3…2…1…PulzAR! PS Vita Gets Augmented Reality Puzzle Game Today

We’re very excited to announce the release of PulzAR today, available on PSN for $1.99. In case you’ve missed our past PulzAR blog posts, here’s a word from the game’s lead designer to usher in today’s release:

3…2…1…PulzAR! PS Vita Gets Augmented Reality Puzzle Game Today

I’m Neall Jones, Lead Designer for the next great addition to the PS Vita AR games, PulzAR.

So, what’s PulzAR all about then? Well the Earth is in grave danger, somewhere just beyond our planet’s outer atmosphere five giant asteroids are heading on a deadly collision course with the planet. It’s up to you, the player, to command a network of laser powered rockets to try and blast the asteroids into a harmless meteor shower before they hit the Earth. The first Play Card placed is used as the Arena card and draws the level out, then the puzzles use up to 5 Play Cards to place the three types of objects in the game; Reflectors, Splitters and Color Filters. There have been other laser and light based games before, but none of them have let you see the game world and play it on your table top, something that can only be done with the PS Vita. The original iteration of the puzzles just used Reflectors with the Splitters and Color Filters part of the Arena; we expanded that to allow the other objects to be placed by the player too.

PulzAR 2

Moving the PS Vita around the play area will let you visualize the world in true 3D, you may see a solution you previously hadn’t thought of. Tilt the PS Vita up to the sky to view the asteroids bearing down on you. We hope you enjoy PulzAR and manage to solve all of the puzzles. If you need to get the AR Play Cards or want create a huge arena to play in (by scaling up the cards) then you can download them from here.

Table Top Tanks – Toy Tanks Pack

We’re also happy to announce the brand new DLC for Table Top Tanks – the “Toy Tank Pack.” For only $0.99, players can outfit their tanks and jets with a more whimsical, toy-inspired look – perfect for fooling your opponents into underestimating your power before you seize victory on the battlefield!

We hope you’re enjoying blasting your friends in the addictive Ad-Hoc battle mode too! It’s a wild multiplayer experience that is intensely fun.

That’s all for now, but stay tuned as we’ll have more announcements in the near future regarding AR Play, DLC, and much more.

  • Wow, this is the latest I’ve ever seen an update (past 10:30 Central time), and after a string of rather early updates, too–even last week, with all the extra games, was updated the first time I looked. This is a little disappointing, though it looks like it’ll all be worth the wait, with Gravity Rush, a new AR game and DLC for Tabletop Tanks (I’m still hoping for DLC for Zen and Pinball Arcade, which seem overdue, but I understand the lengthy course DLC must take to get on the store).

  • Wonder if they forgot =P

Was looking forward to grabbing Gravity Rush and Metal Gear for Vita. Guess I should have gotten the physical copies.

  • I find it really funny that there are so many posts complaining about the late update, but you don’t see nearly as many thank yous when the store updates insanely early. (for example the last few weeks. if I am not mistaken last week it was updated at like 11am pacific, for which the normal update time is before 5pm pacific)

they will give us the games we want, just doesn’t always turn out the way you planned. I am sure the team did not plan to update late, so lighten up!

  • *Is laughing at everyone complaining* haha somebody better call the WAAAAHmbulance!

  • I love Sony and my ps Vita, I also love my xbox 360. I do not recall Microsoft every taking so long to update there store, ever.

  • I wish they give us a set time of the updates, and if they’re running late, put up post stating a delay. Is that so hard to ask?

  • theXsilentXchild

Love my psn+. Been a member since 2010 and don’t have to renew till 2014. I await the update like most and i am disappointed when its not up on time like most. i can wait it out because.i know it will be a good one but feel bad for all the new subscribes that bought for the game collection. pretty bad move on sons part. any new psn+ members just wait it out. its worth it

    @ lunaluagua:

“do something other than argue with people on a video game board with your ‘ultimate wisdom’ ”

Ultimate wisdom? Is that how you see me? Cool, thanks for the compliment! That’s awesome! But don’t worry, I’m not here to argue. I had the basketball game on, while refreshing the blog every few minutes to see if the store had updated yet. It’s not like I’m just waving my fist at the monitor. It’s my day off man, I’m chillin’.

    You don’t sound too happy though… that’s a shame…

  • WHAT THE HELLLL SONY, its about to be midnight. you forgot to date the gohh damnn store LOL.

  • update**

  • okay one i don’t really care if it’s updated late cuz its not like i am buying anything this week or at least plan to. and i can understand people that are mad cuz they wanted to buy something today and play it but can’t. and it probably sucks even more for those that only have a couple days off work this day included. two it’s like im gonna die if its updated late.

but what really bothers me are these stupid elitists that come on here and act like they’re better than everyone else cuz they’re not complaining. shut up already and if you don’t care so much about it being updated stop refreshing the page to read complaints. yeah, that’s right stupid elitist comments bother me more than the complainers.

  • Consistency makes for a good business model.

  • I can easily see both sides of the update argument. Yeah, it’ll come, but it’s 11:59PM EDT and there still isn’t anything up. I prefer digital releases due to my visual impairment, but waiting until 5PM-8PM when I could have walked to the local GameStop and picked up a physical copy is a little irritating. Why should I buy direct from the PSStore if I can just go pick up a game card and be done with it, AND have access to the game HOURS before the Store update? It’s a little silly if you ask me.

  • I have the same problem with “raamlife”

I can’t install call of duty black ops map pack 2

It’s stop on 14% then it say error

    Sorry for my bad English
    I’m Arabian

SWANSONG: “I love Sony and my ps Vita, I also love my xbox 360. I do not recall Microsoft every taking so long to update there store, ever.”

What are you talking about? Microsoft is a day late every week. Today is New Release Tuesday. Go check and see if Microsoft has updated their marketplace yet…

Sorry, but that makes you sound even more childish than the people you’re attacking. The fact is that, a few minutes after I write this, it will be technically Wednesday for the people in the Eastern time zone, and while there is no contract stating that updates must appear on Tuesdays, I can understand people being frustrated and impatient. This is going to be an especially good update for those who own Vitas, with several games being released (including at least one PSN only game), and many of them have felt a little jilted by Sony since E3.

You see me as an elitist? Wow! Thanks! Another compliment! But hey, if it’s so stupid to do that, then why are you doing it too? Hmm…

You must be, like, the ultimate elitist of the elitists, in order for you to have the authority to attack us regular elitists.

Golly, I tell ya, those super elitists piss me off even more than the regular elitists! Damn elitism is running rampant!

  • I wish they had a set two like the other two companies. It is cool when it updates early but it is bad when it is this late. People want to download and play the game the same day.

  • PrimeroIncognito

Truth be told, I’m just goofing off and having fun with all you impatient nerds. I don’t really give a @#$%…

  • Does no one at Sony think of PSN updates on Monday? Or do they leave everything until Tuesday and hope they can get it done before the end of the day?

…I’m joking. I bet it’s difficult. I just wish it had more of a fixed schedule, then there wouldn’t be many people out of their minds because they’ve been checking for updates for 12 hours.

  • @112 PrimeroIncognito AGAIN, you’re missing the point. Microsoft designates their update day. The make that deadline EVERYTIME. When I log on to LIVE, I can expect it to be updated as they said it would. Same as with Steam, Itunes, and wii. And, of course, when I walk into a brick and mortar store, their merchandising is updated as well…or GUESS WHAT…they lose business. This is bogus.

  • This has got to be embarrassing.
“Hey guys, buy our game, it comes out today! Years of hard work, finally coming to fruition!”

Sony: “HOOOOOHAHAHAHA yea, no. That’s not going to happen. Grace is still hitting the snooze button as far as we know. I hope your next game launches on a service that isn’t a train wreck, but thanks for making a game for our nosediving portable!”

  • Why tell us this game would be coming out on June 12 if you don’t update the store until after midnight?

  • All These People Throwing Fits Are Most Likely 360 Fan Boys That Just Made A PSN Name To Talk Crap!!!!

  • I was really looking forward to coming home after work and being able to play some gravity rush on its release day. Apparently that will not be happening……….

  • Anybody else wondering if they’re setting up the PSOne games for Vita? That might explain the late update. (Yeah, I know, fat chance, but it’s going to happen some day).

  • @121
Yes, and several of us also paid for PS+ to make it more believable! Its the perfect crime.

You can’t think clearly when you’re having a PMS attack. Take a deep breath, collect your thoughts and try again. You didn’t prove anything with that last rant full of vague and speculative nonsense. Perception is not always reality, and preventative measures that business people employ rarely predicts actual outcomes.

Translation: I have no idea what I’m talking about, I hope nobody notices that I’m completely full of you know what and just incoherently babbling away.

  • Gravity Rush is up to download as of now, though it is 1.5 GB so I sadly will have to wait until tomorrow. Goodnight cruel world!

  • UPDATE!!!!!!

  • And, yes, this is especially annoying as I am newly minted + member. Now Sony has me locked into their ecosystem so my complaints don’t really matter, do they? I DON’T want free games. I just want a reasonable and reliable digital distribution service from my PS3. I just want fair and timely merchandise. That’s it. Cut out all the bells and whistles.

@121 jw011576 Yeah, all these Xbox “fanboys” with yellow plus signs above their avatar. GTFO.

jeremybristol: ” I can understand people being frustrated and impatient.”

Why? They’re just video games. If you were starving and waiting on food to be delivered by someone you’re dependent on, then I could understand the frustration. But just for video games? Dude, games are great and all that, but, seriously, no. The spoiled brats just don’t appreciate what they have. They whine over the most shallow things.

“and many of them have felt a little jilted by Sony since E3.”

How can anyone feel “jilted” by Sony? Did Sony steal their food and burn their house down? You kids and your “first-world problems”. It’s really embarrassing to humanity in general. While some people in this world starve to death, dodge bombs being dropped on their neighborhoods, or sleep on the street in filthy tattered clothes, you people complain that: “There’s not enough games to play on Vita!”

    Ugh…

  • I’m getting Gravity Rush from Gamefly. So I won’t be playing it till tomorrow or Thursday. lol

  • Carlos_spicy8--o

The store has partially updated. To find MGS collection, search for it. Gravity Rush is there as well. I can’t find this game. This is only on vita, my ps3 hasn’t updated yet.

Translation: I totally got destroyed by PrimeroIncognito but I don’t have the stones to admit it, so I’ll just type up some vague pseudo-intellectual filler material and hope it keeps everyone from noticing my massive failure in that debate.

  • just bought metal gear and gravity rush… time for bed Zzzzz

  • To all Microsoft fans here, go to collect your free game on the Xbox Store… oh, wait… there is NO ONE!!! XD

Sony has all my trust. Period.

  • PrimeroIncognito

Breakfuss: “Microsoft designates their update day. The make that deadline EVERYTIME.”

It’s easy to update on time when you specifically give yourself an entire extra day to get it all together. If Sony updated on Wednesdays also, there’d never be a late update from them either. Oh, but then all you babies would complain about the update day being moved forward by one day…

You’re really giving them credit for being a day later than Sony? At least Sony tries to get us the new content early. Microsoft just says, “Screw it. We don’t wanna work that hard. Let’s just do updates on the day after.”

  • Primero, why don’t you take those two IQ points of yours and rub them together to see if you can start a fire. Granted, it would be a very, very small fire.

  • PrimeroIncognito

Golly, that really hurt. I’m going to kill myself now.

No, seriously dude, if you were really as smart as you pretend to be, you’d be able to come up with something a lot more clever than that.

  • They should make vita releases on Monday so that the vita has its own psn release day and its not so confusing for us and the team to sort through it all. Then keep ps3 and psn store updates the same for Tuesday.

  • @134 Primero Sorry to say, but that argument doesn’t hold water. Sony used to update on Thursdays and back then also had trouble getting updates out regularly (and at least once, it took until the next day). Both companies get the content when it’s done, which is likely a few days ahead of time. Unfortunately, Sony has not been very consistent in its update times.

  • Wahaha, the people who are obsessed with digital releases get the shaft again. I love it. If you’ve been blessed with working legs, then use them! It’s not that hard to get off your couch and change game discs. You people make it seem like getting up to swap games is like running a marathon. lol. Ok, ok, I’m just trolling. But yeah, digital releases still stink. You could be hours into Gravity Rush already if you just bought the physical copy or did Amazon release day delivery. rofl.

  • GRACE CHEN!!! NOooooooooooooooooooooooooo update the store pls OMGOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • PrimeroIncognito

Heatseeker125 “You people make it seem like getting up to swap games is like running a marathon.”

Exactly. That’s another thing I don’t get about these people. I’ve seen a few people say that over the years and it just blows my mind. No wonder they’re all fat. Some have even said they have two PS3’s just so they can hit the input button on the remote to change to another game in the other console…

    !!!

  • I like trains

  • Just to let people know if you want Gravity Rush just search for it and you can buy and download. At least on the PS3 PSN.

  • So is there just no update this week or?

Why are people complaining about complainers?
Some of us do pay for PSN Plus and look forward to new stuff on Tuesdays.
I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t let Sony know how we feel about it so maybe they will try a bit harder next time.

While on the subject, I’d like to see Sony space out their freebies for Plus users a bit.

  • Does anyone think asking for a popular medium for help in this matter? Like asking Kotaku, or egmnow, or other games website to get to the bottom of these delays.

The only thing constant about Sony’s update is the delays and random update times.

  • I don’t usually complain about late updates , it happens after all , nut it;s no longer tuesday in the east and nearly there in the west and no update yet , If it comes before midnight I’m usually fine , but this late without any explanations or posts saying sorry about the late update is a little annoying for anyone .

in the future it would be nice to have some sort of port , even just saying sorry we are experiencing difficulty with todays store update and it will be available as soon as we can get it fixed . thanks for your patience

please consider a post like this in the future if the update is going to be on wednesday or really late , thanks for reading ( if anyone did )
