It’s been almost three months since we launched PS Vita here in the U.S. and we’re continuing to find ways to add to your portable entertainment experience. With the recent launch of non-gaming apps such as Skype and Paint Park, and upcoming apps such as Treasure Park and Wake Up Club, all available for free, the PS Vita is an ever-evolving platform that keeps you connected to the content and experiences that are most important to all of you gamers.

What PSP games are you most excited to play on PS Vita?

  • Mcbuttz, if you hear of any bundle deal that ships a PS3 for free with a ps vita, please drop a comment because there’s no frickin way that any gamer would buy a ps vita at all, if Sony actually said this on the Ps Vita packaging,
Over-expensive proprietary memory card is required.
    Expensive PS3-which-does-much-more is required.
In total, I’d have to spend about £500 to £600 without including any games!

  • Forget it mcbuttz, you and the rest of the sdf are just grasping at straws. The only thing the vita is on track for is an early grave at this rate. The psp, a much, much weaker device with a paltry 32mb of system ram has no problem playing psp games, psp minins and psone games.

We already have seen flawless emulation of various psp and minis, including some heavyweights like MGS:Peace Walker and GOW. These are technically advanced psp titles and if the emulator wasn’t up to snuff, it’d show up here. Sorry, those games play great. Why some games are on the store and some aren’t is the big unanswered mystery and until sony clears up the confusion, the psvita is going to tread water.

Psone games should be a snap. C’mon, the original psone only had one meg of vram and 2megs of system ram. Our engineers are working hard on making it work on a system with 128meg of vram and 512megs of system ram. Maybe its time to hire some new engineers. This is becoming a fiasco. The psone was a system where programmers didn’t hard code like the ps2.

No more excuses, no more pr bs, no more coming soon, no more we’re working on it, wink, wink. Deliver or pack it in.

  • @all the clowns pointing out people that are rightfully concerned about certain games not being supported.

    Listen, clowns

I, like many others, went out and got this nice piece of kit when it got released. We bought it believing it a replacement for our PSPs. NOW…when I can play games on my PSP but not my VITA that really is a sh***y thing from many different perspectives, but mainly, from the customer perspective. I’m a loyal Sony fan, but you sure better get ready when certain promises aren’t being met, that I’m going to complain.

Having said that, thanks for the updated game list, its a nice start. I would love to see Where is my Heart being available soon, as well as the advertised PSOne classic compatibility.

    Cheers.

  • I am surprised there is still no valkyria chronicles 2 and resistance retribution.

  • `@195 you dnt really need to own a ps3 to enjoy every thing the psvita can do.. if you want a more diverese multi media experience yes. but alot ps3, psp and classic game are on ps vita. all you need is psn account..

I own 7 games so far for psvita it has near 100 you cn dlor own in 3 months , and more coming.. So dont feel like you have nothing to play, becuase thast not true, theres alot to play.I know becuase i shoulod hve more game lol.. Dont let the xbox troll here get you down beucase they dnt have crap to play and are jealous

  • The lack of North American backwards compatibility for Resistance Retribution on Vita is just getting pathetic now. Really, Sony, what’s the problem here? Apparently our European friends can play the game on THEIR Vitas, but it’s just too damn hard for Sony to make BC here. I know that Sony’s busy ensuring that the Vita has N64 levels of software support right now, but you guys APPARENTLY know that you’re launching a new Resistance game in a few weeks. I’m really looking forward to it, but when I got my Vita I was really looking forward to finally finishing Retribution with the benefit of a second analog stick. But apparently the logic of having a major 1st party Sony game like that compatible on Vita is apparently beyond Sony North America. It’s especially frustrating to not even see the game on the list of upcoming Vita-compatible PSP software, considering it’st he only PSP game I have left that isn’t compatible with Vita through transfer or direct download.

Seriously, Sony, what the hell? You’d think you’d AT LEAST ensure your own 1st party games were compatible with the Vita by now.

  • I’m waiting for Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3, please.

  • I am most waiting for:

Valkyria Chronicles II which I bought on the PSP… don’t see it on that list
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII… don’t see it on that list
Kingdom Hearts… don’t see it on that list
PSone Classics… don’t see them on that list

These are the games I either own and am waiting for compatibility so I can download them on the Vita or games I actually want.

    The following are welcome additions:
    Strikers 1945 Plus
    Gods Eater Burst

  • @196 im being a smart alic but if you go to some Psn meet up and greetings gaming events or big gmaing events in general they give ps vitas away all the time.. Trust me, You dnt alwys have there 1st get one either..Sometimes you jst have be there,

i got a 32 gb card with mine (no game though)most come with a 16 gb card or a 8. I had bought the deal where i get data pkge and i get game free and 32gb card.

If bought the big one you shoulod hve gotten little diavants free or got star dusters game free. But i do understand what your saying its abit discouraging to shellout and not see much.. Sounds like trip to the desert.. Ok ill stop the dry humor ;)

  • @196 i ment not being a smart alic . sorry for the typo..

  • OverLord_BlayZen

-sigh- still no phantasy star portable 2… i’d buy that in a heartbeat long as its still was wifi compatable with vita. This is requested since i highly doubt America will be getting phantasy star online 2 for for the vita next year..:(

there’s also dj max fever. i have it and dj max 3. but, only djm3 is playable on the vita. i hope you could add it soon. so i dont have to switch to the psp just to play fever

  • @197.. Im not gasing for straws of any kind.. It may look easy to say hey this game was made this way and this device is superior to this one so it can do it with ease,, But if the game has= crappy coding and framrate etc.. it has be redone,. thus remaster now all those ps1 classic devs may not not together any more..Now sony has do legal paper work to attain such game , and attain such coding by permit..

That how it work and trusts it doesnt happen over night..I have heard some games took 1 yrs or more to get the legal paper work to do.. It not as easy as it look , yes it might be made by sony and published by sony , but yet stil they need to have a side dev to hlp them make it for example gow is a sony game but the dev is santa monica . If santa monica is not around any more they have to get the legal paper work. You cant just redo the game at a whim becuase santa money was paid to wrk for sony. legal papesr were signed.. It has nothing to do with programmers it more legal than programming at a whim.. also if the dev or publishe dnt want it out on ps .. they (ps) cant just do it, alot the devs are on xbox now or wii ,pc etc etc..

  • Phantasy star portable 2 was taken out of the store awhile ago and probably won’t return soon.

  • thank you for the psp support sony(even though I rather play some playstation classic games.)

the other thing I would so love for the ps vita is avatars. no I do not have a ps3 and I will not buy a ps3 just to use avatars.

I see no reason why I can’t download and buy avatars off of my ps vita.

  • can u please tell me when will i be able to play my ps1 game on my vita?

  • Amersonjr2YAHOO

what about socom ftb2 and 3

  • mcbuttz, you’re not only grasping at straws, you’re looking foolish in the process. Your posts are a garbled, incoherent mess of baseless speculation and conjecture. Nintendo didn’t have any problem with b/c on the 3ds with respect to ds games. Why should sony have problems with psp games, minis and psones. Legal shmegle, crappy coding, just a bunch of lame excuses and pathetic rationalizations. So, in other words, nintendo has their act together, and sony doesn’t. Is that it?

Sony doesn’t pay you to defend them, so stop already. You’re not convincing anyone, least of all yourself. More and more, this is looking like a case of deliberately keeping various software off the system.. Why? Perhaps to spur vita software sales. Who knows? Its either that or they’re totally and completely incompetent or just don’t give a damn. Any way you cut it, any way you look at it, sony needs to stop with the excuses and start delivering. Nothing else will do.

I’ll say it again. Sony, honeymoon’s over!

  • I see you guys are hard at work deleting my dissenting opinions.

Your droping the ball on vita, and wether or not you delete my posts…the best handheld that EVER is selling next to NOTHING, studios are dropping projects, and your overall method of bringing bacwards compatibility for stuff is a joke. A flat out joke. 1st party vs 3rd wouldnt be an issue if you would poney up the cash, but you dont. So quit blaming people like Square for things like crisis core not hitting the vita.

I need nothing more than to look at sales figures to see how bad the situation REALLY is…

Im done if this turns into another PSPgo, im giving you the rest of the year to make this the MUST HAVE portable it could AND should be. If you cant ill never support a handheld from you guys again…

You have spread to little butter over to much bread my dear Sony…

again, you have over reached yourselves…FOR NOW…i hope.

  • PSP’s play PS1 games…you set that precedant Sony, not us.

Perhaps you should have called it something else if you wanted to be this far removed from your own brand recognition hmmmmm?

Now you will reap what you have sewn…we WANT PS1 games, no excuses, no exceptions.

  • Just google

Canceled Vita projects people, see for yourselves…

  • I agree, everything is about money and that is the reason alot of already announced titles have been delayed. It is not because the devs need time to polish, it is because the Vitas line up is pathetic. Games are being delayed for the purpose of not releasing too many at one given time, neglecting the fact that many gamers have different tastes and refuse to continue to pay for games that they already own. With the release of one Vita title a month and a lack of apps or any other creative unique software; how do they expect us to “never stop playing” and I will say it again, I dont care about PSP games. The Vita is not a redesigned PSP, playing those titles should be solely an option not a last resort because of lack of Vita specific software. I enjoy the Vita when I can but I’m not gonna stand on the front lines for Sony when I know that they do not give two S!@#s about me as a gamer. Its more like a dollar sign.

  • @192

McButtz?! 10 games a month?! 22 at launch?! Is this a point of view or a paid advert, i cant tell.

Wow, seems like your neglecting to mention you have to suck up every stale genre and kids game to get to that number. I bought the new DWnext and im STILL saying that…

Im a gamer, not an Gamestop store!

Your numbers mean nothing, you totally skipped the point of the low content complaint to give Sony a PR job.

Shame on you sir, shame on you.

They need to hear what we want, not have thier egos stroked, C0mon!

  • I’m one of the “lucky” ones who has a PS3 and I’m tired of looking at the pre-install bubbles for Motorstorm Arctic Edge, Twisted Metal: Head On and a bunch of minis sitting there waiting to be installed on my Vita.

And like a bunch here, I also jumped on the Pixeljunk Monsters last week based on the promise made at this blog and now I’ve got that bubble waiting too.

I don’t even own a PSP – Having the opportunity to try out a bunch of PSP games was one of the primary reasons I pre-ordered a Vita.

  • I have TOnS on my vita, use it daily, and bought it day one. 3g to boot!

Add me, if you think not…

I belive I am entitled to my opinion as a HEAVY vita user…to come out and say we are headed into PSPgo territory.

  • According to Dylan Cuthbert over at pixeljunk on his twitter account, sony just doesn’t have a clue.

Even Sony internally appear confused why Monsters Deluxe isn’t on Vita-making noises that it *should* be available in Europe with the update

    And then.

still chasing up confirmation for that.. no idea yet unfortunately… at the worst it means it will be next Tuesday

Sony has reached joke status. Advertise a product with a youtube ad, pimp it out, buy pjm deluxe now and next week it’ll be playable on the vita, a week later arrives and the mooks at sony have no clue as to why monsters deluxe isn’t on the vita? What are these guys, Mr. Short Term memory? Are you kidding me? Why isn’t someone at Sony losing their job over this?

  • i guess sony realized they had to do this quick. since the number one complaint about the vita is the lack of games. sony could have avoided these criticisms by doing this a month ago, but they didnt, so that way they can sell more games, instead of allowing us to play with our existing playstation plus games, after we just dropped over 300 dollars plus tax for the vita, memory, game.i guess it was greed. anyways im happy with sony. im happy i can soon play ALL my plus games on my vita

  • Is Puddle still coming to the Vita?

  • A lot of people are saying, “hey, the Vita has only been around for a few months”, but the system didn’t just appear out of nowhere. There’s a thing called “lead time”. I don’t know how long the Vita was in development, but it was most certainly a year, at the very least. It’s not like the Vita came out of thin air either. The Vita is the next iteration of the PSP. It shouldn’t be shocking that PSP games run on the Vita flawlessly.

The argument that it takes time to get the titles to work on the Vita doesn’t stand up to reason. Why is there an assortment of games that do work on the Vita, but aren’t advertised officially by Sony? If it wasn’t for a handful of enthusiastic gamers, we wouldn’t have the detailed unofficial list circulating on the web. Why is Sony not the authority on which games work? Why is Sony witholding games in one region that work in another region?

We all want Sony to succeed, but they aren’t doing the things required. Sony should start by making good on its promises, and not alienating it’s biggest fans and early adopters, who are the foundation of its digital entertainment business model.

  • BRAVE STORY and FINAL FANTASY: Crisis Core Please !!! :)

  • Finally but I want Modnation and Pursuit Force

  • Once again, pursuit force works on the vita, but only if you have a ps3 to transfer it over. Yet another sony first party title that inexplicably sony has not put out on the vita store. Incompetence? Oversight? Laziness? Who cares at this point, they’re running the reputation right into the ground with each passing day.

  • I’m looking for Angry Birds on the Vita!

And btw, I’ve been playing Brain Challenge, Killzone Liberation, Rock Band: Unplugged, Uno, Scrabble, Wipeout Pulse, and SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEAL’s Fireteam Bravo on my Vita for almost a month. Those are all PSP games, and some aren’t on the list at all.

All I had to do was plug my Vita into my PS3, which I had them downloaded onto, transfer, and go. Even the Music Store for RB: Unplugged works.

Guys and Gals, if you have PSP games, give ’em a try. They might already work! Mine did.

  • how about psone classics support?

  • An update on PJM deluxe, not from this blog, of course, what do these guys know, anyway.

When reached for comment, Q-Games president Dylan Cuthbert said that some last-minute issues forced the game’s Vita debut to the May 22 PSN update.

The process is long and arduous apparently (internal to Sony), and something hiccupped at the last moment and it got pushed to next week,” Cuthbert said.

While this may be disappointing news for Vita owners in North America, Cuthbert said there was a “99% chance” that the issues were fixed in time for today’s PSN update in Europe.

Unbelievable. Europe will get it, but in NA we have to wait a week. The process is long and arduous? Something hiccupped, as in a brain fart, as in somebody just plain forgot it was supposed to work for May 15th. Sony screws up and now we have to wait an additional week. And these guys think we’re going to keep giving them business. Dream on.

  • I’m not sure why this is not a know fact yet but….

My Vita plays Valkyria Chronicles 2 perfecly fine. That and Jeanne D’Arc.

  • Either Dylan Cuthberth is lying or Sony is very incompetent because nowhere on the EU blog did they mention anything about PJM Deluxe when the sale on Pixel Junk games was announced. Some people tried asking on the blog why that game was missing from the list but they received no reply on that issue as they (Sony) were being bombarded with complaints regarding the ridiculous and unfair pricing. So it’s logical to think that Pixel Junk Monster Deluxe won’t become compatible in the EU this week. However, I’d be really surprised and annoyed if it does turn up out the blue as I’m getting tired of these recurring problems between Sony and the customer that wouldn’t have been if we didn’t hear static most of the time. The 1 week delay isn’t long but what pissed me off is that I had to call Sony directly about this issue. They basically told me after I had to reference the PJ sale that there was no news on PJM Deluxe and they weren’t sure how long it would take for the game to be compatible.
In other words, ‘We at Sony forgot about our false advertisement, and are too lazy to get it fixed right away’.

  • @TMAZT3R
Yes so would I but unfortunately Zipper Interactive have been shut down, So there is little to no hope for more Socom titles in the future, I cried a tear when I heard they where shutting down they where one of my favourite companies.

  • @Ikariux
I would love to see that happen also, I have a PSP go and a PS Vita so I have to get all my PSP games online, but unfortunately they have not released Final Fantasy VII crisis core on the store yet and there are no plans for it to be put on the store in the foreseeable future :(. Hopes are high though, I’ll wait for as long as it takes to play that game.

  • I’d be happy with just Littlebigplanet PSP & MGS Peace Walker .

  • It angers me that there is still no PSONE classics support. This is a really expensive piece of hardware and after all is said and done it has turned into a portable tablet for me.

  • hello playstation
    please add
    metal gear acid
    metal gear acid 2
    metal gear solid portable ops

  • Why can’t I have more than 100 icons on my Vita? I own way more than 100 games and bought a 32gig card.

  • Where’s final fantasy??? God of war??? Dante’s Inferno at least????? This is why I never cared to see you guys put out a line-up of psp games, it’s just the crap ones. Even the PS1 title that accidentally leaked on european servers was Buzz Lightyear!! I hope that’s not what we can expect when PS1 functionality happens. The only good thing about this list, is Peggle.

  • All God of war games!!!!!! Resistance retrabution,All burnout games!!!!!

  • Please release the Metal Gear Solid games and Resistance on the Vita, I loved peacewalker (and for a decent price would even buy it again!) and the other titles (portable ops) I never finished, the controls just didn’t work for me. I’m assuming the new dual analog sticks will make me nice and happy though!

Also Resistance Retribution is a game I always wanted but never got around to, if you could release it again on the store it would be great! I have no idea why it was removed (even for play and purchase on the PSP!!!) that’s pretty strange if you ask me.

  • Now that I’ve had a bit of a rant on my frustrations with Sony’s selection of compatible PSP titles on Vita, I’ll add that I would like to see some titles that were never released digitally on PSP: FF 7 Crisis Core and Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep. I’m sure Square-Enix has their reasons for never making those digitally available that’ll probably result in $50+ from me on some sort of Vita re-release, but it’d be nice to have them digitally on Vita as PSP titles.

  • I want Jeanne D’arc ( My favorite PSP RPG), and Brave World , Phantasy Star Portable 2, Resistanse : Retribution, Killzone :Liberation (The Valkyria 2 comments are true, I play it on my Vita , looks very nice too).

  • Was rather supprised to find Some of the minis that are now newly downloadable to a vita, are downloadable only if using a vita. I couldn’t download them on my ps3 and then move them to my vita after.
I suppose that could be true for some of the new psp games, but i haven’t tested that.

  • At #247, I was able to copy and boot Jeanne D’Arc on my Vita.
Haven’t played yet because I was almost done with it when my PSP died on me and I’m noe playing VC2.

  • Fat Princess!!! Remote Play.
