Dust 514
Closed Beta Access and 50% off Mercenary Pack Add-On
Remember that Beta I talked about earlier? I know, it was a bit in the making but we’re happy to welcome our friends from the Dust 514 team into Plus with exclusive access for the closed beta. Dust 514 is the free to play first person shooter that may change the face of how we battle online in games. Help test the first live direct connection to the extremely popular EVE Online MMO as players on the main server in DUST 514 and EVE Online can chat in real time and send in-game mail between games. It’s a first in gaming, it’s free to play when it releases later this fall, and exclusive access is coming to Plus members on 8/21. You’ll have until September 4th to jump in the Beta. Read more about the features available in this Beta in a post from Brandon Laurino, Executive Producer on Dust 514.
We’re also sporting a 50% discount on the Mercenary Pack DLC for Dust 514 which gives access to in-game currency to spend in game, skill boosts, and exclusive gear. Now I know what you’re thinking: this is a beta, how can I buy Add-Ons if it’s in beta? Good question! Any Add-Ons that are purchased with Dust 514 while the game is in Beta will be carried over when the game releases later this fall. So buy with confidence! There’s a ton of great Dust 514 blog posts; read up on the game and jump in the Beta.

Now Valve is partnering with PlayStation to deliver this new release 20% off when it becomes available for download on 8/21. The final title of the PSN PLAY promotion, make sure you’ve picked up as many titles from PLAY as possible so you can get the most amount of PlayStation Store credit back on September 7th.

You know what? Free PSP games for Plus is a fantastic idea you guys at Sony may want to consider doing ASAP. Specifically PSP games that can be downloaded directly with the Vita from the store. That sounds to me like the best possible way of making Plus members who are Vita owners happy, and I’d imagine if they are mostly 1st party games with less 3rd party, it would be fairly affordable on Sony’s end as well even on top of what you already give us. As long as they can be played on the Vita everyone would be happy. So long as they aren’t games competeing with new Vita releases as to not impact those sales.
(sigh)…Metal Gear Solid HD collection (PS Vita) (Konami) at some time in the future, too….
i usually don’t complain but now seriously NA’s plus is a joke now >;(
they always give us crappy games or games we already own WTF
Hi there! I’ve recently bought a PS3 and I can’t quite get all these freebies for PSN+ subscribers.
I mean, if I subscribe for a month right now, will I get all this games immediately for free?
What happens with those games when my subscription expires?
Also, are PSVita and PSP games playable on my PS3?
Sorry for double posting. =)
@Strauss: If your Plus subscription expires you lose the access to play the games you got for free. If you sign back up all the games you got before it expired will still be there to play.
Also you can not play Vita or PSP games on your PS3.
@Strauss: In case you are also wondering anything you buy with a Plus discount is yours to keep forever.
@DazeOfWar: Thanks for the info!
you know all the games i see now i would prefer the EU they are getting dead space who wouldn’t want deadspace then 2d games there need to better games the only game i see that good is dust that is it everything else isn’t funny
Has Sony ever considered an option to buy a PSN game as a gift for a PSN friend, so they can just download the title and play together?
@Strauss: Glad to help out.
Great titles coming to PS+, but I’m really sorry, there’s no way not to compare it to the incredible content offered in the EU, and for that I’m not happy with my plus subscription…
I believe this is my last month of plus, and I don’t see any advantages on renewing it. Please, amaze me next month.
Another week of weak content for the PS+ subscribers. Well, except Outland. I like that game. Never owned, played the demo and I’m looking forward to playing it as a full version. The discounts are great, even though I miss them all the time but keep it up. Who cares what others say that it’s free and we’re whining or whatever. We paid a subscription that will give us free great content from Playstation Plus. If you pay a subscription for 50 bucks or at least 17 for the three months subscription, surely we must get something out of that? Right? I mean we pay for it because of the content that you guys give out for free but lately, it’s getting weak. I love Playstation Plus and I love subscribing it because it saves me a lot of money and I love the free content you guys are giving out but it’s getting weak. It need to be back where it was awesome, how you guys pulled off with the so-called 12 game instant game collection, that was awesome. The ones who thought that we are complaining, we’re not complaining. We just want awesome content. Not all that weaksauce. We don’t want that. Gives us some epic stuff because it is Playstation “Plus”.
Morgan.
You’d certainly know better than I do, I tend to only read the posts that get replies.
So I’ve seen the comment on not wanting a rental vs owning, no real sense of how often it was said.
Personally the rent vs own thing would bother me far more than Vita support or PS3 full games, guess not many people feel the same, maybe i’m just too old. Services like Netflix have no interest for me so I also have little concept of how they operate (specifics).
Or to put it another way, not counting MMOs, PSN is the only service I’ve ever paid a monthly fee for heh.
Hey Morgan! Kind of a bland update for me personally, but half the fun of a Monday is reading the rants on the blog anyway! Today was not a let down either…
So, after reading the posts and seeing that many people are upset over themes, avatars, etc, I had an idea (although I may not have been the first person to come up with it). I have gotten three people to sign up for plus just because of how much I enjoy the service (which I openly acknowledge paying for and will continue to pay for by renewing). That said, have you guys ever considered a referral program? Offer themes or avatars or whatever for a referral or a number of referrals. Obviously this would have to be retroactive for me :)
Anyway, just a thought! Keep up the great work!
lovin playstation….psplus ppl shouldnt have much 2 complain about….i signed up last month an got nearly 20 games since….thumbs up!!!!!!!
How about An My Little Pony Game and TV Shows on like Lazytown eps ?
Justin Bieber Game ?
Free Addon’s Like LBP 1
Free Avatars Like MLP
Free Dev Tools ? or 900 dollars
BlooodyCow you not a plus members so why you here???
+ StraussVanDor you get all games for free but when plus member expires you cant play any more
I’m seeing a few ideas thrown around, so here’s mine…
A PS+ points system that lets us choose what we want, not from the entire PS Store, but from a pre-determined collection that sees content rotated in and out each month. Like a really big version of the Instant Game Collection, but we have to pick from it instead of getting all of it.
Offer a mix of PSN games, full games, PS1 games, DLC, avatars, minis, themes, and discounts, and “price” them all accordingly.
Like say… give us ten points that are only good for the month. I could spend 4 points on a full PS3 game, 3 points on a PSN game, and three points on a second PSN game.
Or 3 points on a PSN game, two points on a PS1 game, 3 on a big discount on a paid game, and two on a couple avatars.
Different games can be “priced” accordingly depending on how new/popular/expensive the are.
You can even use the points system to offer discount tiers. Instead of 50% off a game, I could cash in a few points to get an even better discount.
I think that would be a great way to cater to different tastes while still maintaining control of the pool of what’s offered for free.
Well, there’s nothing that could support a system like that for the time being. It’d be a bit outside of the current system’s abilities to manage on a per user level, but it’s a good idea nonetheless. Thanks for the suggestion! perhaps there’s an idea in there that might still be able to be used in some other way to help gamers who may already have IGC content. I’m trying to find the answer to that question at the time being myself, but we’ll figure it out =)
