Four New Tables Coming to The Pinball Arcade This Summer

A lot of people are calling The Pinball Arcade the greatest pinball simulation ever created. At FarSight, we take great pride in our work and we take this distinction very seriously. We are focused on adding a steady stream of great pinball tables into The Pinball Arcade for both PS3 and PS Vita.

It’s always a pleasure to get feedback from hardcore pinball fans telling us how much they appreciate the attention to detail we put into each table. We actually own a real, physical machine of each table, which we re-create digitally. Our studio’s rec room and half of our conference room are already full! So full, in fact, that I’ll be moving my favorite machine — Creature from the Black Lagoon — into my office to make room for the some others that we just bought!

We’ve already released four new tables with two great DLC expansions: Add-On Pack 1 (Medieval Madness, The Machine: Bride of Pin*Bot) and Add-On Pack 2 (Cirqus Voltaire, Funhouse), both of which are now available on PSN.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you’re encountering issues downloading these expansions, click here for further details and a fix.

Today, we’re announcing more great new tables that will be coming your way this August! Both Add-On Pack 3 and Add-On Pack 4 are scheduled for an August release for PS3 and PS Vita, with each expansion adding two new tables. All four tables are historically significant and are treasured by pinball enthusiasts for their exquisite craftsmanship and cutting-edge mechanical design.

Add-On Pack 3

The Pinball Arcade: Gorgar

The Pinball Arcade: Monster Bash

Monster Bash was originally released in 1998 and was designed by George Gomez. The goal of the table is to get six of the most iconic Universal Studios Monsters to form a band the likes of which has never been seen! If you can dig out the Mummy, he’ll dust himself off and plug in his bass. Dracula will fly out of his coffin, dying to sink his teeth into a mean guitar riff. The Creature from the Black Lagoon will crank on his sax! Frankenstein will jump off his slab and jam on his keyboard. The Bride of Frankenstein will start to sing about her Ball and Chain and the Wolfman will give you a howling drumbeat. With the help of the Phantom Flip auto-play feature, you can let go of the flippers and watch the game complete your shots! The manufacturer released 3,361 units of the table.

Also included in Add-On Pack 3 is Gorgar, a classic 1979-era table designed by Barry Oursler, a legendary designer credited with Pin·Bot, Cyclone, Comet, Space Shuttle, and Jungle Lord to name just a few. Gorgar was the very first “talking” pinball machine. With a vocabulary of seven words (Gorgar, Speaks, Beat, Me, You, Hurt, and Got), Gorgar is able to say phrases such as “Gorgar speaks,” “Me Gorgar, beat me,” and “You hurt Gorgar.” It has a magnetic Snake Pit that holds your ball captive as he thunders, “Me got you.” The audio also features a heartbeat sound that races faster and faster as the action of the gameplay builds up.

Monster Bash alone fetches a very high price if you want to buy the real machine, but soon you’ll be able to enjoy it and Gorgar for just $4.99.

Add-On Pack 4

The Pinball Arcade: Creature From the Black Lagoon

Creature from the Black Lagoon was designed by the legendary John Trudeau. Doctor Flash, as he’s known, was involved in the design of over 50 games for Gottlieb, Williams and Bally! “Creature” combines the excitement of watching a famous Universal monster flick with the fun of a drive-in movie date. The player has to save their date from the Creature and, if successful, is rewarded by seeing the world’s first ever pinball hologram! This classic table also features story and dialog from the movie.

Black Knight was designed by Steve Richie — who also lent his vocal talents as the voice of the Black Knight. This table was the first ever to introduce a split-level playfield, with three ramps leading to and from the upper playfield. This classic also featured the first ever Magna-Save: a magnet that allowed users to push a button which saves a ball from draining down the outlane. Another first was Bonus Ball. In a multi-player game, this feature awards the player with the highest score a few additional seconds of free play.

With our successful campaign to help raise money for the Twilight Zone table and other great tables already in development, FarSight is very excited about adding many more amazing classics to our collection in the upcoming years!

  • Will one of these updates add trophy support for the DLC tables?

    • For sure, add-on packs 3 and 4 will support trophies. We’re still looking into whether we can add it for the DLC that has already been released.

  • Very nice. I’ve already purchased all the packs and I’m looking forward to these as well, especially Twilight Zone. I also heard that you guys were doing a Kickstarter for Star Trek:TNG, so hopefully that campaign has a similar turnout.

Just one question: Is the team planning on pushing out any updates to expand the number of trophies in this game for any of the new tables? I know this has been one of the few gripes that trophy hunters have been complaining about. Apart from that, keep up the killer job!

    • Thanks! and yes, we will be adding more trophies! We’re still looking into whether adding trophies to the first two DLC packs is possible.

  • I freaking love Pinball Arcade on my Vita. I’m no wizard, but i play it at least once every other day.

I’ve already bought both DLC packs the day they released, am super excited for these new tables coming so soon, and so happy with Farsight Studios for supporting us fans and customers. Thanks, and keep on building the collection.

  • I’m looking forward to the new tables! Pinball Arcade definitely the best. Could I suggest “Dirty Harry ” for future consideration? I can imagine how many suggestions you guys get, but I just wanted to get mine in there too. Thanks

  • Can you please look into adding an option to change the flipper buttons to thumb buttons? I like the action of pressing a button so the touch screen option doesn’t work for me, yet using only the triggers becomes uncomfortable for me. I would love to use face buttons and the d-pad to control the flippers.

  • Any chance we will see the original Pin Bot table any time soon? My sister owns it on the disc based Williams collection you guys made and I am quite jealous.

  • Any chance of Black Rose coming to The Pinball Arcade? I have great memories of that one.

  • Trophies for the expansions, please?

  • i enjoy this game alot, im a casual player of pinball but i absolutely love it, im wondering why i haven’t purchase the add-on’s maybe pricing? i dont know but i will take a look. i will though since i believe it works on my PS3 copy as well. game looks and sounds crazy on vita with the official vita in ear eafbud. try them devs you will bug out lol. keep up the great work.

I’m curious, do the game save transfer to ps3 and vita continuing my game on the go?

    • You get both games with one purchase, but you currently can’t continue your game or transfer the save data.

  • Loving the game, and plan on buying all expansions when they become available (already got both DLC out already.) Would love to see Adams Family, and Apollo 13.

  • I love the game for my Vita and I will definitely be getting the new tables. Is there any chance that some of the log-on/save prompts (when starting a table) could be automated or hidden?

  • I really enjoy this title as well and have purchased all your DLC Tables. I have been playing more on the Vita and I 2nd the request above about being able to use alternative face buttons instead of the touch screen when in Vertical mode.

Plus any effort you can make to improve the Physics of your tables (especially on Vita) would be a big help. I can frequently see bounces that do not seem right and even jumps where the ball doesn’t smoothly transition from one position to another.

Hopefully you will do some general improvements to the control portion of the game as well as add two of my favorite Williams Pinball tables (Cyclone and Taxi).

  • CAN WE PLEASE GET ALPHABETICAL SORTING OF PSN GAMES IN THE XMB? WHY THE HELL HASN’T THIS BEEN AVAILABLE? IS IT REALLY SO HARD TO PROGRAM??

    ALPHABETICAL SORTING, NOW!

  • I love this game! Definitely the most fun I’ve had playing pinball on any system, and I look forward to tables being released for years to come.

BTW – you guys should drop by pinballarcadefans.com if you want to discuss the game. Lots of the devs drop in there as well.

  • First day purchase! Looks awesome!

Btw, the change in graphics on Ripley’s is awfully dark. I like the way the lights are flashier but it just seems like someone turned the brightness way down. Even the flippers don’t look right. It’s one of my favorite tables so could you consider a re-adjustment there?

Thanks for the recent fixes, like getting rid of the annoying Facebook stuff and letting it remember the camera views. I really appreciate that! It definitely shows you’re paying close attention to feedback.

One thing I’d especially love for the future is the ability to play my own music while playing, but I understand you’re still perfecting, too.

  • purchased the two dlc packs, loving it so far, can’t wait for the 2 dlc packs in august!

  • I already have both table dlcs releases so far and totally plan on bying these as well as future releases. There is however 1 think that stops it from being a perfect game for me. When holding the Vita sideways it would be nice if I could make the bottom of the rear pad do the nudging. Sometimes a nudge needs to be done with quick reflexes and having it at the top of the pad is a pain to reach and takes you out of the game.

  • Great job so far Bobby. Got it on my iDevices and PS3/Vita. Btw, if you’re running out of space you can always send me Medieval Madness. I could never afford that pin…

  • I got the first 2 dlc packs and like the tables a lot but was really annoyed by the need to re-download the entire game to activate the dlc , why was it not just add-ons like every other game on psn ? when they add tables to zen and marvel pinball you just update the game ( and this adds trophies for the dlc which you guys should have done ) and then you download a small dlc patch of 35 or 40 mb ,

hope you get that sorted out next time because i don’t want to be continually downloading bigger and bigger games just to add a new table or two , and please add the ability to adjust the controls so the nudge table is added to either one of the thumb sticks or to use the sixassis controls to shake the take .
one more thing , add a few more views please if possible , the three available are all close to the perfect setup but all are off by a bit , look at zen pinballs 7 available views for what a good selection of views is . other than that the tables are all fun , but sometimes there is a weird floating of the ball near the flippers and the ball jumps around too fast to catch it on the flippers properly .

  • AutomaticOcelot

New tables look good! For whatever reason I ended up with Zen’s releases on my PS3 and FarSight’s releases on my 360, but I think I’ll rebuy Pinball Arcade on PS3 shortly with the DLC. Consider that my belated kickstarter contribution. j/k ;) Good luck with Twilight and TNG! Those are biggies to get right. I do hope you constantly review the physics and flipper feel on each table conversion. As incredibly good as the engine is, it’s not carte blanche perfect for every table.

  • This is great news, however I have one complaint. I find that the tables Funhouse and Medieva Madness play better on the Williams Collection disc version than they do on Pinball Arcade. This is mainly due to having the smart cam camera which allows you to see the table and features better, especially at the top of the table. You really need to implement an addition camera that allows you to follow the ball better at the top of the tables. That being said I am really looking forward to the new tables.

  • I freaking love the Pinball Arcade , one of the best pinball sims of all time IMO , and as both a Vita owner and PS3 owner it’s one of the best deals to buy the game and get both versions for one price , now that’s what I call a crossplatform game. Just trust me if you haven’t already, download the demo and check their game out. If you think you’ve played one pinball game , you’ve played them, you’re in for a suprise.

  • Glad you’re adding trophies to the DLC, not including them in the first two packs was a mistake.

Any chance for some Simpsons Pinball Tables?

  • I love your games (got 100% trophies on PB HoF), but I am extremely disappointed by the way you are releasing “new” DLC. I purchased both packs which were about 100kb downloads, which means the tables were already in the game and I had to pay $10 just to unlock them. I thought you guys were still working to create new content, which I was more than happy to support and pay for.
This is one of the biggest problems of the current generation. PB HoF was originally a PS2 game, and back then games had to be 100% perfect and complete at the time of release because there was no way to issue patches and DLC.

So far, I have spent $20 on PA, which is a fair price , but if you are going to ask eople to pay more to unlock tables that are already in the game they have paid for, the level of support you have right now is likely going to dwindle.
Passion alone obviously isn’t enough to allow you to create these perfect games, but you have to have a balance. Developers get a lot more recognition these days and gamers are happy to support them but when you start saying “buy our new content” and we find that we bought a game we can’t fully access, then you are are focusing too much on profit and lose a lot of respect and credibility.

  • Also, one improvement I’d like to see is with the sound volume. I know you are going for authenticity so I don’t think you need to make other enhancements to it, but the current volume level of the game is just too quiet, so a boost on that, or even just an option that allows the player to adjust/increase the volume would be perfect.

  • “We’re still looking into whether adding trophies to the first two DLC packs is possible.”

Why not just say “We aren’t sure if we want to work on adding trophies to the first two DLC packs”. Of course it’s possible. HONESTY, guys! Come on!

  • Trophies have been patched into retail games before; it should definitely be possible. It’s good to hear you’re looking into how to do it, though! And thanks for the update on the upcoming tables. I can’t wait to play a nicely optimized Gorgar in HD. :)

  • 1992 Star Trek, Twilight Zone, Hook, Addams Family, and a ton more from the early to mid 90’s.

1992 Star Trek was the best because you could break the center target than shake the machine for big points. Sucks if you own one though.

  • Finally, some Steve Ritchie recognition. Now we need The Getaway (or original High Speed) and F-14 Tomcat in the game.

  • Blandlytasteful

@PanTheMan… Just a guess, but I’d hazard that the download just being a key pretty much ties in with the tables automatically being downloaded in an update. I don’t know if you can try before you buy here, because I bought as soon as I could, but I know on the tablet version that you can, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the PS3 version is the same.

@Devs Love everything so far. Bit of an unusual request, I bet, but how about Revenge from Mars? Any chance?

  • Awesome, I love all the tables this game brings to the palm of my hand on Vita or on the big screen with my PS3. So well designed and I get to experience tables I would have never in real life. Can’t wait for more guys!

  • Any chance of making a table of Heavy Metal Meltdown and the KISS pinball? Keep up the good work. I hope you can add more trophies to the DLC next time around.

  • @PanTheMan: Like Blandlytasteful said, the key was to unlock the new content that was patched into it. They had some kind of issue with patching in the new tables on PS3, so you had to redownload the entire game, then update it. Obviously you don’t have the Vita version, or you would have known that the PSV downloads were 104MB for the four new tables. So, they definitely were not there in the initial release.
This is one of the biggest problems with the current generation. They assume the worst without any proof, spreading misinformation. It doesn’t help anyone to accuse Farsight of shady tactics which they are quite obviously not employing.

On-topic: I love TPA. I’ve bought DLC Packs 1+2, but after I finished all the Wizard goals on Bride of Pin-Bot, and saw you guys say on your FB page that you’d add in new trophies with the August title update, I’m holding off on playing it anymore until you’ve got that situation straightened out. Hopefully it can read my save data for that table and unlock those trophies, as I’d prefer to not have to delete my data and start over. :(

  • I’m loving this game myself, any chance of the KISS pinball table or the Attack From Mars tables getting released?

  • Ohhhh my god. Creature From the Black Lagoon.

I didn’t even know this game existed, and now I hear that there’s a Creature DLC coming out? Amazing pinball machine. “MOVE YOUR CAR!”

If you’re ever in Key West, head into the Green Parrot where you can play the actual table.

I’ll definitely be buying the game and expansion and will cross my fingers for Addam’s Family.

  • Loving the game on the vita and the PS3, awesome recreations. This is pretty much the only game I play on my vita now, keep em coming. Was wondering if world cup soccer 94 and Earthshaker were a possible candidate. I know Earthshaker isn’t a popular table, but I used to play the hell out of it at the pool hall back when I was in high school.

  • Would love to play this game but it’s still not on the EU store. People are very angry and want an explanation!

  • Looks like i’m gonna have to buy this one.. was planning on it, just hadn’t yet.. the demo felt a little off when i hit the button for the flippers, didnt seem to be spot on in the game.. that’s something that’s very key to pinball…

anyway, i’d love to see the Indiana Jones and Star Wars tables… those were my favorite ones back in the day… oh, and Terminator… if i could afford buying actual tables, those would be on the top of my list…

keep up the great work guys….

  • PrimeroIncognito

The Pinball Arcade is amazing. I’m seriously impressed by how authentic the tables look, sound, and play. The ball physics are closer to the real thing than any other pinball video game has ever been. I love all 8 tables so far and definitely looking forward to 4 more! And many more after that!

About the trophies, honestly, I usually do enjoy earning them, but when it comes to to pinball they don’t really matter. Pinball is all about high scores to me. So, not everyone is upset about the lack of trophies on the last 2 DLC packs, and I really don’t care if any future DLC packs have them or not. I’ll buy them anyway. :)

  • PrimeroIncognito

The only 2 questions I have are:

    1. Is “Cyclone” slated to be released as part of this collection in the near future? It’s my personal all-time favorite! (please please please….)

    2. Are console specific leaderboards possible? The PS3 and mobile versions should have separate leaderboard since they are different versions, right? I don’t understand why mobile scores appear on the PS3 leaderboard since each version probably plays a little differently and it’s an entirely different experience using a handheld device versus a console hooked up to a big screen. If each system could have it’s own leaderboard, that would be nice.

Keep up the GREAT work, FarSight.

  • i got a email on this week store update it said brave the vedio game is free for plus i went to the store it says 59.99 to buy whats up with that

  • I have been playing Pinball Arcade nearly nonstop. You guys have made a FANTASTIC tribute to the silver ball. Thank you for adding trophies going forward and I hope you find a way to add trophies for DLC packs 1 & 2. I LOVE your upcoming tables and can’t wait to see which tables you release with DLC 5! I bought the game and each DLC pack on their respective release dates. That won’t change going forward. Thank you for being awesome.

Where can we contribute to the Twilight Zone fund (and future table fundraisers as well)?

  • Question: Do you have a tentative date for tournaments and challenges to begin?

  • GREAT WORK On The PinBall Arcade! I Play It Like A FREAK! I Got All The Tables So Far… And I Have Been Obsessed With Completeing The Standard Goals Of THE BLACK HOLE Table! So… If I Could Make A Suggestion For A Future PinBall Arcade Table… How About THE GETAWAY: HIGH SPEED II? I Remember Spending My Money On THAT Machine Way Back In The 90’s….Ohhh… Hearing ZZ TOP While Playing A Great Game Of PinBall Never Got Old.

  • Mr. King,

This is X-menfan. I am honored to talk to one of the main designers for The Pinball Arcade! I have a question that I have been meaning to ask you: I know Crave has 4 licenses for TPA, but, can you get 1 last license for us pinball players? The company is Data East. They made famous tables like Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, and more. They lasted until 1994. I think that Data East really defined the definition of 90’s pinball. Also, have you any plans for adding Rat Race? By the way, I nickname myself in pinball “The Pinball Guru”; not because I’m a true wizard, but I know a lot about pinball. Thank you, Mr. King for taking the time to read my comment. Keep on making great Pinball games!

  • Grrrrr, the game is so good, however when I purchased it I was under the impression that new tables would be released monthly as updates not packs that I had to purchase…

  • X-menfan, the pinball tables released by Data East are now owned by Stern, which FarSight Studios has a license to release :D

  • Quaily, you thought for the $10 you spent on the PSN version of the game that you’d get monthly updates for free?!? Wow.

  • Both the Simpsons Pinball Party and Lord of the RIngs would be great! Also Cactus Canyon and Capsom’s Big Bang Bar would be awesome….keep up the great work!

  • To be really authentic we need access to the cion operator’s menu for adjustments and such…check out vpforums.org for people who in their spare time have recreated every pinball there is! :)
