PlayStation Store Highlights

Our PSN PLAY promotion is coming to an end with one of the most beloved classics of all time: Counter Strike. CS: Global Offensive is available for pre-order for $14.99 or $11.99 for PlayStation Plus members. Those who pre-order receive a static theme, and the more PSN PLAY opportunities you take advantage of, the more credit you’ll receive to use on other items in the PlayStation Store.

Papo & Yo, last week’s PSN PLAY game, is now available on the PlayStation Store. A fantasy adventure game, Papo & Yo has been lauded for its emotional subject matter and puzzle-centric gameplay. If you’re curious about this indie darling, there’s a free demo available, so you can try before you buy.

The PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection is getting a boost this week with both Outland and BloodRayne: Betrayal joining the lineup. Outland, the critically acclaimed PSN title from Ubisoft, is a 2D platformer with stunning visuals. The bloody side-scroller BloodRayne: Betrayal was a part of last year’s PSN PLAY catalogue, but if you missed out on snagging it then, you have a second chance. In addition to the free games, Plus members also get a 20% discount on Papo & Yo along with a full game trial of CSI: Fatal Conspiracy.

Finally, if you’re eager for the football season to begin you can try out EA’s Madden NFL 13 before it hits stores on August 28th and if you like it, you can also pre-order it.

The Youtube app for PS3 needs a patch or something because it freezes up FREQUENTLY. Who approved this app coming out without working out all the kinks. I love using this app, but this app locking up almost everytime I attempt to play a video, is NO GOOD!!!!!!!

Hey Kristine,
Where’s the update to the Stardust bundle sale that was mentioned last week? Super Stardust HD plus all 3 DLC (not just 2) for $7.99? I was watching for that. looks like it’s still missing Impact.

It’s there, but the description hasn’t been updated. If you go to “buy” you’ll see the Impact DLC is included (just tested it myself).

You guys should consider a VEVO app! And when you do, make it like Netflix where you decide the quality playback between weak, good and BEST quality. If Netflix can stream in HD, then so can VEVO (make it go 1080p)

I tend to agree with people asking for more PSP price drops. $40 for PSP game is absurd. Sure its a great title, but its old and you can’t even sell it back.

I’d buy more PSP games if they were closer to $5-15. I love sales when a $10 game becomes $5. In the past, they’ve been instant buys: Power Stone Collection, Crazy Taxi Fare Wars, and Crush. Also bundles, such as Valkyria Chronicles II bundle that was like twenty some bucks when the game by itself was $40.

/2 cents

Fellow Canadians: As others before me have suggested just create a new US user account. All you need is a legit email address, city and zip code (I used Helena, Montana, 59601) and you’re good to go to download the YouTube app.

I had to create a UK account a few years ago when for some strange reason the demo for NHL ’09 released like a week before North America got it. You know because the UK is such a hockey hotbed and all… ;)

August 15th, 9:39 am

Well it was just as I thought. I tried the two new ps plus games and they both totally suck. If I wanted to play crappy 2D scrolling games I’d build a time machine to go back to the 80s and 90s this is 2012 Sony, quit giving out below average games. Walking dead is ok but these other two titles (Bloodrayne and Outland) are horid!!! I really feel sorry for people who actually spent money on those two garbage games. Hey Sony here’s an idea how about hiring some to oversee ps plus who knows what gaming in 2012 should be like, and quit wasting our time with these sub-par two or three decade old style games. Just make a seperate plus membership offering only Full ps3 games. Even if it’s only one full game a month it would be better than this.

about PSn+
Since June I have download 0 games because you known they were not so good…. In June, downloaded 3 games on the twelve so 3 games downloaded for 3 month is not good for me.

Renegade Ops, Pac Man CE DX and Gotham City
Walking dead only the first and the second + Outland BloodRayne Betrayal
Deus Ex, Darksiders, MotorStorm Apocalypse,
Dead Space 2, Borderlands, Red dead redemption

Hmmm difficult choice right ??

not really

I tried Crackle again last night, and it actually worked. I was surprised. It was decent quality too, although I doubt it was HD. And when you’d watch an episode of something, they’d throw a commercial in there before the show starts. Pretty stupid. I didn’t watch a full episode, so I don’t know how many trailers they actually show, but pretty stupid that there has to be ads on there. Not much for selection on it either, but I guess what can you expect for free.

I forgot who said it but they blamed the CRTC for youtube not being available in canada. Nothing could be further from the truth as neither CRTC or FCC regulates content itself on the internet, those regulations only go as far as the companies who provide access itself. Don’t forget neither country is that totalitarian state blocking access with its “great firewall. The restriction on the Youtube app being American only and Crackle being Canadian only is purely sonys internal decision since you can easily go to either site on a web browser in either country. Put the blame for the nonsensical decision making where it belongs.

August 15th, 3:50 pm

@272 – it was me and you’re right I was wrong. Sometimes my personal distain for the CRTC leads me to place blame on them even in some cases where it’s not deserved.

But yeah if the CRTC were behind it, then we wouldn’t be able to get a YouTube app in Canada for the Vita, 360, iPhone or anything else.

Good point.

What is everybody talking about on the youtube app? I fired mine up and then selected for it not to trace what I watch and sending information back to improve youtube I disabled that feature the app has and I watched youtube videos on it with my kids for like 2 hours last night and never had a freeze. A little laggy here and there but nothing major, so I don’t get why all the complaining about it. The only thing I wish they would’ve added was a way to comment on the videos or see video comments I mean other than that I love the app. Its better than the ps3 internet browser in video quality that’s for sure and fills up my big screen TV very well. Its not true HD but its not bad. I have broadband Cable modem Internet at up to 30 mbps download speed and up to 5 mbps upload speed and it played pretty good on my ps3 last night but I haven’t tryed it since though. Anyways I like the app so I can’t see why most of you HATE IT. I like it so far. It needs commenting on videos added though.

Clap, clap, clap. Well doe sony again.

The PSN plus updates are getting better and better… that when i think i will not renew or don´t buy more games from PSN
I´m a first tive subscriver of plus, but i don´t know why EU get retail games and US pSN titles.
I always bought PSN play titles, and this time i already bought 2, but like sony make me loose money when two moonts ago i bought a seaso pass of walking dead to get one free, because i´m a psn+ user i see that i trow my money down the toilet..
Of course Sony will don´t have to know what game users have before the offer, but this thing of walking dead is scandalous!
Why don´t we have the same games that EU? They complain that don´t have just cause 2 and this week thaey have it and also borderslands and also Retro/Grade! for free.
For US not eve oddworld HD we get or even Retro/Grade! :(
Like i said in other post that no one replyed ( the walking dead off post) i have to stop one of two thing, or subscriving Plus or buy games from PSN.
That way i don´t lose money and you lose a buyer.

@278 – That’s some good advice. I wasn’t aware i could download from a us account and share to my localized CA account. Thanks for the heads up – appreciate it.

I’ll likely wait it out – comments about the vita YouTube app being available for Canadian’s brings new hope.

Cheers Sony / oo7PorscheMGS

ps – nice to see Ms. Steimer still responding to comments.

Sleepless_Knight I know what you mean how regulators can get in the way but this time the blame squarely on sonys shoulders where it belongs. And from what I’m seeing from those you can use the youtube app, it stinks like…..nevermind. I’d look at it myself since they claimed its for “north america” and I’m in North America. Looks to failing at customer service and programming they also blew it in geography. Is it even possible that this company will learn that being cheap and half a**ed costs them far more than it saves? One can only hope.

Is this some kind of sick joke? EU PS+ members keep getting great retail games like Deus Ex, Dead Space 2, Motorstorm Apocalypse, Borderlands and Red Dead Redemption next month as their free games while the North America store gets nothing but PSN crap and 2/5ths of the Walking Dead game. This is insulting beyond words. You’ve lost me as a fan and customer.

You guys need to get up with Directv and again and offer the Sunday NFL ticket… I don’t mind paying the $340 if I can watch football this year.

Unfortunately nothing this time but once again PS+Europe gets the better stuff. Total rip off.
