June proved to be another great month for PlayStation gamers seeking out the latest in downloadable gaming.

Our congrats go to Wizards of the Coast’s Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 for taking the top spot in June! Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 features amazing artwork and intuitive yet deep tactical competition, so it’s no surprise that fans summoned this download more than any other in June.

On the PS Vita side, the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection proved that, after 25 years, Snake’s still got it. PSN users downloaded this portable collection in droves in order to re-live two of Snake’s finest missions, Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3, with high-res visuals, extra content, and transfarring.

There’s more, too. Legend of Dragoon continued to reign over PSone Classics, Need for Speed: Most Wanted conquered the PS2 charts, and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite took top honors in PSP. Have any predictions for next month’s list? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

    I can’t imagine there are that many people who still don’t own Journey. It’s good to see Table Top Tanks and Pulzar in rhe top 10 Vita titles, those are pretty neat titles for the price.

      Well while the most core gamers have likely played, there’s always a TON more casual gamers that may be waiting in the wings. Even some of my good friends who own PS3s haven’t gotten around to playing it, but word of mouth can be a powerful thing for sales and give a title very long legs as seen here with Journey.

    @2 – There can ALWAYS be more people who need to get Journey. Heck, after watching Extra Credits’ “The Hero’s Journey” videos about it, I’m just more impressed with thatgamecompany. Even if it’s entirely coincidental, that they were able to construct something that could be analyzed that way really speaks to their craftsmanship.

    Otherwise, The Walking Dead’s been really good for TellTale (maybe I should pick it up for my folks), Castle Crashers is STILL bringing people in (go get that Pink Knight DLC, folks!), good to see Gravity Rush still holding (just booted up some VVVVVVs yesterday), Legend of Dragoon’s really picking up on its crier’s desires, Tomba!’s keeping the platformin’ around, likin’ P3FES up there (there are some compromises between it and P3P; hopefully P4G is a straight-up upgrade), WE LIKE MEGA MAN, CAPCOM, and FFT and DDFF are still gettin’ attention.

    @commentspammer – PSOne classics on Vita are coming, begging and spamming for it won’t help it get here any faster and it just aggravates everything :/
    Regardless, will love to see the Vita get some serious love soon–want to pick up that assassin’s creed bundle in a few months, but having a hard time reasoning it so far :/ Moar vita supportz pls :p

    Anyhow, lil over a month I’ll have Journey (and Flower&Flow again, wwwyki). Can’t wait:)

      to your point; we wouldn’t announce ps one classics to vita at E3 if we weren’t serious about it. It may take a bit more time, but I believe the timeframe was given as this summer; of which we are smack dab in the middle of

    Sony- You know what helps sales?

    Demos!

    You’ve really dropped the ball this year when it comes to offering free demos. I’d like to know why.

    Games that are put on the other console are required to release demos. I understand Sony is a little more lenient in that regard, but if the dev/pub team makes one, why on earth not utilize it?

    I’ve really wanted to try out at least 5-6 games in the last few weeks, but because there is no way for me to try it out -other than looking at youtube vids- because I dont own ‘the other console’, I’ve skipped on purchasing until something like a 50% sale comes up.

    That’s $50-$70 potential dollars you could’ve earned, just by putting up demos that have already been created.
    WHY!?

      Demos are becoming more and more prevalent and our teams are working with devs to ensure most games have demos. From what I understand, It is an optional item for the developer to include; so they may value time to get the game out, as opposed to delivering a demo. Just my perspective, but our teams are always working to get more demos up on the Store.

    This week on the EU PSN Store players recieved –

    Rainbow Moon demo/trial
    Frogger Hyper Arcade trial.

    These games are SET UP as a TRIAL/UNLOCK, so why no demo/trial to begin with?

    Mind boggling!! Hope you are reading this. It’s your money.

    @AsiaQatar, just because the EU store has something does not mean SCEA has license to provide it here. But I do agree that demos are a good thing; whatever the reason for the lack of demos, Sony needs to do what they can to make them available here.

    If they’re able to sell the game in both territories, they have the license.
    Take the 2 games I mentioned for example.
    They are both available in multiple PSN Stores, and the games are both configured to a “trial and unlock key” system.
    The way its SUPPOSED TO BE is the trial is free and you pay for the unlock key (which then grants you the actual game)

    So why does Sony US not offer the free trial until you buy the game?

    Btw turns out I was incorrect about the EU Store finally offering the Rainbow Moon trial btw, bad info from the EU Blog.
    The only way to access the free Rainbow Moon trial is to buy the game.

    THE ONLY WAY TO ACCESS THE FREE RAINBOW MOON TRIAL IS TO BUY THE GAME.

    Sony- Read that back to yourself and decide if that makes any sense.

    @32 unless you have read the contracts they have for every game from every publisher then you can’t know that. Just because they have a license to sell it doesn’t mean they have a license to give it away for free sans the unlock key(ie. the demo). They can’t just do whatever they want; it depends completely on their contracts.

    You make a valid point, probably by accident. What ticks the rest of us off is not that complainers make the same complaints every day, every blog post. It’s the extreme, false Internet-tough-guy rudeness. None of you would have the cajones to talk like some of you do in person, so don’t use your anonymity to be such total jerks.     Morgan, I would agree with @17 as far as demos go. On that “other” HD console, there are trials (or demos) for pretty much EVERY game that you can purchase on their store.

    Also, a major improvement would be to have screenshot or video previews for ALL content on the PS Store, not just for paid content. An example would be if I go to look at the demo for Journey, I have NO Preview link. When I go to the paid one as if I’m going to purchase it, there’s usually a Preview link where I can see 4 or 5 screenshots or a video/trailer. And even with some paid content there are NO previews which is unacceptable. I know most of us could quickly check out some screenshots on our smartphones, tablets or laptops, but still it’d be convenient to have them on the PS Store for ALL titles.

    The “other” HD console’s store does a better job of linking ALL related content for that particular title together (demo, full game, screenshots, gamer pics, avatar items, wallpapers, themes etc) and they have a nice option called “See Full Game” on some of the demos to connect you to more info, screens etc.

    Can anyone tell me if the NeoGeo Station is dead for PSN? I could never find any hard facts regarding its status. Did it have poor sales and has it just been dropped by SNK or Sony? It has been forever since there was an update for it. I was hoping there might be some more old school SNK fans out there that want to rebuild their NeoGeo collection on their PS3.

    Hey Morgan any news on the Metal gear solid HD collection PS3 coming to the store? i never got to play a MGS game so now with the HD version it would be perfect and it would be nice to play the HD collection before i play MGS 4 with trophy support in august.

    @17 Actually it probably doesn’t help them… specially if it isn’t a good portion of the game or if it is the only good part. It does help us a bit, but how can you be sure whether or not that slice of the game is its peak and the rest isn’t very good? That’s why I rely on game reviews unless I trust the developer and will take a bet on them to deliver regardless of what a reviewer may say.

    Comment Spammer, You’re what’s wrong with gaming. Anyways, METAL GEAR 4 trophy patch coming soon! finally! Happy to see Magic 2013 on top but wizards of the coast better NOT turn Magic into the Call of Duty of CCGs with yearly releases with minimal upgrades. I hope they let us build our own decks or allow us to play with every deck released from all previous Magic games now available…otherwise, NO Magic 2014 for me.

    i feel u and yes games r a passion of mine i been gaming since i knew how to hold a game stick and psones made it worth wild for me james bond now thats a shootin game i have every games system ever made and my dad made sure of that til he passed aways some years back just cant afford these new games like that I have two games and the rest r downloads from back in the day and most of them dont work on here which is why i complain so much on here i miss my psp should have never gave it up for trade should hve jus kept it
