PlayStation Store Update

Grace Chen's Avatar Posted by Sr. Director, PlayStation Store

Hi Everyone –

Spring Fever kicks off its second week with Rayman 3 HD! This cult classic comes with new features, upgrades and a high-definition makeover. It’s the third opus of the million-selling platforming series, created by visionary game designer Michel Ancel, the father of Beyond Good & Evil, Rayman Origins, and other award-winning video games. PlayStation Plus subscribers get this new release at 20% off!

You’ll also find this week’s Spring Fever franchise sale for the venerable Final Fantasy series this week! Many of the best Final Fantasy content across PS one Classics and PSP Games (including last year’s definitive Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection) are on sale for 30% off. PlayStation Plus subscribers get the edge with a 50% discount on these titles as well.

PSN is ready for massive battle this week as well with the releases of Warriors Orochi 3 and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. In PSN Game Warriors Orochi 3, explore the new bonds system, online play, and an intuitive battleground editing feature and tackle legions of armies with customizable characters. Warhammer 40K: Space Marine marks the PS3 Full Game debut which takes place in Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 universe and features the Ultramarines chapter. With an unprecedented blend of shooting and melee combat, Space Marine’s visceral combat will leave you breathless; as well as a trail of Orks behind you.

If that wasn’t enough, Sumioni: Demon Arts inks its way to PS Vita today. Sumioni: Demon Arts is an exclusive PS Vita action platformer that taps into PS Vita’s powerful touchscreen. Using your finger, you’ll be able to draw bridges to cross dangerous obstacles, summon thunderclouds or sacred lions to attack enemies, and much, much more.

Amazing DLC is hitting the PlayStation Store as well with new content in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Motorstorm RC and more; so make sure you check out all the details below. Just for the record, you can stop requesting SCEA / SNE to lower prices in the store. I am sure they want to but at the end of the day, the Publisher is setting the price of the content. Publishers can also put anything on sale at their convenience.

So, this week, I am thanking Square for the FF sales ;).

As for Sumioni: Demon Arts, like others, I am not paying $19.99 for a PSN game, let alone a VITA PSN game. Paying this amount sets a *very* dangerous precedent that other publishers will take notice and start the push for higher PSN prices… Just my opinion…

Since there was a Final Fantasy sale it would have been cool for Square to release Crisis Core, but i guess not. Still not bad. i plan on getting Final Fantasy 6, and Tactics (psp) from this deal. Aside from that though its a pretty dull update. nothing new for me, and really only the sales are good.

I see nothing for the Vita. i really hope this isnt a starting trend like with the Psp. first it had a great number of content per-update. then it just died. If there is a time when Vita games arent released wouldnt it be smart to release a psp game in that time? considering we still dont have some great games like Crisis Core, Kingdom Hearts, etc.

I just dont want to see the Vita end up like the Psp. while they are both great system their company doesnt seem to take it seriously.

wow. these plus updates are getting worse all the time. wheres the free games? who cares about demo’s or discounted add-ons. i subscribed to plus for free games.. and the last free game was some lousy street fighter turbo HD with NO TROPHIES. stop giving us lame games with no trophy support. or go back and add trophies to make them worth playing for at least that. the game sucks, and i’d play it at least sometimes if it had trophies to earn.. but this is a lousy plus update. guess i should’nt bother renewing my subscription for old as hell sega games, no-trophy games, and free dlc thats only useful if you buy the game for it. lets see some more freebies. it’s all digital content anyway, which means it’s 100% profit. so shell out some free stuff worth having for those of us who pay for plus. otherwise, i see no point in it.

@115 just buy a new ps3 then for the amount of what your going to pay for the game and packs might as well invest in getting another system from either a game store, walmart, target or buy one that works off of craigslist from someone. or you can look online for a shop that repairs them for the cost of just a game. most system repair shops only charge about $40-$60 for disc read error you numb skull

IRA_RIOS said:

March 20th, 7:19 pm

@drakenbutch Oh, that sucks if your ps3 cant read a disc. Maybe it’s time to buy a new one? I’ve bought 2 so far, and havent had any problems with either.

Why do some of my posts get moderated while poster 95 is able to post offensive slang words for male private parts and it gets posted instantly? Unreal. I don’t use offensive language here. Anyway, I can’t take anyone serious who uses that language partly because there are no Final Fantasy avatars. Get a grip, dude. That is the least important thing here. I dunno about you but I think the main purpose for this place are video games, not for pictures that show up next to your name on PSN. That’s why I have this lame Ape Escape avatar because it doesn’t matter at all.

I had been waiting to purchase them for a long time now. I never got around to buying a bigger memory stick for my PSP and I was planning on buying them for the Vita, but we still don’t know what PS One classics will work on it. But $6.99 for some games that I love and still own on disc, just couldn’t pass it up.

I’m backing up my files right now from my PSP to my PC so I can have some room and start playing them tonight ass I doze off.

Thanks for the sale!

@124,, calm dwn alittle bit.. I had my console brick on me ..ll i feel your pain.,, ok.. you say your mw3 copy is giving you disc read errors on the ps3.I suggest you not use it.. Theres a thing in xmb to file a error report and a sony helper wil llook into your ps3 with your permission..(this all free of charge).. they either fix online or tell you what wrong with it and every couple of days they will be checking on you in you xmb while you are online to see if it acting up

As for your 2nd question is mw3 going to be on psn.. I dont know that up to the publisher of that game. its not up to psn or its staff.. I would suggest filing a disc read error report in your xmb ..DOnt using that copy mw3 for the time being, you dnt want to brick your console, A faulty erroring game can do just that.

Hope this help :)

WOW!, finally, FFVIII! i have the original CDs for FF6 to 9, but the 8 first CD get stuck on the intro so i can never start a new game, finally, i can replay my favorite FF game, and if some how PSN can get Legend of Dragoon with discount too, i would be happy :P, BTW i agree with the annoying thing about Online Pass, Because, if I lend my game to my friend or even My niece, she cant enjoy it fully if she is not on my console, which is wrong, they trying to prevent the lending, which honestly is unfair, what if I decide to trade my game with a friends? it isnt fair for neither to have to pay 10$ extra for a game we trading between us, I own Battlefield Bad Co2, this very copy has seen over 6 owners, since it was bought new, traded or sold from friend to friend, and it got in my hands 5 months before BF3, what if we had to buy a Online pass every time, no one would want to trade it, no one would be able to enjoy such a great game fully. and to buy a online Pass sucks since the company at any time can close down the server, meaning if I trade a game with a friend, I buy the Online Pass, 2 months later, the server are shutdown, I WONT GET MY MONEY BACK!

That’s great that the FF games are 50% off, I think I will finally buy VII, VIII, and IX (I own them on PS One but I wanted a portable version).

I was hoping they would be released free on Plus, but I don’t know if that will happen considering I’ve been a Plus member since its inception — I did see one FF game for free though!

Now please allow PS One games to be played on the Vita, please.

Thanks : )

I don’t think Sony should feel obligated to answer to a spammer, especially one with as much ignorance and rudeness as you. Stop asking them to put up your mediocre game and learn to be patient. Sony doesn’t always have the answers, you know, but that isn’t because they are stupid, it’s because the developers have not decided to put it up yet and therefore, no answer is given. It is the developers’ choice on whether or not they put a certain game up and when. They might not even plan to put it up. Until they make an official announcement, you aren’t going to get that answer.

And unless it’s only for MW3, if you’re getting disc reading errors, then you’re PlayStation is broken and you need a new one.

Hey there! Love this update almost as much as the one that set (almost) all the PSP’s Ys titles to $15! But I’m having a slight problem that a few others may be getting as well:
I’m a Plus member, and as such I got FFV classic a while back for free to play as long as my subscription is valid. Due to this, I can’t make a true purchase on FFV. I wanna buy at this cut price for later when I may not have Plus anymore!
Assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Call me when an update is finally worth the time and energy it takes to read. I’m not counting on that being anytime soon.

I have purchased many PSP games via the PS store for the last few years now so I was delighted to hear that I could play my PSP games on the vita. To my disappointment all the games that I have purchased except for two are not working on the PS vita. Also Skype and the comic book viewer are not available. I have waited patiently for updates to see what would be made available next. I know it’s all about the vita games but some of us shelled out somewhere around $400-$450 to purchase this game system or traded in the PSP or both and have very little pocket money left for games. So my question is will there be more PSP games that can be played on the vita made available in the near future or is what is available now all we get? It would suck after purchasing those games that I would have to take a loss on my purchases. Also when is Skype going to be available? This was a very useful app to have on the PSP. I understand it was supposed to be available for the vita but I haven’t seen it and the last couple of updates were very sparse for this game system. I would appreciate a reply. Thank you very much for your attention.

Man, this is not only a good update, but actually has a ton of stuff I’ll be picking up.
Warriors Orochi 3, Sumioni, Amalur DLC, FF IV and IX… massive update this week. And the second to last episode of Tester 3. The trivia episodes are my favorites, so I’m really looking forward to this one.

PS: To those complaining about Sumioni being $20 on PSN, it was released on a physical game card in Japan, and you can always import that for over $60.
We get a digital-only version of a retail release, and you’re complaining that “OMG, it’s TWENTY DOLLARS! That’s too EXPENSIVE!”, when really it should be “OMG, it’s TWENTY DOLLARS! That’s so CHEAP!”.
Get off your entitlement horses and research before you complain about pricing.

@ Morgan

I was talking about Final Fantasy 1 & 2 for the PSP. Europe and Japan already have it so I don’t know what the problem is here on the US.

I bet if everybody started taking all the vitas back for a refund they would take notice and start doing what should have already been done.
