Fight to Survive in Tokyo Jungle, on PSN September 25th

You may have caught wind of this one-of-a-kind title’s release in Japan or heard whispers of it this past E3, but we’re excited to finally announce that Tokyo Jungle will be coming to PS3 via PSN very shortly — on September 25th, to be exact!

TOKYO JUNGLE on PSN

Developed by PlayStation C.A.M.P and Crispy’s, Tokyo Jungle is an action-adventure game set in a post-apocalyptic Japan, where humankind no longer exists and animals must ruthlessly fight for their lives. In this world, there’s just one rule — only the strong survive!

Fight to Survive in Tokyo Jungle, on PSN September 25th

Tokyo Jungle puts you in the shoes (paws?) of over 50 playable animals ranging from Pomeranians to Lions. Playing your animal of choice, unleash your inner beast to hunt your way to the top of Tokyo’s post-apocalyptic food chain.

There are two game modes: in Story Mode, you’ll play as a range of different animals whose lives are intertwined as they struggle to survive in the Tokyo wilderness, while unraveling the mystery of mankind’s disappearance. In Survival Mode, you will hunt, occupy territories, and produce offspring to secure future generations and resist extinction. As you progress, you’ll also obtain survival points to unlock playable animals and purchase costumes to increase your abilities.

Whether in Story or Survival Mode, you never know where your next meal will come from or the dangers you’ll face in this concrete jungle, so be prepared for anything and everything when Tokyo Jungle hits PlayStation Network on September 25th for $14.99.

  • Man I have been waiting for this game for soooo long. And it’s only going to be fifteen bucks? Awww yeah! Day One Purchase.

  • Wow. That sounds like a weird game.

…I’ll probably buy it. Bring me more weird stuff!

  • The premise is weird, but in this case, weird is good. Seriously, when was the last time you played as another organism that is NOT human? Maybe as a dinosaur, but not as good as this…

Day one purchase from me as well~

  • wow….just saw the trailer and this game looks like a train wreck. in a good bizarre way though. I don’t think i’m willing to dish out $15 for this, but if theres a demo i’d love to see how it plays myself. lol

  • Sick day one buy!

    Something different i like that!

  • Omfg ant wait for this I’ve looked at the Japan version and loved this will download this day one so awesome this is coming to the USA can’t wait this games looks very different and interesting cant wait to play

  • Its a PSN title? I didnt think it was. Cant wait to try it!

  • man, this looks SOOOO wack!! …and SILLY!!!

  • not going to lie but i almost laughed my butt off watching the trailer.Looks interesting and i might buy it :)

  • I love games like this though they are few and far between. Last ones I played were “LION” and “WOLF” which were top down open world games where you lived the life of these animals. But they were extremely basic, and I’m happy to be able to get a new version of that type of game.

I’m probably going to buy this. But there are some things about this particular game that bug me, and kinda put me off. Maybe these are things you can think about for a sequel if this game is successfull enough to warrant one.

The graphics……jeez, I know graphics aren’t everything, but the visuals in this game are rediculously bad. Good graphics would make a game like this FAR more impressive to potential buysers.

The realism…….the whole idea is perfect, and in your description it doesn’t sound rediculous. But then I see the pics of dogs with hard-hats and a bear crossing it’s arm in apparent conversation. I wish I wasn’t seeing that.

Online. It doesn’t seem to have it. An open world, semi-mmo environmet for the survival mode would be amazing. A community would add crazy depth to a game like this.

    Stuff to consider.

  • SO awesome!!!!!!!!!!! I had no idea this was being brought over from Japan!! Will be buying for sure thank you SO MUCH!!!

  • look nice

  • Wow. There are a lot of morons who have no idea how to run a business on this board.

  • A game like this probably wouldn’t survive being in retail. This isn’t one of those games that you’ll see on TV in the States be promoted to kingdom come because of its utterly niche appeal. Digital seems to be the way to go for this game.

  • Last gen we got games like this all the time. Mr. Mosquito, Robot Alchemic Drive, Chulip etc etc.
Even this gen we got stuff like Afrika. Absolutely no reason for us not to get this on disc.
Digital only is just not ood enough.

  • I’m not going to lie, I lawled. :) I will probably get this. Looks unique and interesting.

  • I had interest in this title, then lost interest as it took forever to come stateside and it looks a little lackluster then I thought. Now that it’s almost available on PSN and only $14.99, I’m interested again. I never buy games over $10 on the store, but this games seems somewhat justifiable… Probably because of the hoping dogs in the trailer … Or the absurdity of the premise all together. Either way, I really hope there’s a PLUS discount or free theme for this!

This game needs an online mode, where a hundred people are in the game simultaneously just killing each other in a survival species free for all.

And yes, I would buy a fantasy creatures DLC pack!

  • Stupid iPhone autocorrect!

  • Looks great. I am very excited about this one.

  • @Einhander138: Man you just don’t know when to shut up do you? We get it; You don’t like digital. Fine, but it is not sweeping a release under the rug. I prefer physical releases too, but let’s face it, times are changing. Would you rather it not be released at all? I hope you say yes to prove your selfishness btw.

  • @70

Unlike the selfish brats who say “shut up and buy digital and like it”, my argument is that it should be released *both* physically and digitally so people have a choice in the format they want to buy it in. Releasing it digitally only is effectively the same as not releasing it for people who like physical releases.
Why cut out part of your audience? That’s an extremely poor business decision.

  • I always love and welcome new, unique games, this game already seemed interesting to me and after seeing all the stellar reviews it makes me even more interested in the game.

Will there be a demo? if there is, and I like it, if $15 doesn’t seem to be overpriced for this game, which so far it doesn’t, you have yourself a purchase. If it doesn’t, I will have to wait for user reviews and game play videos to decide. Again, double thumbs up for a new, unique game!

Why isn’t there a PSVita version? Every PS3 game, including every PSN game should be released on PSVita as well, with the standard purchase once, play on all AKA “Cross Buy.” This will not only make more people buy PSVitas, PS3s and games, but also be better for the PlayStation brand, ecosystem and the consumer and PlayStation as a whole.

  • Every game should release on retail and digital but retail has to be the priority and main one. You can’t make game that has to be on retail like Uncharted 3 and release it only digital. The only games that is acceptable that are released digitally only are smaller games like Pixeljunk games, although I don’t see why they aren’t released physically, they will definitely get more sales. Or at least do what thatgamecompany is doing and releasing all their games bundled in one disc with extras.

  • This game is looking pretty cool to be honest. I am hoping plus members will get a discount.

I like the scene at 1:19

  • I bought the Japanese version, and Love this game, I love it enough to buy the us release digital or disc, I can’t wait, I’ll hate having to start from scratch again, but atleast I’ll have a better understanding of whats going on,(my japanese is limited :/ )

  • Can’t wait to play! O.M.G.!

  • @ Einhander138. To DIE on PSN? Really? So no one uses PSN at all? No one will see the game there? I suppose all those people who brought Journey were imaginary I right?

  • Can’t wait play as squirrel. Are there squirrels.

  • Just saw the review on IGN and this games looks like a definite buy and is something different than I have ever seen before.
