We are pleased to announce that one of the most highly anticipated titles for the PlayStation 3 home console and the PlayStation Move motion control peripheral, the fantasy spell-casting game Sorcery, will be available in stores in North America on Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012. The game is an action packed magical adventure where the PlayStation Move is your magic wand and only you, a sorcerer’s young apprentice, can harness the true power of magic to save this mystical realm from the darkness of the Nightmare Queen.

Ready to get started? here’s a quick summary of the story from Brian Upton, Creative Director on Sorcery.

Finn is in trouble. First, he accidentally blew up his master’s alchemy lab. Then he’s let Erline, his master’s magical cat, talk him into trespassing in the realm of the dead. Now he’s unleashed an ancient universe-destroying evil that won’t stop until everything he cares about is utterly annihilated. It has not been a good day.

Even though he’s only an apprentice, Finn must find a way to defeat the Nightmare Queen before she destroys the human world. To do this he must plunge deep into the realm of faerie — the Endless Stair, the Faerie Forest, the Slumbering Palace. With Erline travelling at his side he must master powerful and arcane magical spells, and use them to overcome the strange and twisted servants of Nightmare. He must solve challenging puzzles, and decipher the mysteries of alchemy. He must discover the secrets of the Nightmare Queen’s power and undo the damage that she has wrought.

And, above all, he must earn the right to be called … sorcerer.

  • Looks incredible…

  • Very cool, have been looking forward to this since the E3 announcement.

  • Finally this dated!!!

Hope to see some great marketing for it!

  • Awesome! Those characters and screenshots look great, and will tide me over until you show some videos of the game in action.

  • Wow this game is coming along really well. I have been looking forward to this game and was gonna ask when it comes out but it looks like it will be in May which is sweet and not to far away. Will there be a demo?
Jeff you have a interesting last name. giggle giggle

  • Any word on pricing? Game looks awesome though I have been waiting for this ever since it was announced…

  • hope its worth the wait :T

  • I bought the Move about a year ago for this game. Can’t wait to get my hands on this.

  • Bout time….gimmie my GD wand, I got firenados to make.

  • Time to dust off my Move controller. Really hope this is a good game.

  • Finally, looking forward to it!

  • The Move has had some solid titles, but nothing that really blew me away. I’m hoping this changes that.

  • I hope you plans to bundle this game with Playstation Move Navigator Controller and Playstation Move Controller itself for the best price! Please consider about doing that! Thank you for this game! :-D

  • Thank you guys for not giving up on this game.

  • I’m throwing money at the screen but nothing is happening!

  • Yesssssssssssssss! Me want now

  • This JUST may be the one game that gets me to purchase the PS Move, I know there’s Resistance 3 and Killzone 3 but I just prefer the Ol’Controller for shooters.

So I’ll just go ahead and do this now, As Fry would say…
“Shut up and take my money!”

  • Take my money.

  • About frackin’ time… Sony needs more PlayStation Move exclusive titles of this quality. I invested a lot of money into Move on day one and have not seen the support the device deserves. I don’t care about playing Killzone or SOCOM or Resistance with the Move, I prefer a DualShock for those games… but I also want some real games made for and designed around the Move. I do have to say that Move support for Bioshock looks cool. If there’s one shooter that could really be transformed with Move, it’s Bioshock. Anyway, more Move titles please.

  • It looks awesome! Will we get a new video soon?

  • finally! one of the main reasons i got my move. cant wait :)

  • Can you please confirm if the game is on rails or not?

  • I keep throwing my money at the computer screen but it won’t take it?

  • I am so excited to finally play this game, after seeing it for so long. It’ll be nice to finally have a game that responds so well to the PS Move.

  • I was thoroughly looking forward to this game until i heard that they had abandoned using the one to one move controls in favor of purely gesture based controls. So now I’m going to be waiting to see how it fairs in the wild before I decide whether or not to get it, I hope it turns out good, because I love the concept; but now I need some convincing.

  • i got ps move so sony this game will be money for you lol

    ps3=god

    xbox360=devil lol

  • *throws wallet at computer screen*

    TAKE MY MONEY NOW!!!

  • I had given up all hope of this, the reason I bought the Move in the first place. I am buying this no matter what. I hope there is a simultaneous digital version.

Thanks for the good news. After experiencing Journey last night, & my Vita for the last 2 weeks, I have to say this is an incredible time for the PS brand. Other gamers don’t know what they’re missing & I just feel sorry for them.

  • This game is magic! Releasing on my fathers Birthday! R.I.P. Dad! Will play it together!

  • Thanks very much Jefferson !

Been waiting for the game and it’s finally here.

Looks great and with the Move, should be even better !

  • Does it make use of the nav? I have yet to use the nav for anything, it tells me it feels really neglected.

Aside from that, game looks very cool, I hope there’s a demo.

  • Already pre-ordered! 8)

  • Awesome. This game is the reason I got the Move in the first place.

@27: They abandoned 1:1? Where did you read that? I won’t get the game if that’s true. Also, I really hope it’s 3D enabled. Can anyone confirm that?

  • YEEEESSSSSS!!!!! finally a release date….hopefully we can bank on this one

  • Ohhhhh yessssss babyyyyyyyy I’m going to pass out (so happy) great news :-

  • what a way to start off the year..I hope those wii game buyesr got pillows on their back because the whippin isa coming!!!

  • what time does sony GDC conference start ?

  • This game and Start the Party are the reasons I got a Move. Please give us Avatars based off the game~!!

  • I have been interested in this game for a long time so I know this is asking too early but how much memory will it take on my PS3 as I only have 58GB out 111GB left.

  • Finally, a good PS Move game after three not-so-good but not-so bad Move games (Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves, PlayStation Move Heroes, and EyePet) with LittleBigPlanet 2 (with Move Pack add-on), The Lord of the Rings Aragorn’s Quest, and Sports Champions being the only good ones. Will it support the Navigation controller for character movement, or is it going to be on rails like The Shoot?

  • So in stores on May 22nd. I suppose that means Blu-ray confirmed. Any confirmation on PSN release.

I’m just going to guess this will be $49.99 like the other move titles?

  • @43 (TwinDad)
Move titles are $39.99, not $49.99… and yes, Sorcery is $39.99.

    Dear Sony,
I want a Move game based on the TV show Top Shot with shooting challenges and different weapons including rifles, pistols and bow/arrows.
    Thanks

  • SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!!

  • pls bundle this with a ps move

  • Its about time. Im glad to see this game come out. Yes I’m getting it

  • FINALLY. I only pre-ordered this game in March 1, 2011. I don’t have the same level of hype that I originally had, but I will still pick it up.

  • This game better still be the game they first started talking about, 1:1 to motion control, and the control of spells and such. That was the game I wanted to play. But if they did get rid of the 1:1 controls in favor of gestures I will rent it, but probably not buy it. I want real motion control games with my move system. That’s the whole reason I bought it.
