Update 4/3/2012: We identified a symptom that users can not play adhoc play in PSP titles if they download the system software, so we have taken down the system software temporarily. The system software will be available to download again soon.
Hi, everyone. The next PS Vita System Software Update (v1.65) will be released soon and will include the following minor enhancements:
- A “Notification Alert” option will be added to Settings, so you can toggle alerts on or off
- “After 10 minutes” will be added to the time options under Power Save Settings
- An Arrow icon will now appear when PS Vita finds new activities in the LiveArea
- Caps Lock will be supported in the On Screen Keyboard
Don’t forget: there are several ways to update the firmware on your PS Vita:
- Select “System Update” under the “Settings” menu and download the firmware directly to your PS Vita over Wi-Fi.
- Connect your PS Vita to a PS3 or a PC/Mac and update via Content Manager.
i was playing zenonia and the game got stock then i receive this screen an error has occured. (C1-2858-3) . how can i recommend a product to my friends and family , if this is full of bugs. im on 1.66 firmware

Where did I tell them how to use them? I asked why. Skype is the only feature that isn’t on it yet. Remote Play is already there. A few handfull of games already support it. Anarchy: Rush Hour is one of them. Wanna know how it looks/plays? It looks just a little bit better than a NFS on the PS1. Remote Play shouldn’t have even been a feature, especially since you can’t go that far away from the PS3 to do it. Imagine the kind of lag you would see in bigger games like Battlefield, Skyrim, Uncharted, or even the HD Remasters. It doesn’t do the OLED screen justice. Wanna play remotely, nothing is stopping you.
Again, the only thing advertised that isn’t there yet is Skype. Remote play is there, as are PSP games, but PS1 games were never advertised, just told to be later patch. Why are they still complaining??? They will announce it when they make it compatible. Don’t act like you were the only one to drop alot of money for the Vita. More than half the people here didn’t even want it for it’s most important feature: TO PLAY VITA GAMES. Yay for going backwards instead of going forwards.

I bought my Vita specifically to play NEW games and to game on the go. Everyone asking about PS1 games are just going to make the Vita go backwards in terms of NEW content. I settled for exactly what I got: A NEW gaming device with NEW games. I don’t buy new hardware to have old software. They like buying a new PC and having Windows 98 on it.
It would be great if PS3’s profile displayed stats for Vita games too such as:
– Trophies total (both systems together)(as it is actually displayed)
-On second page: Detailed stats (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum) in 3 columns, one for PS3, another for Vita and the last for the total of both
dilbig5 what you say is wrong.In the last month before launch they killed a lot of the features.If you look at reviews back a year or so,up to that they even had pics of the vita in reviews with the apts on it.And said in reviews it would have them.It was going to make the psp no longer needed.I read all the reviews I could get my hands on about it.Had the money to get one until these features went away in a months time.
And by the way this is like buying that new pc and finding out 90 percent of the programs you have don’t work on it.Then to us them you have to use the old pc anyway.
Please make the auto-dim after one minute of inactivity optional,as it is very annoying and has crapped all over my enjoyment of the Vita so far.

Every update that doesn’t add anything remotely like what was promised gets me a bit worried. PS3 remote play is nearly non-existent. loosing PSP titles instead of gaining them seems very bad. Just some info would be nice.

Oh and FYI… Check out the hacked PS3 and PS Vita videos on Youtube with a guy playing Battlefield 3 and Red Dead Redemption via Remote Play on the PS Vita and the games play flawlessly.
I suggest you do a little more research before you go around calling people stupid and saying thing you obviously know nothing about. The point is still that Sony marketed the remote play functionality with the KZ3 video, something a PSP could never do.

The PS3 was hacked, the Vita wasn’t. They can’t go online with it and it’s only gonna make Sony crack down more on it. And you do realize that his Vita was literally less than 6 inches away from his PS3.
I know nothing about it? I just told you that I used remote play already. It looks like crap, laggy, and kicked middle of a lobby that I was actually surprised to find. They showed that remote play was possible with a Killzone tech demo. It’s all up to the developer to impliment it. Using the same hacked PS3, you could play the games on a PSP, look it up.

another problem the ps vita has now ,games are so slow to get dated and release to usa plus the games are too short, example Uncharted too short , now too wait for Gravity Daze/Rush until july , wait persona 4 get too us.

I understand that the wants of many vastly outweigh the wants of a minority but by the comments of the majority of the people on here, it appears that they want Sony to continue moving backwards instead of forwards. I know I’m not the center and I’m glad I’m not but this is kinda ridiculous. The majority of people on here apparently didn’t even buy the Vita for the Vita, they bought it for stuff they were already playing. Instead of focusing on new content, people want old content. The Vita is supposed to be a new age for dedicated gaming handhelds but people just want to use it as a PSP (something they already had). PS1 games can already be played on a multitude of platforms: PS, PS2, PS3, PSP, and PC’s (even the Xperia Play) and that’s not even mentioning all the people that have modified systems (which some on here have pointed out they do). Leave the new technology to do new things.
You already said Sony took out alot of features but never said what, I looked it up and no sites have anything regarding missing features except for big time remote play and Skype. If anything, they didn’t need alot of the apps that are on there, like facebook or foursquare. But people like apps, even if they work better on the browser.
And there you go again. @dilbig5 How in the hell is adding ps1 classics, more psp games, and remote play moving backwards? Because they are old games? It would be moving backwards if they were taking away Vita game support in favor of these, but obviously that isn’t the case. It’s something that gives you more options. It makes the Vita an all around gaming device it blurs the lines between the many Sony gaming devices and that was kind of part of the goal with the Playstation brand. That goal is a long way off as the Vita feels so fragmented from the rest of the brand.
Not sure why I even bother wasting my time trying to explain this though. You probably won’t understand what I’m telling you and continue to bash people for wanting more choices. Choices that were promised and you can say only Skype was planned all you want, but it isn’t the truth and the majority knows it.
And there needs to be an update that gets rid of the auto-dimming after one minute.
Why can we still not download some of the mini’s that are on the list of playable games for the vita?
Has anyone in NA ever even gotten a PS+ mini to transfer to their vita? It sounds to me like people in Europe could get their minis onto their vitas, but got an error code when they tried to play them, and update 1.66 fixed it for them. But I have never even gotten a free mini onto my vita at all. So the problem isn’t fixed in NA at all right? Anyone?
can someone tell me will we be able to play all ps3 games on the ps vita any time soon like bf3 or mw3 or is only going to be a few games like i thought the hole point was that you could play your ps3 games on the go or did ye just lie to us to sell it i hope this is not the case so please sort this out thanks.

Is auto dimming really a problem? Can’t just tap the screen or press a button?

auto dimming is not a problem its to save a little bit of your battery. all you have to do is tap the screen and its bright again. not a problem. them problem is the waiting game for the features that should of been on the vita before releasing so sony wouldn’t have all of us on here complaining. any other bugs should be fixed with next update when they add more features. sony told me that another update is coming soon and skype should be on there as well.
My problem is that the screen dims after one minute.Some cinematics in games are more than a minute.Some strategy games take more than a minute to play out enemy movements.I don’t think it’s irrational to request that we be allowed to at least set the time limit for the auto-dim,like the auto-off function.
Actually the auto-dimming should be linked to the auto-off,so say if you have the system set to turn off after 10 minutes,then the screen dims after 5 minutes.
Really i just hate that the screen dims while a game is being played,it should disable when an application is running.
Helllo Sony I would like expres what has me concerened and my other five close friends, and almost all of my playstation network friends own a Vita we are a little angry with you by the way you are working with the Vita, is too slow we still cant download from our Vitas playstation one games(any) and psp, only some, another thing that hanst been released yet are the aplications Skype, whats happening that skype isnt avaible to be downloaded yet, I hope that for this week is avaible and I would like to know why the other new aplications havent been anounced. Please speak with the Mozilla Firefox company so they develop a better browser for the Vita, or if not a Google Chrome, what we couldnt believe and astonished us was that the Vita doesnt have adobe flash player, and in internet you cant do almost anything without adobe flash player, we cant see videos from websites please in the next update add Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.63, belive me you will make me feel glad and all my friends.

It turns out, a lot of us want to play our PS1 titles on our Vitas. I purchased Final Fantasy VI solely for this purpose. I was hoping we’d see an update so I could play through FFVI while waiting for LBP Vita.
Since the update I have been having problems. The mobile network settings screen is completely blank and no amount of resetting will bring it back. Also it will not shut down properly. The blue light stays on and I have to do a hard reset to get it to turn back on.
Hey, I bought my vita on the premise that I would be able to play Final Fantasy V – X and especially VII and VIII…. I can play neither. I don’t have a PS3 so I can’t play it that way yet. I also bought a psp and Crisis Core and someone stole it and probably sold it off for extra cash so if they add Crisis core, that would be great. MDK and MDK2 would also be nice to play on the vita….. when can we?!?!?

I got to say so far i am very disappointed in the ps vita i bought it mainly to play ps one classics on it. come to find out it wont be out til God knows when get with it playstation you have a lot of people waiting. If now your going to loose a lot of potential customers and current ones.
Well sadly Im starting to think I should of waited for the Vita to “mature”,maybe I expected too much of it.
Honestly if it wasnt for Uncharted,Disgaea 3 and (my most anticipated Vita game) MK,and Ill also include the MGS collection that comes out in winter,I would be so EXTREMELY disappointed in this launch I might of considered getting rid of it for abunch more PS3 games.
But Im a Sony guy and have hope,and I believe this system can be top notch if given the opportunity.
