PlayStation Store Update

Hi Everyone –

Spring Fever kicks off its second week with Rayman 3 HD! This cult classic comes with new features, upgrades and a high-definition makeover. It’s the third opus of the million-selling platforming series, created by visionary game designer Michel Ancel, the father of Beyond Good & Evil, Rayman Origins, and other award-winning video games. PlayStation Plus subscribers get this new release at 20% off!

You’ll also find this week’s Spring Fever franchise sale for the venerable Final Fantasy series this week! Many of the best Final Fantasy content across PS one Classics and PSP Games (including last year’s definitive Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection) are on sale for 30% off. PlayStation Plus subscribers get the edge with a 50% discount on these titles as well.

PSN is ready for massive battle this week as well with the releases of Warriors Orochi 3 and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. • COME ON DOWN YOU ARE NEXT PLAYER TO PLAY “THE PICE IS RIGHT DECADES” ARRIVES 2012 YAY ME

  • I’ve got DISSIDIA, DISSIDIA 012, and FFIV: The Complete Collection on UMD, so I’m not willing to spend then bucks or more on them right now (especially since I don’t have a Vita). Maaaybe seven, but I’m thinking more like five. However, got FFT:TWOTL on download before the activations cut (though I still don’t know just how that’s supposed to work, since a device is either activated or not, so how is pre-cut content even distinguished?), even though I got it on UMD for the same price (plus tax). FFVII I picked up before even having my own PSP, I believe. While I’ve got FFVIII on disc, I may pick it up along with FFIX for convenience, though my PocketStation may weep (I’ll just have to get one of those memory card conversion cords). FFT, well, with the PSP version and component cables, I don’t have too much reason to go with the classic version. FFV I have from this month’s Plus freebies, and while Origins might be worth it for the old spell system, I’ve got FFVI ADVANCE, so I’ll pass, there, too.

GET FINAL FANTASY AND FINAL FANTASY II ANNIVERSARY EDITIONS ON THE PSN

Definitely picked up this other Journey theme. May just stick with the concept art one, though (or that great Leap Year theme).

  • Also, while the Vita needs to be brought up to speed, and the PS3’s still in its stride, when will little condolences be made for the PSP, such as game organization, or automatic clock-setting, like the PS3 recently got?

  • C’mon were is Valkyrie Profile

  • Finally some new Blues for Rocksmith! B.B. King, how nice! Keep coming, Blues, keep coming! :-)

  • Don’t you think people would be willing to buy some of those awesome character designs, even the vehicle designs of Twisted Metal? Please please please someone work on Twisted Metal avatars.

  • @3 (and I guess more importantly Morgan Haro), I would have also preferred that the PSP remakes for FF1 & 2 were added, instead of FF Origins. They have been on the European store for over a year now and (at least IMHO) are superior to versions of the games in Origins. Even though I already have the UMD’s, I would be willing to pony up the cash for the digital versions of those two to put on my Vita.

  • Anything on a release of sumioni in EU?

  • It really is too bad the FFIV collection is PSP and not PS3. I would have purchased that. Also interested in the Tactics title on the PSP. Don’t have a PSP though so it is unfortunate that I can’t play these on the PS3.

Kind of underwhelmed by Spring Fever. Hopefully other fans are getting the games they want though, despite popular opinion the world does not revolve around me. :)

  • Hmm, nothing for me this time, shame the PSP sale isn’t a patch on the Euro one.

Be nice to get PSOne compatibility on Vita at some stage.

  • To #147, we have every right to comment on the price of Sumioni and how we believe it is overpriced. If you are happy paying $20, great, congratulations. Japan market is very different, even for regular PSP games. Also, because perhaps you simply do not know how console retail works (and this explains the whole Ubisoft VITA game pricing), if the publisher (with Sony approval) wants to release something at retails via physical goods, they are limited as to the pricing of that unit. Ie. Console Manufacturer has set price points that the Publisher can release at. While I am not entirely sure if that helps reduce their licensing fee back to manufacturer, I imagine it would. So, since Japan is primarily a physical goods-based console territory (hence why they get the UMD Passport Program – retail goods bought in large numbers versus minimal PSN versions) and not into digital downloads like the America Region is, the publisher *needs* to be at retail via physical goods thus *has* to charge more for it. Doesn’t mean it is actually *worth* it. And using Import pricing is a false equivalent as well.

  • Great update!!! Been waiting on the FF stuff to go on sale for ages!

  • To #147 (cont’d)

So, it doesn’t matter what is costs in Japan, nor the import cost, it just comes down to whether or not the market deems it to be worth $20 bucks. Now, if it was worth more, then it could have easily been at retail for more. My guess is that at $20 PSN, the amount they make per copy is more than what is made via retail @ 29.99, so they opted for PSN. That still doesn’t mean it is worth either of those prices either. To me, it just doesn’t seem to be from what I have seen of it. Naturally, if there is a demo and I try it, I can then reform my opinion, re-decide for myself what it is worth.

I still stand by my comments about $19.99 being a dangerous precedent, especially if the game isn’t truly worthy of the price. As always, the market decides and the publishers follow. I can only decide for myself and so far, this is not a purchase for me. Whoever buys it, great, I hope you enjoy the game. I want to see VITA succeed but I won’t pay more for content, than I think it is worth, just to help VITA succeed. While VITA is a business for SCE, it also is one (in a sense) for me as well.

  • To #147 (end)

One last thing. From a publisher perspective, it is easier to correct a mistake in overpricing versus correcting (impossible for the most part) a mistake in underpricing. It is a tough balance for sure. So, if the market deems it overpriced, they can offer a discount to test a lower pricepoint and go from there towards a new, lower permanent price.

  • @133 then i suggest to stop playing mw3 on t your console if your having alot issues with it.. please scroll dwn to knowledge center onthsi same exact page. , find out what you can do, sometimes its not as serious as it seems .. ok

hang in there.. and just be little paitnent.Disc read error can be fixed with out repair sometimes,,

as far as would those game if you bout them over psn they should, but if a file is currupt or error reading on your console then could it hurt your console..

I suggest trying another game and see it they work or get disc read erros. if not, then you not play mw3 onthe console and reaport it to sony in the knowledge center thing.. if you having a problem then a thousand other games mightbe having the same problem.. So i suggest a doing a xmb error report and filing a complaint in knowledge center..

    mcbuttz78
    vp ps legionairre group

  • What’s up with 50% not really being 50%…? I only noticed one other dude mentioning it and would be buying it all now if it was giving me the real discount.

  • 30% for regular PSN customers, 50% for PS Plus customers.. Seemed to work for me…

  • @165, 50%+ discount worked for me, too.

  • my ps3 some of my game it make a ejecting sound some of my game will work some not play and ps3 not read disc and i found a webpage of people saying there having same problem and all happen after we play mw3 im not only one having ps3 problem and ty mcbuttz78 u first one try help me and i ask for help on youutbe and couple other webpag people go live playing video game so far no one help me and ik if they do put mw3 in psn store ik it will play normal maybe some day they put it in psn store and i did try to play mw3 in my friend ps3 it keep freezing in a game loby and my friend ps3 is new

  • Birds Of Steel Demo is what I want. And please put Mass Effect avatars on the store.

  • march is always so slow. these games are good but I’m not interested…

  • Really, Rayman 3. when will Monster Hunter Portable 3rd remastered in HD come to us. I dont care about all these old games that you want to remaster i dint paly it when it first came out I’m not paying to play it now especially when they have a brand new game Raymans origins. I need what you deny me.Its been since June 2009 the last time you gave us a Monster Hunter Game ,Japan has had 2 new games since then. I think we’ve waited long enough.I’m sick of your company playing favorites with Japan and leave us in the dark.thats why i sold all my PS3 games and bought them back on XBOX 360.You’ve already screwed me out of $20 for a re-download of Monster Hunter Unite on Vita when i can buy it brand new UMD for $12 or less anywhere else.

  • I’ve now waited 24 hours since getting that nonsensical “funds could not be added to wallet” error, and I got it again. Still can’t spend my money on your games, Sony. Nothing has changed on my credit card info since the last time I was able to buy something on the PS Store with it. Making people “wait and try again” or “just buy a PSN card” is not customer service. Fix your broken store.

I’ll try to spend my money again tomorrow, I guess. If you don’t fix this by tomorrow night I’ll just get these games on Xbox.

  • @168 sound kike that copy you have is badd, sell it game stop for credit if want to . also you can gt your ps3 fixed,
I wish you the best of luck,

@171 why not just buy a psn card,, those will alwys go,, :),, You can find them at 7-11 or wal mart, best buys target, etc

  • @168Not to rant dwn or nothing although like mw3 .. i dont like the publisher activision they dnt fix their games right.. So i really dont care for them, I dnt buy cod franchise becuase they are greedy and ficx the ps brand cod games they bring out..

  • draken butch sounds like your blu-ray drive is bad.

  • i was thinking that was problem i cant even play some blu ray dvd movie it give some error and i not found any cheap blu ray drive on amazon yet and i guess i can buy game from psn store there alot of game on psn store that i like

  • Guys, is there any way we could get Final Fantasy IV in PSOne classics? Is that even possible?
Seems a bit of a shame leaving it behind on the Chronicles greatest hits discs when Chrono Trigger made it to the store :*(

  • Ummm Yay. . . O.o

  • @175
your PS3 is probably dead buy a new one

  • Why is Dissidia 012 not on sale?

I was going to pick that one and FFIV up for my Vita but I guess I’ll just do IV and Origins.

  • When will we be able to use these PS1 classics on our Vitas? I would love to buy these FF games again but as my PS3 went YLOD I have no way of playing them! Now if a Vita update were to come thru soon with PS classics capability riding along with it…..

  • @169 yeah I have PS plus and it’s saying 6.99 goes to 4.89. Maybe it’s because I’m in Canada…? At least it worked for you guys.

  • People, chill out about the lack of free PS+ games this time. We get quite a few already. And as already pointed out, Sony can’t always set the price, it’s often up to the game distributor.

And sometimes I like the discount over the free. If I’m a bit iffy on a game or want to try it out ( more than the 60min trial, ) the free option is great. But on stuff I know and love, I sometimes prefer the 50% discount since that means I own it out right and it’s not tied to an active PS+ subscription.

And Harmonix, about bloody time you got some current Santana. Black Magic Woman is great and all, but his recent collaborations are incredible.

  • @TheKingOfSmooth It has already been explained in previous pages here. How did you miss it? It’s not 50% off of 6.99 because 6.99 is the 30% off price for the people not subbed to Plus.

To quote Morgan since you are for some reason unable to read the first page comments, “They are accurate on the Store. We adjusted the ‘normal price’ on the Store to be 30% off the old price. Then we apply the Plus discount on there as well. For example; FFIX is $6.99 now (which is 30% off the regular price of $10), and has a Plus discount to make it $4.89 (which is a bit more than 50% off of the regular $10). Make sense?”

    Reading is hard I know.

  • @182 Duodecim was on sale in the Best of the Year awards.

  • Are they releasing final fantasy 10 anytime soon on playstation network. And will you be able to play it both on ps3 and psp. Also my old disc of final fantasy 12 is not compatible wit my ps3, will you be releasing that as well. I really enjoyed the bounty hunter side adventure of ff12.

  • @ kalel1927

Final Fantasy 10 will be released on PSN for PS3 and Vita, not psp. And most likely not till the end of this year or early next year. Still no official release date, but that is the general consensus.

  • you know i’ve been wondering for awhile why they havent added new PS2 Classics to the PSN heck there even one of the Classics they added that been removed recently I’m just asking cause i really want to see some of my fav. RPG games up there like Dot Hack and Dot Hack G.U. series along with FF10 , Devil May Cry and even Tales of The Abyss. So why isn’t it getting more updates considering the demand of the cosumer (a.k.a. the PSN member) want the PS2 Classics to grown?

  • Ok I am posting cause i put PSN member instead of PSN members my bad ^_^

  • Already have Final Fantasy IV Complete and FFV, just snagged VI, VII, VIII and IX with hopes of a marathon run on my Vita when it’s able to. Top this off with the future release of X HD and that’s gonna take care of my RPG fix for a long time :)

    Thanks Sony!!!

BTW: Love my Vita, just got my platinum on Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Rayman Origins is my next target.

  • I have PS Plus, but the games are showing as 30% off not 50% off for me…

  • Now that Sly 1 was released for free, can we expect 2 and 3 to be free/discounted before Sly 4 comes out?

  • hay now what abou Final Fantasy Dissidia: 012 Duodecim why is that not on the list the first Dissidia is on there but not the second?

  • Any chance the PS+ pricing for the FF titles can be fixed? I want to buy the ones I don’t have on PSN; however, I refuse to do so until I receive the correct 50% discount instead of the 30% for standard users.

  • Nevermind, I see Morgan’s reply now that explains how it works.

  • How about fixing the system so I can add funds to my wallet so I can play some of these great games!? This is getting frustrating…..
