Liscensing issues, if I had to guess. It’s the reason we’re getting GTA III just now when it was scheduled for release at least or around a month ago. One small bit of liscensing prevented it from being enabled for download.

  • I see they finally got a new PSOne Classic for PS3. Nothing I’m really interested in though. At least they got GTA3(finally). Might give that one a go since it’s the only GTA game I haven’t played. I’ll give them points for that one. Thanks!!!

  • LightBox Interactive and Sony team:
Every time I press START or go to Multiplayer in Starhawk game freeze on its own… Please guys fix this… There a person on page 4 or 5 state same thing for multiplayer .., main while I try to redownload game will post if this fix the problem…
    Thank you, please respond.
P.S. I bought full game on PSN store.

  • 21 replies and not one addresses the Final Fantasy 3 debacle. Ignoring the people wont make the problem go away. This is just a huge disappointment since i was really looking forward to this title playable on my vita.

  • Hey Kristine,
It’d be great to get some clarification on FFIII working for some people on the Vita but not others… a lot of us are out 20 dollars so it’d be great to get some support from the fine folks at Sony! Thanks :)

    • Hey there, so I’m not sure why FFIII worked on Vita for some people, but this title (to my knowledge) isn’t Vita compatible for the moment. We’ll try to be more clear in future Store posts and add in when PSP games are available on Vita, and we’ll check in with third party to see if we can get clarification on whether FFIII will be available on Vita in the future.

  • @257/258

from what i read last night, when it first got released, everyone who owned a vita could download it thru the vita after they purchased it on the ps3. Then sony “fixed” the error and now no one can download it to the vita. I dont know why this happened, i would love to knw why the vita was blocked as well

  • NEED FOR SPEEEEEEED!!!

  • yup, i got beat for 10 bucks! the online pass description is not clear. it just says “unlock all the online features for starhawk” or something to that effect. it does not specify that it is for used or rented games. this is very misleading, especially since the link is placed directly under the free single player campaign in the playstion plus new arrivals section under starhawk in the playstation store. not a happy camper.

    • Hey there, really sorry about the confusion — if you downloaded the Single Player campaign from Plus the online pass doesn’t give you multiplayer access, the stand alone “Starhawk Multiplayer” item will. Online pass is only for people who have a used version of the game. Agreed that the Store messaging is confusing and we’re working to get that updated as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can contact customer service for a refund:

  • Thanks Kristine! Hopefully Square will release it to the Vita soon.

  • @258

Thanks Kristine. Adding Vita compatibility would really be beneficial to future store updates.

I know I tried the back door method of using the PS3 to buy and downloading it on my Vita, but I understand I took a gamble. If it’s not on Vita PSN, then I shouldn’t assume that I can download it on the Vita.

  • I searched for further information regarding the compatibility of Final Fantasy III on the PS Vita and there seems to be a lot of misinformation regarding this. One site, GamingExaminer.com, states that Square Enix gave them confirmation that it was available for the PS Vita in North America about two hours ago while this site is stating it is not compatible. I bough this title and was also rather disappointed and surprised when I could not play it on my PS Vita. So, what is the final word regarding the compatibility issue blog team? If it helps, I could give further information on the site that stated that they got confirmation from Square Enix if needed.

  • Nice update but whats the deal with only giving “THEME” as a Pre-Order Bonuses. Yes, I know PLUS user get anextra 10% discount , but not all Pre-Order games are offer with the 10% discount. Is this a joke, why are you guys at Sony laughing at us with these lame Pre-Order Bonuses.

  • Kristine, you are super friendly and helpful. Who is that girl with the boxing gloves where we click to get to this store update blog? Sports Champions 2? :)

  • @258
actually, theres quite a few ps1 games not in the vita store that you can download thru your ps3. As far as i know and done, all the Final fantasy with the exception of 5 can be downloaded to the vita thru the ps3, well, 3 & 5 now.

But no offense or dissrespect kristine, but if some people are able to play ff3 fine on the vita, the ones who downloaded it wihtin the first 2 hours of being rleased, i would say its vita compatible. I read online that scea “fixed” the issue, and then suddenly it couldnt be downloaded anymore, but still playable. One of my friends at work actually has it on his and i tried it out and plays fine. So i dont get why they are saying its not compatible.

  • Hey Kristine,
I was reading your comments on the FFIII not being compatible with the vita, however Square-enix themselves stated it should be Vita compatible at launch. Not to be a jerk or rude or anything, but wouldn’t the problem lie with Sony? Square already confirmed it, its on their website as well. It is quite weird that the game was available for Vita as soon as the store updated, only to have it removed hours later.

    • Ummm, yes, I see what you’re talking about now and that is confusing. I already sent out a note and am awaiting a response, but will add this bit of info too. Appreciate everyone’s patience on this! Will try to get it figured out ASAP.

    • Answer: There are still a few more steps for the game to clear to ensure that the game runs properly on Vita before it can be cleared for release. So, while it isn’t compatible with Vita right now, it should be in the future. Not the best answer, I know, but at least you guys will be all set when the game is cleared for release! Square has also updated their messaging to reflect this.

  • @268, @sony and @kristine

    Square-enix website
    http://na.square-enix.com/finalfantasyiii/go/article/view/final_fantasy_25th_anniversary/260137/final_fantasy_iii_available_now_for_psp!

“Now you can experience FINAL FANTASY III and take the experience portably through the PlayStation Portable (PSP) and PlayStation Vita (PSVita)! All your favorite FINAL FANTASY titles from the PlayStation era are available at the palm of your hand, a thrilling experience for any Sony user!”

So i agree, if even the publisher website says its compatible with vita, something seems really fishy here sony…

  • @ Blog Team

If possible, could you guys look further into the compatibility for Final Fantasy III on the PS Vita with the developer if you don’t mind. That way, at least some of the misinformation is mitigated.

  • sooo…. no crono cross for my vita…. that sucks…

  • i contacted square-enix, they say it IS compatible wiht the vita and not sure why its not showign up in the vita store. They are going to investagate as well to figure out whats going on. One of my other comments is awaiting moderation prob because it has a link to the square-enix site showing them saying its compatible with vita. lmao. So anyone that goes to thier site it says its compatible.

  • @ Krisitine

Thanks for replying about the Final Fantasy III compatibility issue!!!

  • Sorry, I meant Kristine.

  • On a side note. I’m playing Alien Crush on my Vita , and it is AWESOME !!!!!!.

  • Where is God of War Saga?!?!? My son-in-law’s PS3 has a broken BluRay drive and we have been anxiously awaiting this release.

This was advertised as being available Digital along with Rachet & Clank & Infamous Collections. Why is there no response to this major oversight?

    • I’m just waiting for people to get back to me…will update you guys when I can!

    • So, rather unfortunate news — due to the size of God of War III, we won’t be able to put the God of War Saga on the PlayStation Store for download just yet. We’re hoping to fix file size issues like this in the future, so hopefully it’ll come to the Store at a later date. Apologies for the confusion and disappointment, I know it appeared that we would be able to do it before.

  • Please have a firmware update to add external storage for your digital purchases. I have a 500GB internal drive that is almost full, and these new releases are going to force me to delete old ones, or put in a new internal (which will be a nightmare with transferring all the data) If I could just plug in an external usb drive to add additional content, I will be set!

  • I love how Sony is still hiding behind the developer as an excuse — “not our fault, talk to the developer!” when Square Enix is telling people that FFIII is definitely Vita compatible, was always meant to be, verified to work on Vita by SE themselves, and promoted as such.

Then SONY purposely blocked it for some reason. I’d like my $20 back please.

    • I’m sorry if that’s how you interpreted my original post, that wasn’t my intention. That said, we are aware that this is an issue, we’re looking into what happened and what the next steps are.

  • Kristine, you still haven’t answered questions about the lie Sony told earlier this year about Plus members getting a discount on Ratchet and Clank HD collection on psn.
It makes no sense for Plus members to not be able to get a discount on a SONY first party game. I just don’t understand you guys sometimes.

    • Sorry, I thought I had…as you can probably tell it’s been a very hectic day. Here’s what I meant to post:

So, there was never an official announcement of Plus discounts on the Ratchet & Clank collection, it was really just an accidental thing that slipped out on the Store post before the details were final (and that’s why we removed that portion of the Store post, which you’ll notice now). Although there’s no discount for them this week, it is something we’re looking at for future Plus benefits. I don’t want to put a timeline on that though, since as you can tell, things do change.

    • annnd, by “official announcement” I mean the PS Plus dedicated blog posts.

  • I went in to Gamestop to preorder LBP Vita and they said “oh It’s out early so here’s a copy.” I bought it and got it home disappointed that I couldnt get the preorder DLC and was surprised to find that my case had a flier inside that said thank you for preordering and here’s the code for the dlc skins. I put in the code and was only given the online pass. So now I’ve paid 40 during week one launch (technically before) and have no skins to show for it despite my efforts.

  • Kristine, for what it’s worth I’m not referring to you. You’re only allowed to say what somebody higher up tells you you’re allowed to say, and that must be frustrating.

I’m referring to the knee-jerk customer service response I got when asking if FFIII would be Vita compatible. “That will be up to the developer” or words to that effect. Obviously, it’s not up to the developer at all, because Square Enix clearly intended the game to be playable on Vita and it was all Sony and only Sony who decided to go against their wishes.

Apparently without even bothering to tell Square, judging by the fact that a couple hours ago the Square management folks were still Tweeting that FFIII is indeed playable on Vita and wondering if maybe people for whom it didn’t work might be using an outdated version of the Vita system software.

I hope for your sake, Kristine, that whomever you contacted has a response that involves the words “oops” and “we’ll fix this” because a lot of people are out $20 and this one isn’t going to be swept under the rug. We know it isn’t your personal fault, but you’re the face of the company and we have no other way to make our dissatisfaction heard.

    • No worries, and I appreciate your understanding.

I have an answer for FFXIII — there are still a few more steps for the game to clear to ensure that the game runs properly on Vita before it can be cleared for release. So, while it isn’t compatible with Vita right now, it should be in the future. Not the best answer, I know, but at least you guys will be all set when the game is cleared for release!

    • Roman numeral fail. I meant FFIII.

  • I have been a fan of Sony since the PS One came out!! I have defended Sony in all there mishaps! But this draws the Line.. How could you guys lie stright to our faces and say that Final Fantasy 3 wasn’t meant to play on the Vita when SE is telling us it was? This is crap I’m very upset I paid $19.99 for a game that I can’t even play. Then you wonder why people start to Hack there Vitas and PSP!! This is why cause you guys shaft us every chance you get!! Always remember “Remember Without us customers there wouldn’t be a Playstation” I hope this problem gets fix and gets fix fast.. The PSP is Dead!!!

  • Nice Add ons

  • I’m sorry Kristine, but your excuses for FFIII are total BS. You seem to be ignoring the fact that for the first few hours it was on the store it WAS Vita compatible and working just fine. Sony “fixed” it to NOT work. It was ALL Sony and only Sony who caused this problem. You aren’t taking steps to make sure it runs properly on Vita because you REMOVED the ability for it to run shortly after it’s release. But hey, go ahead and ignore all of those posts that clearly state this.

  • This terrible service is why I’m really thinking about just selling my Sony products and moving on to somewhere that doesn’t treat their customers like complete morons. SCEA is one of the biggest fails out there.

  • hey hey hey @288/289

Calm yourself, its not her fault or her doing. This is strictly sony and sony only. She can only post what shes been told and allowed to post. Maybe she agrees wiht us that its all bs, but she has to tout the company line. Anyone who works in a business HAS to do what thier bosses say. So dont take it out on her, its not her doing.

This is the problem with people these days, just like in retail stores, someone buys a product from say sony, they arnt happy wiht it, so they go and yell at the customer service rep at the store, its not the customer service reps fault or doing, but you people seem to not care and just blame them for all the companys wrong doings.
Think before you yell at someone. Im just as mad about what happened as well as many others, but you dont see us all yelling at her. If your that mad, call sony yourself and ask for a manager or supervisor, dont yell at the help. That or just go return your products and move on.

Sorry kristine that some are uncivilized.

  • Don’t listen to the trolls, it’s obvious a much more complicated situation than just hitting Vita compatibility on/off. Thanks for the help Kristine!

  • please answer this question!
on FUNimations site they said Shakugan no SHANA Second episode 1 was going to be on ps yesterday for free, but it didn’t show up, up till now and i wanna get my free episode. I’m assuming it will release with the traditional updates tmrw? I just wanna know will we be screwed or will we get our free episode?
Been dying for season 2 and now i have a chance to put its first ep on my vita so please don’t screw us on that.
PS. talk to FUNimation about releasing a vita app cause plenty would subscribe if they did that since they do subs and dubs, best of both worlds

  • Sevyne
i like your c comments usually cause people like you are the ones to make sony pick up the slack, but really? Sony is the only competitor to work with the community, I’m sorry but everywhere is worse, one competitor makes you pay for online while throwing ads at yiu EVERYWHERE and on top of that would ban people for early copies of games. The other has a horrible store and No cross buy compatibility with no advancements and far behind tech wise. Things are not always Sonys fault. FFIII wasn’t, I do get frustrated by the PSP/Vita compatibility list still missing Peace Walker and SEGA Genesis collection (works through ps3). But whatever I got a bunch of awesomeness like Legend of Heroes, FFIV and so on, I want FFIII and FFV compatibility and FFI & II on PSN so I can have 1-9 on my Vita before 10 releases on it.

  • @Teflon02: Man, I try to stay hopeful but SCEA really tests my tolerance. Also FFIII was Sony’s fault. It was working until they messed with it.

  • I’m sorry Sony, but I don’t buy the fact that it’s Square Enix’s fault that FFIII isn’t working with the PS Vita. There are PSN users, Redditors, and GameFAQs users that all got the chance to download it to their Vita and then a couple hours later in everybody’s download list “This item cannot be downloaded to a PS Vita system.”

That sure seems fishy, doesn’t it.

Especially when a good title like LittleBigPlanet PS Vita comes out on the same day? Even the lack of PS One titles, this week – it all points to one thing, you’re trying to get us to buy one game, that likely some of us don’t care about, and yet we don’t get the games we already own or the games we want because you want to force YOUR WAY upon us.

That’s not how business works if you actually want to stay afloat.

  • Picked up Tokyo Jungle..and the Animal bundle pack 1.. I LOVE IT!!! It’s like nothing I have ever played before!

  • To the bloggers that are complaining about FFIII not working on your Vita’s. SHAME ON YOU…
    (1) shame on YOU for not doing your research on what games are playable on Vita.
    (2) shame on YOU for casting your fustrations out on a young lady that is just doing her JOB by anwering your questions on why something is as it is.
    (3) shame on YOU for paying $20 for a game which in its own right, should be priced at around $10, (As is most other upper teir classic titles)…
Not mad at you guys, but you all should know better.

  • @297, shame on you for not getting your facts right

    (1) most of us HAVE done the research, if you goto square-enix website, it says right on thier own site that it IS compatiable wiht both the PSP AND VITA

    (2) not all of us are taking it out on poor kristine, only 1 or 2 people are, and the rest of us put them back in thier place saying its not her fault that its entirely all sony.

i cant argue with #3, but if thats what sony wants to charge, thats fine, but if poeple pay for something that the creators of the game say will work on a system and has been proved to work on the system, then they do have a right to gripe about it.

    just saying

  • Umm, they DID do their research. Square Enix even said it was ready and playable on Vita. Guess what? It was for a few hours after it released on PSN then Sony blocked it and are trying to act like they didn’t do anything to it. How about reading the comments before posting that nonsense?

  • At this point, everyone is in such an uproar over FF3, truthfully i think this can only end in 1 of 2 ways sony.

1: Tell us why u took the game off the shelf for the vita, if there was a bug or some type of security risk, just tell the community, 99% of us would understand, but at this point it from our point of view, it looks like ur just screwing the vita users on purpose.

    or

2: Unlock the game and let everyone download it like we should be able too. I say unlock at 10.00, but thats just getting a little greedy. Most of us would be fine paying 20.00, but only if we can actually play the game like its suppose too.

otherwise this anger will just keep growing and growing and prob start to spread to other post you do on your site till we get some kind of response one way or the other. but thats just my opnion

  • Anyway GTA 3 can be fixed so the controller doesn’t turn off when you turn on the game and shut it down?

  • I wish it was FFXIII

  • Awesome update this week!

  • Love the update. I had one question though..I just pre ordered nba 2k13..will the all star dlc be included in it or is it just the free theme+the game.

  • Sony,
Before answering our questions try to get your answers straight.Regarding FF iii not being Vita compatible apparently their publisher thought it was.I’m assuming it came as a shock to them to later hear that it wasn’t.You do understand people are trying to support the Vita and give you money right? Before saying it’s the publishers fault for a game not being playable you might want to check with them 1st or at least check what you make available to play. There are well over 100 games available to transfer to the Vita yet your list is less than 50 I believe. It seems as though no real communication goes on between teams based and the continual errors and retractions. Why have people answer blogs when they seem to not be given information? How many users learned through other users how to transfer their ps1 games through our ps3 and not be limited to the launch 8 or 9 games? We come here for information, help, news and get alot of I don’t know,it was an error, let me find out…I’d go out on a limb and say in most jobs if they were done this poorly you wouldn’t have one.

  • Ok Ok Ok…..Maybe I was a little to HARD on some of you. Smiley face for you all. ;-) But seriously, some of you all need to calm down a bit. The negetive comments are way out of control here sometimes. If its not working I suggest you voice your coments and wait for a reply. Or even call customer service and again, state the problem. I just hate to see the negetive backlash that some of the Moderators and PSN staff members get from some of you guys/gals. . Its just not fair. Their not at fault and should not be spoken to in that manner. In all fairness, nonstop complaining wont get it fixed and faster. Im sorry that some of you are not able to play your $20 game on your Vitas, but in sure the problem will be addressed soon…As always, Keep on Gaming.

  • Release ecolibrium for the ps vita already!!!!
