The Drop: Week of April 2nd 2012 New Releases

While taping episode 018 of PlayStation Blogcast, I learned that the Devil May Cry HD Collection was confirmed for release this week. Luckily for you Blogcast listeners, Nick edited out the full minute of joyful squealing that ensued — we need those ears for future episodes! So yes, I’ll be happy to see Devil May Cry: HD Collection come to PS3 this week on a single Blu-ray Disc.

On PSN, the vast and toxic environments of a post-apocalyptic Earth are your primary adversary as you fight to survive in I Am Alive. You’ll also get a front-row ticket to PSN multiplayer car combat with Wheels of Destruction: World Tour. Enjoy this week’s The Drop.

PlayStation 3

Devil May Cry: HD Collection — This action-packed set chronicles the complete adventures of Dante, the world’s toughest demon slayer, with Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, and Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening Special Edition.

PlayStation Network

I Am Alive — In I Am Alive, players will be challenged by both their environment and their enemies. Stamina and resource management are key when being exposed to deadly atmospheres and scaling enormous buildings in search of supplies. The unique combat system requires players to utilize intimidation: cowards are easily swayed with an empty gun, while other enemies will put players to the test.

The Price Is Right: Decades — The Price Is Right Decades retains all of the treasured game play elements found in previous The Price Is Right games, including classics such as ‘Plinko,’ ‘The Big Wheel’ and the popular ‘Showcases,’ but also features never-seen before pricing games!

Wheels of Destruction: World Tour — In a lawless, post-apocalyptic world, Wheels of Destruction: World Tour is a demolish-or-be-demolished competition of extreme four-wheel wreckage. Players are pit against each other online in an arena of vehicular carnage in Capture the Flag and Deathmatch. Five distinct car classes make for deadly cutthroat car combat with a unique futuristic aesthetic – all powered by the Unreal Engine.

  • when are new boards for MW3 coming for non elite members? anyone?

  • so um are we even getting the update for the store today also why won’t you guys let me give you money cc is fine but i keep getting error code 80023102 i guess you guys don’t wanna get paid?

  • Hey Rey, you might want to let Sid know that the ban-hammer apparently didn’t hit lawsuit boy hard enough. He’ll know exactly who this joker is…

  • First: Why all the complaints about not having PS1, PS2, or PSP games available for the PS3 or PS Vita? If you wanted to play the old games, why have a new system? Surely you didn’t buy the new systems just to play old crap. Companies seem to focus on silly remakes and ports rather than great original games! I wonder why?

Second: Yes, the Vita dosn’t really have a great line-up right now, but Netflix has been a life saver. Plus, I have a pile of games for the PS3 that I don’t have enough time to play. I’m content to wait. For now.

Third: Where is my remote play? I purchased the Vita with the understanding that Remote Play would be supported and include all PSN and Disc based games. I did extensive research. Then I hear that the support is not in place yet. It’s coming, but no word as to when, and there is no intention to support most PSN or Disc based games. So it’s the PSP all over again. Sure, some PS1 and crappy PSN games are supported, but see my first point.

  • when exactly is I’am Alive supposed to be coming to psn, I’ve been reading April 3rd, 4th but still hasn’t been no exact date that I can tell, and psn says coming this spring or coming in April which isn’t very specific, anyone care to help???

  • Need a Vita

  • I think all the complaints are because they said it was going to happen. If they had said nothing than no one would have a right to complain.Which means they have the right too.

  • Since you don’t know, I’ll tell you. You need to make more Vita games. You guys were like car salesmen when you said there will be the same amount of releases on Vita as PS3. Congratulations on alienating your customers. Did you guys get a KMA chip or something?

  • @153 and the like.
I didn’t know you guys were so consumed on other people’s opinions. I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m glad I’ve got these dads on this blog. I will try to post more so that you may criticize and teach me the right way to post messages. Thank you.

  • I wish you guys would bring Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2 to the PS3. Those were excellent games, and really would like to play on the PS3. Could you in the future see about putting them on the PSN? Free or pay for, I’ll get them either way.

  • @herbalsticky

Did you buy all the Vita games?

  • @164

Remote play for ALL PS3 games was a rumor. Eurogamer broke the news but never included a source and Sony declined to comment. There has been no official statement at all which hints at FULL remote play compatibility. It will most likely be certain select games again like the psp days.

  • Takes time to make games people. The fact the PS3 has been out for years and only got one retail release this week is evidence that there will never be tons of games releasing every week. That’s not how the world works.

  • @168: You realize that none of these games are first party right? So… zero vs zero. Looks like the same amount to me.

And even if there was a first party title for PS3, that doesn’t mean there’s not some for the PSVita either. They don’t have to time them on the same day just to make you feel better. Get over it.

  • io voglio need for speed carbon su playstation network perpiacere!!

  • WE NEED MORE GAMES!! PSONE & PSTWO!!!! PLEASE!!!!

  • I hate when it are new good relases and I got no money to buy it

  • ps2 classics missing: metal arms, bloodrayne 2, the suffering and max payne 1.

psone classics missing: rugrats search for reptar, rugrats studio tour, parappa rappa, crash bash, and primal rage.

  • geomaggs please those classic games r the best go stay with ur modern warfare

  • why don’t you guys push for developers to release the digital version alongside the retail version?? I bought a larger HDD for that very reason, oh and work out the prices, paying $60 for digital when retail is the same is just ridiculous and somewhat exploitative.

  • Going to have to get that Devil May Cry collection. Looks awesome and I would love to see those games in HD. :)
