The PlayStation Recap — Spring Fever Edition

Sid Shuman's Avatar Posted by

Director, SIEA Social Media

Just four days into the start of spring and my allergies are already in full bloom! With my nose dripping like a leaky faucet and my throat feeling like extra-coarse sandpaper, I plan to keep a low profile this weekend and catch up on my backlog.

Gaming news was light this week, headlined by first official news of LittleBigPlanet Karting and other top stories you can find below. And we saw smattering of other big news with the announcement of Epic Mickey 2, a new trivia-themed episode of The Tester 3, and a new enemy for the BioShock Infinite menagerie.

What are you playing this weekend?

Starhawk is so much fun and I can’t wait for it to come out! Also Kara was jaw dropping and gives me hope for what future games will be able to do.

I am watching: Fringe, and a couple other shows

Hey Sid, any news about the Doctor Who game? It is suposed to release in March, so is it coming this Tuesday?

What is up with the offical PS3 7.1 Headset? At first some games I played were fine. But since I started to play more games I noticed a big problem. Volume is horriable, ringing or a buzz in my ear(prob from the disc spinning). I see people post concerns over this issue for a long time.

Is there a Fix coming? Or is Sony just given up and stopped supporting it? It has been a couple months now on not even a mention about it.

Same goes for the Vita and PS-One support. Love my Vita but why do we have to wait so long for something that should be very simple to add it?

Same goes for the PS3 remote play, Sony has already showed of Killzone, and those hackers have done it too. I know it is not a Vita issue, more of a PS3 issue.

The headset issue is known but no details to share yet; PSone support is coming to PS Vita, but no timeframe to share yet. As for Remote Play, it’s something we’ve asked about internally to get an update. As soon as we do, we’ll tell you what we learned!

So I was on Steam today and saw this game Vessel. Did some looking and apparently it is supposedly on PSN. I did a search with that fun filled utility on the store and came up empty… do we have a release date on that? Is it still coming to PSN?

I heard sony is going to release a new firmware update for ps vita system sometimes on april. Hopefully, whenever the new update should be able have the ability to have A-B repeat thing for music player on the vita, plus more PSP titles being able to be transferrable from the PS3 system including those 5 psp games such as fat princess: fistful of cake, lemmings, metal gear solid portable ops, portable ops+ and papaton 3 and any other features to be added for the vita system as well would be much totally appreciated. Someday sony probably will release the digital comic reader app for the vita so anybody would be able to read comic books on their vita instead of using psp system.

This was a very good week, in my opinion. LittleBigPlanet looks like a must buy for my family; Dust 514 in PlayStation Home? I’m there! And wrapping it up was Kara for me–the best job of emotion I’ve seen rendered probably ever. Did anyone notice her eyes? I looked and realized that they were realistically quivering. Hats of to you, Quantic Dream!

I hope you meant watching The Hunger Games at the movie theaters, right? Because I don’t recall seeing it in the PSN store unless you guys downloaded it illegally or there is an earlier remake of it.

Hey sid have you beat mass effect 3 yet? Whats your opinion on the ending? I thought it was alright, it just felt rush with the plot holes. Personally I hope the theory people made up is right because I want to explore the universe and see the outcome of my actions.

I did finish ME3 and I liked the ending, quite a bit actually. It’s hard to directly compare because of (SPOILER) the choices you make at the end. My choice (middle) was actually quite cool. I don’t fully understand the outrage, but I get that not everyone is satisfied.

Sid, can we get even a vague ETA on the next Vita FW update? Its been over a month and Near STILL isn’t working; affecting thousands of users with the “error occurred” message. And yes, I even registered with Skynet and it still won’t work. Its a terrible inconvenience to completely restore your Vita every time you want Near to work for 2 days before becoming broken again.

Re: Mass Effect Ending (spoiler inside)

The only people who think that Bioware writing is spectacular are people who don’t delve into other mediums – reading, theatre, well scripted movies. Bioware’s writing appears to be incredible, only because it IS when compared to the sea of mediocrity and tween demographic scripts that surround it in the gaming industry.

So its no surprise that they totally jumped the shark with the 11th hour !!!SPOILER!!! God Child. Don’t worry, I’m sure that the DLC will let you have a more “meaningful” resolution. Gear, people shouldn’t have to fabricate absurd ideas (community perception on what the ending “should” mean) to justify Bioware’s incoherent ending.

Now that Sly 1 has been released for free, can we expect 2 and 3 to be discounted or released for free before Thieves in Time comes out? I really don’t want to buy them and have them be put out for free a week later…

I am watching Scream 4, and finished Scream 3 last night. Liked 4 more than 3.
I am reading: this blog at this moment.
I am listening to August Burns Red.

On a side note, my PS3(40GB) had since 08 kicked the bucket with the red light of death. Hopefully I’ll get a 320GB Uncharted 3 bundle since I wanted a Slim for some time and knew the fat models wouldnt last long.

Where is Skype for Vita? It was suppose to be a launch App, yet it didn’t release and on top of that, no one will give any form or detail, saying it got delayed for fixing or something. Netflix was the maybe first day and it made it. So what is really going on.
Next, How is there still no release date on LittleBIGPlanet Vita when you buy a Vita it says April 2012 is the release, seeing that, that obviously means April isn’t going to have anything to do with LBP.
Next, why in the world did sony make Vita Disconnect from the internet when you put it to sleep manually, but not when it falls asleep on it’s own? Can there please be a option to leave it online and also a automatic login when system boots up, I hate that I have to click on something that will need PSN to go online.
On top of that, SOON… what does that mean? It seems like you guys take soon with no timeframe. You can atleast be honest and say PSOne won’t be here till atleast May or later, cause I doubt we’ll get till all PSP games are supported and you have people like me anxious, and frustrated

WHEN WILL THE VITA REMOTE PLAY FEATURE BE IMPROVED?!?!?!?!?! I know about ten people who would splurge on a new VITA if only they could remotely play their games off the PS3. We are of the married men clan and would love nothing more than to play remotely some KZ3 or Batman A.A while the wives are watching their DANCING with the STARS episodes. Other than that… THE VITA IS AMAZING. So when can we expect some improvements in this area of the VITA?
