  • To all those complaining about plus: Everyone has the right to an opinion, but before you call a game crappy, give it a try. I already own a lot of the free plus games, which sort of sucks, but plus gives you a chance to play games you may not have if you had to pay for them. Some of these are great games and hidden gems. You get your moneys worth day one when you sjgnbup for plus. Everything else is a bonus.
P.S. to Sony, please, please start supporting the Vita better. Don’t let this great system die. Get an app store ASAP!!!

  • @232, Morgan is paid to respond to us. With the way Morgan has been responding, it’s pretty obvious that they planning to release a big game for PS Plus’ers as soon as most of the subscription runs out so that they can profit more from re-subscribers. Most of the complaints are the same as they were weeks ago, there is no chance in hell that they didn’t know they would get this backlash. And to the people saying this is “free”, Most of the people on PS Plus paid for this and are now renting PSN games until the subscription runs out. Has anyone else besides me noticed how much Morgan is enjoying this. He sure loves those smilies. ;)

    • i do enjoy it! but i also use emoticons as sometimes, if you read a sentence without one, it can come off as very cold and not heart felt. so i like teh smilez.

  • i would like to know if we are ever gonna get some watchmen avatars i really want rorschach ,the comedian or night owl

  • I’m not a fan of the new additions. I know everything in PS+ isn’t going to be for me, but getting two 2-D side scrollers, with one of them replacing a game as huge as Just Cause 2 is disappointing, especially after having to wait half way into the month for content we should be getting at the beginning of the month.

Last month’s Renegade Ops, Gotham City, and Pacman (I think), was a great package. Lots of diversity there, even if it was all PSN stuff. No two games were alike.

I have no interest in Outland or Bloodrayne, but I wouldn’t care if I didn’t have interest in one, if I had interest in another. I would have liked to see something different. Like Stranger’s Wrath, or a racing game or something. Something clearly different from the other two games.

And for the 1,587th time, I’d like to see a bigger emphasis on DLC in PS+ and just in terms of sales. For example, all those Ultimate Edition sales a month or two ago. Why not DLC-only packs for those who already had the base game?

  • If the US content was the same of the EU PSN+, we wouldn’t be complaing here. Think about this Morgan.

  • i agree with maktail eu ps plus gets way better stuff then NA whats up with that ?

  • Once again the new PS Plus update sucks. All we get is two short PSN games this whole month. When my subscription expires next month I’m not renewing it unless there are some full free PS3 games added to the Instant Game Collection. The European Plus is much, much better. When we are told that great additions are coming to the IGC soon but then when they actually come and we discover that they suck, you can’t blame us for complaining.

  • Well, to break up all the boo hooing, I’m looking forward to this update. Always wanted to get Outland.

  • I have said this before and Ill say it again.

IF your a PS Plus member. My only advice to you is to NEVER buy a single thing in the PS Plus store.
Cause you know it will come your way either free or heavily discounted.

The way this format is showing us that you will either get 1-2 psn title thats old or new every month and maybe 1 full game every year or so. (I’m assuming)

So with that just enjoy some retail titles in the meantime and who knows some time down the line your game that you SO WANTED to get day 1 will be offered on this PS Plus thing.

  • It’s not that the EU store is getting better content, it’s just that every single update is with games i already have!! So am I just paying for PS+ just to be able to upload my game saves along with a couple discounts here and there? Not worth the money.. absolutely disgusting!! I’m definitely not renewing if this keeps up. Here’s an idea, how about you put out the options of about 4 new games(random figure thrown out) and give us the choice of downloading any two for free, like when online services resumed after the whole hacking extravaganza. That way the possibility exists that people can actually get something they didn’t already own.

  • Huh. Well, for once I’m not sad to see a title I already bought pop up on Plus. (I’ve been lucky — outland’s the first I’ve seen in a long time)

I nabbed outland a few months ago when it went on sale. It was a great little platformer. I was only sad I couldn’t find anybody to play the co-op mode with. It was a lot of fun, and I played it all the way through. Well, maybe I’ll have my chance at co-op now!

Bloodrayne? I like how it’s like Castlevania, but It sure looks gory even for a Teen rating. I’m already not downloading TWD because it’s an M. I don’t like it when they’re all or mostly violent or m-rated. I’m not complaining much here, though. I have loved the offerings over the past few months (pacman, renegade ops, hardcorps uprising, and others)

    Keep up the good work.

  • just one update….
would i like to see you kids not act like entitled, spoiled brats on the rag.

  • Well, I personally like these choices. I already have Outland. Awesome game, must play for any fan of action games.

And Bloodrayne? Oh man, I almost bought that game a couple of times in the past. I really want to check it out. I think it’s worth $15 on the store? That’s great. That game by itself justifies my investment of about $4.17 for this month of PS+.

Add to that the $3 I saved on Soundshapes last week and I’ve gotten $18 back from my $4.17 this month. And we’re just about halfway through August.

PS+ has been awesome for me. I used to pay about $60 a year just to be able to play online. Man, that was ridiculous, now that I think about it.

  • I see a lot of people complaining about how plus always offers games they already own. People are ranting about how you’d have to be the type who never buys titles when they first come out to benefit when you get them for free 6-12 months later. And, only some or few titles interest anyway.

Well, I’m not ranting. That’s my model, and it’s working great. I’ve got more games that I’m interested in than I’ll be able to get through, and I got all of them free or discounted. I’m kind of glad I’m not interested in everything that came out. I don’t have time for all the ones I do like.

Try it. Patience builds character. ;)

  • wow we are getting hosed in our game selection vs the uk. They get sweet games like deus ex, darksiders, dead space 2 and ours is very dull with the exception of one or two games but they have a blockbuster title that release ever month.just let me know when i can sign-up for ps plus uk edition..

  • Thanks a ton for this. This update is freaking awesome. I’m enjoying this service a ton. It offers LOADS of value for less than 50 dollars a bloody YEAR. I just hope you guys know that not all the feedback is negative. I know a lot of those who will post their feedback will do so because they have an axe to grind, so I figured its about time some people who actually like Plus show themselves here. A lot of my friends are too busy enjoying the service to come here and say thanks.

  • Personally I like the changes in Plus, mainly because I get more of a value for my money than I did before.

One thing I would like to see is perhaps a monthly poll on potential games that can be added to Plus in the future, so Sony has an idea what kind of content the majority would like see come about in the future…

  • Morgan,
Will you guys ever do a promo for renewing Plus similar to the Jurassic Park one from last year? I’ve had a 12 month card sitting around for a while now and I’m just waiting to use it. Also, I really can’t understand why people are mad about this month’s Plus offerings. I mean, I don’t know about Bloodrayne, but The Walking Dead and Outland are fantastic games.

  • Hey Morgan,

I really don’t want to complain, but I agree with many others that there is a large discrepancy between the EU and NA Playstation Plus free content and discounts.

I’m especially sad about not having Darksiders. With Darksiders II coming out this month, I was really REALLY hoping that I would have a chance to get the first game discounted or free via Playstation Plus. I feel that this was a missed opportunity and I hope that in the future the PSN team can coordinate great content with new releases to generate real interest in new titles.

  • I have Outland, and it’s a great game! It should be a treat for those that haven’t picked it up. Time to check out Bloodrayne!

    ***
Can those that complain on this (and basically every post) just sit back, consider that what you’re about to complain about, and think before you post such negativity that maybe others do not want to deal with what you’re about to say? If you have thoughts against the service, give your occasional bit of feedback. But this is never-ending. Please – stop with wanting this, that, and wishing things were whatever. Be happier?

  • Hey Morgan I was wondering since I already bought the merc pack a few months ago, if I by it again at the plus price for the aur that it gives will I get double aur? when game goes live like merc pack says we get it back when game is live.

    • Well, from what i understand any DLC you purchase in the Dust 514 beta will be carried over when the full game releases for you to use as you please. so I suppose this should work.

  • Let’s see. If you buy a one-year plus membership you spend about $4.17 a month. I would say that you should expect somewhat more than that back for your anticipated investment. Let’s say $8-$10 a month. That’s a reasonable expectation.

Now, if you expect to get something like $50 a month back from your investment, I would suggest that you need to regain control of your fantasies.

  • I am a first time plus subscriber since last month and my subscription runs out on october, i will renew since im enjoying the games im offered. To those who are complaining o you guys think NA plus wont get some retail games? of course they will, just watch EU plus will have some dry months too. Well its not like this update was dry, not for me atleast.

  • I figured I’d chime in here after reading most of the comments. In regards to the poster stating his anger at Plus’ current change and how he already owned all of the games of the instant collection and tomorrows two new games… It seems that PLUS is not the program for you, considering you like to buy a lot of retail and PSN games, It’s counter productive. If the basis of the program is to offers discounts and occasional free games from the network’s backlog of selections, then it seems that you will always be in the predicament of already having what is offered.

PlayStation Plus may not be for everyone… It’s a decision one has to make looking at their consumer able habits to justify or not. I appreciate the service and am extremely happy with it.

Stay positive Morgan, your job must be difficult on Monday’s!

  • I wonder how many people get banned from commenting on the blog. But I guess it really doesn’t matter since people can make unlimited new accounts and continue to post their rubbish. But oh well I’m rootin for you Morgan. Keep up the good work!!! :)

  • Morgan needs to wear a sticker that says, “don’t shoot the messenger”. :( poor guy taking all the heat just cause he’s the face of ps+

  • How come EU gets Darksiders for free and US does not? I demand Darksiders!

  • Morgan.

    Are you serious?

The focus on Plus is now on Games you can get Trophies in???

Trophies are a nice little bonus but ultimately meaningless.

So having more games on our trophy list is supposed to improve Plus/replace Qore, regular Discounts, PS1 games, mini, avatars, etc…????!!!!

That makes no sense. Plus should revolve around the entire PSN store, not just games that give people trophies so their e-peen feels bigger. Quite a few of my favourite games don’t even have trophy support.

What a shocking dissapointment to see you type out that as the motivation for Plus now.

    • ah, i wouldn’t take it to that extreme. But it’s a tricky balance right? In the ‘old plus’ we saw a substantial amount of negative comments about minis, avatars, and such. So we decided to shift gears to focus more on core PSN and PS3 titles, and for the most part, people are liking it more (less negative comments about the games). Perhaps there’s a way to hit both ends of the spectrum. Thanks for the feedback, as always!

  • Love both of these games, but I already own them. I got a feeling that any good willing to work with PS on the PSN PLAY sale will eventually become free. My only complaint is that sales should be comparable to Steam sales. I love to buy games, but whats the point when I end up paying $40 for everything in the PSN PLAY sale, just to have it become free a year later. On top of that non PS+ sales cover a lot of ground too.

  • So this is what i’m going to say
PS at E3 when you said ps+ was getting a new vamp on things did you only mean the EU was going to get awsome titles? All I see is PS EU getting the Vamp, if you meant only one area of your network was going to get those titles than you should have said that and not mislead PS of America. For the actions you have taken in misleading your customer i feel you are on the verg of a class action law suit. You can not take our money, give us titles that are useless, and than give us the ability to look and see what the EU gets, Your the same company. Equality in gaming for all

  • Just for some perspective: PlayStation Plus costs $4.17 PER MONTH. <– Keep that in mind at all times, whiners.

The only reason I don't have Plus is because I actually like to own my games. Also, I'm picky with my gaming experiences and I'm really only into a few select genres, therefore, receiving games that I'm not at all interested in would lead to some disappointment. Not with the service, but with myself for not researching what it's all about before dropping money on it. It's a good thing that I evaluate the potential of a product before spending blindly on it… and the crybabies here should have done the same. They only have themselves to blame. Sony has done nothing wrong here.

If you're a gaming fanatic who enjoys all genres, or at least the majority of them, Plus is definitely a good fit for you, and I don't see how you could have any complaints whatsoever about the service. Even if you only got one PSN game per month valued at $9.99, you'd still be getting a great deal. But since it's so much more than that, it's actually quite a generous program.

  • @278 For you and the others who fail to see how EU got their 12 games like the US did they separated them into groups 3 at a time which if I do recall darksiders was one of EU plus free games as was the latest oddworld. The NA plus got all the games in one lump sum. Know your facts before getting all hyped up as the same goes for the rest.

  • Just… bought… Outland… DANGIT!

  • @Draco416:

Don’t fret! Outland is awesome and worth every penny of that $10 you just spent on it.

Honestly, I’m surprised it’s never been in the $14.99 bracket, not even when it was first released. It easily could have gone for that price and would still be a great value. ‘Tis a beautiful game.

  • PS PLUS subscriber since day one

yesterady i played the walking dead episodes and RnC all 4 one, mainly because it was a free game.

Awesome, Plus is great, is cheap, and that is the least positive one can be about plus.

Morgan takes the heat from folks that dont know how hard is too make management agree to this crazy free games deals.

Appreciate everything you and your team does, keep it up!

  • Not only you replaced PS3 titles with PSN, but its 2 months in a row I already got the game :( Better be good games by next month..

  • One happy costumer here. It has been less than 3 months since I subscribed but I already got my money back with games like Infamous 2, Trine 2, PacMan, Outland, Lara Croft, The Walking Dead, and others. Even if I would have rented these games, it would cost me more than $50. For the most part, I actually prefer PSN titles. Full PS3 games can be obtained by other inexpensive means like renting, borrowing from a friend, or waiting for a price cut; whereas PSN games can only be obtained by an online purchase. However, I also would not mind a good full PS3 title.

I will definitely continue to subscribe if the quality of the program is maintained at this level. I would like to thank all of you guys for the hard work.

  • @ Morgan Haro – I know this is pretty deep into the page count, but I hope you see this anyways.

It would be nice if Sony would consider packages for the PLUS program, not tiers really like were suggested in the email sent to some plus users, but packages.

    For example:

Package 1: PS3 Full Titles – Throw out full PS3 titles, even some newer titles, whatever rotation schedule would be value appropriate. Users who want this package would only get full PS3 titles.

Package 2: PSN Titles – Again, throw out PSN games in a rotation that would be value appropriate. Users who want this package would only get PSN titles.

    • perhaps in the future that might be something to consider. thanks for the idea! For now, with the resources available, we’ll be focusing on one Plus membership.

  • Yep, I’m letting my Plus sub run out and switching to EU Plus. Don’t give me that garbage “Just wait until you see what’s in store next month!” nonsense. You say that every single month. Sorry, but I’m not buying into it. SCEA has treated it’s consumers like trash and largely ignored customer feedback so don’t say you are listening.

With the downward spiral Plus has been going on and the poor as all hell support the Vita is getting, this will be the last gen I show any support at all for Sony. I absolutely regret investing so much money in your products now, but never again will I be suckered in by your BS. This is just ridiculous.

    • Sorry to hear you’re disappointed Sevyne, but if you do decide to leave Plus, I hope you’ll see the improvements that are bound to be incoming down the road and make your way back.

  • Package 3: Vita/PSP/Minis – Throwing out Vita, PSP and Mini’s in a value appropriate rotation.

Package 4: Mixed Bag – Exactly what PLUS is now, a lil bit of everything, the best choice for new PS3/PSN PLUS users to grow into the community.

Package 5: Discounts – For the people who buy alot, this would be perfect, they would not get freebies during PLUS updates, but would get appropriate value discounts on ALL online purchases, which would allow users who buy alot to be in control of what titles their getting and yet still get a value from PLUS so as not to feel “shafted” by freebie offers or discounts being given on previously purchased or obtained titles.

  • Nice update, can we start getting dlc now or ps2 classics on plus.

  • Are there ever any plus discounts for psp/vita games?

  • @Psikorps:

Those are very good ideas. I imagine they’d be extremely difficult to implement, however. Given that the value of the products within those packages significantly vary from each other, achieving balance across the board (mostly financially) would be close to impossible. But I do hope they take your ideas into consideration, and perhaps offer some fair and balanced variations of them in the future.

  • Another waste of money this month… Shame on you SONY… Shame on you…

  • I want more games with platinum.
Hey Morgan, any chance of us getting ModNation Racers (PS3) for playstation plus?

  • whats wrong with you all?! you already getting stuff worth more than what you paid for (PS+ subscription)

  • wow this is awful. no one gives a crap about bloodrayne or outland. yet its on ps2 classics and now psn for betrayal. this is why i only got a 3 month subscription. i knew t psplus was too good to be true. no good blockbuster game will ever appear on there. wake up sony no on want crappy psn titles, we want full retail games. only good thing on that list is walking dead. what a disappointment

    • don’t mistake Bloodrayne Betrayal with the PS2 Classics Bloodrayne. The one that is in Plus is a completely awesome HD new BlodRayne title with crazy good animation. Developed to run on a PS3 and not the older PS2 Classic title

  • I know it can’t be easy pleasing everyone all the time and i understand the hard work you guys do. For those who are not happy with the content let me offer some suggestions for i’ve been an active member of the Playstation community for a few decades now (i talking way back in the PS Underground days).

First it might be good to offer vouchers to the PS+ community to purchase a select group of Content, a much wider group, with a variety of tiers.
These tiers can be a group of PS2 titles or a group of PNS titles and they could have credits to spend and lets say the tier had 10 choices of content and the credits are limited to 3 or 4 of the titles in that list.

I guess people get frustrated when they purchase an item to only have it offered for free later down the road. Maybe if you are a PS+ member and have one of these titles on your PS, maybe once the PS+ version is available especially the free titles maybe PS could offer a credit to that members account to purchase something new. Give back for those who actually spent the money on titles people buy on day one.

Sorry I went on too long but as a life time member of this community i hope you take my suggestions to heart. Keep up the good work.

  • I must say I am disappointed with this update. When I saw Just Cause 2 at “Expiring Soon”, I thought ” This week we will see something great at PS+, like Dead Space 2 or something”. But no. At least not for now. I am not saying that you guys should copy the EU, but learn with them. They have DS2, you give us Resident Evil, the y get Deus Ex, and we Grand Theft Auto IV. I could go on on the list for hours, but I think I have made my point clear. Don´t want to be compared with PS EU? All you have to do is be better. Don´t get me wrong, I am happy with the PS+ features (Updates, cloud saving, free games,…) but I feel that more could be done to improve our gaming time. With nothing more to add,” Live in yOur wXrld. pl^y in h[]urs. I just mentioned the GTA IV because my disc doesn´t work anymore( I think I may have played it too much, and I wouldn´t mind to receive it in the next update, kk).

  • I think this is a good update as it helps put some more variety in the collection. But while I’m happy to get Outland because I’ve wanted to get it but never have,I would imagine most people already have it because it was often recommended by gaming sites and has been discounted in sales a number of times. I think going forward it might be best to avoid these kind of “big name” games that have been steeply discounted before.

Of course people like me who don’t own the games will still want these good games that everyone else owns so I would suggest giving them out with “big” releases that everyone doesn’t already own (like maybe full retail games) so that people who already own them will feel like they are getting something really good to make up for it.

Also I would like to see more free Minis(I’d really like to see Carnivores and Who’s that flying?!) and PSP sales to help keep my Vita feed. I know there have been a lot of PSP sales lately , I’d just like to see it continue.(and include Patapon and LocoRoco)
