PlayStation Store Highlights

PlayStation Store Update 8-21-2012

This week is jam-packed with games of all shapes and sizes, so you’re bound to find something you like. If you’re a Transformers fan you’ll be happy to see that the latest retail offering, Fall of Cybertron, is available the day it launches – in other words, right now. If you’re wavering on whether or not to get it, the fact that you can make your own Transformer might help you decide. Seriously.

Let’s just say for argument’s sake that you hate robots (you monster), but love team-based shooters. You’re in luck. Counter Strike: Global Offensive is the newest iteration of the classic franchise, so regardless if you’re a retired pro or a beginner, now’s a good time to get involved in the community. It’s the last title in the PSN PLAY promotion, which also means that this is the last week to purchase games and earn PlayStation Store credit back. Read more about the event by clicking here.

  • Will Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops ever be compatible with PS Vita?

  • Metal Gear HD remasters should have CROSS-BUY (not to mention CROSS-PLAY). If anything, buying both should come with a digital discount for the love of the Mayans. This is 2012 and the Earth is still blue but the world has evolved, do something right for once!

  • Still no The Walking Dead: The Game Episode 3 biggest waste of money ever, $19.99 for a game I could have had for free 3 month later.

  • With the increase in popularity of marvel’s comic book characters. Please try to get Activisions marvel comic games available on the psn store. There was no avenger movie game produced- releasing ultimate alliance 1&2 on the network would be great for those of us wanting a game featuring those characters. Also would be great to release all the spiderman psp, ps1, and ps3 games as well. Because there was no vita version of amazing spiderman produced, it would be nice to have the psp games available to play on vita.. There is money to be made!!!

  • Please make that people that already bought digital version of MGS HD Collection could download seperate versions for free, its not like Im asking for a free game, but since you’ve priced memory cards that high could you atleast do a favor by allowing download seperate versions.

  • Anyone complaining about prices should remember that those prices are set by the publishers of the games, not Sony. If you don’t like the prices email the publishers, complaining here isn’t going to do any good. Apple doesn’t set prices on iTunes, Microsoft doesn’t do it on XBLA, Sony doesn’t do it on PSN. With the exceptions, of course, when they’re publishing something themselves.

  • Can someone please clear this up for me.

I have the ps3 mgs:Hd edition and the psp peace walker. If I purchase the vita copies of mgs2 and mgs3, will I be able to transfer data with my disk based MGS:HD?

  • Can’t believe they actually went ahead and decided to charge full price for the digital version of Transformers….

  • @9 Dawnguard being held back has nothing to do with Sony–Bethesda has come forward and said that they aren’t releasing it on PS3 until they’re happy with it. Feel free to leave a comment on their own forums, but it’s something they’ve already addressed. I’m happy waiting if it means less bugs.

@12 Expect new PLUS games every two weeks. We got some (great) new games last week.

  • Can’t wait for PSone Classics being playable on Vita next week. Any chance on sales on PSone games in order for u guys to make a quick buck or something?

Also I’m glad Metal Gear 2 and 3 are separate, I enjoyed 2 and didn’t care that much for 3 from what little i had played.

  • Not much to complain about this update. People are going to have to dig on this one.

  • Whatever happened to Derrick the Deathfin, I’m just curious.

  • RELEASE TENCHU, INSTANT BUY!

  • @53 it’s a rights issue. That’s why they no longer have the DLC available for purchase. They lost the rights for the characters when their contract expired. So unless Marvel played nice on this one, along with whatever publisher now owns the rights, this unfortunately won’t be happening. I’m with you though–it’d be great to see those games for like ten bucks each. :)

  • Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure HD? Way of the Samurai 4? Legasista? Gungrave Overdose?

STOP THE MADNESS! MY WALLET CAN’T HANDLE SUCH GAMING PLEASURES!

  • No themes again for plus members this is getting really bad. Who else thinks this is not right ???

When Plus first came out we were told we would be giving things like

    Discounts
    Early Access to betas
    Themes and avatars
    Free games
    Automatic update

it feels like thinks keep disappearing and we don’t get anything in return for the loss of the themes

  • I’ll buy the MGS HD Collection when it comes out.

  • @63 that sucks. I have to admit i miss those old marvel games like Ultimate Alliance and Xmen Legends. I can’t believe they haven’t at least attempted to do something as an Avengers tie in game. Considering how much money it made.

  • @65 You’d rather have free crappy themes that only you will see than the free games they are concentrating more on giving us?

  • Well I tried pinching myself hoping I was in a dream. Unfortunately it’s no dream, the NA ps plus content for this month still sucks.

  • Since Final Fantasy 14 is getting buzz again with 2.0 coming soon, can we expect word of the ps3 rollout?

  • Dang,no Legasista sale. :/
Also no free retro/grade for NA PS+. :(
Why can Europe give away so much stuff but not NA?

  • I am extremely disappointed to see that Need for Speed: Most Wanted, a top selling title under the PS2 Classics category has been removed.

Will it be returning, or did licensing issues strike again? It has been removed from the EU store as well.

Sixth PS2 game in between Europe and North America to be removed from the PSN. Ridiculous.

  • Can’t wait to try Retro/Grade. Wish there was a demo for Crazy Strike Bowling. I need me a really good PS Move enabled bowling game.

  • Is Star Wars Battlefront 2 ever going to be available for download on ps3?

  • Telltale should save us all the rage every month and just say youll get a new episode AT LEAST every 2 months OR whenever we finish. They have yet to release an episode when they said they would.

  • Alot of good stuff but why would you guys sell mgs hd for $20 on the vita and $15 on ps3. why i mean why?

  • I believe Activision still has the rights to Spiderman. Would be great to get Spidermans other games on the network.

  • I still wonder when Youtube will be avalible in Canada.

  • a big update but nothing for me, deep black could be good but after how poor the pc version was i am not excited for the ps3 version, and i loved way of the samurai 1 and 2 but not so much with 3 so i am not sure about 4 yet.

  • NA ps plus manager I hope you are actually listening to all the negative feedback. EU plus is doing it right!!!! How about fixing the issue before the next update and show the North American consumers you care. Show some pride & integrity in doing your job by stepping up and admitting your NA plus scheme is a major FLOP in comparison to EU plus. I do believe that if Septembers plus is not amazing then all the 3 months subscribers will not renew. My year subscription is up in a couple months. So if things don’t change I will join those people in not renewing !!!!!

    X(

  • What happened to Mickey’s Wild Adventure aka Mickey Mania?

    • It was mentioned that this game could not release in NA since the emulation was only able to be done in PAL territories (Europe); so this title is not slated for release in NA at this time.

  • Is the Plants Vs Zombies sale only for this week?

  • I was ready to play the CS:GO trial today myself. Wasn’t on the store last time I checked like

  • i just wanted to ask if there will be a possibility in the fueture to delete specific games from your trophy list?

  • @Morgan

    Dude didn’t pre-order Counter-Strike & I didn’t get the Auto download demo at all….Whats up with that?

    • I think the idea was because you pre-ordered it already; so a demo would have been just more space on your HDD, since you were already clear to download the full game.

  • YOUHOU no more + at the right of my avatar.
EU is so better in every aspect (sales, games, goodies) and next month will be crappy like august and July for psn+ USA/Canada. Usa strategy is not working just look how many complain you receive in this blog.

+ I Can play 3/4 of the games I have downloaded on psn+ they are not expire lol.

By the way,my download list of psn+ thing just disappear. I presume all the thing I have download on psn+ in the download list will be there if and only if I resubscribe ? Will be **** if it’s not.

  • I had every intention of buying MGS3 on Vita before seeing the price. Why charge $5 more than the PS3 version just to play on a smaller screen? Doesn’t make much sense to me, I really do wish it were the same price, or at least give PS+ members a small discount.

  • All those games should be on PSVita as well with Cross Buy, Cross Play, etc and the exclusives each console has are games that can only be played on each respective console like Tearaway on PSVita for example.

I think instead of having those SNK games as PlayStation minis, there should be a SNK section on the PlayStation Store, or if those games are from a certain Neo Geo console, than a section of games from that console.

All those PSN games seem overpriced. It’s time to stop releasing games overpriced and release games with fair prices so more games get bought and people don’t pass on certain games or wait for the price to drop.

LOL Plants VS Zombies on PSN is super overpriced.

Sigh, still with the day one DLC, overpriced DLC and charging for DLC that should be free. For example, look at those outrages prices for skins and a few characters, they should be free. Companies, stop doing this, people are going to fed up and stop buying your games and if another game similar comes out that doesn’t do anti consumer practices they will buy those games instead.

  • Overall, this update has a lot of content ranging from almost all categories, I’m very impressed. Keep expanding the PSN with content, make sure it’s great and fairly priced, without any anti consumer practices.

  • @ Morgan: RE: comment #21:

Not to dwell or anything, but I didn’t have the game pre ordered and I’m a plus member. Then, by your explanation, I should’ve had the trial auto downloaded this morning. I had it turned on in my settings. Oh well, it’s too late now. Thanks for the reply.

    • hmm, i’m sorry to hear that it didn’t occur. There’s one more thing that may have needed to happen which is to go into your auto download settings and check the box that states ‘Demos’.

  • Am i the only one who’s wondering where is the content for the ps+? I mean discounts are nice and all but where is more for the instant game collection? What about ps1 or ps2 games? I’m curious if the gta vice city and if it’s possible for the liberty city stories and vice city stories for the psp to be psn games?

  • @87 i agree PS Plus members should get alittle something off from the MGS pricing. Or give us an option to buy both MGS 2 and 3 bundled for $20-$25.

  • counter strike! woooooo

  • corection to my post: I’m curious if gta vice city is coming out soon and if it’s possible for the liberty city stories and vice city stories for the psp to be psn games?

  • Is it me, or is the CS: GO Full Game Trial kinda hidden? All the other game trials are in the demo section (as well as being buried in the PS+ section), but not this one. I had to do a ton of searching before finding it, and didn’t even know there was a Trials section in the Exclusives part of the PS+ menu.

Is there any chance of getting the Full Game Trials their own section (perhaps under Demos on the front page)? It might help get more PS+ people (probably not, but it could happen) if they see all the Full Game Trials they have access to. Just a thought.

  • @Ryumoau: About what you would consider crapy games for Plus; It’s all a matter of opinion. I am of the opinion that the quality AND quantity has dropped since they changed the system. I think since the change we’ve gotten nothing, but crap and do prefer the way it was done before. Like I said, it’s all boils down to your tastes.

  • Loving the Keyboard and Mouse option!!! Keep it up with other titles. The fact that Dust 514 has it is stellar.

    Cheers.

  • Hey Kristine! How’s the job?

  • @96 i guess. But i really loved the initial 12 games they gave us around E3. I think they have been treating European members alot better since then. :(
