would make life GREAT for your long-time fans who have MASSIVE transaction lists (like me) would be a filter-by option–date purchased, PSP game, PSN game, PSOne game, PS mini, demo, DLC, etc. You get the idea.

I have over 870 items on my Transaction List, and scrolling through it to download items one-at-a-time is tedious and, let’s face it, unacceptable at this day and age of technology. Especially when it auto-jumps back to the top of the list after I queue a download. :-/

  • FINAL FANTASY CRISIS CORE!!!!!!!!! PLZ PLZ PLZZZZZZZZ
and when the next list will come out?

  • wish i knew

  • These titles have all been added to the PSN Vita’s Store!

Not sure why the list hasnt been updated yett but these titles are now on there! :]

    James Cameron’s Avatar

    Crush

    Driver ’76

    Luxor

    Michael Jackson The Experience PSP

    Tomb Raider: Legend

  • any news on the availability of Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom ?

  • Where’s the updated list at?

  • Killzone Liberation & Pursuit Force works on my Vita…

  • TOMB RAIDER ANNIVERSARY can be played on the Vita as well as TOMB RAIDER LEGEND!!!!!!!! I added them from my PS3 and they work flawlessly!

  • Sony really needs to add more games to this list

  • Agreed, Sony needs to add to the list, if only to confirm for fans that they are indeed committed to supporting legacy PSP titles. An update that PSP compatibility is moving forward, as well as an update on PSone classics, seems due.

  • @mrk1976 :

If you have a ps3, for the moment you can play your PSOne games through remote play!!

  • I’m glad that we’re done with UMD’s… but i still feel we should be able to redeem a digital download for games we’ve bought on UMD. It’s wrong to only support a portion of the PSP community, especially since not all games were made available for digital download. Why couldn’t we just redeem a single digital download based on the serial numbers from our UMD games? It’d be a big undertaking but I think it’d be worth it. If I could play my UMD games on a vita I’d buy one right now, and i’m sure I’m not the only one who feels that way.

  • Just bought MIDWAY Arcade Treeasures extended play Please Sony Make it compatible with the PS vita :/

  • PLEASE SONY MAKE MIDWAY ARCADE TREASURES EXTENDED PLAY COMAPTIBLE WITH THE PLAYSTATION VITA I JUST BOUGHT IT 2 FIND OUT IT DOES NOT WORK :/

  • angry birds is one mini…

  • Castlevania:The Dracula X Chronicles works on my PS Vita…SONY UPDATE THE DAMN LIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My favorite part is how they said “more PSP titles will be made available for PS Vita play in the coming weeks” in BIG BOLD letters, and here we are a month later with no update.
