More DUST 514 Beta Codes Available in PlayStation Home

Legions of you turned out last week for the virtual E3 booth in PlayStation Home, and one of the biggest showcases was the introduction of DUST 514, a PS3-exclusive PSN multiplayer shooter from CCP. As the excitement around DUST 514 is growing each day, I wanted to let everyone know that there are still some DUST 514 beta codes available.

More DUST 514 Beta Codes Available in PlayStation Home

Log into PlayStation Home today and make your way to the DUST 514 space, called The Event Horizon Lounge. It is found directly on the Navigator (once in Home, hit Start > Navigator > New and Recommended > The Event Horizon Lounge). Once in the Lounge, talk to the bartender. She’ll give you a little info on Mercenaries, and direct you to the Recruiter who can help you get a beta code. Once you’ve learned more about the EVE universe and secured your code, make your way down the corridor on the left and play the addictive game of Slay—a tabletop style game of world domination.

Lastly, of course there are rewards in the Event Horizon Lounge:

  • Dropsuit Challenge – If a user plays a game of Slay and wins, they get a free DUST 514 Merc Dropsuit outfit for their avatar. There will be new Dropsuits released every week (total of 4)
  • Also, if a user downloads the DUST 514 client, released later this year, they will also be rewarded a free Companion Drone

We look forward to seeing you on the battlefield!

  • So one dropsuit per week but do you cycle them in and out? Can you still earn last week’s suit? Thanks.

    • To get them all, you have to sign in each week and get it. There will be no recycling, so last week’s suit is gone if you missed it.

    • UPDATE:

I got clarification from CCP and the reward outfits are in fact rotated weekly, so if you missed last week’s, you will have another chance in the coming weeks. They are swapped out Monday mornings (GMT).

  • I would love to, but I suck at strategy games, and the idea of winning a strategy game to get into a beta for a First Person shooter confuses me.

    • There are a few tables in the Event Horizon Lounge, so you might get some players who are on your level when you play. It’s a fun little game and should prepare you for battle.

  • hopefully we get to play in real time on the playstation vita as well, man that would be totally awesome!!!!!!!

  • Nobody is forcing you to play a strategy game, but if you get it you’ll be rewarded :P I am sure Sony will give more beta keys in the upcoming days and weeks via various sources, and not only Slay – PS Home game :)

I like the idea that CCP is making you work for your beta key – it’s a good filter, if you know what I mean :P

  • I think you can also still register at the DUST 514 website for a beta code. I got one by e-mail about 3 weeks after registering. I’m enjoying the beta (bugs and all). It reminds me of MAG, which I was also a fan of. The game is so deep with customization you can spend hours just figuring out what upgrades you want to buy. The maps are huge, and set up really well. My one big concern is the frame rate issues, but that’s what a beta is for.

  • Can there be an indicator of which suit’s on offer per week? Played a round today, but I only have my first, from yesterday (before today;s Home update).

  • Pretty cool, but probably will wait for the release instead of the Beta. Still this sounds awesome that you have Home pretty involved. Since this is a free PSN game it makes sense to get users involved early.

@1 TheMissingLink – wow you were great up there at spot 1 making sure everyone knows your pure hate for Dust 514. You have let the world, if not, just the US blog readers know that you know how to spell Nope! Nope, TheMissingLink will actually end up playing Dust 514 and liking it, making a laugh of his blog post of “Nope.” What a cool guy TheMissingLink is, nope!

  • I was granted access to DUST 514 Beta prior to E3 and have it downloaded onto my HDD but have not received the companion. Do I need to update the beta or something in order to receive the reward item?

  • This weeks dropsuit was a big..thing…I am very descriptive. I spent literally hours trying to beat slay…Do yourselves a favor and start on map 9, one of your starting positions is fairly secluded, making it the easiest one.

  • “If a user downloads the DUST 514 client, released later this year, they will also be rewarded a free Companion Drone”

So, if the client is released later this year, then what was the Gig-and-a-half thing I just downloaded?

  • #8 LUGIEZ – I’m going to venture to guess he meant visiting Playstation Home to get a beta code, not the actual DUST 514 game itself. Because, you know, people think PS Home is a waste of space / time… which it is.

    Your little mini-rant was lovely.

  • This Slay game is annoying. I have to skip like 6 turns before I can buy any soldiers or whatever, there are virtually no instructions, and it is not at all friendly to people who don’t play RTS games.

I agree that you should not have to play an RTS to quality for a beta to an FPS. I wanna play this beta, but this game seems impossible unless you are an RTS veteran.

  • I found out that you dont need to win that gave to get the beta code, just play it and watch the videos than get the code. and i do not think that the game was very good at all, Dust could have done better than that.

    • Correct. Winning the game will unlock weekly Home rewards. Follow all the instructions from the Recruiter NPC and you’ll get a code while they’re still in stock.

  • Got a Beta code from Home (I was actually lucky and won on my second game of Slay). Haven’t officially played it yet, but it looks like it’s going to be awesome!

Also for those that don’t know: The beta servers are only available on the weekends (From 4:30am PST Thursday to 4am PST Monday) so if you try to log on before then you’ll get an error message.

  • LOL. all of you are so stupid. It doesnt say “play slay AND WIN” its says “play slay”. You can lose the game and still run back over to the place where you watch those 4 videos to get your beta code.

  • @16
I am aware you don’t have to win, but it would be nice to actually be able to try to win (since you do get stuff if you win). The game is terrible, though.

    @15
The beta is only on the weekends? Also, I have to see what the times are for me (I am not PST) and the only time converter I have only lists PST8PDT, whatever that means.

  • As people have been saying in the last few posts, you don’t actually need to WIN the game of Slay to get the key, you just need to play a game (doesn’t even have to be multiplayer) and watch the 4 videos near the recruiter guy.

@13 You should be able to summon a guy in every zone on the first turn.

@17 4:30AM Pacific (PDT) is 5:30 Mountain (MDT), 6:30 Central (CDT) and 7:30 Eastern (EDT). You can always google it, too to find out what time it is where you are.

@Everyone Slay isn’t supposed to be a stand-alone game or anything, it’s just sort of supposed to be interesting and fun. If you don’t like it fine, but I think it’s pretty fun and more interesting than just “go collect some random thing” or “watch these videos”. It also takes a more skill than just button mashing. And again, like people have said, you don’t need to win to get a key.

Also, the beta is awesome and easily worth the short time it takes to get a key. If you download it today you could be playing by tomorrow morning.

  • aww…i check the blog every day and didnt see anything about last weeks…..oh well…im ggetting on this week :D

  • @14 the Dust514 closed beta is a true closed beta if you didn’t read the loading screens it is a work in progress and the dust event on the 29th will be the new build which will upgrade the game considerably don’t pass judgement on something that is just taking form. I for one do like the closed beta dust514 shows a lot of potential and I hope others see that as well to all new closed beta members welcome :D and good luck :)

  • I got to play it a bit on Sunday and I actually had fun with it. I’m not really a first person shooter kind of gamer by any means but I could get into Dust 514. I like the whole mercenary idea. Simply a gun for hire to fight in these corporate wars for control over resources and land.

and I rather like the whole idea that (once actually released) our free to play FPS will affect the economy of Eve Online. Makes the game actually feel like the online has a purpose other than trying to get a good kill/death ratio. DEFINITELY something that can only be done on Playstation!

  • i want drop suits

  • Sweet… I just got my beta key

  • Thanks for the heads up. I had checked out the space last week from the virtual E3 booth. I got my dropsuit but somehow missed the beta details. I appreciate you letting people know there are more beta keys left. I just got mine! I have never been much for MMO or FPS but the concept to this game is so interesting I am looking forward to checking it out. I used to think it was just Sony lip service but you are proving that you mean what you say about: “experiences only possible on Playstation”. Things like this are why my PS3 is my console of choice. Your re commitment to gamers is much appreciated. Keep these great experiences coming.

  • Got my beta key in about 15-20 minutes, glad i checked the blog today.

  • I played all Single Player game slots and lost every one that should give me a drop suit for determination at least. When I try to get into Multiplayer it just sits there on the search screen when a friend is on that same table. I leave it on the search menu for at least five minutes + and no games show in the menu.

What’s up with this, has been that way since day one of E3.

  • Decided to give this a try…Talked to recruiter, hit the browser to sign up for a code there too…Didn’t work. Froze my PS3. Had to do a hard shutdown, and the system got scared because it didn’t power off correctly.

    WHOOPS!

  • so I’m I to late to get a key? I did every thing I needed to get a key and it gives me a bunch of X’s.

  • I turned on my PS3 shortly after checking the Blog this evening to find this wonderful surprise, traveled into the realm of PlayStation Home and downloaded the DUST 514 scene, but even after following all the required steps I am presented with a 16 digit beta code that consists of only X.

  • I think we’re too late, I got the X’s as well. Maybe we’ll get another shot later, wasn’t lucky enough to get one via the beta Site either.

  • I would have figured that PlayStation Plus members would be receiving the beta in a weekly drop sometime soon. It only makes sense.

  • @28-31
They said a while back they’ll be rolling out a big batch (presumably the 10k they gave out through their PSHome space) around E3, and add more big groups later during the summer. They have a big Beta event on June 29th, so after that weekend, I wouldn’t be surprised if they send out more codes.

Just keep an eye on your email and maybe check back in on the Event Horizon Lounge every so often.

  • Got my beta code last week!

It really helps playing on Map 2 with another person. Having one less team to worry about is much easier. I do enjoy the game too. I’ll give it a go on Map 9!

Anyways I’m actually really glad those suits are non-recyclable (makes them more exclusive) Got this week’s and last weeks and can’t wait for the Logistics suit =D

I’m loving DUST 514 so far and I like the idea of having cheaper AUR to buy in Home (a nice option) but will that be there permanently or is this space going down when the full game comes out? I don’t think it’s going down because that’d be a waste of a good space and a game.

oh I guess I’m playing tomorrow then! I thought I’d be wasting the beta by not playing it all the time but it turns out really good that I can only play it on the weekends!

Just got back into Home (for E3 rewards, but I got more into it than that) and I’m loving every bit!

  • NOOOOOOOOOOO! I’m to late. The only day I don’t check the blog was the the day I should have the most. Will there be another beta key giveaway any time soon?

  • Watching the videos, it just isn’t the same without the original Aura voice… I think I’d actually be disappointed when the game comes out, if they don’t have the original Aura voice. Just wouldn’t feel like EVE Online.

  • Why does the Slay game hate me. X( I am horrible at RTS games. And I was so excited when I heard about the Rewards too. Looks like I might not be getting any DropSuit rewards. God why did it have to be a RTS. X(

  • Guys I have a problemwith my voucher code,
All the letters of the code are x and obviously when I try to redeem the code, it says the code is incorrect .
Please some help me with I will appreciated your kindness.

  • I got access to the Dust514 area on the ground floor of the virtual E3 space. What didn’t I do that kept me from getting the dropsuit? As far as I noticed there was just one screen there playing the trailer for Dust514 (one I had already seen and I watched it again anyway). Also, why wasn’t it said somewhere that you could win a dropsuit from that area (this is the first I’m hearing of it)?

  • Dust 514 looks great wish I got into the BETA signed up on the website like day 1 anyways I hope I get a code in HOME wish me luck.

  • @38

I think that’s why a lot of people missed the initial Dust beta key give-away, because it’s not the E3 space that gives you anything. There’s an area called the Event Horizon Lounge that is completely separate from the E3 booth. There are instructions to get to it in the article above (if you’re curious, you could also access it by walking up to the large marine near the Dust space in the E3 booth area).

  • @20..I feel the same way dude this game is going to be epic..its still in closed beta form so what would you expect..me personally I’m loving helping out submitting feedback on glitches and bugs because that’s all part of making a great game is having a great gaming community..this is not COD,BF,or any other shooter it’s simple more than a shooter..and for all you spectators just sit back and watch greatness unfold on the 29th(open beta) also all summer long!!!!!!!

  • ok i did all the stuff in home and the code it gave me is XXXX-XXXX-XXXX am i trpping or does that just seem wrong…???

  • I’ve got try play this game.

  • I’ve tried this 5 minutes ago and it worked perfectly for me! I got a correct code and now I’m downloading the beta client.

  • Downloading update data… 8 minutes left

  • Well the event horizon lounge only became available on the navigator yesterday, so who was to know you could somehow go there last week :/ (or from where for that matter). Just disapointed to miss out on a dropsuit is all, I don’t mind either way on the beta.

  • @42 I got the same message, me thinks they are out of beta codes already. Maybe we will luck out and get one for registering our e-mail.

  • I have been all over the dust514.com website like a monkey for the past few months trying to get into the closed beta. It just so happened that i was completely unaware this blog even existed until it popped up in a google search just yesterday while I was searching for — you guessed it — information on getting into the closed beta.

After 4 hours trying to win a game of Slay, and watching all the videos in the lobby — And I mean ALL of them, just to be sure and to get a little more Dust 514 information IV drip — I was up until 5am last night trying to get a beta code and less than a day after that blog was posted, they were all gone.

This morning Isee someone leaving comments about getting a code this morning, freak out, jump back into Event Horizon and run through the video hamster wheel again just for good measure, and sure enough the same result; no more keys, and instead of a good key I get all X-es.

This has been literally the most frustrating experience trying to beta test a game. EVER. I have beta tested over a dozen first-party titles in the past ten years, well enough to get a few free copies even, and this has been a symphony of failure.

    • I’m sorry you just missed the end of the beta codes for this round. The good news today is that I got confirmation from CCP that they will be adding another batch of DUST 514 beta codes to PlayStation Home later this summer (no date confirmed yet), so stay tuned. We will be sure to let people know in future PS Home blog posts when CCP adds more codes. Keep an eye out for them.

  • the game is soooooooo hard to beat… ill probably never get a suit lol.

  • Wish there would’ve been better communication about the beta round ending.
I spent my morning jumping through hoops for a beta code, and it was for nothing. :/
Not something I think I’ll try again. It does look like a great game though.
