  • @49 Polo

Thanks for the info, though I’m already well aware that pretty much any digital PSP game can be put on Vita through PS3 even if it’s not on the official compatability list. All my digital PSP and PS1 games are just waiting on my PS3 HDD uninstalled waiting for me to buy a Vita.

Speaking of that, do you have personal experience with Gran Turismo PSP on Vita? Does the “graphical upgrade tech” on the Vita make a huge dif from playing it on PSP?

The only big issue for me is that it doesn’t read the digital comics or have access to the digital comic store. I know it seems small, not many people were into the digital comics, obviously since Sony stopped adding new ones. But I loved them and have spent close to $100 on digital comics alone. And not only the principal of it being digital content I own, but it would also look INCREDIBLE on the Vita, so it’s something I need in the product as a digital consumer.

  • Anyways I have a question for Morgan?

I’m on the ball park on buying a vita and keeping it this time but as I do my research on the life cycle of OLED screens and I keeps seeing 2000 hours and then other sites say that sony isn’t making the screens no more they will be going crystal LED displays from now on and that they aren’t doing OLED anymore cause they tend to go bad within a YEAR I am worried to invest in that handheld and 12 months down the road I go to turn it on and nothing happens will be my worry and 300 bucks down the drain. What kind of OLED is in the vita. The blue, green or red? Each time has a 12 month life cycle and one has very long life cycles. Which color is the OLED display under? Then I can make my decision if I want to drop down another 300 for another vita today and a memory stick at walmart.

  • Finally I’ve bought Rayman Origins – drop to 20$ – sweet =)

  • Here are some numbers I found regarding PS+. Just putting it out there:

    July 2011 – 2 PSN games, 1 PS1 game, 3 Minis = 6 games
    August 2011 – 2 PSN games, 1 PS1 game, 3 Minis = 6 games
    September 2011 – 3 PSN games, 4 PS1 games, 2 Minis = 9 games
    October 2011 – 4 PSN games, 1 PS1 game, 5 Minis = 10 games
    November 2011 – 1 PSN game, 4 PS1 games, 5 Minis = 10 games
    December 2011 – 1 Retail game, 1 PSN game, 3 PS1 games, 3 Minis = 8 games
    January 2012 – 2 PSN games (1 Episodic Series), 3 PS1 games, 2 Minis = 7 games
    February 2012 – 1 Retail game, 13 PSN games, 1 PS1 game, 2 Minis = 17 games
    March 2012 – 1 Retail game, 1 PSN game, 1 PS1 game, 1 Mini = 4 games
    April 2012 – 1 Retail game, 2 PSN games, 1 PS1 game, 3 Mini = 7 games
    May 2012 – 3 PSN games, 2 PS1 games, 2 Minis = 7 games
    June 2012 – 6 Retail games, 6 PSN games, 1 Mini = 13 games
    July 2012 – 3 PSN games, 2 PS1 games = 5 games

Before the E3 announcements, we averaged 8.3 games per month. Of that
monthly allotment, we averaged 3.1 PSN games, 2 PS1 games, 2.8 Minis

Now since E3, we have recieved an avg of 9 games per month.
But because of the permanence of the IGC, it looks like these numbers will fall.

  • @102 — I’ll take fewer PSN/full retail games over more PS1 classics and minis any day of the week. Really happy to see this shift in Plus–and the reason I finally joined.

  • any word on when we will non-olympics theamed sales for the vita, because i am not a sports fan

  • No Dawnguard Again?? What A Surprise!

  • Also can you guys bring Dirt 2, Nascar 2011, GT5 and Dead island to psn cause I’m sick of waiting.

  • Thanks for the update!
I have a question: when will you have a discount,a price change or a sale on RE4HD for PLUS users or any other?
I know you had one before but i wanted to know if there are any chances you will do another one soon?
Thank you very much and keep up the great job, proud to be a PlayStation member since PS1! :)

  • Is their any NASCAR games in the works for vita and a vita exclusive gt5 game? I would break through the glass doors over spikes all the way back to electronics if so. I’m more a racing type of gamer and all these shooters and rpg’s and AR games on vita is not my cup of tea. I want good RACING games on that thing.

  • I greatly appreciate the sale and discounts happening more often. Any update on the PSone classics for vita? I have a ton of them and really want to play some of the JRPG’s that I missed as a kid on my Vita!

  • Morgan, do you know when we will have London 2012 in the US Store? I think Europe already has it…

  • A little bit off topic, but how are sales for DLC determined, do the game publishers decide to put something on sale or does the playstation network staff decide on that? I really want the Deus ex human revolution dlc, but $14.99 is a bit pricey imo.

  • There’s a mistake there:
Top Spin 4 (PS3 Full Game) (now $14.69, original price $29.99) appears as $14.69 as game sale without PS+ but on the store appears as discount only for PS+.
I wanted to buy it, since i only have $15.00 on my wallet.

  • WaveLightning777

Still waiting for those Sonic avatars…

  • @103 Satnamji-
TBQH so am I. I far enjoy PSN and Retail titles over PS1 and minis.

As I said I’m just putting that out there.

If the Plus program could give us 6 or 7 quality titles over the course of a month EVERY month, I’d be very happy.

I also agree with the above posters about racing games. Motortorm Apocolypse, Split/Second, NFS Hot Pursuit or even GT5 (my HDD is man enough to take it lol) would be welcome additions to PS+.

Multiplayer-only games like GC Impostors are a mistake as giveaways IMO.

  • I am wondering why so many games don’t have a demo available, but when you purchase it, you have to download the demo and unlock key. This happened for Dyad, as well as Frogger Hyper Arcade Edition, and many many other games.

I’m sure there are many games I might have bought if the demo was made available, but instead I thought, nah, I’ll just wait until they put out a demo or it goes on sale.

  • @luvtoseek I understand that PC/mobile are different markets and mirrored pricing was NOT what I was referring to. I was pointing out the method in which they run sales and pricing not the price itself. The only example that I think mirrored pricing applies to that I listed off was in looking at retail pricing such as amazon (In this example I was referring to retail PS3 copies)

  • When are we getting the vita update? Want PsOne Support Now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • GTA: Liberty City Stories for PSP is up on the store now, thanks Sony! I hope more GTA’s are on the way! I don’t get how you can charge 19.99 for a psp game though, but I’m happy it’s on there, and is compatible with the VITA. Now if GTA III and Vice City are ever compatible with VITA, I’M THERE!

  • @gm914 Another way of looking at your comparison:

    7/11 to 5/12: 4 PS3 games (11 months)
    6/12 to 7/12: 6 P3 games (2 months)
-In 2 months, we have already received 2 more PS3 games than the prior 11 months.

7/11 to 5/12: If you exclude the one month we received 13 games (Feb), the average decreases from 3.1 to 2.1
    6/12 to 7/12: 9 games in 2 months
    – It looks like we will continue to get 3 games added to the instant game collection each month, which would be consistent with the prior 11 months. Also, who is to say just because we got 3 games this month does not mean we won’t get more in other months. We have gotten 15 PS3/PSN games in 2 months, as we saw in the past year, some months will have more games than others.

This is just 2 months in, I would be willing to bet we get a few more PS3 games over the next 9 months. I really can’t see the complaints unless someone is a big fan of PS1 and mini’s. For those people it is reasonable because the focus has obviously shifted.

  • @Ecks I remember hearing that having a demo can decrease sales because people can tell for sure if they want to buy the game. I think they have the demos ready at launch but wait so that they don’t let that happen. This is concerning because it doesn’t allow people to make informed purchases. I noticed that Pure Chess has a demo ready, but you can only see it after you buy the game. This might also be due to the fact that Sony charges the companies to have a demo on the store, which is also why many of the demos disappear after a while.

  • @gm914 I agree about the PSN and retail titles, the other stuff is an acquired taste (but probably way cheaper to get). I hardly ever download PS1 or mini games. There are some exceptions though. I also agree with the multiplayer only games. I tried to play GCI but i could hardly ever get a get a game going, and I got kicked a lot during the games, despite having a good internet connection.

Oh well, I don’t think they’re being deliberately mean, some of it might be business or just things that they had to do. They seem like nice people to me at least. My Plus runs out at the end of the month, so I really hope the august games make me want to come back. I don’t think the PLAY promotion is enough for me to do so since i’m only getting two of the games.

  • Great to see some Vita games on sale even if they’re not my cup of tea.

Would love to see some price drops on other titles along with PSP support and PS1 support for Vita.

It’s a little much to buy Peace Walker digitally on PSP for $40 when it’s $20 in store or $14 used AND the PS3 MGS HD collection is only $30 and it comes with a proper HD remake of peace walker AND 2 other MGS games!

Are PSP games likely to be price dropped in the foreseeable future?

  • Hey Morgan,
When can we finaly get Jet set radio on ps vita?
    I really cant wait!

  • Ok, Morgan. I’m going to trust your recommendation and buy Dyad. You seem to know what you are talking about. =)

The game looks great. To be honest, I would be surprised if it turned out to be bad.

  • i have been waiting along time for mimana to go down…. now i can buy it and feel ok with the price. thank you sony lol. i just wish it was under 10 dollars but it will do lol

  • @116, Victoryismine52- you mean like how Steam has dev. bundles? I don’t know how often Steam commonly run discounted content but their Summer Sale is downright saving the PC gaming industry.

  • Love seeing the VITA sales. I see them in Retail Stores all the time, but don’t want to be swapping cards. Now I can take advantage of my 32GB card!!!!!

Unit 13 on sale soon? :)

    Loving my Vita!

  • Unfortunately, I prefer demos before plunking down $15 on a game I know little about (aside from the video earlier this week, I had never even heard of the game). Since the demo won’t be out for the sale, I will wait for another sale. Dyad looks interesting, but not the type of game I usually play. I’m willing to give it a shot, but no demo makes that impossible, so for now I must say no, regardless of the reviews.

Also, any clue on when we might be getting more themes for PS+. They were promised awhile ago, but there has been nothing in quite some time. I have been looking forward to these, because there have been some awesome themes (I love the ones with motion, like the Hitman theme with the smoking guns). Please, any word on when this might possibly happen?

  • I was just thinking. Boy I wish I could try record of august war 2. And then as I scroll down there is a Full game trial!!!! Thanks playstation. And then the first game is reduced price which is perfect if I like the second one after the trial.

  • Any word yet on WWE Wrestlefest…the video said it was out already

  • i just downloading The Escape Plan demo it still has a error didn’t you say playstation it was fixed. i guess you were lying :(

  • Hey Morgan

Is there any chance that we’ll hear more about the upcoming release of Jet Set Radio HD and Frobisher Says! for the PS Vita???

  • I am very Disappointed with Sony. Why cant you guys force the developers to add demos ? Is it not strange how on the 360 every game has a demo but here on the PS3 it doesn’t happen? And who had the smart idea to add a discount of 3 dollars off for only 1 week. And than the next week or possible future a demo might release. That is very bad. This is the reason I will continue to buy my Digital Games on my 360 instead of my PS3.

The only good thing out of today is I got into the LBP Kart Racing Beta but since its 3.5 GB I will not be able to play until tomorrow.

And Last I hope we get some themes and avatars for Plus members in the next 2 weeks since we haven’t seen anything the whole month of July.

  • about all that retail/psn or psclassics discussion.

I actually like PSone and minis.
First because there are some hidden gems minis (Wizorb looking at you. Release date?)
I’m oldschool gamer so I, sometimes, rather re-play classic games (Castlevania SOTN, Megaman 2, ComiXzone Grandia..) than some of brand-new games.
Not only that I have a bunch of young nephews that love WAY more oldschool games than modern ones – few execptions like Rayman Origins and Scotpilgrim. Maybe ‘cuz they have the oldschoolstyle in them….

So, though I LOVE all those great retail-games PS+ granted us, I’m afraid sony’ll stop (or greatly lower) the classics giveway.
In MY opnion, oldschool type of games are better (and should be encouraged on developers).

    Please Morgan, remember that.

    • it’s an interesting discussion for sure. when we were doing a lot of minis and ps one classics, there was a lot of feedback for less of those and more big games and PSN games. so i think there’s got to be some good balance for that. we’ll be fine tuning everything as we go along for sure, thanks for the feedback!

  • Where did
    Resistance Retribution
    Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow
    Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror

    go?

These PSP games used to be on the store for Vita.

  • Does Sony only make money off PS Plus or do they make on everything they sell on the ps store just wondering

  • Somewhat of an ok update, In all honesty i really think the Drop should showcase some sales/deal unless all of these deals were last minute. Because from the drop i would have thought this update would be the worst we had. But the sales/deal made up for it, although not by much.

All i can say is Dj Max sale is nice especially since Technika should be out soon (summer) i know i can wait for it, and i would have jumped on that price for portable 3, but sadly i already own it.

Other than that though nothing really of interest. i was looking forward to Dyad, but no demo equal no buy for me. i cant risk losing 15$ especially with Steam summer sale going on.

  • Question regarding PSP games on PS Vita.

I have had Liberty City Stories on my Vita since the day that I got it by transferring it from my ps3.
I am wondering if now that it is “officially” supported, was there an update to the actual game at all? Should I delete what I have on my Vita now and re-download it in order to get the update? If there was an update can we just update through the game screen icon? Or has it just been fully tested and found to work?
    Thanks.

  • Do you still need a credit card saved on Psn for Ps+?

  • I can’t speak for others, but I can certainly attest to demos significantly influencing my digital purchasing decisions.
Of the 40+ PSN games I have paid for (ie not PS+ giveaways) there are only a handful I have impulsively bought without first playing a demo. It takes a very rare gem, like Journey, for me to purchase sight unseen.
    Or unplayed, as it were.

The rest, 80% of my purchases, are the result of me deciding to buy after trying it out.
Quite often these are games I would never have considered if a demo had not been available.
    That’s a fact.

Yes I have tried demos and thought ‘Garbage’, but without the demo, that game’s not even on my radar anyway.
I’d like to see the Sony team go through all the PSN trial/unlock configured games where the actual free trial is not available (there are quite a few), and put them up on the Store.
Think how it could make a slow week amazing, by giving us all those trials to err, try.

I bet, BET, you see sales increases over the weeks previous.
    Peace.

  • Awesome! Thank you so much for the Vita love!! Much appreciated!

  • Are we gettin the Awesomenauts patch today? I hope its soon. Please release it sony.

  • Huummmm…. very good price on Top Spin 4… Deal……..

    See ya.

  • Hustle Kings sale for the Vita, which also means getting it on the PS3, right? Either way, I’m glad to see a sale for this game. Since getting Pure Chess for the Vita (even though I get trounced by friends), I’ve realized that VooFoo Studios makes some solid, beautiful games.
