PlayStation Store Update 8-21-2012

This week is jam-packed with games of all shapes and sizes, so you’re bound to find something you like. If you’re a Transformers fan you’ll be happy to see that the latest retail offering, Fall of Cybertron, is available the day it launches – in other words, right now. If you’re wavering on whether or not to get it, the fact that you can make your own Transformer might help you decide. Seriously.

Let’s just say for argument’s sake that you hate robots (you monster), but love team-based shooters. You’re in luck. Counter Strike: Global Offensive is the newest iteration of the classic franchise, so regardless if you’re a retired pro or a beginner, now’s a good time to get involved in the community. It’s the last title in the PSN PLAY promotion, which also means that this is the last week to purchase games and earn PlayStation Store credit back. Read more about the event by clicking here.

  • WOW!!! Great Update!!
    Thanks PSN!

  • I’m still hoping for the day that Megaman X Collection arrives to the PS Store. I don’t understand why Capcom doesn’t want…

  • Wow, so early, again. Great job!

  • Just curious, is there any chance the PSP versions of Final Fantasy I & II will ever come out on PSN? I don’t know why North America’s PSN doesn’t have them, but they’re up on the Japanese and European PSNs.

    Thanks!

  • Wow. AMAZING update! Thanks!!

  • Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3 both 15 bucks each!? Thats Metal Gear Awesome I already purchased Counter Strike and I might buy one if not both Metal Gear Games. This is arrgubly the best update of the summer.

  • Usually I’m one to complain about the LACK of content.

Now it’s almost too much this week, I don’t even have enough money for everything I want. (Legasista, WoTS, MGS, Retro Grade..)

    Good stuff.

  • Will Michael Jackson: The Experience be fun for the kids?

  • when is Dawngaurd going to come out. we are losing patients, I enjoy that your updating your stockbut i feel like i am being stiffed by you guys.

  • MGS3 Digital!

Quick side note why is Dragons Dogma Demo back? Is that a typo?

  • Morgan (or Grace or someone),
Can you confirm that NFL Sunday Ticket will be back on PS3 for the 2012 season? I’ve seen internet speculation that suggests it won’t, due to the App not currently being available on PSN.
NFL Sunday Ticket is one of the best non-video game uses Sony ever added to the PS3. If it wasn’t to return this season, people like me who are unable to get DirecTV where we live will be very sad pandas.

  • And PSP or PSONE Free game ??? No more for plus member ????

  • On my Vita, MGS2 and 3 are showing up as 19.99 each.
…but 14.99 is the correct price, right? Right?! D:

  • Any word on when the codes for the Super Stardust HD Impact DLC will be sent out? It’s been 2 weeks since the sale started and we’re still waiting…

  • BTW; If anyone knows (Morgan, blog posters, whomever). Does the digital version of MGS3 include the two MSX Metal Gears as well?

  • Way better update than the past weeks. Its just depressing how overpriced the new direct to psn japanese games that are releasing today are. Legasista would have been a nice $15 title, with Way of the Samurai 4 good at $20 (considering how terrible 3 was, though they seemed to have improved things).
Wish there was better sales than those crappy Harvest Moon games, but whatever. Glad to see MGS 2 and 3 on. Wish it was Cross Promotion so i could buy ps3 version and get the vita one free. :P

  • Question: Does purchasing either of the MGS games give you access to the download for BOTH systems, or do you have to purchase each game twice (once from each store) to play it on both systems?

  • @6: Well, the collection itself is $40, and the two of those are $30 together. Considering that Peace Walker is more than $10 on PSN, you’re better off buying the whole collection. Not a great deal, in other words.

Speaking of deals that aren’t so great, $20 for Bulletstorm? Still too expensive — I walked into Best Buy the other day and saw it for $5.

That said, this is the best update I’ve seen in quite a while (months). ::tips hat::

  • How is it the MGS HD portable games are only $15 each but Peace Walker on PSP is $30.
Why won’t that game drop in price to $15?!

Also if I buy the HD collection on Vita bundle does it give me access to download MGS 1 & 2 separately to save space on my stick when I’m not playing one?

  • Great update! Too bad there’s no trial/demo for CS:GO though. Us europeans is on a “no word yet on release” status regarding the game, but yeah. Valve, if you’re reading this – GET ON IT!

  • I thought PS+ members were going to be able to auto download Counter Strike this morning? That’s what I read on various sites. You know, for the one hour trial. What happened? Was I mistaken and that was only for another region? Could someone clarify this? Thanks.

    • It was only for a timed trial of the game. If you had it preordered already, then it wouldn’t have pushed the timed trial. Apologies for the confusion here., but to confirm, it’s only a timed trial that was pushed automaticaly to Plus members who had not preordered the game.

  • Looking forward to Way of the Samurai 4 and Legasista~ Agreed, this is one of the better PSN updates yet! ^^

  • Holy smokes this is early; of course, next week is what I’m really waiting for :)

  • Really good update.
I just have one question: when will Okami HD be released?

  • I was excited for Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, but for $15 each might as well just buy the hd collection.

Also, can we please be given an update on GTA 3?

  • Though there’s nothing to tempt me right now, I do appreciate more and better exclusive discounts on games for Plus members in this update. Keep it coming! You’ll get me one of these weeks. ;)

  • Awesome update between the Nhl 13 demo, CS, Snake Eater and after I join Ps+ and get the into Dust beta my HD is gonna be screaming tonight.

  • I just checked the store and MGS2 & 3 on Vita are showing as $20 each not $15. Which one is correct?

  • Can’t wait for next week! Gonna be a particularly great update for Vita owners to atleast tie us over for the upcoming big releases like LBP and FIFA. Thanks Grace and Crew. Keep up the good work!

  • This is a fantastic update! Can’t wait to get home and start spending money. But…PLANTS AND POKER BUNDLE? Who is the twisted mind that put that combo together :)?

  • Like @13 says the vita store list MGS2/3 as 19.99 not 14.99 stated here. But it makes more sense to put them at 19.99 since the collection is 34.99 on the store. SO i think there is an error here.

  • Where’s the Full Game Trial for Counter Strike: Global Offensive? I can’t find it on the PS Store.

    It’s there somewhere… right?

  • @8, Salmoriarty, yes Michael Jackson will be fun for kids. If you have Move. There are both singing & dancing competition modes & I never heard of a kid who wouldn’t like that.

  • Downloading Legasista ^_^

  • I wish CS:GO had a demo. It looks like a game I want. I don’t want to play a trial only for it to stick the game on my trophy list. I wish that was addressed in a firmware update or something. Give us a delete option or something, or don’t add them to our list in the first place. I’d be perfectly fine if I could just use the trial on an alternate profile.

Anyway, great update. Sleeping Dogs demo and the Dust beta!

  • I thought the Counter Strike:GO trail was suppose to download overnight for PS+ subscribers? As stated here http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Plus/PLUS-MEMBERS-CounterStrike-Demo-Automatically-Overnight/m-p/37912501/message-uid/37912501#U37912501

  • Absolutely HORRIBLE Vita update this week. Thanks, guys. Also, why is MGS 2 & 3 $20 each on Vita while being $15 on PS3? Are they better versions?

  • @10 no the dragons dogma demo isnt a typo.. supposedly according to capcom the original demo sucked, so they made a new one… this is the new one (to hopefully get more people to try it?) so no thats not a typo

  • I see you guys updated the Vita prices for the MGS collection. So let me get it right. It’s $20 per game for the Vita versions making it the same price as the PS3 version which INCLUDES HD Peace Walker. Pass.

  • @9, Jaykatz, blame Bethesda, not Sony. Bethesda has not released Dawnguard for the PS3 for testing yet & I am very skeptical if the will, for a long time. Dawnguard on the X is very buggy, even though the “vanilla” game worked much better than on the PS3. Dawnguard was glitchy, but the more recent patch 1.7 made even the X version unplayable. So, Beth is having problems.

  • That PS+ content is a joke.

Europe got Dead Space 2 and are getting Retro/Grade for free as well.

  • That has to be some kind of record for the number of PSN games in one week, wow. That’s crazy.

    • and they’re all looking good. not sure what I want to get to first. I think it’s between Transformers, RetroGrade, and CSGO. choices..

  • I bought METAL GEAR SOLID: HD COLLECTION digitally a while ago. Why I can’t download the individual copies for free? I mean, I’ve already paid for the games… Steam >>>>> PSN!!!

  • Very organized update! and early too! I like it!

I’m very proud that DLC is finally getting a Plus discount, although with the recent updates to the game I’m going to have to give it a second thought.

But it’s nice we have that option!

I already have the beta but it’s good that everyone now has a chance to play it.

  • I’ll try the Retro/Grade demo. Also, the $20 price on Hot Pursuit made it very interesting.

@2 I also want the Mega Man X Collection. Why CAPCOM? Don’t you want my money? =) Also, Asura’s Wrath on the PSN would be great.

  • WHATTTT!!! NO EPISODE 3 OF THE WALKING DEAD!!!??? : (

  • ^retro/grade looks lame. Why would you be jealous of them getting that?

  • Awesome update. I was going to comment on the $15 MGS Vita games…but I see you already changed it up to $20. But any updates on when we can start playing our PSOne games on the Vita? My 30+ PSOne games need to come with me where ever I go!

  • Solid update! Wasn’t expecting a free LBP2 Autumn pack!

PS PLUS idea… closer to Halloween, Siren: Blood Curse should be a free PLUS game! Last year’s Halloween/PLUS update was a letdown, to be honest. There are so many horror themed games on PSN that it’s a shame not to make a big deal of Halloween in a big way, PLUS-style!
