  • Since the release of Vita I have read a lot of comments where people have expressed their dissapontment at the lack of Vita titles. I have been patient thinking hoping soon Vita owners like myself would get a steady stream of releases. I have to be honest my patience has run out, where are the Vita games I’m get sick of the dribbles here and there. Also come on already with remote play, that was a huge reason I purchased the Vita. Why advertise something that wasn’t going to be available when the system was released. Get it together Sony, at this point my Vita has become a high priced paper weight. At least release Jet Set Radio Hd, at this point I’m excited for smart glass on the Xbox so I can at least have remote play on a gaming system. U guys can only blow smoke up our butts for so long before people get fed up.

  • Got to say that I LOVE PS PLUS even more now than i did before. What i dont get is all the complaints, especially with the NEW game rollout…it is working just as promised at E3..2 games rotating in and out EACH MONTH!!! Why do people not get that, and why complain about not getting an update every 2 weeks? that was never promised. Plus was a value before, now its a friggin steal. By the way, i havent even finished the games from the post E3 update to even be worrying about more free gamess just yet. With playstation plus we are getting more than you could EVER think of getting from the ahem** other system….be happy with all the free goodness we have already received, and the fact that you own the greatest system ever make!!! LONG LIVE PLAY

    • glad you’re loving it! i’ve found myself newly addicted to PacMan DX, and going to be using it to finally get around to playing Just Cause 2 and Renegade Ops.

  • its alittle off the topic but do you know when Sine Mora will be available ?

  • Its funny, i see people commenting saying that they aren’t happy with how fast an update comes for something they want, or how vita isn’t up to date and etc. Look people, you aren’t programmers, you aren’t developers, so stop complaining. Sure we all wish things would happen faster, but its not like a 5 minute job maybe once you learn how hard programming is you’ll get it. Me personally i know very little on the subject only what ive read. So please stop b*tching and be patient.

  • This update is trash. We are half way through the month of July and I have yet to see any free PS3 retail games added to Plus. All we gotten this month is 3 PSN games and a couple of discounts. Very weak!

  • @Morgan Thanks for the update! As you may remember, I was a little bit on the fence about the changes to PS+, but I was very willing to wait and see and judge it objectively. If it is consistently similar to this month, then I am very satisfied. A few good games at the beginning of the month, including sometimes a AAA game, and later in the month we get good discounts and the occasional free PS1 classic and maybe even some minis. That is truly and objectively an upgrade over the old PS+. Thank you for your work.

I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to remind everyone that the PSP can play ps1 classics but the Vita can’t though…

    • yeah, but there are gamers out there who really want PSP content for Plus too, so I figured I could make that clear. As for highlighting that PS one Classics aren’t available on PS Vita yet, I don’t think anyone needs a reminder that they’re not there, you guys already know ;) i’m waiting for them too, but everything is coming in due time for sure

  • Sounds great to me, I think PS+ is worth every penny. Would love to hear some more updates about battle royale, still crossing my fingers for Tomba to make an appearance, Tomba could easily become one of the faces of the PlayStation in my opinion.

  • Do any of the 2012 PSN play titles have platinum Trophys?

  • Hey Morgan, it would be great if you could get the PS Store team to rethink the Free Games section of the PS+ part of the store since there are a few redundancies and certain things are hidden more deeply than usual.

You guys already list the 12 main games being offered up front when you enter the PS+ section of the store, so the Free Games area listing them again with the same 3 month and 1 year sub options is a bit redundant since people have already passed those same games just to get to that point. It seems like you could take the “Other Freebies” section, which includes the free Minis, Themes, and Avatars, and move that up to the front page of the PS+ section in place of the “Free Games” spot.

I know the team seems to regularly rework various parts of the PS+ section every few months, but this seems like an oversight with the current design that would work perfectly if the redundancy is addressed.

    • well we really wanted to make sure people found those free games as soon as they came into the Plus section; but we’ll be playing around with several ways to organize content to see what works best for Plus members. And it’s usually based off of looking at the numbers to see how many Plus members downloaded what pieces of free content based on how they’re merchandised in the Store.

so thanks for your feedback, i can certainly pass it along

  • Will August have a free full game?

  • Off topic: Is ultimate marvel vs capcom 3 going to be released on the ps store???

  • Thanks for the PSP love!

  • @Morgan “Actually, in the last Plus update, I mentioned that there weren’t any additional free games coming in July; but we were able to secure two bonus freebies as well as Day 1 discounts on anticipated new releases”

Excuse me?!!! what two bonus freebies? I hope you’re not referring to those 2 ps1 games… on second thought, I hope you are; for this would mean that we will be getting 3 ps1 games, considering we haven’t received originally promised content.

To eliminate much of the confusion, you guys need to CLEARLY not only define, but DISTINGUISH said plus content (Not just as a response to this comment but as its own separate blog post).

To my knowledge (based off what’s been OFFICIALLY said), we’re supposed to get the original plus content [1 psn game, 1 psOne game, 2 mini’s, dlc, themes, avatars, discounts and early beta access] plus the newly added “igc” content [ 3 psn games (ps3, “psn”, …)]

    • yep, 2 free ps one classics is what I was referring to.

But I agree that it would be good to define the exact type of content to expect every month, but the honest truth is that we’re constantly working with developers and publishers to get great content in Plus all the time. Sometimes that’s going to be a PS3 Full game. Sometimes it’s going to be a PSN game. Other times a Day 1 free game; or a PS one classic.

but as far as the older description of the original plus content (2 years old ;) ) please adjust expectations there as we’ve rolled out a new philosophy on it. But I’ll be working with the teams to ensure as much clarity as possible can be achieved.

  • So is this just a few glimpses of some of the PLus stuff for the next few weeks?

Or is this all Plus is getting period?

IF that’s it, this is the worst plus update ever. I’ve been a member since the start so I’d know.

The instant games collection was a great EXTRA for plus, but every since that came out, the normal plus bonuses that we’re supposed to get have all but dissapeard.

Instant Game Collection seemed like a reason to never stop being a Plus member, but what happened to everything else we’re supposed to get? Good discounts? Avatars/themes? Minis? Vita sales like other countries get? etc…

First you took away Qore (literally half the reason I had plus). Now you’re slowing taking everything else???

Enough of the free games rotation stuff, RETURN PLUS TO WHAT IT WAS PLEAS!!!

    • next few weeks is what this covers. And Plus continues to be what it was; except now there’s a ton of additional games that will always be in the collection. Qore went away because, well Qore went away. it wasn’t a thing where because Plus came along , Qore stopped type of thing. The programming was just determined to see a sunset is all.

Plus was always a rotation of free games, right? New stuff came and went all the time, but there was never a stable of games to play.

  • Hey Morgan, is there any chance of Rayman Origins going on sale on PS3 & Vita? Amazon and Steam are selling it for $20 now. Even the Vita version is below $30 on Amazon now. I’d love to buy the digital version, but not with that huge price discrepancy!

  • @YouFromTheFuture

You must’ve misread the big E3 PS+ announcement, as Instant Game Collection is the new content direction for PS+. They’re not limiting themselves to a set amount of certain types of content anymore.

  • Wait they announced at E3 that they’ve changed the Plus content but they never bothered to tell the people who’ve been paying for Plus?

Mentioning at E3 or posting it here doesn’t help. If you’re going to completely change a paid subscription service, you better have the common sense/decency to directly contact your members to tell them they don’t get what they paid for anymore.

    • well, we definitely blew out the marketing channels to get this messaging to people, and we did also email all Plus members as well, but only to those that are opted in for marketing communications. Since this wasn’t a service level change, and more of a advertisement for Plus, we couldn’t legally email every Plus member; only those who are opted in.

I do hope you continue to check out Plus, and hope that you see some good value to the membership outside of Qore. Check it out, and definitely leave your feedback on the content everytime we update.

  • Good discounts and 2 ps1 free games, I like plus with Gotham City Impostors, Pac Man DX Championship Edition, and Renegade Ops that we received free earlier this month, always great discounts, I have been happy with the discounts and free games that we received every month was great, im happy with say 4 free games a month, plus the great discounts, always enough to keep me busy, I have been happy with playstation plus since day 1, and I will always continue to renew it because I get my $50 worth out of it, and I will renew it every year and always keep it, even though everyone can’t be pleased this ps plus member is pleased.

  • I may buy Papo, Sound Shapes, and CS but still up in the air on them. I’m kind of tired of buying games and then getting them free with Plus. Out of the last 15 games we got from Plus I already owned 12 of them. I may just stop buying games and just pay for Plus every year.

The PSOne games are a let down this time. Don’t care for sports games so not my bag. Oh well, hopefully the next month plus games will be stuff I don’t already own.

  • Just to mention in case people already forgot.

A QORE subscription was about half the price of PLUS. So Plus, including QORE, half of our money basically went to keeping QORE alive/getting QORE membership.

You took away QORE and added NOTHING.

So now we’re paying the same price in order to get significantly less. Especially with the smaller and less interesting plus updates that have happened since the 12 Free games thing.

So first QORE taken away, no price difference just less for our money. And now this…

    Wow….

  • So PS+ members get 50% off SELECT PS1 SPORTS games? That’s really terrible.

Seriously. As someone who has NO interest in sports games AT ALL these promotions are horrid. Why not discount ALL PSP games? It’s a digital platform for crying out loud! It’s not like you’d be losing money! You’d actually be gaining it!

Still no Vita games AND there’s no word on when the PS1 support is coming to Vita!

Hell at this point why aren’t you guys discounting Vita games in order to spark interest in the device?

I want this device I’ve bought to succeed. Why is Sony so hell bent on not allowing me to enjoy my product.

  • when will the deus ex ps2 port make its way on the psn store for the usa the uk has it come on sony

  • Morgan, because he never went a full PSP game for free on PSN Plus? for example one or other of the Final Fantasy game for Sony, has many games that could be given and would not cost too expensive. Another thing I liked most when you leave the list at the beginning of months of free content and was given a game a week, there was more fun to wait, so we won it all in a day and then do not come any more XD

  • This was a pretty weak month for Plus, only 3 PSN games (was expecting at least one PS3 game), and 2 PSO games. I like the older Plus better.

  • @ 20, froxfx- try connecting your Vita directly to your PS3 via the charging/transfer cable. I haven’t bought a Mini in a while & being a + member, most of the Minis I’ve downloaded to my PS3 (Important! Do NOT install them.) are free. Turn on your PS3, plug in your Vita & access the Content Transfer App, select PS3 to Vita, & then “Copy All.”

    Many of my Minis worked!

@ 31, Monterossa- not much news on the Japanese front, I’m guessing by TGS we’ll see some cool announcements.

@ 45, MaverickSEY, great idea! Sometimes I can’t make it to my PS3 in time to purchase content. Would be nice if the stores would merge for the PS//VIta.

  • Morgan, just wanted to say I really admire the way you stay so upbeat and positive in the face of some truly idiotic, selfish and pointless posts. Keep up the good work, sir.

    • That means a lot thanks! Everyone has the right to speak their mind; and there’s usually truth to what everyone has to say. I look at it as an expression of passion for PlayStation is all. While it’s tough to be everything to everyone, I’ll always try to look for ways to get what everyone is looking for with Plus and PSN in general.

  • @Morgan Haro
“August discounts for PSN PLAY are slated and those are 4 crazy good games for PSN. (Papo, Soundshapes, CounterStrike.)”
Much like last years PSN PLAY games, I have not the slightest interest in any of those from this years selection. :(

“But we’ll have more news for August as we get closer.”
June & July were a bust so third times the charm!

  • @Morgan Haro that’s easy, cheaper games and better sales. It’s a digital platform you have direct control over prices with no competition!

  • See my name? Good. Where is it, and why isn’t it on PSN yet? Get it done.

Anyway… as one of the usual “entitled whining complainers” on this blog. It’s great to see free PS1 games added back into PSN+ (Even if they arn’t something I’m interested in, still happy to see them again) . Also nice to finally see Malicious on the US-PSN store, no idea why it took so long… but I guess these things happen.

    Good stuff.

  • What are you guys complaining about?

This is a gaming industry things change as always, games get delayed, updates com along etc….

Morgan may say something is coming out next week, next month or for the next update but hek! Changes happen as the days go by…

Appreciate what they are giving out for FREE.

On my behalf I appreciate all you have done MORGAN thanks for your input and your hard work and putting up with people complain!!

    Cheers!

  • Morgan.

Thank you for replying to an obviously upset customer.

Although the Why didnt something replace QORE/Membership become cheaper issue was never addressed.

I did enjoy the Instant Game Collection when it came out but ever since, every plus update has been smaller than they used to be. So between that and QORE being taken away, we are without a doubt, getting less for our money than we use to.

So now that everything has apparently changed, is there a website to go to that lists what Plus use to offer exactly what it is that we will now be getting? I’d very much like to see something like that before I renew again.

  • @75 I agree in my opinion, there is nothing at all to complain about, can’t go wrong with free items and discounts and even with the vita, great things are coming.

  • One last quick comment and sorry if this ends up as a double post.

Plus members get NOTHING FOR FREE!!!!

    We PAY for our membership.

So to people who’s only arguement is “shut up you’re getting free stuff”

Well no… we aren’t. We’re paying to get things for less.

  • Looking forward to Counter-strike Goblal assault and malicious. How about adding 3D/Move support and trophy patch these titles and have then included on ps+ first. Siren:Blood curse, Folklore and of course Hot Golf Out of bounds… Or at least consider increasing the PS3 activation to 3 systems on ps+ subscribers. Hint hint hiiiiint.

  • Morgan, I appreciate you commenting and doing your best to explain yourself. I don’t have a complaint about you specifically, but rather SCEA. Playstation Plus is an amazing service. The Vita is an amazing handheld that has been out for five months. Why is Playstation Plus not on it? There are games, some from Sony themselves, that can be discounted, some PSN games that can be “free” like on PS3, etc. I guess I’m just having a tough time understanding SCEA’s position on the lack of attention towards Vita. I know it’s not doing well sales-wise, but ignoring the platform is only making that worse. I don’t understand why there aren’t more PSN games coming out for it, when it’s quite literally the perfect platform to have PSN titles for; there’s touchscreen plus buttons, plus two analog sticks and the ability to take it anywhere. Sound shapes is coming next month. This, however, ignores the fact that there’s about two months without any PSN games released (the last being a two dollar AR game that’s quite lacking in content).

Where’s the PSN games? Where is Playstation Plus? I understand not having them in February; maybe March. But it’s been five months and it’s still not a word.

  • Looking forward to Counter-strike Goblal assault and malicious. How about adding 3D/Move support and trophy patch these titles and have then included on ps+ first. • I swear Morgan I want to buy a vita and keep one for once but every week that goes by and all the support it doesn’t get just makes me mad and makes me want to steer clear from the device all together and just go back to walmart and buy a psp to play all the psp games I have that will NOT work on that new vita that should have been able to play them along with ps one games on day one. This is ridiculous that its now going on August of 2012 and over 70% of the psn psp games will not work on vita and no ps one games at all work on vita even still. All we ever hear from your company is coming soon. I swear I have nightmares of a huge sony logo stalking me in the middle of the night yelling coming soon in a freddy voice I mean get your stuff together already or I may have look else where for my gaming needs. I love ps3 and love gaming with sony but these lies and delays and broken promises isn’t giving you the reputation you should have. Get in gear already. We don’t have another 100 years to our life to wait on coming soons. Its pathetic by now I mean come on already you know!

  • Not much here I look forward to. Except the fact the PSone games are back, but the ones here aren’t that exciting. Any reason you could give us Tomb Raider 1 for free one week, I know it was free before, but I never got it. Or lower the price. $10 when the sequels are $6 seems weird. Would make more sense if The Last Revelation was $10. A lot of people in the PSone era never played that one, considering it wasn’t in the 3-game platinum collection back then. I didn’t like how short the summer sale was. But at least I got something good out of it. If it’s a SUMMER sale it should last more than just a week, maybe it should have been 4th of July sale?

  • Correction I meant @76 + D3m0n__89 – Need a edit option here

  • I must be delirious, i getting numbers mixed up lol or they are changing

  • This is TOTALLY UBER CRAP!!!! Whatever happened to the 50/30% discounts for PS+/PSN users? This 20% discount POS BS is totally NOT worth my money and appreciation toward the jews at sony.

I think i’ll go buy a 360 and stick to those douchebags rather than wait for you Sony douchebags to actually listen to your customers and continue to provide us with 50/30% discounts.

What about Vita? Do your vita customers exist at all in your fat heads? Get with the damn program!

  • playstation.com/psnplay2012 (from the video) does not work. I am trying to figure out more info on this, in particular what sets this apart from 4 games just being on sale? What is the correct link I should be going to for more info?

    • some of the clickable links in this post should take you straight to the website in question if that URL isn’t quite working

  • free stuff is always welcome, no matter how good or bad. I still think the best titles given since e3 was just cause 2 and little big planet 2. Infamous just wasn’t as fun as I thought….. this month the free stuff hasn’t been amazing but at least we got something.

I think the rebate when buying the arcade games should be more.

I bet the “action packed beta for PSN+ members” is Dust 514. which I am already in, and I welcome to kill all of you many times.

  • Sweet I love hot shots Golf!!!! If people dont like the what psn is doing go buy a X-box, Thanks playstation you rule!!!

  • Just to throw in my 2 cents about the deals.

I’d rather see 50% off slightly older titles that haven’t a good sale yet (like I Am Alive, Elevator Action, HotD 4, Scarygirl, Slam Bolt Scrappers, like you did with the Summer Sale) than 20% off day 1 discounts. I remember getting 50% (or more) off games like 4 Elements HD, Mercury Hg, Explodemon, Hamilton’s Great Adventure, etc. just a few months after their release, and really enjoyed it.

So for example this month, I’d rather see 50% off Slam bolt Scrappers and Scarygirl rather than 20% off Dyad and Malicious. Like I said, just my 2 cents though.

    Thanks!

  • @ 78, megamixer, that’s too bad. PSN PLAY revolves around a selection of Summer releases- either Sony exclusive titles or 3rd party content. Obviously this exludes older releases as the “Play” promotion has a pre-order option. IMO, this season’s PSN Play selection def. beats last year’s. If any FPS can pull me away from Payday it’s Valve’s CS:GO!

Fingers crossed on seeing the Zen Pinball update for the Vita this week

  • EDIT to my last comment, #95. I didn’t see this line in “The Games” section of the update:

“In addition, the sale will feature 50% discounts on select titles for Plus members too.”

So thanks, and please disregard my last comment. Keep up the great work! :-)

  • Morgan why isn´t metal gear solid HD on psn store? camon sony!

  • As someone higher up said: “This month seems to be on par with the older store updates”.

Indeed, and to clarify that ‘on par with older store updates’ to me really is synonymous with ‘not worth paying the subscription fee’. The older store updates never where enough for me to tempt me to subscribing PS+. I subscribed because the June ‘instant game collection’ seemed worth it.

If upcoming monthly updates are slowly going to errode this collection, I won’t be renewing.

As discounted games go, buying trade-in games, the prices are often on-par or better than PS+ discounts and you actually get a physical disk rather than something locked to a specific PSN account.

  • @ liledawg: That’s why I’ve said on here before, it’s better to quote at “people” rather than numbers. Moderated posts change the numbers when they get approved, so you never know what’s going to happen with the post order.

@ PS+ Update: Wow. This is a great month for me. I’ll be getting every single one of these games except for CS:GO, so the discounts are very welcome. July/August is going to be great, especially if we continue to get new free games rotated into + in August on top of the PLAY discounts. Can’t wait! :D
